"You are the one that I will always love," He had smiled, and he twined his scorpion tail carefully around hers. She had leaned into his warm body, and he winced, shocked by the cold.
"Sorry," She said softly as she shifted.
"It's fine," He hugged her, wrapping his comforting wings around her slim body.
"Oh- do you see that?" She asked.
"What?" He looked up at the sky, to see an incredibly bright comet up in the sky.
"The Boreal Comet!"
"What-?" He asked, his face full of confusion.
"Can't you see it, or is your eyesight as bad as your humor?" Chakra had joked, jabbing him with her talons and flicking her wing as the comet blazed through the sky.
"Hey! I'm hilarious," He had said, frowning as he spotted the comet. "Three moons that is so bright!"
"Boreal," She had said, remembering the egg she had snuggly hidden in a gap it had taken her weeks to carve out of her freezing bedroom walls. "That's what we should name our dragonet."
Abner's mouth opened and closed as though he was thinking, and then he smiled lovingly. "I love it," He said in a rumbly tone, like the purr of a cat.
"Why did you save me?" Draft asked, her eyes shining.
Abner shrugged, "It was the right thing to do," He pointed out.
"B-but," Her sister stuttered.
"So," Abner interrupted. "Who is this, Chakra?"
"My sister," She growled, "Draft-"
"You know him?" Draft glared at her, frowning.
"Yes-" She said haughtily. Right before Chakra was about to explain how, she heard an ear splitting crack.
"What is that!?" Her sister roared, worry sparking in her deep blue eyes, as her wings faltered slightly.
"The egg!" Chakra reached out her talons to Abner. "Let me see!"
Abner put the egg in her talons, but a couple seconds later, the shell shattered. A light aqua blue dragonet with perfectly rigid claws and a carefully curved scorpion tail looked up at her from her talons.
She gasped, staring into the dragonet's black eyes.
"Am I a-" Draft started.
"He is beautiful!" Abner interrupted, reaching out for the dragonet.
"And his name is Boreal," Chakra smiled as the dragonet tugged on his father's ear, his tongue hanging out on the side of his mouth.
SORRY THIS ONE IS SO SHORT! JUST AS A NOTE THIS TAKES PLACE ABOUT 3 YEARS AFTER THE SANDWING WAR OF SUCCESSION ENDED.
