I am so sorry everyone! I haven't abandoned anything, it was just that for a long time writing wasn't fun anymore and I was so busy that I didn't prioritize my happiness of creating any content for all of you or myself. Now that summer is coming up for me, I will try and carve out times to finish all of my stories and start some new ones for you all. So without further ado, I would like to introduce the third chapter of The Single Father and the Pizza Man, as always I own none of these rights and I purely do this using the content of the wonderful creators of Supernatural.
"So Cassie how has my favorite little bro been?" Gabriel asks as he reclines on the couch gnawing on his latest lollipop.
An hour ago, Castiel had peace and quiet. An hour ago, his brother hadn't yet barged in like he had owned the place. But that was short-lived when Gabriel Novak, the fourth youngest of the Novak family decided it would be a good idea to leave his wonderful life in New York to visit his brother. Gabriel was considered a modern-day Wolf of Wall Street because he could sweet-talk just about anybody into buying just about anything. It had started way back when they would hold overpriced lemonade stands on the corner of their block and be sold out in a little under an hour. And now, his ever so slick brother was sitting in Castiel's living room. "Why are you here Gabriel? Come to convince me to buy a stock? I'm not listening if all you're here for is to make a quick buck."
Gabriel gasps as if he's been punched in the stomach. Still the drama queen of the family, Castiel muses as his older brother jumps from his chair and sets his sticky hands on his brother's shoulders. Castiel resisted the urge to cringe as his brother spoke. "Cassie I would never swindle you like one of my regular old clients!" He sets his hands on his hips now and offers a sly smirk, "I'd have to try a lot harder with you."
Castiel rolls his eyes before hearing Amara let out a wail. He rushes upstairs with Gabriel hot on his heels. He mentally kicks himself because he forgot that he hadn't told any of his family in New York about her. They hadn't even approved of his relationship with Daphne, so they hadn't shared with them that she became pregnant. He would bet money on if his parents threw a party when she died.
When Cas enters his daughter's room, she quiets down as her father picks her up, and appears to cock her head to the side when her uncle peers over his shoulder. "What the hell?" Gabriel was completely dumbfounded.
"We never told the family because everyone hated Daphne. She died during childbirth, I just told you all she passed in her sleep and there would be no funeral so you wouldn't come down and see Amara. I don't need mom and dad corrupting her like they did our brothers. It was a miracle neither of us turned out as fucked up like them."
"You've been hiding her all this time?"
Cas nods, "I just wanted to raise her as my own instead of being forced to return to New York. Lebanon is so much quieter and there aren't as many fumes for her to breathe in. She'll be happier and healthier here, and so will I. You know I never felt at home in the city."
Gabriel nods soberly, "yes I remember. Not a day goes by that I forget how hard it was for you in that house. For many reasons."
They stand for a moment before Castiel turns his head, "would you care to hold her for a while?"
Gabriel balks, "you'd let me hold her?"
Cas nods, "yes, I think you would both enjoy it."
His older brother swallows thickly before nodding his head. Castiel transitions his daughter into her uncle's arms and smiles to himself as he watches Gabriel's tension slowly leak from him as he holds Amara. Gabriel had always been there for Cas; when their brothers got a little too annoyed, when he came out and his parents took it out on him, and when his first boyfriend broke his heart. Gabriel was the only member of his family that cared if he was alive or dead for anything other than the insurance. As Castiel watched his brother lovingly hold his daughter, he felt his phone ringing in his back pocket. "I'll be right back."
Castiel stepped out of the nursery, closing the door behind him. He didn't bother to check the caller ID, answering the phone with a gruff, "hello?"
"Hey Cas, it's Dean."
Castiel's heart did a flip. "Oh, hello Dean. To what do I owe this call?"
"I'm sorry man, probably kinda random. But I didn't see your text from last night until now. My brother's in town ya know, and we had a bit of an uh…difficult? Discussion? Last night? I don't know, anyway I didn't check my phone and by the time we were done I was so many beers in that I passed out without looking. So, you wanna write a book about me?"
"Well yes, I was having writer's block last night and thought of you and-."
"Oh, you thought of me?" The younger man cuts him off midsentence and Castiel could practically hear the smirk in his voice. "This book isn't gonna be a porno, is it? Cuz what if your daughter were to find it one day?"
The poor author chokes on his own saliva as Dean cackles on the other end of the line, "w-what? N-n-no! Dean! I-I would never do-do that!" Castiel tries to get out as he pounds his chest to breathe.
"Cas! I'm just messin' with ya pal! But instead of tellin' me all the details now, would ya like to discuss it tonight? My brother's out with some friends a few towns over and I know I'm your babysitter, so how about I come over and cook for you and the squirt?" If this had been a video call, Cas would've seen Dean pacing a hole into the floor and wringing his t-shirt so tightly out of nerves that it was about to tear.
Castiel's eyes go wide as he listens to the proposal, and he almost waits for a beat too long to respond. "O-oh! Yes! I would love to tell you the details tonight, my own family member is visiting but getting him out of the house would be a personal pleasure. What time are you free?"
Dean lets out a breath he was very aware he was holding. "Anytime you are Cas."
"Would 7 be alright? Gabe will want to be out partying by then."
Dean lets out a huff of amusement, already getting the feeling the two brothers were polar opposites. "I would love that Cas, I'll go out and get some groceries in a little bit and head on other there."
"That would be amazing Dean, I'll see you then." Castiel smiles, feeling the heat creep up his face.
"See ya Cas." Dean hangs up and pounds his fist in the air.
