Thalia POV
Artemis told me that Haley takes after her mother, and Stella her father. I didn't expect this. Not this.
I saw Artemis out of the corner of my eyes. She mouthed the words: No one can know
I wouldn't be the one to tell this! Not this. Never this.
" Um, uh, Hi? I, I'm Thalia… " I stuttered.
Oh my gods, Thalia! They're going to think you're an idiot! You have to get used to the idea!
I cleared my throat.
" I'm Thalia. I'm Artemis's lieutenant. My sole job now, is to protect you while Artemis is not able to. "
That's better. Good job, Thalia! Now you get a treat! Shut up, I'm not a dog! Gods, what is wrong with my brain?
Stella tilted her head. I felt like her eyes were boring into me, as if she was reading my thoughts.
Oh my gods! Can she do that? No! Can you please stop talking?!
" We know who you are. You're friends with our parents. Of course, that's in the 'future'. " Haley made air quotes for that last word.
" Uh, yeah. OK, um… " Zeus, help me! What the hell should I say? " You don't have to worry about this whole prophecy thing. We'll figure it out. "
Dad, that's not helpful! Thalia, you chose to say that. Stop blaming Zeus! So what am I gonna do? Blame myself? Like that's gonna happen.
Thankfully, Artemis sensed my distress, and continued for me.
" We'll leave in the morning. I will go consult my source about what you will need to do at Camp."
" Couldn't you have consulted that source before you called us here? " Stella rolled her eyes.
I can see her mother doing that if she were here. Ew! Don't think about that whole thing!
" Just go. " Artemis's voice made it clear that the conversation was over.
Great. So, 2 girls show up, and they're from the future, they have to fulfill some mystery prophecy or the universe will probably be destroyed ( or something along those lines ) and I have to protect them at all costs when we get to Camp Half - Blood. Can nothing be simple anymore! Seriosuly, this all seems like a dream you might have when you fall asleep by thinking about a hundred sheep that love jumping around. My gods, Thalia, what is wrong with your head!
I dragged the girls away and noticed Artemis hastily entering the forest.
OK, Thalia. You have to get ahold of yourself. You were shocked. You were surprised. You were tired. And now you're fine. Everything's fine. You're fine. Everything's fine. You're fine. Everything's fine. And so are you!
I kept repeating those thoughts until I calmed down.
How are you going to deal with this? Who's the smartest person you know?
You don't have to ask me, brain. I know who that is.
Oh yeah? And what would she do?
She would… She would try to figure out as much as she could about Stella and Haley. In fact, she would become their friend.
Who are you thinking about? Because only one of those options is right. 2 people. 2 things that they would do. Which person do you want to be?
Thalia, what is wrong with you! Having a conversation with your brain!? As if it's a person seperate from you? As if it's a person at all!
We entered my tent. Haley turned around to face me and crossed her arms.
" So, you're going to protect us? "
" Yeah. "
Thalia! Oh gods, how stupid are you! First of all, be nice. They're obviously traumatized. You would be too if you were attacked by something that tried to burn you alive and then give you an ugly gash down your arm. And then send you to the past. Second of all, choose one of the two options!
" I know this whole thing must be hard for you to understand, I don't completely get it either. But you are going to have to trust me. OK? "
Much better. You were concise, but also kind and understanding. Shut up, Brain. I can't. I'm a part of you! No, you're not. If you were, you wouldn't keep annoying me. I'll give you a name. You'll be… Alicia?
Are you kidding me? You're giving me a name so that you can tell yourself I'm seperate from you? Alicia?
Yup. Now shut up.
" We do trust you. We still remember you. When we were 6, you used to come by all the time and spend time with us. " Stella said, speaking for the both of them.
" Artemis said you were powerful. The most powerful demigods that will be born for a century. Even more than the 7 from the prophecy. Even though they are supposed to be the greatest demigods of this age. But you haven't been born yet. " I had more to say, but Stella cut me off.
" Our parents were part of the prophecy.
7 half-bloods shall answer the call
To storm or fire the world must fall
An oath to keep with the final breath
And foes bear arms to the doors of death "
" So, just how powerful are you? " I finished.
" That depends. What do you call power? An ability, your skill in a fight, your intellect? "
I started creating a profile on her.
Thalia: She thinks she's really smart, she's a bit edgy -
Alicia: She's powerful?
Thalia: They both are!
Alicia: Just trying to help, jeez…
Thalia: Well you're not. I think she probably has all of the things she listing.
" We both do. " Stella said.
" What?! Oh gods, you really can read my mind right? Damn…. "
" It's one of my abilites, as Haley put it. I got it from my father. "
" Wait. Your dad can read minds! Oh my gods! "
" It's called Telepathy. I'm a Telepath. And a couple other things… " she smiled slyly.
" Explain. Now. Tell me everything you can do. "
" That's a long list. " Haley sighed.
Alicia: Looks like she's proud of that fact.
Thalia: Now that was actually helpful.
Alicia: Do you realize that if I'm actually a different person, you have, like, a dual personality disorder?
Thalia: You're not a different person. You're me. I just don't want to think that you are me because you keep yelling at me!
Alicia: Now who's yelling? Basically, you hate yourself.
Thalia: If you were a real person, you'd be smiling right now.
" We both have very different abilites. IN THE NEXT CHAPTER I WILL REVEAL THE LIST
" OK, that's a lot… but, how? How do you have so many 'abilities'? " I asked.
" You don't have to do the air quotes. They're just abilities. And we're not going to tell you everything. " Stella answered.
I sighed.
Thalia: Gods, these girls are difficult. Zeus, please help me!
Alicia: You really think he'll listen?
Thalia: OK, from now you on, you stay quiet until I revoke your ' Shut up ' curse.
Alicia: Curse?
Thalia: Yes. I am cursing you. SHUT UP!
I couldn't wait for the morning.
