Chapter 3

*I am so so sorry for the late upload guys, I've been suffering a lot from major writers block and life has been so busy lately what with starting a new job and mental health stuff so if this chapter feels rushed I'm sorry..

Anyways, this chapter has like maybe a week time skip after the full moon and we get to see the better side of Lilith's personality aside from the alcoholic, so sit tight and enjoy!

I found myself sitting in my usual café in one of the bigger cities, laptop out as I scanned through my final documentation which I was assigned to draft up by my client.

He needed a specification for the changes I advised for his new security system, his pockets were deep but his persistent nature gave me more migraines than I could deal with.

It was mid morning on a Friday and it had been almost a week and a half since the last full moon, so my drinking wasn't as bad as normal even though I still stayed away from home as long as I could get away with, early this morning I'd decided to travel to one of the closer big cities to work the day away after finding I couldn't sleep.

I was drinking my second coffee when I heard my laptop chime with a new assignment.

I sighed heavily, glancing over it, perking an eyebrow at the locations.

"Now they want me to travel?" I scoffed, briefly reading over the assignment before turning to the window next to my table in thought.

Originally when I got my job they said they wanted me to work remotely since Iceland could be difficult to get out of if you didn't live near an airport, I agreed to it at first but like everyone my age or younger I wanted to explore more of the world.

The locations of the assignment was in Northern Canada at a university and the other was a small town high school in Washington called Forks, both of them needed their security systems scanned for flaws as both had recently suffered big security breaches, so they wanted to call in the best of the best.

It didn't take me long to email them back and forth to arrange transport, accommodation and a visa, sure enough within two hours mostly everything was arranged. I'd be staying on this project for at least a year and a half, which was longer than the rest of the projects I'd been tasked with before.

I stood up, stretching whilst I grabbed my coffee in one hand and my cigarette and lighter in the other, and headed outside for a smoke.

I pulled my faux fur jacket on and stood just outside, watching my gear from where I stood and quickly dropped a message to my mother explaining what I got offered.

I took a long drag from my cigarette before my ears perked up and I smirked before turning around and finding Felicity not too far away from me.

"Hey Lils!" she called as she walked towards me with a beaming smile. The girl practically bounced over to where I was, stealing my lighter to light her own smoke as she grinned, "Figured I'd find you here, couldn't sleep again?"

She offered me a sympathetic look, "Yeah, insomnia is a bitch, work is driving me nuts at the moment and then there's this new project work has given me, its a pretty big one," I took another drag, "they want me to travel to Canada and the USA, apparently they had some massive security breaches that their guys couldn't fix so they wanted to call in the best".

I gave her a smug grin before laughing as she did after lightly punching my arm, "You accepted it though, right?"

"Of course I did!," I exclaimed, "this is the best opportunity I've had yet but, not gonna lie I'm worried about being in a new country, leaving you guys out here to protect the village on your own, I know you guys are more than capable, it's just the project lasts for a whole year and I'm just hoping I don't turn or hurt anyone else,"

She wrapped her arms around my shoulders and squeezed me tightly, "Come on Lils, we both know you're way stronger than that, you are our alpha after all," she pulled back, handing back my lighter and taking a drag from her smoke, "Besides, you still need to find your mate, what better way than to go exploring another country? She's out there somewhere ya know".

I smiled and finished my cigarette, stubbing it out whilst staring at the cityscape around us.

"There's a party tonight at that club we used to go if you wanted to come, me and Luca are going, supposed to be rainbow themed with glow sticks and stuff, maybe a chance for you to just decompress," she said after a time, finishing her light as well before turning to me with a smirk on her face, "also a chance for you to find another way to have fun".

She winked as she wondered back inside to where my gear was, I rolled my eyes at her as we sat down and continued talking for the rest of the day.

"I'll pick you up at 6?" Felicity said as we were walking back through our village, it was around 4:30 in the late afternoon when we eventually travelled back home as we talked about travel arrangements for tonight.

"Sure Feli, at least it'll be easier to get ready at your place," I smiled and sighed as we reached my front door, "well, I'll see you in an hour or so".

"Don't forget to bring your best game," she called out as she walked back to her and Luca's place.

I scoffed and shook my head, 'I've always got my best game on'.

"Mama, I'm home," I called as I wondered through the house, eventually fining her in the kitchen drinking tea, "Ég fer út í kvöld með Felicity og Luca, mun líklega ekki koma aftur fyrr en á morgun" (I'm going out tonight with Felicity and Luca, I probably will not be back until tomorrow)

She just nodded and smiled, reaching up and placing a hand on my shoulder, "Segðu mér meira frá þessu tækifæri sem þú fékkst, það hljómar mjög spennandi," She asked as she wondered through to the living area and sat down with her tea, whilst I leaned against the wall. (Tell me more about this opportunity you got, it sounds really exciting).

I explained about the year long project I was being sent on, the basic details of location, how long the visa and accommodation would take to full through. I wouldn't be leaving for another two months at least but I had enough money to pay for the bills in this house, as well as buy a small flat out in Canada after the first few weeks accommodation ran out.

I sat and talked to her for a good few hours and before I knew it was already turning 5:30pm. So I wondered back into the kitchen, making sure that she had dinner for the evening as well as the heating being on, before going to my room to figure out what to wear tonight.

After a good twenty minutes of decision making I settled on black bootleg jeans, a purple and blue tie-dyed tank top, slipping my leather harness on underneath my clothes, and my favourite leather bomber jacket, it was faded from years of wear, my dad had left it as a hand me down before he was killed but that was nearly 60 years ago.

I placed all of the clothes into a bag, as well as a change of clothes for the morning and a toothbrush, - leaving the leather jacket out on my bed.

I laughed solemnly tracing the faded iron-on patches, as I remembered my dad putting it on me when I was 8 years old only for it to drag along the floor as a weird open dress. The thing didn't fit me until I turned 16.

I checked the time as a put the jacket on my shoulders, it was 6pm and right on schedule there was a knock on the front door.

"Felicity, komdu inn! " My mother greeted her at the door, "Farðu beint í gegnum ég er viss um að hún er bara að fá það síðasta af dótinu sínu." (Felicity, come in! Go straight through, I'm sure she is just getting the last of her stuff.)

"Thanks, Rita" I heard her respond as she wondered through, pausing at my door, "So that's why your taking so long"

She pointed at my dad's jacket and looked at me pointedly, "Sorry, just reminiscing is all, it might have been a long time ago but I still miss him everyday."

She wandered into my room then and squeezed my shoulder, "Come on, a bit of drinking and a couple pretty girls will make you feel better."

She laughed loudly when I punched her arm, slinging my bag over my shoulder and grabbing my wallet on the way out as we walked over to Felicity's house where the night of partying would begin.

'luckily I don't have any meetings in the morning otherwise I'd be screwed' I thought to myself as we threw back our pre-drinks.

So, that's chapter 3 done, next chapter is going to start with the party and there will probably be some smut involved because that's just how things go!
