A/N : Hey everyone! Epifunny here!
This is my first fanfiction and I hope you like it. For each update, I will be suggesting a couple of songs that I think really remind me of the chapter. So go ahead and ENJOY!
P.S. I will try my best to update weekly at the latest, but I don't really have an updating schedule.
Disclaimer : The Mortal Instruments and all the characters belong to Cassandra Clare (this unfortunately includes Jace as well). I only own the plot.
I'm so sorry for updating so late, but I had a project to work on.

CHAPTER 2

Clary POV

The first thing that Clary did the moment she reached her new home was to check her motorcycle for any damages. Since she had to carry some of her bags with her, there had been no other choice but to drive her car and the bike had to be carried in the moving van. And as much as she loved the Aston Martin, her bike was her baby. It was a sleek black Harley-Davidson Cosmic Starship with neon blue flame designs that she had painted herself.

Satisfied with her inspection, she took a deep breath and made her way towards the house. It was quite big – not as big as Morgenstern Manor, but definitely bigger than the other houses in Alicante. She took her time walking towards the doorway, where her mom stood with a nervous smile on her face. She knew that look – it was Jocelyn's guilty face, and it meant that in her effort to make up for her mistakes, she was going to start being overbearing. Slowly she reached the house and gave her mother a hug.

"Hey sweetie. How was the drive?" Jocelyn asked, slinging her arm around Clary's shoulders as they walked into the house.

"It was good Mum. I found the cutest café on the way here. It's called Java Jones." Clary replied. She knew her that her mother felt sorry and regretful for her actions the past few months. Their special mother-daughter bond had been damaged, and it would be a while before they were comfortable with each other again. Until then, Clary was ready to let her mother try her best. She knew she was going to have to put some effort on her behalf as well – every relationship is a two-sided one after all.

"Oh yeah, I saw it on the way here. Maybe we can get breakfast there tomorrow?" Jocelyn said. She understood that her daughter had forgiven her and she was grateful for it.

"Sure Mum. I'm gonna go and start unpacking, 'kay?"

"Of course hun. Oh, and we are going over to the Lightwoods for dinner at six."

At this, Clary paused. "Who are the Lightwoods?" she asked.

"They're our neighbors. And I know Robert and Maryse, the parents. We studied together at school. They have four kids, and three of them are around your age. I sure you'll like them." Jocelyn replied nonchalantly.

"Okay…" Clary said slowly. She just hoped that these neighbors weren't as friendly as Maia or Simon, because by the Angel, she could only handle so much excitement before she went mad.

As she was walking towards her room, Clary heard her mother call her name. She turned around to find Jocelyn fiddling with the hem of her shirt and looking around nervously. Slowly, she took a deep breath and looked Clary in the eye.

"Yeah, Mum?"

"I… I uh, I wanted to apologize for my actions, or rather lack of it, for these past few months. I have been a terrible mother and I know it. I just… what I did was extremely wrong, and even though I know you don't have any reason to, I just hope that you'll forgive me."

Clary was shaking her head half-way through Jocelyn's apology, and by the time she was done, Clary's bottom lip was quivering with restrain as she tried to control her tears.

"Mum… we both lost Dad and Jon. But you were the one who had to see their bodies. That obviously made it much harder for you than me. Those months were just your way of dealing with it. And yeah, it's gonna take a while for us to be close again, but I don't blame you. Not one bit. You hear me? Not one bit. Alright?"

Clary was outright crying by now. Jocelyn let out a gush of breath before pulling her daughter into a tight hug, tears of her own streaming down her face. The mother-daughter duo sobbed on each other's shoulders as they slowly sunk onto their knees, the polished wood floor hard on their legs.

Slowly their tears stopped, Jocelyn pulling back first to place a soft kiss on Clary's forehead. The pair looked at each other with small smiles on their faces.

"I love you Clary. Never forget that, okay?"

"I love you too Mum. But we really need to start unpacking now."

With a small laugh Jocelyn wiped a few stray tears from her face and pulled Clary up with her.

"Fine. But please Clare, wear something other than your usual t-shirts tonight. They've all got paint splatters on them. Maybe one of those pretty dresses I got for you, yeah Pumpkin?"

"But Mum!" Clary said, whining at both the nickname and the fact that she might have to wear a dress. And knowing her mother, she would probably force her into a pair of heels along with it.

"Do I have to? I mean, they're our neighbors. Also, please, drop that ridiculous name. "

"First, yes you have to. Second, it's never gonna happen Pumpkin."

With a small huff, Clary stopped up to her room, Jocelyn's tinkling laughter following her.

Jace POV

Jace was hitting the punching bag to the beat of the fast music playing from his phone, sweat dripping down his neck. He had been in the training room for the past two hours and was high on adrenaline. He didn't mind the sweat; in fact he was sure it made him look more attractive. He smirked as he remembered the many winks and giggles that had followed him through the streets during his daily run.

"Jace!" came a girly shriek from outside the room, and he knew that his 'fun-time' was over. Sure enough, not even half a minute later, a tall girl with waist length dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. She had a slim figure and dressed in a tight red crop top, fashionable ripped black jeans, a brown leather jacket and black boots with five inch heels. Why she wore such high heels when she already towered over most people was beyond Jace.

"What do you want Izzy?" Jace asked in a bored voice.

"Why are you still training?! The Morgensterns are going to be here in half an hour!" Izzy screeched.

Jace's eyes widened minutely, before quickly putting his bored face back on.

"So?" he asked, knowing it would annoy Izzy.

"So? So?! You need to get dressed Jace. And by the Angel do you need a shower. You stink!" she retorted.

"Jeez Izzy, alright. No need to get hysterical." He said quickly.

Grabbing a towel from a nearby bench, Jace walked to his room, wiping the sweat from his neck. He took a quick shower, sighing as the hot water soothed his sore muscles. As he walked out of his bathroom, wrapped in a towel, he glanced at a watch and cursed inwardly. It was six already, meaning the Morgensterns were already here, or would be any second.

He quickly grabbed his usual clothing – a white shirt with dark jeans and a black leather jacket, and hastily made sure his hair looked presentable. Just as he was lacing up his combat boots, the doorbell rang. A loud I'll get it came from his mother. He swiftly ran out of his room and towards the stairs. Once he had descended them, he walked towards the doorway, to see his mother hugging a woman with dark red wavy hair and wearing a royal blue dress. Behind her was an extremely short girl with the same colored hair, but in unruly curls, wearing an emerald green dress. She turned towards him as his boots made soft click-clack noises.

When her eyes locked with his, Jace suddenly found himself lost in a sea of green, while her laser-like eyes held his in place. He was dumb struck for a minute as only one coherent thought made its way into his mind.

Beautiful.

So the Lightwoods are finally here. And Jace and Clary have met! Whoop! Clace 4ever!
