Chapter 2:Meeting Booker Dewitt/Ascension

When the mysterious man finished knocking, he opened the door and simply went in. To his surprise, he saw four kids of different ages. The man was dressed in a gray suit, a jacket-like vest, far brown pants, with a black shirt and red necktie. The man asked sternly who they were. Andy then stepped up and said to the man, confidently.

Andy Belem:Hello, my name is Andy Belem.

Andy Belem:And these are my siblings Annie, Malcolm, and Izzie. He says while pointing at each of them.

Oh. Said the mysterious man. He then said, to the Belem's.

???:Well, the name's Booker Dewitt. Private Detective for the Pinkerton's. Now, tell me what you're doing here? He asked sternly.

When Booker said his name, Andy's eyes widened and then took out the envelope, from his left pocket, that was given to him and said to Booker, holding the envelope out to him.

Andy Belem:I think this envelope is for you, Mr Dewitt.

Booker Dewitt went towards him and grabbed the envelope from Andy's hand, tore the seal off, and began to read it softly to himself. He read the note for about five minutes then his eyes widened with surprise, he looked at the Belem Kids then looked back at the note. He let out a sigh, folded the note, put the envelope in his jacket pocket, and looked at the Belem Kids and told them, begrudgingly.

Booker Dewitt: Well then, I guess you kids are my responsibility now.

The Belem Kids were surprised by what Booker had said to them. Andy then spoke out and asked Booker.

Andy Belem: What do you mean *your responsibility*?

Booker Dewitt:What I mean is, I gotta take you to Colombia to meet with somebody.

Annie Belem:And where is this *Colombia*? She asked, grudgingly.

Booker Dewitt replied to her, ominously.

Booker Dewitt:The same place where I'm going.

Booker Dewitt then went over to the spiral staircase and started to walk up a few steps when he noticed the Belem Kids still downstairs in shock, except for Izzie who followed him after he said to "get a move on". Malcolm then walked up the spiral staircase along with Izzie, Andy went after them but not before Annie putting her hand on his shoulder and whispered to him.

Annie Belem:This conversation isn't over. She said, softly.

Booker Dewitt and the Belem Kids went up two flights of stairs and found themselves in a small room with a wooden grandfather clock besides a 1912 desk with an old black dial phone and some small stacks of paper and books on the desk. Above the desk was a map of the United States with red thread and pins plotting some sort of course, with a note on the bottom right saying:Be Prepared, He's On His Way. You Must Stop Him. -C.

As Booker Dewitt and the Belem Kids examined the mysterious note, Izzie went to a nearby coat-rack and grabbed a light brown satchel and put it around her shoulder and stuffed the medical-kit inside. From there, three banner-like signs were hanging by the next flight of stairs. The first one said:From Sodom, Shall I Lead Thee.

The second one said:To Thine Own Land, Shall I Take Thee.

The third one said:In New Eden Soil, Shall I Plant Thee.

Booker Dewitt and the Belem Kids went up the next flight of stairs. When Booker made it up the final step he saw something unsettling and remarked in shock saying.

Booker Dewitt:Oh, shoot!

He then turned to Andy, who was right behind him, and told him.

Booker Dewitt:Hey Andy, cover the little one's eyes.

Andy then asked Booker why, Booker then replied to him, softly.

Booker Dewitt:Because of that.(he said while pointing forward)

Andy looked in front of Booker and saw something repulsive. Andy gazed in disgust at a dead man's body with a wheat sack over his head with a large paper note saying "Don't Disappoint Us!", Andy then told Annie about the body, and both older siblings covered the younger siblings eyes while fast-walking towards and up the last flight of stairs.

As they all made it to the top of the lighthouse, Malcolm and Izzie went to the railing that overlooked the ocean below and gazed in marvel. While they were enjoying themselves, Andy asked Booker, wondering.

Andy Belem:So, what now?

Booker then looked around and found a silver door that lead inside the lighthouse's lens. The door had a small silver statue of an angelic like priest with its arms widely opened. Below the statue were three silver bells with different markings engraved in them. Booker Dewitt closely examined the bells and remembered that the carvings were the same as the ones written on the note that was given to him. The note had a set of instructions that depicts how many times to ring each bell. Booker pulled out the card but realized that he had nothing to ring the bells with, there was no strings attached under the bells to ring, and the bells were too hard to ring by hand. Booker then checked his pockets and found nothing to use, he then asked the Belem Kids, wondering.

Booker Dewitt:Hey, you guys got anything for ringing bells?

The Belem Kids each looked in their pockets and found nothing, except for Izzie who looked in her light brown satchel and found a small gong-ringer stick. She then passed the stick to Booker, then Booker began to ring the bells in the order/pattern of the note given to him. After the bells were rung, a moment of silence filled the air when suddenly, a loud foghorn blared, in order, to the pattern made by the bells. After the foghorn finished blaring in order, the lighthouse bulb turned off and began to flash to the pattern made by the foghorn. While this was going on, Booker Dewitt and the Belem Kids firmly placed their hands over their ears, trying to cancel out the loud noise made by the foghorn.

After three turns of exchanging patterns, the lighthouse bulb finally stopped and retracted upward while the silver door retracted downwards. After retracting their hands from their ears, both Booker Dewitt and the Belem Kids went inside the lighthouse bulb room. Inside where the large bulb was, in its place was a red velvet chair. Booker Dewitt then said to himself, softly.

Booker Dewitt:All right, looks like they expect me to sit in their fancy chair.

Booker was hesitant to sit in that chair. So he told the Belem Kids to stay close against the chair. Andy, Annie, Malcolm, and Izzie stayed close as they could to the chair as they could. Booker then sat down and waited for a minute or two. He then said to himself, wondering.

Booker Dewitt:Is something supposed to happe-

Suddenly arm restraints clamped onto his arms, strapping his arms on the armrests of the chair. Booker remarked, furiously.

Booker Dewitt: What the heck?!

The Belem Kids tried to remove the restraints from his arms, but had no such luck. Just then, a female automated voice system said to the frightened and shocked "pilgrims".

Countdown Voice: Make yourself ready, pilgrim.

The countdown voice said. She then explained to them(but mostly Booker Dewitt).

Countdown Voice: The bindings are as a safeguard.

Then seven large pieces of a rocket pod rose out from under the rocket pod and clamped themselves together like a jigsaw puzzle. The Belem Kids were frightened by what was happening, Izzie asked Annie, frightened.

Izzie Belem: What's happening?!

Annie Belem: I don't know!

Malcolm intervened and said to them, explaining.

Malcolm Belem: Well its seems to be that we are in a One-way Rocket Pod!

Booker Dewitt then asked Malcolm, frustrated.

Booker Dewitt: What the heck does that mean!?

Malcolm Belem: It means that wherever this rocket goes, that place will be its final destination!

The rocket pod began to shake and shutter wildly. The countdown voice then began to say, while counting down.

Countdown Voice: Ascension... Ascension in the count of Five... Count of Four... Three... Two... One!

The rocket pod then blasted into the air shakily while the countdown voice kept saying "Ascension", about three times. The countdown voice then stopped and began to count the number of feet above them.

Countdown Voice: Five-thousand feet... Ten-thousand feet... Fifteen-thousand feet...

Booker Dewitt and the Belem Kids were looking out the small window that that was in front of Booker and saw the clouds going down below them. The countdown voice then stopped talking when a bright light slightly blinded them. The bright light then dimmed a little and the countdown voice said, in rejoice.

Countdown Voice: Hallelujah.

Booker Dewitt and the Belem Kids looked out the window and saw a city about the clouds with a golden statue of a young girl lending out her hand. The Belem Kids were amazed and in awe as they saw the floating city, except for Booker who "had a job to do" in Colombia. The pod then began to fall until a parachute popped out and stopped the rocket pod from falling.

The pod drifted past a floating building with a large sign that said "Father Comstock, Our Prophet". The pod then landed on some sort of landing pad which then began to lower into some "Holy Temple".
