Chapter 3: Meeting
Aizawa sipped his coffee as he walked to the teacher's room at UA, "Yo! You're early today," Mic, his best friend announced dragging Kayama along with him, "Couldn't sleep," Aizawa replied, "Am I the earliest one today?" he asked seeing Nedzu walking towards them.
"Seems so. The world must be upside down," Kayama grinned seeing Nedzu walk briskly toward them.
"Ah, Aizawa! Is everything well at home?" Nedzu chirped happily.
"...Yes. Why?"
"You're rarely so early!"
"Tch," Aizawa twitched, "Is it so unbelievable that I'm early?"
"Yes," they chorused. "Even Snipe isn't here yet and he wakes up at 6 in the morning!" Mic yelled to his friend who just grumbled and headed inside. He ignored Kayama and Hizashi gossiping about... something, he had no clue what they were talking about. Nedzu seemed to be quite unbothered by the two but Aizawa was getting a headache.
"Oh good, you guys are here finally," Snipe said seeing the group near the door of the staff room. Aizawa looked up to see all of his colleagues waiting outside, "Hah! I am not the earliest!"
Ectoplasm gave Aizawa a weird look, contemplating the man's sanity but shrugged it off as another one of his early morning antics, "The door is stuck. Even Kan can't open it with his brute force. I think there's a problem with the electronic lock,"
Nedzu frowned, "I just checked it yesterday. Here, let me see," he pushed aside the teachers and got to work on the tiny electronic keypad. He tried the passcode but the door didn't open. Frowning, he entered the override code, the door made a sound and pushed open without trouble, "Weird, that isn't supposed to happen,"
"Oi, there's someone here!" Nedzu heard Snipe's panicked voice. Nedzu turned to see Snipe take out his gun, ready to shoot, "Who are you!?" Snipe demanded.
Nedzu focused his enhanced eyes to see who the man in the dark was and smiled. Nedzu put up his hands, "Don't worry, he isn't a villain," Nedzu said to the teachers, all of whom who shared a confused look but nonetheless put away their weapons, "So, it's done?" Nedzu asked the shadowy figure.
The figure seemed to put down a cup, "Yes, it's done,"
The teachers stood in silence at the exchange of dialogue. They had no clue what to do and what the other person was talking about. They focused on Nedzu's expression instead. At first, Nedzu's face seemed... empty, followed by a sad smile which soon transformed into the most sadistic grin they had ever seen. That was followed by full-blown laughter, "That's good. It makes me happy!" Nedzu smiled.
"Oi, do you think he murdered someone or something?" Mic whispered to Aizawa who shrugged, quite interested at the turn of events.
"You should let some light in," Nedzu grinned and turned on the lights, "Oi wait-" The figure exclaimed but Nedzu had already turned on the lights to illuminate a half-standing Hisashi who had an annoyed expression, "Way to ruin my cool entrance," he huffed and sat back down to drink his tea.
"Who is he!?" Mic asked.
Nedzu's eyes glistened, "He is a top official in the police and one of my only friends, Midoriya Hisashi,"
"Aren't you the one who arrested Kamui, Backdraft, and Death Arms yesterday?" Kayama asked.
"Your point?" Hisashi asked coldly.
Kayama was taken aback at the iciness in Hisashi's voice but Aizawa intervened, "It was a good arrest. They overstepped their authority and weren't able to save the kid. On top of that, they scolded the other kid who tried to help and drove him away without medical clearance. The fact that it was all on camera but no one intervened just makes things worse,"
Hisashi blinked a few times before laughing uproariously, "Well maybe I judged you too quickly. Since Nedzu hired all of you, I'm sure none of you are like the other idiotic heroes,"
"Idiotic?" Mic asked.
"Egoistic, power-hungry, doesn't actually care about human life but only fame, that kind," Hisashi explained.
"For that matter, how did you get in?" Kan asked.
Hisashi snorted, "Please, the security here is so abysmal that a villain group could come in and go out without issue if they wanted,"
The teachers stiffened. UA's security was nowhere near lax. It was one of the best in the country, even better than some prisons, "It's only because it's you," Nedzu huffed.
"I've seen literal grocery stores with better security!"
"You mean the Yakuza stores?" Nedzu deadpanned.
"...Maybe. The point is, since I can get in, that means some villain probably can too," Hisashi replied.
Nedzu sighed, "Fine, I'll look into it. Shall we talk about the details of my case first?"
"Sure, your office?" Hisashi asked. Nedzu nodded and lead Hisashi to his office.
"Ok, that guy has to be super powerful to be friends with Nedzu. I didn't even know he had friends!" Mic exclaimed. Kayama only nodded
"Did anyone notice Nedzu said, 'his' case? What case could Nedzu have that he needed help with?" Snipe asked.
"Maybe he already did everything but just needed police for the arrest?" Ectoplasm offered.
"No, this Hisashi was capable of sneaking past UA's alarm system which means he isn't someone to be trifled with. It probably means he's that good too and Nedzu's case must have been that difficult," Aizawa pointed out.
"That's strange," Kan said.
"What?" Powerloader asked
"You know how police and heroes have a cross-platform to make it easier for us to keep up with criminals and remember which hero and police are who?"
"Yeah?"
"Well I searched for Hisashi and the guy is a phantom. There's no picture, date of birth, blood group, nothing. It's only his name and everything else is strictly classified. This guy is no joke!"
The teachers were surprised at that and stood in shock. They could only wonder what the hell they had walked into.
"So, my case is done after 10 years," Nedzu sighed, pouring himself a cup of tea.
"Yeah, we finally caught them in Switzerland. We shipped them back to Japan yesterday and sent them to Tartaros. They are set to be executed next week once court proceedings are over," Hisashi explained.
"And do I-"
"Yes, I talked with the Prime Minister today morning. He said he would ask the court to let you see the execution,"
Nedzu exhaled heavily and unconsciously touched his scar, "It feels really fulfilling," he replied.
"I know," Hisashi smiled.
"How's Izuku and Inko? I haven't visited them in case my torturers had people here who realized the connection,"
"That's... partly why I'm here. I need a favor," Hisashi said. Nedzu raised his eye, "Well, remember my son?"
Nedzu nodded as a bushy green-haired child bobbing his head came into mind, "Yeah. I met him a few times before you left,"
"Well, he was diagnosed quirkless,"
"Oh, I see," Nedzu said, "That must have been crushing in this day and age but there are a lot of options for him. In fact, he can even be a Pro without a quirk," Nedzu said happily.
Hisashi sighed, "He doesn't want to be a pro anymore. He wants to be police,"
"Oh? You must be proud,"
"I am but the thing is he did want to be a hero but he got bullied because of his quirklessness and that shattered his dream,"
Nedzu put down his teacup realizing that the conversation was taking a serious turn, "How bad?"
"Quirk-induced bullying, nearly killed and suicide-baited. But that's only the scratch of it,"
Nedzu's face grew grim, "I'm sorry. It only happened because you were away for my case and-"
"It's not your fault. Inko didn't realize he was getting bullied so all of us thought Izuku was doing fine. I would have asked you to check up on them otherwise," Hisashi cut him off.
Nedzu sighed, "Still..." He trailed off, "I assume you want my help?"
Hisashi nodded,
Nedzu sighed again, "But I'm not really sure if I can do anything. It's only a couple of bullies. There isn't anything for me to find out that the police can't,"
"That's not what I need help with," Hisashi explained, "The school that Izuku went to... they were just as bad,"
"...How bad?"
"Actively abusing the weaker quirked ones, neglecting them, encouraging them to commit suicide. This is only what Izuku has told me. I'm sure there's more to it,"
This time Nedzu broke the teacup he was holding. If one thing angered him, it was humans abusing other people, especially those who were supposed to protect them instead, like teachers and parents, "Do you have a warrant?"
"Yes. I have permission to access their digital databases and other records as well. So you can go all crazy and hack into their databases without consequence," Hisashi grinned evilly.
Nedzu nodded with a sadistic grin, "When are you doing the physical investigation?"
"It's already taking place,"
Nedzu eyed his friend suspiciously, "Why aren't you there?"
"Kenji said I'm too close to it and might present the opposition with an excuse to disregard the evidence. So he sidelined me and took Tsukauchi with him to investigate,"
"Ah, I see you have already met Tsukauchi then,"
"Briefly. Is he good?"
Nedzu nodded. After all, Tsukauchi was one of the only people who knew All Might's secret, "He has helped me in quite a few cases. In fact, if you hadn't come back, he would be at the top of the list as a candidate for commissioner,"
"He'll still be at the top. No way I'm taking the job of commissioner," Hisashi huffed.
Nedzu chuckled, knowing his friend's displeasure at taking responsibilities. Hisashi liked to be in control of things, but not so much that it took the fun out of things. Nedzu was quietly formulating a plan to investigate Aldera when he paled, "Hisashi. The raid will undoubtedly be a success,"
Hisashi nodded. Nedzu continued, "So, the staff will be arrested. And that means they will have to be presented to a court,"
"Yes,"
"So, I have to find everything on Aldera before the said court date?"
"Yes,"
"A court date which might be this Thursday for all we know?"
"Yes,"
Nedzu stared with horror, "That's not enough time!"
"Well, I did say I needed a favor. Now get to work my old friend! By the time you are done, there mustn't be nothing remaining of Aldera!"
Nedzu shook his head at his friend's antics, "And what are you going to do?"
"Hero commission," Hisashi looked out of the window.
"Already?"
"I wanted to take down hero commission too but the prime minister advised me to wait on it. They have too much power in their hands, courtesy of earlier administrations. As things are, police have the authority to oversee the commission but the idiots don't use the power because they think the heroes are stronger than them," Hisashi huffed, "So, I'm going to teach the idiots on how to be proper police,"
Nedzu's face puffed up in laughter, "You, a teacher? Bwahahaha,"
Hisashi growled slightly at that, "I'm not happy either, but it has to be done. I'll get going now. I have some other things to do,"
"Don't do anything illegal," Nedzu replied. Hisashi just stared blankly at Nedzu who grinned back in reply, "Oh, can I get other heroes on this?" Nedzu asked.
"Sure, just give me their names so I can add them to the investigation report. There might be a fuss otherwise," Hisashi replied.
Nedzu nodded with a smirk, "Already back and kicking up a storm, huh?"
Hisashi stopped halfway out the door and gave an eery smile, "It's only just beginning,"
