DM Margo and The Runaway Boulder Chapter 3
Later on, Margo sat heavy heartedly by the window staring out at the pouring rain outside and the grey sky. She had to prove to her mom and especially her dad, that the boulder had a face, but how? At lunchtime, Margo picked at her food, lost in thought. ''Margo, what's wrong?'' Lucy asked. "I want to go back to see the boulder, Mom!" sighed Margo. ''When the weather's better sweetie'' Lucy said gently.
The next day, the sun shone. Margo woke up early, still in her green nightgown. She went to wake up her little sisters, even Lucky the goat woke up. ''Margo? Why are you waking us up so early?'' Edith yawned sleepily. ''Go back to bed please Margo'' said Agnes, ''We wanna sleep!''. Just then, Kevin, Bob, and Stuart came in. ''Good morning guys'' Margo greeted the three minions, ''What brings you in here?''. Kevin spoke to her in Minionese. "Shhh!" Margo hissed. "Can you whisper?".
''Margo!'' Edith groaned, ''What are you even doing?''. "We're going to go back out there to see the boulder that I'm so interested about," Margo explained. ''But you saw it yesterday!'' Agnes protested, ''Why do you need to see it again?''. "Come on! We're gonna make it quick" Margo insisted. "No time!" urged Margo. "Come on!". "BAAAAAH!" Lucky squeaked. ''Look I'll bring us some biscuits so we won't get hungry'' Margo said.
They got dressed quickly. Then slowly and quietly, Margo led Lucky, her sisters and the three minions towards the front door. ''Are you sure we should be doing this?'' asked Agnes. "I'm sure, Agnes," Margo replied. ''Please don't get us into trouble!'' begged Edith. She knew whenever Margo was headstrong about something she wanted, things always seemed to end in disaster! They walked quickly back to where the boulder sat on the mountains.
Margo shared out the biscuits she had brought for them to share. Then she noticed something. ''Hey look guys! The boulder's moving!'' she shouted and pointed up at it. More stones began to crumble. Suddenly, the boulder came crashing down from the mountains and landed next to everyone shaking the ground with a deep, hollow thump.! They looked up at the boulder at first, but unfortunately it started to wobble a little before it started rolling towards the girls, the minions and Lucky!
Bob cried out in Minionese when he realized that the boulder had started to move very slowly. ''Run!'' shouted Margo urgently, ''I didn't see this coming!''. She grabbed Agnes and carried her. Edith did the same for Lucky wrapping her arm around his fluffy white body. The minions ran after them. Then the boulder went a little more fast when they raced down the hill. Just ahead there was a small side. But the boulder was no where to be seen.
Suddenly, Kevin screamed. He pointed fast and started shouting frantically in Minionese. They knew what he meant, it looked like he was saying, "Oh, no! It's behind us!". They raced off again as fast as they could, screaming, "AAAAHHHHHHH!". They ran off again, just ahead there was a path going uphill. Just in time, they were safe at last, running upwards. The boulder thundered past. "We gotta warn the village!" Edith shouted. "Yes, but how?" called Margo.
Meanwhile back at the mansion, Lucy was checking on the girls when she was horrified to find the whole bedroom empty! Lucy gasped. "GRU! THE GIRLS ARE GONE!" she yelled. Gru came running. ''You're joking! Right?'' he asked hopefully. "NO!" said Lucy. Gru and Lucy went to find Dru and they told him that the girls were missing. ''Don't tell me Balthazar Bratt has taken them again!'' Dru said. "No, no, no! There's no villain dis time!" Gru insisted.
''We gotta go and find them!'' Lucy added. ''Let's go in my airship!'' Gru said, thinking quickly, ''We'll be able to find them better from up in de air''. They climbed aboard the airship and Gru started the engine. Soon they were flying above the landscapes of Freedonia. Suddenly Dru shouted, ''Look brother! isn't dat de boulder rolling down dere?''. Gru looked down closer and saw it was indeed the boulder from the mountain tops rolling along the ground gathering speed.
'It's heading for the village Gru!'' Lucy said, ''We need to find the girls quickly!''. Gru flew further along to where the boulder had once stood on the mountains. He could see that it was no longer there explaining why they'd seen it rolling along only seconds ago! Then he turned and headed for the village. As they got nearer, Lucy spotted the girls, down below with the three minions and Lucky!
"There they are!" she shouted. ''What is it Lucy?'' Gru asked, his eyes glued to the direction of the village looking out for the boulder. "I can see the girls!" Lucy replied. ''She's right brother! We gotta land!'' urged Dru. Meanwhile Margo had spotted her dad's airship from where she was standing with her sisters, the three minions and Lucky. ''Mom! Dad, Uncle Dru! Over here!'' she shouted waving up at the airship.
Gru couldn't hear his eldest daughter's shouting from over all the noise of the airship, but he landed it safely down onto the ground. He turned off the engine and he, Dru and Lucy got out. Lucy ran towards the girls, "My babies!" she cried, picking up the girls and kissing them. ''Mom! It's the boulder!'' said Margo, ''It fell down from the mountains and chased us!''. Gru came stamping crossly up to them.
''Girls!'' he bellowed, ''What is de meaning of dis? You know better than to go off without telling us! We were worried sick!''. ''It wasn't my idea Dad!'' Edith said hastily. ''Nor mine!'' said Agnes, just as hastily. It was Margo! She made us come up here with her!''. Gru glared. ''Margo? I should have known!'' he growled. Lucy put the girls down. Margo gulped nervously, now she was in serious trouble! Her dad looked down crossly at her.
