Dovewing wandered through the forest, oblivious to the siamese sneaking up on her through the undergrowth. Maple jumped out from behind a pine tree and scared Dovewing. She backed away from her slowly before realizing who she was. She sat down, her green eyes smooth in the daylight.

"I suppose you are going to rant about me like you did Hollyleaf?" Maple nodded.

"Let's not waste any time, I have a special event to plan," she mewed distractedly. She waved her tail for Dovewing to follow her in the direction of the ThunderClan border. Dovewing followed reluctantly until the ThunderClan camp came into view. As Maple walked down the path to the bottom of the ravine, Dovewing hung back. Maple turned to her. "What are you waiting for?" Cats were walking around the camp, but they seemed unaware of their presence. Dovewing looked back to Maple.

"Are you sure this is okay? Won't they see us?" Dovewing fretted. Maple burst out laughing. Wow, she's so ignorant.

"Don't worry about it, you're almost as innocent as Ferncloud, they can't see us because this is just an illusion. None of this is real." Dovewing hesitated before following her down into the heart of the camp.

They walked toward the brambles that made up the nursery. Peering inside, she could see Whitewing nursing Dovewing and Ivypool when they were still Dovekit and Ivykit. Dovewing seemed confused. "What are we doing here? I don't think there's anything here for you to complain about," Dovewing remarked. Maple rolled her eyes. "Well, duh, I had to show you this before you turned around." The gray she-cat looked at her in shock before turning around. The camp had changed, and Dovepaw and Ivypaw were arguing in the clearing. Their words couldn't be made out, but when Ivypaw stomped away to the apprentices' den and left Dovewing all alone in the clearing, it wasn't a mystery what they were arguing about. Maple shook her head slowly as Dovepaw miserably padded out of the camp. Dovewing faced her, fear in her eyes as Maple stood with her eyes closed and an expression of suppressed frustration. "Now, tell me what on earth that was," she meowed flatly. Dovewing turned her head toward Maple who sat down neatly with her fluffy tail over her paws. The gray she-cat looked confused.

"What do you mean?"

"What I mean is why on earth did you just let Ivypool guilt trip you? You let her throw you around like you were a limp piece of prey! If I was you, I would have realized that she was being a drama queen about everything. No point in trying to help someone who won't even help themselves," she growled, eyeing Ivypaw angrily.

Dovewing shook her head rapidly. "She is my sister, I couldn't just ignore her feelings!" she defended. Maple shrugged.

"Guess you really helped her feelings there, you very much succeeded at making her feel better and eliminated her jealousy completely," she meowed sarcastically. Dovewing flattened her ears to her head. "I didn't know that what I was doing wasn't helping her at all, I just wanted to be close to her again but we never got the relationship we dreamed of," she admitted. "Now that I live in ShadowClan, it's too late."

Maple shrugged. "I suppose some people just don't want to feel better. If you both wanted the same thing, you would have gotten it, no?"

Dovewing sighed. "I guess."

"Well, no point in dwelling on that, we have other things we have to discuss." Maple waved her tail for Dovewing to follow her into the medicine den. Flipclaw was sniffing the herbs in confusion.

"I think this is comfrey?" he asked himself. Dovewing turned to Maple.

"Why is he here? This doesn't match this time period nor the current timeline, why is he here?" she asked Maple. The siamese rolled her eyes.

"He's still the medicine cat because I stopped reading the Broken Code to read Squirrelflight's Hope. The last time I read the books Flipclaw was still the medicine cat and Bramblestar had just been captured, sorry I don't know what has happened since then." Dovewing shrugged as Maple turned around and ducked back outside the medicine den.

Dovewing followed and flinched as she saw herself standing at the entrance to the camp with her newborn kits at her legs. Maple looked back at Dovewing with unhidden judgemental eyes. The gray she-cat by the camp entrance looked guilty as her Clanmates congratulated her for returning.

Splinters seemed to stab Dovewing's heart as her past self broke the news to her Clanmates.

Their eyes quickly turned to expressions of hurt, anger, and complete rejection. Ivypool stared at her sister in disbelief as the news was broken to her. Without a word, she ducked into the nursery and shooed her kits inside. Maple faced the Dovewing standing next to her and shook her head slowly.

"After everything you did for ThunderClan, you dared to leave everything behind to be with your mate. There wasn't even any conflict between your loyalty to ThunderClan and ShadowClan, you just kept on ShadowClan's side the second you arrived in camp for every single conflict since!" Dovewing watched the scene as Maple scolded her. "You left your family, your leader, and your Clan. It was not only an insult to ThunderClan but also completely unrealistic. Remember when ShadowClan threatened to take the Sister's land for themselves? You showed no signs of rejecting that idea even though they were accusing ThunderClan of being selfish! They were just trying to protect a pregnant queen, and in the end, you lost two lives to your Clan's selfishness. Tigerstar is repeatedly immeasurably cruel, and you do nothing to stop him!" Dovewing hissed defiantly.

"He's my mate! And besides, I shouldn't hold any loyalties to ThunderClan when I don't even live there anymore," she meowed more calmly. Maple shook her head.

"Regardless, you still left your Clan, the first cat in history to do that for a cross-Clan mate, excluding Dawn of the Clans who get free passes because they were still figuring things out." Dovewing rolled her eyes in frustration.

"I don't regret my decision. If I hadn't left ThunderClan, what would have come of Shadowsight, Lightleap, and Pouncstep? They would have become ThunderClan warriors, and the false Bramblestar matter could have had a totally different outcome." Maple nodded.

"Yes it would, and it would also have made that situation a whole lot easier. If Shadowsight still had his visions, it would have been easier for his theories and experiences to be better distributed in the victim Clan, so the impostor wouldn't have had a chance. But then again, he didn't have anything special. 'Bramblestar' could have chosen any medicine cat, it didn't have to be Shadowsight," Maple pointed out. Dovewing grunted and looked away from her to the ground, her eyes fixed in anger, frustration, and a stubbornness that kept her from admitting what Maple said somewhat made sense. Maple draped her tail over the gray she-cat's back as the scene dissolved before them and they were left in a dark abyss. Dovewing looked up at Maple with mesmerized eyes.

"It's okay, Dovewing. At least you are better than your useless sister," Maple remarked, taking a look at Dovewing's eyes that seemed to say, 'seriously?'. "I mean, no offense," she corrected. The light-gray she-cat's eyes danced with laughter.

"Yeah, now that I look back she was kinda bratty," she admitted, letting out a laugh. Maple pressed up against her.

"Time to get you home . . ."
