A week later, Izuku has gotten comfortable in his new surroundings.
Inko was enjoying the new girl friends she got out of Gabby, Carmen, and Stella, while Hisashi would go to karaoke bars with Diego, James, and George.
Izuku also has made even more friends.
-Two Days after moving-
"Excuse me, is that an issue of the All Might Manga?"
Izuku looks up from the manga he's reading during a break in class, and finds a dirty blonde haired kid with thick glasses sitting in a nearby desk. He's dressed in a red sweater and jeans.
The boy nods, "Y-Yeah, it's the last issue I bought before I moved here."
This makes him giddy, "So this is in the original kanji? These aren't even in America yet! That's so cool!"
Izuku smiles, "Thanks."
He extends his hand, "I'm Arnold, by the way. Arnold Jackson."
Izuku accepts the hand, "Izuku Midoriya, nice to meet you."
Arnold asks, "So, um, the latest issue of mine showed that there'd be a big brawl between Mt. Lady and Midnight, do you know the chapter that starts up?"
Izuku wonders, "Is that the first fight or the second?"
Arnold's eyes bug out, "There's a second!?"
The two went on to talk on and on about All Might until Clover walked by, "Hey Izuku thanks for the help yesterday," she spots Arnold, "Oh, hey Arnold."
Arnold messes with his shirt collar, trying to make himself look 'cool,' "Oh, hello mademoiselle."
She groans, "Please don't ask."
Arnold tells her, "I have two dinner reservations at-"
"Not interested."
She walks away, making Izuku ask, "Um...Sh-Should I ask?"
Arnold assures, "Eh, it's nothing to worry about, just gotta try hard enough and hopefully someday she'll say yes."
The emerald haired boy shrugs, "If you say so."
The bespeckled boy tells him, "Hey, there's an arcade at the Beverly Hills mall, you wanna hang out there sometime and talk more about All Might?"
The freckled boy nods, and the two part as friends.
-The Next Day-
Izuku was walking out of history class, reading a book closely. For once, he's actually struggling with the topic.
"Good book, new kid?"
He looks up and recognizes the girl, "Oh, Melissa-Chan. Are you in the history class?"
Melissa giggles, "Not in your class, but my next class is."
She looks over the book title, "Why're you reading the school's history book the class gives out?"
The emerald haired boy explains, "W-Well, the history studied here in America is way different from what was taught in Japan. It'd be easy to spot due to the big figures who were larger than life. Tomoe Gozen, Oda Nobunaga, Ryoma Sakamoto. They helped make history easy for me to understand."
The blonde girl gets an idea, "Ah, so you're a fan of heroes?"
Izuku nods, "Of course, ever since I was four."
She puts her index finger to her cheek, and a lightbulb almost goes off, "Ah, so you're an All Might fan!"
The boy's eyes widen and jaw drops as she explains, "My dad's an old friend of Toshinori Yagi."
This just makes him even more shocked, "Y-Y-Your dad knows the mangaka!?"
Melissa gains a big smirk, "Yeah, and Uncle Toshi comes visiting twice a year."
She offers a hand, "If you want, you help me with learning about other culture's heroes, not just Japanese, I help you learn about America's heroes so you can understand the history class better."
The short boy bows his head, "Thankyouthankyouthankyou!"
Melissa wonders, "Okay, to start with, the previous class is US history, but my class it's World History, so why don't we meet up for lunch and I can explain some of the larger than life stories the school wants you to know."
Izuku is beaming at this, and she wonders, "Would you like to sit together for lunch to go over some of this?"
This makes the introvert sweat, and shiver, "Umumumumumum…"
Melissa realizes, "Oh, I didn't even ask your name."
"MIDORIYA IZUKU!"
Hearing this makes her ask, "Doesn't that mean Long Time Green Valley?"
She gives a bow, "Nice to meet you, Sir Long Time."
Izuku bows as well, and heads off for his next class.
-Present Day, Beverly Hills Mall-
"Um, Clover-Chan, thanks for inviting me to the mall."
Clover winks, "No prob! Besides, today is your day."
This makes Izuku worry, "W-What does that mean?"
In unison the three girls chant, "Make-Over!"
...That makes the boy's mouth hang open, "Huh? Do I need makeup?"
This makes the girls laugh, with Alex explaining, "No, no. We just thought you needed some new clothes."
He looks down at his hoodie and cargo shorts, "Is something wrong with them?"
Sam admits, "Nothing's wrong with them, per say."
Clover explains, "It's just that some people at the school have a way of looking down on people by not being cool. The way you dress tells people all about you. It's what made Mandy think you were such an easy target."
Izuku shrugs, "Guess I'm used to attending school in uniform. But I don't know how much I can buy so quickly."
This makes the blonde grin, "Oh, don't worry. I'll be buying."
Suddenly, Izuku starts to cry, but it's more like a busted fire hydrant, a waterfall gushing out of his eyes, the girls back up in surprise as he cries out, "W-While I appreciate this kindness, I can't accept you doing something so excessive for me!"
Sweating, Clover assures with a lazy shake of her hands, "Oh, it's nothing. My parents make a good enough income to do this. Plus, I've been doing this all year for a lot of the girls at school. I'll admit you're the first boy I've done this for, but fashion designers work for both."
This makes Izuku relax, "O-Okay, but I don't want to spend too much. That feels rude."
The girls nod to this and start taking him through various stores. It took many hours to find good clothes, with there being many that Izuku didn't like, or the girls didn't like upon seeing them on him, and some just looking flat out ridiculous. But finally, some good clothes were found and bought. A quick favorite of Izuku's would be a green and black checkered hoodie, a combination of a grey hoodie with a thick blue jacket over, an orange fleece lined jacket, a black button up shirt with maroon vest, and a yellow button up short sleeve shirt with a breast pocket that has a zipper. They did check out shoes too, but Izuku insisted, "Can I ask that they only be red shoes. Those are my favorite."
The four walked out with over a dozen different kinds of shoes. With a free hand, Izuku starts reading the receipts, "2, 3, 400. Let's see, 1 dollar is around 108 yen, times four is 432, put two zeroes at the end, that's...43,200 yen!?"
He is stuck in the back seat of Mrs. Simpson's car, flatly screeching, like a dinosaur. This makes the matriarch ask, "What's wrong with him?"
Clover explains, "He just read the receipt."
Gabby nods, and chuckles a little, and the four are dropped off at Izuku's house, and as they leave, Alex spots a picture, of three young boys, one with green hair, another with wavy purple hair that's sleeping and standing, and a boy with bleach blonde hair with his arms raised, hollering like a hooligan, "Izuku, is this you? Who are these two boys?"
"That is me," the short boy answers, "The others are Kacchan and Hitoshi. Kacchan-um, Katsuki Bakugou, is the blonde boy, is the son of an old friend of my moms, so we became friends. And Hitoshi Shinso is the sleeping boy, but I'll admit I haven't seen him for years. That's actually one of my last pictures of him."
Sam wonders, "What happened?"
"He moved down to Kansai with his parents. Wherever he is, I hope he's alright."
-Confidential File: If you are reading this you are fired-
Hitoshi Shinso was not alright. Covered in raw sewage from head to toe, he's limping through an all white room leaving mucky footprints on the marble floor. He's shielding his eyes from the bothersome white light as he makes his way to a computer.
On the screen is one word.
INTERSECT
He starts typing away on it, pulling up internet explorers, and pulls up twitter and types in the search bar Midoriya.
The intercom goes off, "Security breach detected."
He finds an account, MrsMidoriy 1979, where he sees a short portly woman with unmistakable green hair at a nail salon with three women, captioned off with, "New look for a new home."
He chuckles, "Good for you, Mrs. Midoriya."
He searches the comments, and finds AllMighty!zuku99, and sends a message to him, "Please still be alright, Izu."
He types up a link and sends a message to the account, but the message is so big that it's taking minutes. He pulls out an umbrella as he hears banging on the door.
Three men dressed like swat enter with shotguns, so Hitoshi crouches and opens the umbrella.
Yet when they fire on him, it isn't hitting, the fabric of the umbrella is bulletproof, and Hitoshi is able to see thanks to his side of the fabric is a screen that lets him see. With a button on the handle, he shoots out a pellet that shoots out smoke as it hits one of the guards. The purple haired boy runs past them, only to find a dozen others pointing their guns at him.
Accepting defeat, he raises his hands up, and one of them walks up to him, "What did you hope to accomplish Shinso?"
At this, the boy smiles, "More than you know."
A guard inspects the computer and shouts, "Sir, the Intersect is gone!"
The guard demands, "What happened?"
"It seems the file was sent to an unknown account...Through twitter. The computer was wiped clean of the original file."
Now the man is frustrated, "So where was the file sent?"
"...Skywalker Boulevard, Beverly Hills."
The man takes off his gas mask, showing that he's a balding man with a somewhat prominent nose, and a kubrick stare to his features, "Whoever you sent that to is now dead, boy."
Hitoshi smiles, "Not him."
-Confidential File: If you are reading this you are fired-
Friday night, Izuku is watching an episode of All Might in his room, with a lamp as an additional source of light. He hears a jingle on his cellphone and sees that it's his twitter app. Opening it, he finds a friend request from H!+0$h!$h!n$0, making him think aloud, "Hitoshi?"
Accepting the friend request, he finds a link has already been sent.
He clicks on it, and dozens, maybe even hundreds of dozens of pictures show up, he makes out the pyramids, eiffel tower, a robin, statue of liberty, and so much more.
All of this he stared at.
And stared at, and stared at, and stared at until it was Saturday morning.
When it was finally over, he passed out and fell out of his chair.
He was shaken awake to find his father standing over him, asking in a slow motioned droll, "Zuku...Zuku...Are...You...Alright?"
For some reason, Izuku could still see those images, but from time to time he spots a couple constellations as he makes eye contact with his father, before blurting out, "Whoosh."
Hisashi's motion returns to normal, "Whoosh? Did you stay up watching All Might for 8 hours again?"
The green haired boy sits up, "I think I did, dad. I don't remember anything after getting a friend request on Twitter by Hitoshi."
The bespeckled man chuckles, "Shinso found you? That's good, you both were really good friends."
The son nods, "Yeah, he and Kacchan were fun to hang out with."
The father's features become cross, "Ten years of that boy giving you trouble and you still call him Kacchan? You're more forgiving than I am, Zuku."
Izuku balances himself, so Hisashi tells him, "Alright, get dressed and showered. Have a fun Saturday."
Izuku did just that, and quickly leaves the house, wearing the new green and black jacket, and sunglasses as well.
He didn't know where he was going, but he just had to walk. And what makes it worse is that he's being followed. One of them speaks into a radio, "Midoriya Junior's on the move."
"Where is he going?"
The man responds, "Unknown sir, pursuing."
The sleep deprived boy keeps walking until he turns a corner, where he's quickly sucked into a trap door. The pursuers look around, "Where'd he go?"
Whatever sleep he was still feeling was now gone, as all the quirkless boy could do is scream and cry.
The tube he's falling down starts to curve, turning into a slide for him. He continues sliding until he lands on a circular bed. His eyes are spiraling as he sits up, finding two men enjoying a cup of coffee. Both are dressed in casual business suits, black ties and all, but they are both distinctive. One is an older man with grayed hair and a prominent bald spot with a moustache, while the other is young, baggy eyed, three day beard stubble, and greasy black hair kept back in a ponytail, with a scare prominent under one of his eyes. He's the first to spot Izuku, "Ah, our receiver is here."
He gets up and stands over the boy, who is shuffling back in terror, before asking, "What is...Eraserhead?"
At this, images pop up in Izuku's vision, of the man, dressed in all black with wrappings, fighting men, and another of him clean shaven on an ID badge, birth certificates, and more, before blurting out, "Shota Aizawa, thirty years old, codename Eraserhead. Originally a violent vigilante in Tokyo's Red Light district before being recruited and eventually leading Japan's branch of the World Organization Of Human Protection, AKA WOOHP. How do I know that?"
Mr. Aizawa groans, "Because an old friend of yours thought it was a good idea to make you the world's first organic supercomputer."
The other man steps up, and with a light british accent, "Now now, Aizawa, no need to be so hard on the boy. We have to ease him in."
He kneels down, "My name is Jerry Lewis, director WOOHP's American branch, and an agent of ours, Hitoshi Shinso was captured by an unknown organization about 10 hours ago. Before he was abducted, he had access to a powerful computer system called the Intersect, which has access to every government and black market's secrets. Not to mention gives access to all known martial arts techniques. Using special images encoded with hidden messages, Shinso was able to make your brain 100% functioning as the world's greatest computer. In other words, you are now the world's smartest man."
This make Izuku panic, "HUUUUUUH!? How is that possible! Something like should be melting my brain or something! D-Doubly so for the hundreds of thousands, millions of pictures I saw."
This time Aizawa speaks up, "Athetos."
This makes the boy flinch, but he explains, "On normal brains, what you describe is the common result, which is why the Intersect was considered so dangerous. But the only attempts to be successful were those with Athetos syndrome. Because their brain chemistry is different from normal people, not to call you different, the brain is more able to handle the storage of every government secret in the world. What made you quirkless is what made Shinso decide you would be his hero."
This caught his attention, "What did you just call me?"
This brought back memories, memories he never wanted to remember.
Eleven years ago
"Sorry kid, you've got Athetos Syndrome."
This at first confused the mother and child, and so Inko Midoriya, younger, taller, and thinner, asks in confusion, "What does that mean?"
The doctor explains, "Well, we did a complete MRI of your son's brain, and while nothing's wrong with it, per se, we have detected and if you'll look here," he points to a blakc and white picture of a brain, pointing at a thin mark, "This circuit is thinner, a common trait of autism, and judging by her son's personality test results, we've determined that it's a more recent version discovered called Athetos. Now normally this isn't a major issue, but it could hamper his ability to find work. Now then, has the young boy decided what he wanted to be when he got older?"
At this, the tiny child raises his hand, "I wanna be a hero! A doctor, policeman, or even fire fighter!"
This makes the doctor groan, "Unfortunately, those kinds of jobs are very dangerous to an individual with Athetos and those around them. It'd be a safety hazard. I suggest you give those dreams up."
This locks the boy's features into a dark smiley face, while his mother starts to tear up. Later that night, the two were home, with Izuku rewatching the first episode of All Might on his mother's computer, the screen the only light in the room. Inko peaks in, asking her son, "Izuku, are you alright?"
Young Izuku Midoriya turned around, and looked at his mother with saucer eyes spilling tears all over his face, "K-Kaa-San...C-Can I be a hero?"
His mother just breaks down in tears and hugs him, "I'm sorry this happened to you, Izuku! I'm so, so sorry!"
But Izuku just sits there, thinking, 'That wasn't the answer I wanted to hear.'
Seeing the boy's reaction, Aizawa realizes, "I remember reading your file on the way here. That's something you always wanted to hear, right? After that doctor crushed your hopes and dreams."
The man kneels down and assures him, "Young man, you are now a hero."
At this, Izuku breaks down in tears, tears of joy, as he clenches at his chest as years of frustration and suffering fade away. Seeing this, the two men step back, with Jerry wondering, "Should we give him space?"
But the disheveled man tells him, "We don't have time. Shinso's probably being interrogated. Bring in your spies."
Jerry exhales, "Alright, but you know this will send the boy in a panic, right?"
A snort is his only answer. So with a touch of a button, the trap door opens behind Izuku a minute later, he looks over, and spots three forms have landed behind him, one of them complaining, "Alright, Jerr, what is it this...time."
It was Clover, with Sam and Alex, and all three blurted out, "Izuku?"
And all he can do is wave to the three.
Eraserhead tells them, "Hello girls, Director Aizawa of the Japanese branch, we don't have a lot of time, so you will get the rundown now."
Author's Note: I'm an idiot!
I was rereading the chapters after I published them, and for some reason 3 or rather 3 as I originally typed it without a space became just a 3 in that first chapter.
Goes to show just how much I still don't know about writing on this site.
That, or I need a proof reader more than I thought.
Anyway, now we bring in how Izuku joins the spy world, with nothing less than the cult classic that is Chuck.
All rights belong to Josh Schwartz, Chris Fedak, Warner Bros., and everything in between.
So, the story is set in 2014, since Izuku is 15, and so freshman graduation would be 2015, when the original Totally Spies series ended. Plus 2014 was the year I graduated from high school, so another fun shout out.
