Kavar's POV

Atris coming to Telos wasnt an uncommon occurence. It was two days after his own arrival. Once again Lambert was in a Force Suggested sleep. If he remembered correctly she trained the Echani. Force sensitives who trained in melee combat without the Force. The training without the Force made them extremely difficult to fight against. The group was almost as old as the Jedi themselves.

Unwilling to leave Lambert on his own in case he had a nightmare, Kavar requested that she come to the room. The reply he received was curt and annoyed. She could not however deny his request as he was a senior member of the Council. They would speak outside in the hallway. The nearby apartments had been cleared for the safety of the residents. After that first night the TSF said the residents were cooperative.

When Atris arrived at the door she lightly knocked. Kavar only briefly glanced at the padawan. Lambert's breathing and presence was unchanged. He was still fast asleep.

Kavar kept the door slight ajar to hear the nightmare before it worsened. Atris greeted with a slight haughty tone, "Kavar you look well. Especially given how close you are in proximity to the Exile."

He returned the greeting, "Atris it has been awhile since we last spoke. Not since I left for Onderon."

She replied, "We both have been busy with other things. I have been working tirelessly with the Echani. And you have been working on restoring Onderon."

That was true. They both had been busy over the last year or so. With things heating up again they will be even more so. That was, if Revan and Alek had truly returned with the intent to destroy the Republic. Currently it was only rumors but if he knew the two half as well as he thought he did then it wouldnt stay rumors for long.

Kavar said tiredly, "Trying to help Onderon heal has been slow going. Another war could shift the tides of power there."

Atris glanced at the open door behind him as she questioned, "And you think Lambert will turn the tides? He was loyal to Revan before and followed him to the Mandalorian Wars. It is possible that he will return to Revan's side. Especially if you return to him, his lightsaber."

Kavar looked long and hard back at the room. She had a point. If Lambert was the same child that left he very well could return to Revan. One thing that everyone knew about him was that he was extremely loyal. But only to those who had earned it.

Then he shook his head as he said, "If Lambert was still loyal to Revan I dont believe he would be here. I think that he would have returned to Revan as soon as he could. Even without a lightsaber."

Silence hung between the two master for a long moment. Then Atris unhook Lambert's lightsaber from her belt and held it out to him hilt first. As was custom he took it and activated it.

With a snap hiss the lightsaber hummed to life. Its silver blade lighting up the hallway around them. Distantly within the Force he could feel the echoes of lives lost. Many had fallen to this blade in the war. Human and alien alike.

A shudder ran through Kavar at the feeling. Part of him had to wonder if Atris was in fact correct. The lightsaber alone could shift Lambert back to Revan. So many had followed Revan because of the younger boy.

Against their instincts and the Council. One master spoke of how padawans and even Knights would not hesitate to follow the boy simply because he asked them to. No one knew what exactly caused him to draw such a following.

Vrook suspected it was Lambert's ability to form bonds. Typically it took years of working together to make a bond between master and padawan to form mental communication. Master Shioon spoke of being able to speak to Lambert across the Force within a few short weeks. It was unheard of but easily proven by the two.

Atris questioned her eyes flashing with triumph, "You feel it too, dont you? The feeling of all the lives taken by this blade? Are we right in retraining someone who could easily return to killing again? Or should we put a stop to the madness now before it has a chance to begin again?"

Kavar sharply looked up at her. The questions could have been innocent enough if it wasnt for who was speaking. She wanted to kill Lambert before he ever had the chance to start his training again. To forcefully ensure he never turned to the Dark Side. That was something he could never agree with. No matter the reason she gave for it.

Coldly he said, "I think you should leave, Atris. I will not allow anyone to harm Lambert. Not while he is under my tutelage."

"You are making a grave mistake, Kavar," she snarled, "I hope you see that before it's too late. Put him down before he becomes a danger to the galaxy."

With that she was gone leaving Kavar alone in the hallway. He didnt want to think about the consequences of tonight's conversation. He had spoken the truth when he said he would not allow harm to come to the young man. People could change if they were given the chance to. He was going to prove it to Atris.

Upon entering the apartment he found Lambert sitting up. Slowly Kavar clipped the lightsaber onto his belt. Ever aware of the eyes that followed every movement he made. Lambert must have heard Atris telling Kavar to him down.

Lambert questioned not looking at him, "Are you going to take her advice? Put me down like a rabid animal?"

"Maybe if I thought you were rabid," countered Kavar easily, "Fortunately for everyone involved I dont. You are many things Lambert but you are not rabid. I think you can heal all you need is time."

For a moment Lambert simply stared at him. Then he said, "Call me, Lukas. Lambert is getting old and fast."

A small smile crossed Kavar's face as he conceded, "Lukas then."
