Dimensional Hoppers

Chapter 3

"Intruders!?"

"Someone alert the guards!"

Well, shit, we're in for it now, aren't we? I looked around the bacilicom taking in my surroundings, from what I saw we were in some sort of waiting room. Fancy seats everywhere, with all sorts of people on them, they probably would be bored out of their minds right about now or sleeping. But with the 'accidental' fiasco I just caused, well, it looks like they all just got hit in the head with a truck.

"Really Derek?! What in the world was that for?!" I looked back to see Chester with a face full of anger and confusion. Before he continued he pointed to the now broken large double doors at our sides. "You not only made yourself look like a madman, but you broke the doors!"

I frowned while crossing my arms, "Look, I just wanted to vent out my frustration with the guard before alright? Didn't think I was strong enough to burst open shit like this." Continuing on I pointed towards the doors with a cheeky smile. "On the bright side, we have some idea on how strong we are now."

His eye seemed to twitch at that comment. "You're an asshole, you know that?"

"Whoa watch the language there Chester, what would your mother think?" I held back a laugh at his plight.

Before I could continue messing with Chester for revenge, what looked to be at least 20 people in white and purple robes with really fancy-looking rifles were surrounding us.

One of the men who looked to have an even fancier robe with glowing purple accents shouted at us. "What is your purpose here miscreants?! Answer now or we will be forced to use lethal force!"

Looking around us I saw that we were completely surrounded, how in the world did that happen? Guess I was too distracted messing with Chester to notice, but shit man. Looking more closely at the rifles they were carrying I noticed they glowed with a weird hum to them, hell, are those fucking laser weapons?

Before I could try and diffuse this shit-show Chester beat me to it. "Whoa, please put the guns down alright?! We aren't here to harm anyone or anything!" Putting a hand on my shoulder he continued. "My friend here is just a little agitated at some treatment we got at the gate!"

Surprisingly the now dubbed commander of the purple robes round table didn't believe us. Who would have thought? "You think I'll fall for something like that? That your friend was just a little agitated and decided to blow open this door with explosives!? Guards, take aim!"

Tensing up I got into a crouched stance with my fists up, my heart suddenly started pounding at my chest. I thought it would be out of fear, but, for some reason, I couldn't get this smile off my face. "I really fucked up this time, didn't I Chester?"

Chester looked back at me with the same expression, only with a hint of fear. "Yea, you really messed up big time," taking the same stance as me he continued. "If we make it out of this alive, you owe me big time, for getting us into this scheisse."

Chuckling I looked back onto our impending doom. "Yeah sure, whatever ya need."

This situation really was the worst. Derek breaks what seems to be government property, somehow making the guards think it was an explosion. Trying to convince them that we meant no harm didn't work and now we're facing what seems to be religious guards with laser rifles pointed at our heads. I really did hate the 1st of April, the craziest stuff can happen sometimes.

I was really afraid right now, maybe if they just had normal pistols I would be more confident, why you may ask? Well mostly for the reason of our enhanced durability, since it allows us as of right now to be bulletproof, for the most part anyway, but lasers? Well, I'm not so confident when it comes to science fiction weaponry.

So here we are seconds away from doom, and even though I was afraid, I also felt a lot of excitement from my very blood. I guess having Saiyan DNA can have its perks when it comes to the mind, really helping me not pass out from fear right now. Before I could continue further with my thoughts, the weapons on the guards started to hum brighter, almost reaching a climax.

This is it, this is where I die, well, at least I died a Saiyan. Everything was halted though, a voice shouted ahead of us, inside the bacilicom. "Everyone, stop, please! Don't fire!"

The whirling of the guns suddenly came to a halt, making me relax, we're safe for now. Though I can't help but feel disappointed at this development for some odd reason.

Back to the voice, I heard from before, there seemed to be a tiny person heading towards us, on a floating book. I was admittedly confused beyond belief since I'm pretty sure tiny fairy look-alikes on what is equivalent to the magic carpet, don't exist. Though I guess this is a completely different world, so I shouldn't have been so surprised. But, I have this nagging feeling that this is weird even in this world.

Once she got closer to us I took a better look at her. Blond twin-tail hair with blue eyes with white skin and a small purple dress with a light blue tie held on by a pin. She also wore white leggings that looked to be connected to equally white shoes, which seemed to have glowing light blue dots on the top of the shoe. Lastly, she had a white had with purple ribbons connected to it, though the weirdest thing was the futuristic robotic-looking wings behind her back.

All in all, I can safely say that my eyesight and attention to detail have improved way too much since becoming a Saiyan.

The little fairy Aladdin finally reached us and looked to be out of breath. Either floating somehow is tiring to her or screaming out your lungs like that will leave you with little air. Probably the second option. Once she regained her breath she spoke. "Honestly, I go away to check on things for one second and already things have gone bad."

Turning around to face the supposed lead guard, the little fairy looked frustrated. "Were you about to open fire in the bacilicom!? You should know better with civilians around!"

The guard pointed an accusing finger at Derek. "I'm sorry lady Histoire, but that fugitive used explosives to blow open the bacilicom door! We couldn't risk them pulling out anything dangerous!"

The now dubbed Histoire didn't seem too pleased with that. "Is this true?"

The guard pointed at the broken doors. "Yes! Take a look for yourself, as you can see the-" Before he could continue he stopped himself when he really took a look at the doors. "There… there aren't any marks but a foot-shaped dent?"

Derek finally decided to speak up after chucking a bit. "You bet your ass there's a foot-shaped dent, it wouldn't be there if I hadn't kicked that door down, like a mothing fucking boss."

I face-palmed while groaning at his choice of words. "Really Derek? How do you think that'll help us any better?"

Histoire turned towards Derek looking like a deer caught in headlights. "That's quite the shock, still," turning towards the head guard again with an authoritative voice. "I don't think firing arms in this area was warranted, you make sure this doesn't happen again, are we clear?"

The guard looked stupified for a moment before putting his head down in shame. "Yes ma'am," The head guard pulled his head back up in our direction with a neutral face. "You two, surrender peacefully, I still don't believe your excuse so you're coming with us."

Stopping Derek before he could go full-on 'you'll never take me alive!' mode I spoke first. "Fine, but first, could you please stop pointing those guns at us? I don't really feel safe here." Derek nodded along with my request.

Sighing the head-guard signalled for the weapons to go down. "Alright, but know this, one funny move and it's your heads." Histoire coughed rather harshly at the comment. "I-I mean, we'll have to lock you up."

"Good, now If you'll excuse me I have work to get back to, don't cause trouble okay?" With that Histoire, the little twinkle fairy of Alladin floated away to the back of the bacilicom. After that whole commotion all of the eyes on his suddenly vanished, people seemingly lost interest in the crazy situation.

Signalling us to follow the head-guard spoke. "Alright this way, we're taking you into questioning, and no don't worry, if there really aren't criminals then we won't lock you up," he looked towards the doors before continuing. "Although you're still going to have to pay for those doors."

"Shit," Derek swore, I couldn't help but laugh at that. "Hey, stop laughing. Might be my fault that we ended up in this situation but at least I didn't give that shit-stain of an excuse."

Calming myself down I gave a cheeky smile. "Yea, yea, not like you could come up with better firework."

His face seemed to turn red at that. "What was that you piece of shit!?"

Walking ahead of him with my hands behind my back I continued. "You heard me right, firework, you've got such a short fuse, Derek."

Forcing himself to calm down Derek caught up with me keeping pace. "Shove it." Well as calm as he can normally be.

Following the head guard with his guard mates behind us, we ended up in a surprisingly colourful room. Big carpet on the floor with a really long U-shaped couch on top. A glass table in front with a flatscreen tv further from there. Around the back of the room, there was a small kitchen with all sorts of stuff to make coffee and the like. Seems like we were taken to a break room of sorts.

Turning around the head-guard waved his hand around the room. "Please take a seat on the couch, we've got some coffee if ya need and some snacks if you're hungry." Both me and Derek looked towards each other with faces of confusion, before looking back at the guard. "Don't give me those looks, we don't have an integration room here since we aren't the police, plus after calming down I deduced you guys are probably not criminals."

Turning and walking in the direction of the kitchen he continued. "If I'm correct you two are from another world, right?"

To say I was shocked was kind of an understatement. "How!?"

Derek was also shocked, although he seemed to take it a bit differently. "Man, we've got a Sherlock Holmes in the building, well shit."

Getting what seemed to be a cup of coffee he invited us to a table. "Here, sit. This might take a while."

Trying to get over my shock I caught up to Derek who wasted no time in finding the best chair. As for the other guards, "Men, take a break, I think we've had enough to deal with for this hour." Saluting the guards helped themselves to the fridge and literally crashed onto the couch, blasting the tv's volume. "Ah great, keep it quiet will you guys?"

Coughing into his hand the guard introduced himself. "Sorry for the late introduction but I'm James, head guard for Planeptunes bacilicom."

Taking this as a cue I introduced both of us. "Again, sorry for the commotion my friend caused. My name is Chester and my friend here is Derek."

Derek pointed to himself kicking his feet up on the table. "The fucking only"

James sighed at Derek's antics before continuing. "Alright, let's start with how I know you two are from another world, it's simple, those bracelets you have on proved it."

Bringing up my hand to look at the bracelet I sent a questioning gaze at him. "How so?"

Pointing at my bracelet James continued. "A fun fact about those bracelets was why they were created, to keep it short some 100 years ago there was an influx of people appearing out of nowhere."

Crossing his arms he continued. "They all didn't speak our language and from what we got through a lot of trial and error we found out they were from another world. One thing lead to another and some scientists created bracelets that would help these strange people understand and speak with us."

Pointing towards us he smirked. "Now after that, not many showed up but still a decent amount, so we've kept these bracelets for any more people that happen to appear in our world, like you two." Frowning right after he sighed. "Although you two must come from some crazy place, to be that strong and look that weak? The crazy world you two must have lived in huh?"

Sweating a bit I nervously chuckled. "Yea, crazy world."

Derek spoke up. "So I'm guessing they don't come from the same world, right?"

James shook his head. "No, all from different worlds from what I've heard, though surprisingly all of them appear to be human. So at least we don't have crazy aliens running around." Shaking his head a bit he continued. "Though the sudden surge of people really did mess with the 4 nations."

"Speaking of… do you mind telling us where we are? We originally came here to find that out, but," I looked towards Derek, face full of shame. "My friend here made that difficult." All I got to show for it was a middle finger to the face.

"Yea he seems to be quite the troublesome friend of yours." Clearing his throat he continued. "Alright, to keep it short your in Gameindustri, in the nation, Planeptune, ruled by the 'goddess Purple Heart', or so we say."

Confusion was apparently my friend today. "Goddess? What do you mean by 'or so we say'?"

Derek put his penny in on it. "Yea sounds interesting, are they smoking hot?"

James groaned at Derek's response before ignoring it. "Yes, Goddess. There are 4 of them: Purple Heart of Planeptune, White Heart of Lowee, Green Heart of Leanbox and Black Heart of Lastation." Taking a breath he continued. "All of them rule their respective lands but, we haven't seen them since the influx of other-worlders 100 years ago."

Another sigh escaped him, "Plus, recently there's been an influx of monsters appearing ever since their disappearance, forcing the nations to up their military, even adding other-worlders to their ranks."

I grimaced at the situation this world was in. "Well, that doesn't bode well at all, monsters, over-population and world leaders disappearing."

Waving it off James continued. "Nah, honestly the only problem we have right now is over-population. The monsters themselves haven't been too much of a problem since of our increased numbers and improved defences, no doubt you've seen the wall?" I nodded in agreement.

"Thought so, anyways, I usually don't give people history lesions and all that but I felt like I owed it to you folks for almost blasting you two kingdom come."

I smiled in appreciation at his reasoning. "Thanks, we'd probably be more lost without you to be honest."

James waved it off. "No big deal, now," Pointing at our bracelets again he continued. "Keep those things on you, they automatically make identification and a bank account for you, makes it simple for you people to get situated into our society." A little smirk popped up on his face. "If you were to check your balance right now I'd say it's below zero since you broke our doors."

Frowning at that I spoke. "I know we've been a bother and all but do you know of any way we could get cash quickly?"

Crossing his arms James contemplated for a second before responding. "Yea there might be one way, the guild."

Derek rose an eyebrow at that. "A guild? What, like in those RPG games?"

James sighed. "Why do you people always compare it to that? Seriously no matter the world it's the same thing." Clearing his throat he continued. "A guild is a place where guild agents take care of monsters outside of our area of protection, they're also used to fight monsters the military can't handle."

Tilting my head to the side I questioned. "You're recommending this position to us because?"

Smiling, James pointed towards Derek. "If your as strong as your friend here then you two should be just fine handling monsters, plus the money that comes from being a guild against will pay for the doors rather quickly."

Derek spoke up interested in the offer. "Alright," nodding towards me for approval, I obliged. "We're in, how do we sign up? Or rather where do we sign up?"

Smiling James told us the details. "All you've got to do is head towards the guildhall, it's not too far from here, just head left when you exit and you'll find it after a little walking." Continuing on he added more. "Once you arrive just get to the reception and they'll set you all up."

James turned towards his guards signalling that their break was over before turning back to us. "With that our break is over, we've got to get back on patrol for any other people planning to bust up our bacilicom." Derek huffed at that comment looking away.

I spoke up getting the hint from James. "We'll get out of your hair then, thanks for the info though, really appreciate it."

Standing up and signalling for us to follow he spoke up. "Yea, no problem. Here come with me, I'll walk you two out."

With that, we followed James out the break room and down the hall, on the way we met with Histoire again who seemed to be a little exhausted since the last time we saw her. James informed her of our situation and she understood, thanking him for not being harsh on us.

After we left the hall and were back at the bacilicom doors James saw us off. "Alright, this is as far as I go. You two make sure you head to the guild and make sure you don't break anything else, I'm looking at you, Derek." Derek responded with a middle finger before walking ahead of me towards the direction of the guild. "Well can't say I didn't deserve that, though he could probably take that stick out of his rear."

Sighing at Derek's antics I waved James off before catching up to Derek. "You seem a little grumpy right now, mind telling me why?"

Lifting his head up and hands out of his pockets Derek responded. "Well other than everything that's happened so far? I feel very fucking hungry right now. Just want to get to that guild and get enough money to buy some shit to eat."

Rubbing my stomach a bit I noticed that I was also hungry. "That makes two of us."

"There it is, they make it kinda obvious, don't they?"

"Yea, holy shit, big sign and everything."

When James said it would be a short walk, I think our definitions of short were massively different. Either that or he meant it would be short without the sheer amount of people around us, also trying to get by. All in all, it took us at least 30 minutes to arrive here, really loving the idea of flying right now.

Sighing Derek went on ahead inside the guild. "Really loving the idea of flying right now, walking around is already getting on my fucking nerves."

Following him inside I decided to mess with him. "You can read minds? I just said that in my head a moment ago! I didn't know you already knew how to use ki!"

Derek whipped his head around, shock on his face. "Wait, you can read fucking minds with ki?! Why didn't you tell me this shit?!"

Walking past him I chuckled a bit. "Oh, so it was a coincidence hm? Never mind then."

Derek grumbled. "You're such a bitch, how many abilities are you keeping from me?"

Ignoring Derek's grumbling I took in the surroundings. Of course, while I messed with Derek we had gained a bit of attention. Although, after a few seconds of everyone seeing the commotion to have died down they went back to whatever they were doing.

Looking around I noticed how different this place looked from the bacilicom, while that place was fancy with a religious feel spilled all over it. The guild felt in place with the futuristic city outside, metal walls and floors, with round tables and chairs all around.

Those tables and chairs surprisingly were floating, even with them seeming to be made of metal. Holographic screens were placed all around detailing information that I couldn't place together right now.

Turning my attention towards what looked like reception I signalled Derek to follow me. "Hey Derek, come on I see a line over there, lets get in."

Derek furrowed his brows while following me to the line. "More lines? Great, at least it doesn't look as long as the fucking last one."

After waiting in line for about 10 minutes we were next for a booth to go to. "Alright, can the next person in line come to booth 7 please?"

Derek walked on ahead of me taking one of the two seats. "Ah fuck yes, my lucky number Chester. Got a good feeling about this."

Sitting on the second seat I frowned. "Well, let's hope so, last time you got us almost killed. Hadn't it been for that Histoire girl there we really would have died."

Derek brushed it off. "Yea, yea, we're here, aren't we? Plus if it hadn't been for me we wouldn't have gotten so much info in the first place, it seemed like the bacilicom was packed."

Agreeing with him, I turned towards a frustrated female receptionist. "You two done speaking gibberish? If you want I can send you to the back of the line since both of you clearly don't need anything from me."

Frowning a bit I apologized. "Really sorry ma'am, we were just distracted for the moment."

The receptionist sighed before looking at her holo-gram computer. "Alright, what can I do for you two? Turning in a quest or something?"

This time Derek took the lead. "Nah, nothing like that. We're actually here to register for the guild, we're new here and all."

The receptionist returned an annoyed expression. "Great, well this is going to be a pain, alright all we need is your identification. I'm assuming you guys want to get paid so we'll need your bank account information too."

Holding up my bracelet I rose a brow in question. "Couldn't we just scan our bracelets here to make it easier?"

The receptionist's face was filled with relief. "Oh good, you two aren't from around here, this actually makes things so much easier."

Derek held out his bracelet asking a question. "So wait, why do only us other-worlders have these bracelets? Why can't you make this for normal people?"

Taking a scanner from under her desk she scanned both our bracelets before answering the question. "Well, I don't really know myself, though I can say it probably has to do with a budget they have. If we made it for everyone then it'd cost more you know?"

Derek sighed. "Well, at least we have them, really fucking convenient if you ask me."

The receptionist nodded her head before working on our registration. "Done, this bracelet stuff makes all this so much quicker, now before you ask any questions." She turned around to face us with a bored expression. "This is textbook so, if you want to accept any quests you go to that screen over there in the corner, turning in a quest has to come through us directly. Now, any questions?"

Derek smirked before speaking. "Yea just one, where can I find your number? Can't seem to find it on your cute face."

The receptionist's face blushed slightly before coughing in her hand. "Not interested, maybe you could run it by my boyfriend?"

Derek kept his smirk while I winced. "Ouch, blunt and there's a boyfriend wall? Really thought I could get lucky."

The receptionist sighed before handing us 2 cards. "Well I guess it's not your lucky day pal, now I'm guessing that's all you need, here are your guild cards as proof of membership, other than that have a good day."

Taking our cards I left with a polite goodbye and thanks while Derek left with a wave. With our cards in hand, Derek followed me to the screen in the corner, inspecting it I found that I could still read the language pretty well.

While looking through supposed quests I decided to speak up. "I don't know why you still try with the ladies Derek, your luck with them has never been great you know?"

Derek frowned but quickly gained a smirk. "Like you can talk, every girl you've tried to hook up with has always put you in the friend-zone."

I crossed my arms huffing. "It's their fault that they misread my kindness."

His smirk only widened. "Even when you continue to be their friend huh?"

Turning my head I gave a smirk of my own. "Oh just shut it will you? At least I have them as friends, you on the other hand seem to only have me as your only friend." Turning back around I missed the look of mock hurt on his face.

"Ouch, the pain, it hurts me so." He chuckled right after before searching the quests with me.

Scanning the quests I took notice of some things. "Looks like those jelly-like dogs are called dogoo's, go figure huh?"

A little chuckle escaped Derek. "Yea, seems like we were in a place called Virtua Forest huh? Looks like those dogoo's are common there, plus there seem to be tulips, dogoo-mans and… boxer-Xs? This seriously feels like a weird-ass RPG."

Putting my hands to my hip I agreed. "Yea, you could say that again, feels like it's a whole video game world, especially with how those dogoo's died back in the forest."

Derek seemed to agree if his grunt was anything to go by. "Which quests should we do? I really don't know where to start with all of this, maybe just gun for the hard ones?"

I shook my head. "No, even with our enhanced abilities, I wouldn't feel safe until I know where we exactly stand right now, plus without us being able to wield ki, we're basically a gun without its bullet."

Derek sighed. "Yea, you've got a point, though I think both you and me can agree when I say I'm hoping for a fucking challenge."

Smirking I tapped on Derek's shoulder. "Yea agreed, but hey look at these quests, all from Virtua Forest, convenient for us huh?"

Derek smiled. "Yea, super fucking convenient, alright just accept those and we'll be off. I want to eat as soon as possible, my stomach is actually grumbling now."

Before we could set off to complete our first quests though, someone tapped me on the shoulder. "Hey, could you move over a bit? I'm trying to see the board."

Turning around I apologized. "Sorry for that, we were just about to head off anyway."

As soon as she saw my face her eyes widened like saucers. "Whoa, hold on, aren't you that guy who ran through all those dogoo's earlier? I remember you having someone else with you too."

Derek peaked from behind my back with a questioning look. "Who's asking?"

The mysterious girl gestured to herself before flipping her coat. "The names IF, the Windwalker of Gameinsudstri! What about you two?"

The now dubbed IF or Windwalker of Gameinsudtri, whatever that means, had a strange look to her. Not to say it was as weird as Histoires whole complexion, but still strange. She had a big blue coat on her with fur lining along the bottom, and when I say it was big, I mean big for her.

The coat itself was also open with a belt hanging along her waist and the coat itself, silver accents all over with silver buttons to match, even her sleeves had silver rings along the edge.

Other than her black and silver clothing underneath she had some short leggings with blue shoes that complete the whole picture. Besides the obviously oversized coat were her shoulder-length brown hair and leafy green eyes that matched her leafy bow. All in all, it was a strange look, though I guess it's just the jacket that's putting me off.

Trying to comprehend if this person was either crazy or being serious I gave out my name. "The name's Chester, and-"

Derek cut me off joining in on the crazy antics. "I'm Derek, the Monkey Fucking King! Yes, the fucking part is a part of the name."

Pinching the bridge of my nose I sighed, "and that's Derek," giving out a smirk in his direction I humoured him. "The Monkey King, otherwise known as loner extraordinaire."

Derek got a little pissy at that. "Hey! First of all, it's Monkey, Fucking, King, and second, I have you as a friend alright? 2 others if you count my parents."

IF stifled a laugh. "I don't think you can count your parents as friends."

Derek scrunched up his face. "Course you can, in fact, I would call them my best friends, alongside Chester here." Crossing his arms in satisfaction Derek continued. "So in a final fucking verdict I've got 3 best friends, probably more than you have, Windwalker."

Smiling to herself IF waved it off. "Yea, sure, whatever you say Monkey King." Before Derek could correct his 'title' again she turned towards me and continued on about before. "So anyway, you two must be some sort of veterans if you're having fun in a field full of monsters."

Frowning I replied. "No actually, we're not. We're actually newcomers to all of this, not just the guild and all but to this world."

IF tilted her head in question. "Oh? So you two are other-worlders huh? Honestly looking at how tall you two are, I should have guessed."

A look of understanding crossed her face. "Ah, you two probably didn't know how dangerous a dogoo can be huh? Let me tell you, they might look innocent and harmless, but, they've got some seriously acidic qualities to them, able to burn your skin off."

Slight fear crossed my face. "Well then, glad we didn't get any on our skin for too long."

Derek nodded. "Yea, although I don't think that could affect us anyway."

IF looked confused once more. "Why's that? You guys got some special armour where you're from?"

I chuckled a bit stepping in for Derek. "No, it's a bit more complicated than that, lets just say we're not normal."

IF replied sarcastically. "Oh wow, ominous." Before switching gears to neutral again. "If you don't want to share now then I won't pride into it."

IF sighed before putting her sleeves on her waist. "Anyways, I can't let two newbies who've got no idea what's what to go out alone," She sent a questioning gaze at us. "Although that's if you two would like the help?"

Count ourselves lucky, right when we want to test out our powers, someone walks up and decides to help us make sure we don't die. Maybe today isn't such a bad day after all huh?

Turning to Derek for confirmation he nodded in approval. "Well seems like Dereks up for it, quite the surprise if you ask me."

IF had a smile on her face before pulling out a pink flip phone. "Alright cool, where are we headed anyway?"

Derek started for the door waving back. "Virtua Forest, keep up alright? Don't want to waste any more time."

Texting some stuff into her phone she nodded in approval. "Good, looks like you guys aren't complete idiots, always start small I say." With that, she went to follow Derek out.

Standing there in slight shock I shook my head before following along. "Guess we won't discuss splits in payment huh?"
