Thanks, for the reviews, I've taken the criticism and have tried to fix it, the previous chapter should now be a lot more done up and detailed, for instance, I describe Star Platinum instead of leaving it to the audience.
I thought this would get like ten or so follows but it gained a decent amount for the short time it has been up, I won't rush chapters, so this one should be at ok standard.
I also changed the title and summary, I thought they weren't that good so I changed them to the best of my ability.
Jotaro is way more paranoid than canon, I want to convey he thinks everyone is a potential enemy.
Criticism is very helpful and appreciated, thanks for the favourites and follows.
Chapter 2: Breakfast
It's early morning. The rising blaring sun is beating down through the enormous rectangular window, located in the middle of the notably cramped hall.
My sister and I are sprawled uncomfortably on our old mattress. Most students have already left for this... vague initiation. I tried reading into it but they do not let information about this place leak, makes sense this is basically an outfit dedicated to training child soldiers. Not that I can judge... grandpa did bring me and Kakyoin to kill a homicidal vampire, we were seventeen.
I get as comfortable as I can and just lay on the mattress staring at the old ceiling of the immense hall, deep in thought. I'm trying my best to come up with the best possibility of what the 'initiation' could be, Yang's loud annoying snoring going off beside me.
It's most likely a team exercise, crossing off a trial of strength and skill due to the fresh students requiring that to be here in the first place.
A team exercise is most likely the best 'test.', Most hunters work in 'teams' from what I've heard but I cannot rule out anything. I will never rule out anything again, it's what led me to 'death'.
Forming a team will... lead to disaster for me... the only thought that comes up when the word 'team' is involved are my dead comrades, ...to deal with that would be... annoying, to say the least.
My first priority is to find [Stand] users, and initiation is my greatest lead. An act of desperation or so, might lead to someone using a [Stand], it's just hope and a theory but I'm still not ready to accept this as... my reality.
"Aughhh!" Yang lets of a colossal yawn, stretching her arms in a wide arc, her light-purple-eyes blearily open in exaggerating slowness. Tch, you don't have to put on a show you annoying bitch.
"Moring, Rubes" Yang practically mumbles still half-asleep.
I give a small nod to acknowledge her sentence my posture stiff and stoic.
Abruptly Yang starts swinging her arms out in an arc, then slaps her face with moderate effort. The impact causes her to look more conscious.
"Welp, we better get some grub then head to the initiation, or whateverM", She's rubbing her hands together. A wide happy grin is sporting itself on her face.
"...right" I hesitantly reply unimpressed., It would be best to split up from her to cover all [Stand] suspects.
But I already have a significant list of possible suspects... I suppose it couldn't hurt.
I tilt my pure black cap down a small faint smile forming on my face from fondness. Annoying bitch.
I do not want to follow behind Yang... she may try something... annoying, like harassing that Blake-girl or something.
...I already predicted this, thankfully I found the canteen when I was looking around yesterday.
I gesture for Yang to follow not even looking back at her, while I slowly walk to the location.
The cafeteria is decently large, having to fit all student-years in means it has to be proportional.; So I wasn't shocked at the size. In my old life, my dad was a well-paid musician, so I've been to bigger 'feasts' before.
I managed to find a modest clean food-table, corner of the room, completely empty. Being a little late has worked to our advantage.
"Sho, yough dogt hunth aoyh truong, I cansh helsh youghh luterhm wichum tuht forgu noghum I'lfgl prdsfect yuchu soo relumply oghn ynchour biughg siusser ", Yang says something... unreadable due to the enormous amount of food in her mouth.
"Swallow before you speak" I reply in a flat tone, silver-eyes staring at her unimpressed.
"I said, you don't have any training, I can help you later with that but for now I'll protect you, so rely on your big sister", she points a thumb at herself with a huge grin splitting her face.
"Hmm?... I should be fine, ...thanks" I let out a hesitant and awkward reply. When Yang acts similar to how my previous mum did, ...it's off-putting, to say the least.
"Yeah, yeah. I know with your mysterious 'Semblance'...". Yang makes quotation marks at the word Semblance, her expression is one of disbelief.; "You'll be fine, I know..., but I still worry, about my lil-Ruby"
So annoying,... I reluctantly begin to eat my own food... it's good.
After around three or so bites, I notice a young slim man with black hair adorned with a pink strand, his intense eyes a unique shade of pink. He's being dragged by an equally young woman, ginger hair covering her freckled face, her eyes-green like emeralds.
..., they're headed our way, could they be a [Stand User] sent to... remove me?.
"Hey, heeeey, hey. Caaaan we sit here with youuu, pwease?", the ginger one of the duo screeches out something aggravating.
Annoying, she could be a [Stand User] trying to get me off guard, but I heavily doubt it. Best not to rule it out, just in case.
Yang looks at my irritated expression recognising my annoyance but seeing an opportunity for... 'friends',
"Yo, of course, you can, you two sit right next to my cute little sister. Right there.", So annoying, she's pointing to my side of the seat, a huge grin on her face.
The guy of the duo lets out a short irritated sigh while the girl of the duo has both hands grabbing him in a deranged way.
"Sorry if Nora is bothering you two, we can leave right now, if you prefer?." The guy says while looking regretful.
"Yeah... if you could get the annoying bitch away.., that would be great." I grunt out.
You could hear a pin drop with the silence that followed, my sister looks at me with barely concealed disappointment. The redhead of the duo looks shocked and hurt and the guy has an enraged expression, so annoying.
"Yeah I think we will", the male teen practically spits out in anger., "Nora let's leave, this miserable... girl", tch, you asked if I wanted her gone.
"Sorr-sorry" the ginger sputters out an apology.
He grabs the girl by the arm reversing their position and drags her off, the girl looks like she's about to cry.
As they leave for a different spot., I can feel Yang's lilac-orbs burn into my head.
"Whhhy? just why Ruby?", Yang practically mewls out in defeat.
"They were annoying" I bluntly answer.
"You barely knew them for ten-seconds, how in the hell could they have been annoying?. Did they look at you 'funny' or something equally as stupid?", the frustration is leaking out heavily at the end of her sentence.
I just shrug as a response, this causes Yang to stare at the ceiling and silently scream in exasperation. Why is she so annoyed? shit like this has happened before and she didn't care nearly as much.
After everything settles in and we get back to eating without a peep from the aggravating duo., Yang glances at me from time to time in... worry?.
"Well, you made a friend, right? why not try and team up with them during initiation", Yang's referring to Blake. I'm against the idea, I don't know her well enough, I would call us friendly-acquaintance's at most.
"No" I disinterestedly reply to Yang, her already dim expression falls a bit more.
When I finish the last bite of my breakfast, I stiffly get up from my comfortable seat.
"Oi!, it's time", I shout to get Yang's attention, she's currently glued to her scroll.; A device I have no interest in, it's... a little too technologically advanced for my liking.
She reluctantly puts her scroll down and stretches her arms out in an annoying fashion, loudly yawning, giving me a thumbs-up and a smile.
...Yare, Yare Daze.
I had to aggravatingly wait for Yang to find her locker., I don't understand why she doesn't just keep her weapon on her. It may sound paranoid but... I would keep my only means of defence on me at all times if I was in her position.
After seeing the blonde-prick, Jaune, get speared through a wall my day felt a tad less annoying.
Due to my information gathering, we found the initiation spot within a few minutes, the place it's located is... suspicious. It's just over-looking the 'Emerald' forest, a place over-run with different types of Grimm.
Not a place fresh recruits should be anywhere near, very suspicious.
All the 'hunters and huntresses in training' are here, We're all lined up on some kind of mechanism, a launch device most likely.
In front of us stands the 'headmaster, Ozpin, a very shady individual, from his too-small glasses that don't fit his face probably, to the fact he can command or overwrite the authorities. Very unsettling, I should have been taken to custody by the police force, after Torchwick but I ended up in a school...
It doesn't add up.
Hmm? I almost missed the old hag., Some blonde-haired bitch called Glynda Goodwitch, I don't have much information on her... but she does annoy me.
"For years you have trained to become warriors and toda-.", The message Ozpin is giving holds something that doesn't apply or affect me, so I drone the old man out.
Yare, Yare Daze., Beacon is the best path to take for what I need, but it's infuriatingly annoying.
After the old man finishes his drawn-out speech., Glynda takes over, hmm?.
"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumours about the assignment of teams.", I focus on what the bitch is saying, it's most certainly significant.
"Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion, each of you will be given team-mates, today.", Annoying but not unexpected.
Ozpin finishes the bitches explanation, the most important part is the first person we make eye-contact with will be our partner for the next four-years., If needed I can use [Star Platinum], to cheat, using his eyes to guide me.
The only other notable information being 'relics'. Which we will have to find. so we can pass this shitty-test.
I tune out the annoying murmurs from the 'students'.
I know, I need to have a partner or 'fail'. Which won't lead to me finding anything that could help me get out of this hell-hole.
"Oi, Ruby, you okay", Yang whispers loudly next to me.; My current expression must have given away my infuriation.
"Fine, just... in thought.", I mutter a grunt back.
"Are there any questions?.", The old man is staring intently at both me and Yang as he says this., So annoying.
Yang bashfully rubs the back of her head but gives a cheery thumbs-up. She puts on some cool looking aviators. Hm?, I didn't know she had something so thrifty looking.
The first platform goes off as the Weiss-girl is launched into the air at a breakneck velocity, towards the deadly forest.
Hmm? is this legal?. I feel Ozpin has some skeletons buried in his closet, very fucking shady.
Jaune has his hand raised and is muttering some shit to the old man, something about a parachute, nothing important.
I tilt my cap down, shadowing my eyes.
Yare, Yare Daze.
A few more students are launched at impossible speeds., Hmm?.; from the pace they are going I can think of two 'landing strategies' that will be effective.
I also see no students using [Stands], annoying but also presumed.
Yang gives me a giant thrilled smile as she's launched, it seems to be me next.
I prepare for my security, suddenly I feel the air around me constraint as I'm ejected at a swift rate. The golden chain on my uniform starts fluttering about as I hold onto my hat.
Doing the flying-shit I learnt when fighting DIO will not go down too well., And with all eyes, on me, it will paint a bigger target on my back than my 'semblance' already has, it's out the question.
So, that leaves me with a strategy. That always gets me through.
I'm recklessly approaching the ground, dense with trees and shrubs.
As I'm a fraction from the grassy floor I precisely summon [Star Platinum].
[Star Platinum] aims both his fists, moments away from the green ground.
"Ora, Ora, Ora, Ora, Ora, Ora, Ora, Ora, Ora, Ora, Ora, Ora", his fists rapidly punch the ground with mighty vigour, stronger than steel. Slowing my momentum and causing grass to fly everywhere being replaced by dirt upon the area punched at.
As his fists slow down so too do I, I manage to land comfortably enough. My hands are in my jacket pockets, my left one holding onto the gun given to me by my dad.
It could be useful, probably... not.
Hmm? the area I've landed is the best I could calculate, the 'relics' should be west from here.
My eyes wander around the dense forest, staying ever-vigilant., When I look a little east my eyes find a rather white looking dress, looking further up shows a scar belonging to... Wiess.
Shit.
