Chapter 3 The Truth
Its been 8 years since Sean was found within the temple and since he became part of Korra's family not knowing his true past or where and when he came from.
During those eight years Sean had learned to be a master Swordsman under Sokka's teachings before he started training with the very best from the White Lotus who also mastered the ways of the sword.
And of course Korra continued her Avatar training.
Currently right now the two were playing a game with Sean looking for her. (Just incase people have lost track of their age Sean is now 13 and Korra 12 years old)
In those eight years Sean had grown out a bit since then and grew some muscles a little big for someone his age but with the amount of training he went through it wasn't unexpected.
Looking around the area Sean looked for Korra when he spotted her hair behind some snow making him snort.
"I see you little Avatar." Sean said making her head pop out and laughed.
"Seeing and Catching are two different things muscle head." Korra said running off making him shake his head in amusement at the nickname she gave him years ago.
"Yeah you better run." Sean said chasing after her.
Continuing to follow her she used water bending to jump over a small gap before she was on the other side.
"Whats the matter Sean? Can't jump or fly? Oh yeah thats right you walk everywhere since you can't bend oh what a shame." Korra teased her best friend making him scoff in amusement.
"You are so toast when I catch you." Sean said backing up before he ran at quick speeds before jumping and made it to the other side before she ran off as he followed.
Thats when they came to a cave that resembled a dragon's head before Korra went in.
"Hey wait a second. Thats cheating. Senna says we're not allowed in there." Sean protested.
"Pffft. Excuses, excuses. Catch up or give up muscle head." Korra said running in making him sigh before slicing the mouth open before running in after her.
"Wheres that girl gone now?" Sean asked looking around.
"Hey has anyone seen a muscle head with a sword around here? I lost mine." Korra said in the cave.
"Oh shut up." Sean said rushing to find her.
Thats when he caught up to her.
"Seriously Korra. I don't think we should be here." Sean said.
"Oh relax. Whats the worst that can happen?" Korra asked before some thing grabbed her. "HEY!"
"Korra!" Sean yelled chasing after her before whatever took her appeared next to some undead warriors. "You and your big mouth!" Sean yelled making her groan.
The Leader looked to be a mix between human and Ox who looked at Sean. (Picture Mnevis from Gods of Egypt)
"I thought all your kind were gone."
"Huh?" Sean asked.
"Miserable freak let me go!" Korra yelled as she was tied up making him laugh.
"Don't let the Spartan get away."
Thats when two of the undead warriors jumped down as Sean pulled his sword out.
"Ok." Sean said as they tried to attack him but Sean quickly slashed them to pieces with ease before one tried to jump on him but Sean kicked it away with ease.
Thats when more showed up with bigger swords but Sean sliced them apart with ease after years of practice.
"No doubt about it. He's one of them"
"Let me go and fight me like a...Thing...Whatever you are. You weird looking freak." Korra said making him growl as he jumped down with her.
"I've had about enough of you." He said about to stomp on her.
"Korra look out! NOOO!" Sean roared before breathing white fire at them which made the undead warriors yell in pain while the leader jumped away.
"WHOA! Was that white fire?" Korra asked in shock as the leader shook off his shock.
"Take care of him. I gotta report to Set." He said running off.
"The hell?" Sean asked before slicing apart the rest of them before rushing to Korra.
"Get this rope off me It's getting really uncomfortable here you know." Korra said before he sliced it off.
"You ok?" Sean asked.
"Yeah considering I almost got burnt...Wait." Korra said.
Later
"He breathes fire. So I'm about to use earth bending to get free and he opens his mouth and white flames come out." Korra said to her parents.
"I was trying to help." Sean said rubbing his head.
"I know but still. Seriously you two should have been there he breathed white fire out of his mouth." Korra said making both parents look at each other. "You don't believe me? Sean tell them." Korra said.
"Well, it's true I swear. I just..." Sean tried to say.
"It's not that Sean, we believe you both...It's just...Senna and I knew this day would come." Tonraq said.
"What are you talking about? What day?" Sean asked.
"The day we would have to tell you the Truth." Tonraq said.
So they went on to tell him he wasn't originally from the South but found him in the dying arms of his mother and took him in. Of course they left out they found him in the temple that he and Korra were forbidden from ever going into.
"So...I'm not from the South pole?" Sean asked.
"No but that doesn't make you any less part of it or this family. It's just...We have no idea where you're from is the problem." Senna said.
"What about my mother? You never told me where you buried her." Sean said.
"Well...We never got the chance." Tonraq said.
"What does that mean?" Korra asked.
"As strange as this sounds her entire body turned to green dust and vanished. We knew right away like Korra you were far from an ordinary child. And considering what you just told us...It definitely proves it." Tonraq said.
"Why didn't you ever say anything?" Sean asked.
"Hey I just remembered something. What did that thing call you? A...Spartan?" Korra asked.
"I think so...I don't know what that is though." Sean said.
"The reason we never told you is because we didn't want you going looking for answers you might not like. We did it to protect you." Tonraq said.
"We know have some obvious questions but we really can't answer them." Senna said making him sigh.
"I guess." Sean said as he walked out with Korra.
"We're going to have to tell him the full truth soon enough. He's not gonna like it though." Senna said.
"I know. But not now." Tonraq said.
"You ok?" Korra asked Sean.
"Yeah its just...I always knew I was different from the others in the tribe...But I never really thought I was never actually one of them." Sean said.
"Hey, You heard what my mom said. Just because your not born here doesn't make you any less part of it." Korra said making him smile.
"Yeah. I still have a lot of questions though. The main one being who was my mother?" Sean asked.
"We'll find out soon enough." Korra said.
Days later
It's been a few days since Sean learned he was not from the Southern water tribe and since he and Korra were attacked by forces unknown to anyone.
The White Lotus had investigated the remains of those that attacked them but nothing about them was known.
Right now Sean was at a cliff looking at the ocean still pondering about his past and where he came from not knowing he was from another time.
Sean sighed as he looked at his sword that Sokka had given him a couple years ago.
"Lost in thought?"
Sean widened his eyes before jumping up and faced Unalaq.
"Get the hell away from me you jerk!" Sean yelled aiming at him.
"Relax. I'm not here to fight." Unalaq said.
"I find that very difficult to believe considering you tried to kill me 8 years ago. I haven't forgotten." Sean said glaring at him not knowing a White Lotus sentry saw them before rushing off to warn Tonraq and the others.
"No I doubt you ever would. I had heard Tonraq and Senna told you the Truth." Unalaq said.
"Thats none of your business. Get lost." Sean said about to leave.
"So they told you where they found you?" Unalaq asked.
"Yeah, yeah. In the arms of my dying mother somewhere." Sean said.
"So they didn't tell you the full truth." Unalaq said making him face him.
"What are you talking about?" Sean asked making him smirk.
"Typical of Tonraq to leave certain details out. He told me where he found you. Yes they did find you with your mother as she died. What they did not tell you is where..." Unalaq said.
"And where is that?" Sean asked.
"Tell me something have you ever been to that temple?" Unalaq asked looking at it from a distance.
"No. Me and Korra aren't allowed in there. They made that very clear. Whats does that have to do about this?" Sean asked.
"Don't you find it strange? Shortly after the temple shows up...You come into their lives? You must have noticed the timing was very strange." Unalaq said.
"What are you getting at? Spit it out!" Sean yelled as Tonraq and the others were rushing to them.
"You were found in that temple with your mother incased in a shell of ice. Thats where they found you. You're not from the Southern Water Tribe or any part of the four nations...You are from a different part of the world. From a different Era. One of which was thrown into chaos...Because of you because of what you are." Unalaq said shocking him.
"UNALAQ!" Tonraq yelled grabbing him. "I told you to stay away from him." Tonraq said glaring at him.
"Is it true?" Sean asked making them face him. "Did you find me in that temple?" Sean asked making them widen their eyes as Tonraq glared at his brother who remained calm.
"Sean...We were only trying to protect you." Senna said making him shake his head before rushing off. "Sean wait!" Senna yelled as he ran off.
"See what you've done!" Tonraq yelled.
"I'm not the one who lied to him." Unalaq said making him glare.
Later
Senna walked into the temple as she found Sean sitting on a stone chair looking at where he was found.
"Why am I even here?" Sean asked making her sigh.
"Look I'm sorry we didn't tell you the truth but..." Senna tried to say.
"Oh I know you two had good intentions I'm not mad about that. I just...Why was I even in here?" Sean asked as she sat down next to him.
"Your mother...She said that there were people after you...Something about you scares them and she needed to hide you." Senna said.
"From who though?" Sean asked.
"She never said. But we do know wherever you're from originally was a nightmare. Tenzin had found someone who could access your memories without you seeing them. All we saw was death in the worst ways possible." Senna said.
"Great. So I come from a royally messed up timeline. Look...I just want to be left alone for a little bit. Please?" Sean said making her nod before standing up.
"Listen. When Tonraq and I found each other all we wanted was to raise a normal family. But then we found out Korra was the next Avatar and knew normal wasn't possible for us anymore. Then we found you in here. But everyday we considered a Gift with both of you." Senna said making him face her. "Whatever the reason your mother placed you in here. We enjoyed every day we had you. And so has Korra." Senna said before she left making him sigh.
Looking into the casket that once held him and his mother Sean placed his hands on it before closing his eyes.
The Next Day
Korra was outside training to use Water Bending.
"Korra." Senna said getting her attention. "Have you seen Sean anywhere? I can't find him." Senna said.
"Not since last night. Probably still in the temple." Korra said making her sigh. "Is...He gonna be ok?" Korra asked concerned.
"I don't know. Your uncle has...Put him in a difficult place since he learned the truth. It's like he doesn't know who he is anymore." Senna said worried for him.
Thats when they walked inside before they saw Tonraq with a letter in hand before he sighed.
"Tonraq? Whats wrong?" Senna asked.
"He's gone." Tonraq said.
"What are you talking about? Your brother?" Korra asked.
"No...Sean left last night." Tonraq said handing them the letter before Senna took it with shaky hands before she read it.
'Theres honestly no easy way for me to say this in person so I thought it would be easier to write it. I can't stay here right now. I need to find out where I cam from...And Who I am and why I was in that temple for who knows how long. Leaving all of you is the most difficult thing I can even think about doing. But until I get the answers I need I can't stay here...No matter how much I want to. Eventually I will come back home. But for now I need to leave.'
Senna started sobbing as she fell to her knees as Tonraq held her.
"No, No." Korra said reading it before she ran out to find him.
Korra ran out with tears in her eyes as she rushed to the cliff side where the ocean was.
"SEAN!" Korra yelled hoping he would hear her before she fell to her knees and cried.
Meanwhile
Sean sat in a small boat as he went to find out where he came from and what he was.
He hated himself for leaving the only family he ever knew behind.
But he knew he needed answers to his past and where he was from and more importantly what he was that made Unalaq hate him so much.
As he was lost in thought however he noticed a large shadow over him making him look before widening his eyes seeing a large wave.
"AHHH!" Sean yelled as it hit him.
(Insert Epilogue from Halo 2 soundtrack)
Destroying his boat and knocking him out Sean sank to the bottom of the ocean.
"This is not your grave."
A pair of hands grabbed Sean before pulling him away somewhere safe.
