Chapter 3: First game
The Time was coming up. Kevin's first apex game. He was getting all of his gear together. He was double checking everything to make sure it is in top shape for the royal. He was getting dressed in his ring gear.
His ring gear is a green jacket with a black t-shirt underneath and green gloves with black accents. He also has on black pants that have multiple pockets with green combat boots. He is also wearing hi tech goggles over his eyes and the MS watch on his left wrist.
He also is wearing a black tool belt on his waist. A woman came in and escorted him to the drop ship. The woman then showed him his teammates. Wouldn't you know one of them was wattson. Kevin sat down next to her as she was wearing her usual ring gear.
She then looked over at him in his gear. "You look amazing in that," she said. "You also look good in yours," said Kevin. Then the 2 metals legs from yesterday walked up to them. " Hola amigos guess we are a team. I'm octane." "I'm Phantom," said Kevin.
Octane then said " I remember you chica. We were almost champions last time." "So you two have worked together before. Thats cool,"said Kevin. The dropship was approaching King's canyon. Everyone was getting ready to drop. The nervousness started to set in.
A person came up behind him and asked " first time?" Kevin turned around and it was Lifeline. He met her yesterday while working late in the lab. She said it was bad for his health if he stayed up for too long. Kevin then said to her " yeah but I think i'm ready for the challenge." "well good luck," she said. "You too,"he said. Kevin then went to the rest of his squad.
They decided they were going to go to the crash site. Octane decided to be the jump master. When they got close they jumped.
When they were falling through the air Kevin's adrenaline was off the charts. The people that gave him the equipment said that it was completely safe. He was soaring through the air, he felt so weightless.
That came to an end when they finally landed. They landed at the top of the structure in the top Octane sped away to find some loot.
Phantom and Wattson were running together to find some loot. Wattson ended up finding an Eva8 and an R99. Phantom got a wingman.
While Phantom was about to open the cargo hold bullets were shot his way. He ran around the hold and hid behind the corner. Octane came running back, but also had to stop right next to Phantom because of the shot coming their way.
Octane said to Phantom " what do we do? They're coming this way!" Phantom then said "I'll distract them while you hit them fast and hard." octane then said "sounds like my kind of plan."
Phantom then turned on the MS watch and walked through the container to the other side. He turned it off then shot one of them in the head twice with his wingman and knocked him to the floor.
The other 2 turned around surprised that he was there. Then Octane knocked one with his spitfire and Wattson came out of nowhere and finished the last one with her R99.
Phantom and Octane high five. "Nice distraction" Octane said. "Nice shots," said Phantom. Then they got the loot from the death boxes. Phantom then got a devotion and kept his wingman. Octane swapped weapons with Wattson and gave her a spitfire.
Now he has a R99 and a peacekeeper. Wattson has a spitfire and an Eva8. Then they went towards bunker because of the ring. They had to pass through Containment where there were 2 squads fighting. They ran up and killed everyone there. They all have purple gear after that fight. They continued on their way towards Bunker.
They went up the hill when they went to the building on the hill top. They wanted to just check for extra ammo. Octane had already sped off.
Before Wattson can follow suit Phantom said "There's not going to be anything inside the building."Wattson asked "how do you know?" " My goggles can create reconstructions of past events. People have already been here,"said Phantom.
Octane then came back and Phantom explained it to him. They continued on the way to Bunker. They had to go through to get to the next safe ring.
The zone started to close in. They heard a bunch of footsteps behind them. Wattson started laying fences to slow them down. They ran to the top part of Bunker and got the easy kills when the enemy was forced to run through the fence to get in. Phantom then traded his wingman for a sentinel.
The zone was going to end out in the middle of the field outside the top part of Bunker and Airbase. They were just running along till Octane was Knock by a kraber. "I'm down no bueno," he said. They ended up hiding behind a rock. Wattson was about to start picking up Octane till a voice said "watch out i'm opening up the sky." Then Phantom saw that they were about to get bombarded by missiles from the sky.
Fortunately Wattson put down her ultimate and started zapping the mortars out of the air. Phantom then started using his sentinel to provide covering fire. He dodged a kraber shot that almost hit him. Wattson had got octane up and he was taking a phoenix kit.
When the squad is almost on them Phantom takes a deep breath, and goes through the large rock to the other side. Phantom comes out on the other side breathing heavily. He then quickly goes to the flank. He ends up knocking a big man. Wattson and octane finish the other 2.
Phantom was still breathing heavily. Wattson came up and asked him "are you ok?" She put a hand on his shoulder. Phantom then said " yeah that one took a lot out of me. I think i'm good now." They continued on the way. Octane used his jump pad to get them closer to the zone. There were 3 squads left. They had a chance to win this game.
Then the worst happened. They were pushed on both sides by the last 2 teams. Phantom was the only one to get away because he went intangible at the right moment. The ring was getting even smaller. The last 2 teams were pushing each other. Phantom saw the opportunity from behind a used his Weapon accleratent. His sentinel was hitting heavy shots and his devotion turned into a shotgun.
He ende getting 3 more knocks. He walked into the zone and saw one last person and shot them. All the people on the ground died in the ring. Then a booming voice came up and said "YOU ARE THE APEX CHAMPION." Kevin then pumped his fists into the air. A ship came to pick him up.
When he got off the ship back to base he went to the respawn chamber. He sees Octane and Wattson coming out. Both of them came up to high five him. "That was amazing," said Octane. "Yes it was,"said Wattson. Kevin felt great, as he was walking away with his team. The big man from earlier he eliminated came up to him. "Good game brudda." " Thanks,"said Kevin. "Names Makoa Gibraltar, but most people call me Gibby.
"Names Kevin,but my ring name is Phantom," said Kevin. Gibby then said " Fitting name based on what you just did." Gibby then congratulated him and then they all went to the dining room for dinner. Mirage was congratulating Kevin on his first win. Lifeline was talking with Wattson. Wattson was saying that Lifeline gave a good effort even though she was eliminated early into the game.
Kevin had his first win. He went down to the lab to fix up some of his equipment. Wattson showed up later to fix her fences. After a while she was getting frustrated with the fence. It wasn't working the way it was supposed to. Kevin saw the frustrated look on her face.
He went over to her and asked "what seems to be the problem?" Wattson then said " it's not working the way it's supposed to. I'm trying to reduce deployment time, But also maximize the electrical output." " Let me take a look," he said.
Kevin then rearranged a few wires and gave it back to her. Wattson then placed the fence down. It was much faster and also produced more electricity.
She turned around in amazement. "You fixed it. Thank you!" Kevin then said "no problem." Kevin then walked back to his station.
Unknown to him Wattson was looking at his back. 'He's really smart to be able to fix this with ease, and he's kinda cute' she thought. Then Wattson mental smacked herself. What was she thinking, she had only met Kevin 2 days ago.
That didn't stop her from looking again, and then she turned around red faced. She then got back to work.

Now I promised in the last chapter I promised a run down of Phantom's abilities
Passive: Goggles allow him to reconstruct past events- this allows him to see the 'ghosts' of the past. He can see where enemies have been. It's like bloodhound passive
Tactical: MS watch- The matter shifting watch allows Phantom's atoms to vibrate at a very high frequency. This allows him to move through solid objects. While doing this any particles will pass through him like punches and bullets are many other objects. There is a drawback to using it since all particles pass through him he can't breathe in Oxygen molecules. In turn he will have to stop being intangible to breath.
Ultimate: weapon accelerant- Phantom made a special hop up in the lab that he can use on weapons to give them an effect. In the case of assault rifles 3 bullets are shot at a time doing lots of damage but the fire rate is significantly reduced. Lmgs become shotguns that shoot 8 bullets per trigger pull. They will overheat after too many quick pulls in a row. Smgs fire rate goes up but the amount of damage the bullets do goes down. Shotguns now have slugs and can do more damage over range. Maskmen rifles bullet damage gets a 10% increase. Pistols will now be semi automatic but with the kick from the shots in quick succession, you will not be able to aim down sights. Snipers do tons more damage but the time between shots is way longer.
