Jestalnaker94000: Yes I will still have the father and daughter dynamic between them.

Micahel: Yeah its a shame. Most people use Spiderman to much from what I see. And it does make sense for Logan to try and attempt suicide but I don't want to have him moping around and feeling sorry for himself so much at the starter portion of the story. I had him do that a lot in another previous version of my story. But I will see what I can do to sprinkle that in and not make it seem like I'm dragging it on.

The honking cars outside along with the meaningless chatter was somewhat pleasant for Logan to listen to. Probably because it was a reminder that this earth had inhabitants while his was brought to ruin along with everyone. If he had to guess the people from his earth either went into hiding or were killed for trying to resist the uprising.

To put it simply, the world he once knew was now gone. And considering he was the only survivor there wouldn't be much to save.

And here he was now. Brought here by some strange miracle that he couldn't fathom. Landing in a space station that was operated by a group of powerful people from what he was told was tasked with defending the world from international threats. The very same people who offered him of all people a place among them.

Logan remembered the answer he gave the to both Superman and J'onn.

"No."

That blunt refusal made both men blink in surprise. Superman's was more evident than J'onn's as he kept his usual stony expression from breaking. Superman frowned as he slowly retracted his hand. His disappointment was so obvious that it wasn't hard to miss. Logan just sat there giving Superman and by extension J'onn a deadpan stare as he watched them trying to rack their minds around why he declined their offer.

"Don't get me wrong. You seem like good people, which is why you don't want someone like me in your group." Logan vaguely elaborated not wanting to pursue this conversation any further than that.

Both of league founders were just silent when he made that claim. It wasn't because he turned down the offer. They had others refuse before or just simply quit. This man however didn't want to join because he saw them as good people.

Both Superman and J'onn wanted him to elaborate on that but judging by Logan's tone they had a clear guess that he wouldn't.

Superman nodded in acceptance. "Ok. If thats your choice."

It was his choice. After all they had they had no right to deny him that.

Logan stood without saying another word and left the room. The two men just glanced at each other, pondering what he had told them.

That had been a month ago. Now here he was in a modest apartment in New York that he just recently moved into. With the Leagues assistance of course. It wasn't anything to fancy but nothing to low rent. Logan wasn't complaining. His nomadic and rough way of living had taught him to make the best over his living conditions. Be it luxurious or rundown.

The League had been generous with helping him get the apartment. Not to mention other things he needed for his survival. Since it seemed he would be staying on this earth Logan knew he needed to get himself situated in it. He needed not only a home but also his citizenship, a passport, Identification records. Basic essentials for everyday life. Thankfully Superman and J'onn had were willing to offer their help.

''Didn't have to help with my bank account though. Oh well, no point in feelin' like a moocher now.' He thought while hammering a nail into a nearly completed wooden shelf.

An interesting thing he had learned was that the League was funded. Which would make sense, a functioning orbital satellite had to come from the pocket of someone who was loaded with money. J'onn had told him that the famous Gotham city wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne was in debted to the League seeing the worlds protection that he had his R&D department team build it.

Though Logan could tell that the Martian was only telling him the half truth. His experience in dealing with those who hid information from him be it vital or not, allowed him to pick up on these cues. Not to mention he could easily sniff out a lie. Wolverine knew there was more to it than just a rich man giving away his millions to make his image look good.

Either way it meant didly squat to him. He wasn't part of the League so he could care less.

A light knock on his window was suddenly heard through out the relatively quiet home. Glancing over his shoulder the feral mutant was graced with welcoming visit of Wonder Woman hovering outside. Sighing Logan placed his tools on the floor and walked over to the window. Undoing the latches he opened it letting some of the early evening breeze to come inside.

The Amazon smiled in greeting. "Hello. I hope the accommodations are to your liking?"

"Its not bad. More homy than the Watchtower that's for sure." He replied with a shrug.

"That we can agree on." She said with a lighthearted laugh. Diana couldn't deny that the Watchtower wasn't the best place to feel comfortable in the longer you stayed there. The metal walls and the loud working machinery could make it feel saimy after awhile.

Awkward silence followed after. Both looked at each other, not knowing what else to say to beyond just a casual greeting. They didn't know each other well enough to have friendly conversation.

"Do you mind if I can come in?" She asked politely.

He was hesitant to grant that request. Mainly because alot of work needed to be done and he wanted to be alone. But for whatever reason he didn't have it in him to tell her to get lost. Probably because she was one of the few people who helped him when he came here.

With that he deeply sighed through his nostrils and gestured for the Amazon to come inside.

Wonder Woman landed gracefully and looked over everything she could see in the living room area. Boxes were laid about everywhere, no doubt containing more furniture that needed to be setup. A couch was to her right along with a lamp and wooden stand. The lamp was already on, meaning the power was up and running.

Another pile of boxes was seen that was labeled 'clothes'. No doubt Logan had gone shopping ealier, seeing as how he was wearing a white short sleeved shirt along with blue jeans and black leather boots. It seemed he had almost everything he needed.

"You need somethin'?" Logan asked directly. Wasting no time in getting to the reason why she was in his house as he opened his refrigerator and reached for a cold beer.

Wonder Woman shook her head. "No. J'onn wanted me to check on you since this city is in my jurisdiction."

He grunted in response and settled himself on the couch. The tall woman stood in front of him with her arms crossed. Logan knew it was unintentional but from where he sat she did look quite imposing.

"This gonna be a common thing?"

"We won't intrude in your life if thats what your implying? That is your right and we won't take that from you."

Wolverine was glad to hear that. If anything he didn't have to worry about being monitored or bothered.

He opened the beer bottle and drank. He then wondered about something but tried ignoring it. It got the better of him as he asked the question that was nagging his mind.

"How are things with the League?"

Diana slightly arched an eyebrow at that. Taken off guard by the fact that Logan wanted to know about how the Justice League was doing. From what she heard from Kal the man had refused to join which of course lead to where he is now. And from how the Kryptonian described it he didn't want anything to with them. The news had also spread across the Watchtower.

So it was surprising to hear that he wanted to hear about her busy life. He didn't seem like the type who engaged in small talk.

Regardless Wonder Woman induled him with an answered. "They are well. So far nothing serious has occured in weeks aside from natural disasters and small crimes. Which is the usual."

Logan hummed as he listened. He had been able catch wind of the Justice Leagues exploits through newspaper readings, the local news, or just from casual talk around the neighborhood. And judging by how some people spoke of them they were very good at their job. He thought some because there was another half of the public that had a negative view of the Justice League.

Some believed that they would eventually allow their power to corrupt them and would become enemy of the people. The media was reinforcing this belief, fuelling the fear of those who believed in this. What made the matter worse that the current president wasn't making things any easier. Influencing the masses so they could be on his side. What was his name? Lex Luthor?

In Logan's personal opinion the public were just being narrow minded idiots. Both sides were. It was the same stupid drivel he had heard before. Him being a mutant, being at the center of the masses blind praise or hate was something he was used to seeing.

"That said, what's your take on all of this? Y'know, with the current events and what not." He asked taking another swig from the bottle.

Diana adopted a thoughtful expression as she searched for an answer. "In my opinion, I think to some degree the other half of the populace have a right to be afraid of us."

Removing the bottle from his lips abruptly, Wolverine could only furrow his brow at her.

"The Justice League is one of the most powerful people on earth. Like everyone we can be swayed. Even by the very power we use to protect." She explained, taking notice of his confusion. "Many see us as incorruptible but the truth is were not."

The man leaned forward from his spot. The weight of what she was saying fully grabbing his attention.

"If we could, me and everyone could easily overthrow the government without so much as trying." Diana's eyes became firmly set on his. Showing that she didn't hold any delusions over how the League could easily fall from their plateau of virtue.

"However..." She paused which allowed Logan to see the conviction and pride burning in her eyes. "We will do everything we can to not allow ourselves to fall on the sword."

Wolverine just sat there staring into the womans eyes, as if trying to find any trace of wavering. He didn't see any, meaning she firmly believed the words she just said.

"...You seem pretty convinced of that."

"I have to be. Otherwise I wouldn't be a warrior of peace if I didn't ."

She still held that strong firm look in her eyes. The eyes of someone who wouldn't allow themselves to break and keep pushing through the trials of everything that was thrown at them.

The eyes of a warrior.

A halfhearted smile twitched itself on Wolverine's lips. "Good."

Diana saw the mans melancholic posture as he praised her. Lidded eyes gazing passively at the floor with slumped shoulders. No doubt the weight of his deed still burdening him. She remembered what J'onn had told everyone. How he was once part of a group who fought for piece and justice. But was manipulated into ending their lives.

Thats when she realized that her word must've brought up those feelings and memories when he fought with them. Moments and feelings that he will never get back. The Amazon internally chastised herself for her insensitivity.

She kneeled down to the mans level, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "It wasn't your fault."

Logan's head snapped up at soft and melodic voice. As well as the strong but soft hand on his shoulder that he now just realized was there. Her face was held with such gentle concern that it was a far cry from the mighty look she had before. It stumped him that this woman who didn't even know him was showing genuine care for him. Saying that it wasn't his fault because he killed his family.

But it was his fault. The very people who brought him in, gave him a home and a purpose. And how did he repay them? By tearing them to pieces.

He didn't want to hear any excuses of what he did.

Just as he was about to brush her hand off a small sound rang through out the room. Wonder Woman blinked at the sound buzzing in her ear and pressed her finger towards the communicator.

"What is it Superman?" A brief pause was followed as she listened on the other end. She then nodded firmly. "Alright. I'll meet you there in seven minutes."

She abruptly stood from her crouch, preparing to leave. "I have to leave. Duty calls."

Logan just shrugged in understanding.

Before she left Diana handed something to him. In his hand Logan saw what looked like a small grey device.

Instantly realizing what this was Wolverine flashed the Amazon an indignant look.

Wonder Woman quickly raised her hand in a defensive gesture. "We know what you said about joining the Justice League. But J'onn wanted you to keep in touch with us just in case."

The man still held his fierce look as he mulled over her words. He made it clear that he didn't want anything to do with these people. But on the other hand maybe being in contact with them didn't seem to bad either.

Relenting he growled and accepted it. "Fine."

"Its connected to the same channel as J'onn's so you will be patched through to his comm link once you call."

"Yeah yeah."

Diana frowned at that dismissive response but didn't say anything else. She also took it as her cue to leave and meet up with Superman. She soared out into the night sky leaving the man alone.

Logan just stared at the tiny device in his palm. He really wanted to just toss the damn thing out the window and forget it ever existed. But another part of him wanted to keep it. He didn't know why because he did not want to get involved with anything.

He just sighed and placed the comm link on the wooden lamp stand. He didn't want to think any of this now. All he really wanted was to get his house setup. Logan soon got back to work, glad that the Justice League and everything else were far from his mind.

"NOOO!"

Logan roared out loudly as he snapped up from the couch he was just sleeping in. Eyes wide, body drenched in cold sweat, and chest heaving heavily with ragged breathing. All signs pointing to a nightmare.

The man closed his eyes and took slow steady breaths. Seemingly settled down Wolverine realized that both of his arms were tense and taut. Not to mention the cushions and the sheet that covered his pajamas had numerous tears in them. He relaxed his body and sheathed his claws.

He slapped his hand across his forehead. "Son of a..." His words came out as shuddered breaths. As he was still recoiling from the nightmare.

That horrid dream. The cries of pain, the blood covering the walls...the X-Men dying at his hand.

He lazily glanced at the clock. It was thirty minutes before three AM. Logan knew he wasn't going to get any decent sleep anytime soon. Throwing the covers off he stormed towards his refrigerator to grab a cold drink. Hoping that it would soothe his erratic thoughts. He then frowned heavily when he saw that his pack of alcoholic beverages were all gone. He forgotten that he had drunk the entire pack within a day.

Knowing how to fix this issue Logan quickly put on some newly fresh clothes and grabbed his keys. It was time to go bar hunting.

The cold night hit his body immediately as he stepped out of the apartment complex. Logan stuffed his hands inside the pocket of his leather jacket as he walked down the block. The neighborhood was pleseantly and eerily quiet. Pleasant to the point where silence was calming and eerie where one had to be on guard. Even if this part of town was peaceful Logan was not going to let that stop him from being alert. Idiots trying to mug anyone out late at night popped out at the least expected places.

So far no one was outside. All from what his heightened hearing and sight could tell him it was empty. Meaning he was the only one out walking the streets late at night. Which was fine to him.

Walking down the sixth block Logan spotted a purple neon sign a short distance away. Briskly walking towards it he read the sign which was surprisingly written in Kanji.

He raised an inquisitive eyebrow and read it aloud. "Mt. Fuji Pub huh?

Peering inside it looked what appeared to be a very medium sized bar. No one was inside aside from the bartender behind the counter. Just the way he preferred it.

He stepped inside alerting the bartender of his presence. Logan got a good look at the man as he turned towards him the moment he opened the door. He was of Asian ethnicity who appeared to be middle aged with an average height. His short dark hair had small traces of grey in them. As well as some wrinkles on his face.

His eyes were stern and unmoving. The eyes of someone who has alot of experience and seen nearly everything in his life. The eyes of an old soldier.

"What can I get you?" He asked with a heavily accented voice and nearly perfect english, which held a gravely calm tone it.

"I'll have a beer." Logan simply replied as sat on the stool. The bartender nodded and went to go pick up his order.

The Feral Mutant glanced up at the the television that was currently broadcasting some late night debate. The subject of course was on the Justice League. Both trying to one up the other with the opinions of them.

Logan only rolled his eyes at the monitor. He wanted to spend at least night without having to hear about that club of super heroes. But unfortunately everytime he tried avoiding regarding them whether it be directly or indirectly news about them would pop again when he was near.

The sound of a glass bottle skidding across snapped his attention away from the debate. Logan saw that it was the beer he ordered. He nodded in thanks at the bartender and started drinking.

The bartender grabbed a clean cloth and started to wipe down the counter whilst keeping his attention on the television. One of them said something made him smirk and snort in amusement.

Logan quirked an eyebrow at that reaction from him. "What's funny?"

The man glanced at his customer. The smirk never leaving his face. "Both are to caught in their own biases to see that they both have weak stances on the matter."

Logan just gave him lighthearted grunt, silently telling the bartender what he really thought of it. Though he couldn't deny that he shared some of his feelings on these stupid debates.

Silence soon followed in the bar aside from the chatter coming from TV, which he easily ignored. Logan allowed himself to take slow chugs of his beer, savoring every taste the alcoholic liquid had to offer. He just stared down at the wooden counter. Or in actuality he was staring through it for lack of a better term. The distant look in his eyes and heavy frown said it all.

The nightmare was still replaying in his mind. He commited every detail he saw to memory. It made his stomach twist and turn. He really wished that it was all just that, a nightmare. But it wasn't. It was a reality that he had comes to grip with.

"You look like someone who is living with alot of regret." The old mans blatant statement broke him out of his thoughts as he snapped his head up to look at him. The bartender was looking at him with an observational look in his eyes.

Logan let out an rueful chuckle. "Was I that obvious?"

He slung the cloth over his shoulder and crossed his arms. "I've seen alot of people come to my bar with problems they try to drown away with the shot of a glass. Fired from their job, spouses cheating on the other, the usual. But you... "

"Me?"

"Out of all those who've sat these stools I can tell whatever is troubling you is far to unique for any man to shoulder."

Thre feral mutant could only stare at him silently. The old man had him practically pegged.

His stern eyes shifted towards something a little more sympathetic. "I'm a war veteran. I can see it your eyes. Many soldiers that I know are still living with it."

Logan involuntary winced. He knew what he was referring to. The old bartender could easily see right through him to a degree. It was something that he always hated. People always being to figure him out like a basic math equation. He didn't come to this bar to be reminded of what he did. He came here so he manage the nightmares a little better with a drink.

He quickly guzzled down the entire beer. Got out his wallet and slammed the money on the counter. Logan briskly headed for the door, hoping the dreams will not be as brutal as they were earlier when returns for some much needed sleep.

"I'm always here whenever you want to talk about it."

Once again the old mans voice made Logan's body tense with irritation and apprehension. The apprehension though was outweighing his anger. He was actually considering the offer of being able to talk to this stranger. From what he could guess he knew what it was like to bear the burden of those you've killed. Whether it was deserving or not. The bartender was once a soldier after all.

Glancing at him Logan could only say the words that he wished would stay in his mouth. "When're you available?"

His aged face lit up with a smile. "I'm still open late on weekends. Don't worry, most people don't come to my bar even during those days. So privacy won't be an issue." He replied with an assured tone.

Logan felt a sense of slight relief and appreciation. This old man was willing to go out of his way to lend him his ear. He didn't have to do this but he was regardless.

"Thanks, uh..."

"Takehashi."

"Logan."

"The pleasure was mine Logan. Go home and try to get some sleep." The way he said that was laced with such understanding.

"Yeah."

With that he left and took a slow long walk back to his apartment. Where the nightmares would be awaiting his return.

Here is the third chapter. Thankfully it didn't take another couple of years to update. I know many were expecting Wolverine to join the Justice League but nope. He still has some things that he needs to sort out.

Feedback is always welcome.
