While the Plantars were packing up for their trip to Newtopia while also having some comically wacky shenanigans. Anne and Charlie were getting supplies around town to make sure they can disaster proof the Plantar's home. After getting more supplies, they headed to Leopold Loggle's wood crafting shop.
The wood crafting shop appeared to have been carved from a thick tree or the stump of it, with branches hanging of either side of the shop. One of them carrying the shop's sign "Leopold Loggle's" with 3 additional signs hanging under it stating "Chairs, Tables, and Limbs." The wood shop had a pale blue-green front door with two round windows above with wooden crosses embedded in them. Logs of wood and and tools such as an axe and saw was seen outside the shop. The shop resembled Loggle himself, just made out of wood.
Charlie managed to lugged the supplies they had with them towards the shop outside and dropped them near the door. Charlie managed to handle most of the heavy lifting for Anne. They were placed in a large bag.
"How is it your so strong or stronger than I remember?" panted Anne.
"I know I said I was physically active at a family own fitness gym or more but for some reason. I feel like I'm able to handle more." panted Charlie.
Anne knew it had to be ether him being physically active in Amphibia that did it or having something to do with when some strange magic happened to him when he battled Sasha. She remembered his eyes and hair turned gold and his muscular body grew a bit larger in muscular body form. Something Anne, the Plantars and everyone in Wartwood wondered where it came from. They knocked on the front door and opened it as they walked inside.
They found Leopold was getting done watering a plant that has been growing beautifully like he really knew how to do garden work. He turned to see both Anne and Charlie enter his shop.
"Oh! Hiya, kids. Let me guess. Disaster-proofing your house?" guessed Leopold.
"Just like the women in my house did when they first moved in with me, my mom and my aunt." answered Charlie.
Anne looked at Charlie with surprise as if not expecting him to reveal such an event he remembers.
"It was during their first time helping my mom and my aunt raise me when it was the first few weeks of them living with us. Boy Kagura spoiled me a lot back than that I'm surprised I didn't get fat within a week." said Charlie blushing.
"At least their hearts were in the right place." said Anne kindly. "Leopold, we got everything we need for the house. Just need something for the crops. The very heart and soul of a farm. You got anything for that?"
"As a matter of fact I do." said Leopold without pausing as he finished his sentence without a problem. "And I'm grateful to Charlie for what he did to heal my voice box. Praise God. Praise the Lord."
Leopold lead the way to another part of the room of the shop as Anne and Charlie followed. Leopold pulled a curtain and shown what looked like a wooden barrel with green liquid spilled on parts of the barrel. There was a slip of paper on it with symbol on it. Leopold walked up on a step stool and opened the lid to it as both Anne and Charlie gasped at the sight of it.
"My latest concoction. This gunk won't just protect your crops, it'll awaken a power within them. A power, some would say, that's better left..." Leopold began.
"We'll take it." Anne interrupted.
"Wait, really? Don't you wanna hear the rest of my cryptic warning?" said Leopold looking worried.
"Anne, maybe we should." Charlie began.
"Hmm, nope. If it'll work in keeping the crops protected, than we can handle it." Anne chimed in.
"Works for me. Cash or credit?" asked Leopold with a grin.
Anne whispered in Leopold's ear to let him know what the payment method would be and before Charlie could say a word. Anne paid for the concoction and rolled the barrel out towards the door but had to move it on the side to fit it out the door.
"Anne wait up!" called Charlie. "Leopold, what was the rest of that warning you spoke of?"
Leopold motioned him closely and the boy leaned in to listen to the old male Axolotl as he whispered it into his human ear and what he told Charlie had left him wide eyed.
Back at the Plantar's Farm
Anne had miraculously got the bag of supplies and the barrel over to the Plantar's house and she donned on a pair of goggles and a yellow hard hat helmet. She placed a pair of ear plugs in her ears that were connected to her phone. She swiped her finger on the phone's screen to play Techno music. She put on a pair of work gloves.
As she got to work, it looked like she was able to get her plan working fast as she built a fence around part of the house, placed a bunch of weapons in a hole she dug, she hammered in what look like spikes all around the outside of the house with various traps and weapons set around it. She was looking like she wanted to fortify the house like a fortress.
She placed huge mouse traps around the ground of the property, placed barbed wire around the mailbox. She turned the music off from her phone when it looked like she was done fortifying around the house. Charlie managed to catch up to her but he saw Anne from a distance and saw how she was dressed. He blushed with a grin.
"Awww, my handy-Anne sure can make any outfit work." said Charlie cutely.
That's when Anne opened up the barrel that they got from Leopold. That's when Charlie's panic returned and remembered what Leopold said to him about the concoction he made. He took off running towards Anne.
"Anne wait! It's dangerous!" called Charlie.
Charlie was too late. Anne dumped the entire contents of the barrel on all the crops and it instantly absorbed the green liquid like water to a sponge, causing the crops to to briefly glow a green light. Charlie caught up to her as the Plantars came out of the house with a suit case or more, fully packed. Anne turned to Charlie as he caught with them. They saw what the area of their house looked like that got fortified as Hop Pop looked impressed.
"Wow. Chuck really outdid himself. Ain't nothing happening to this place while we're gone." said Hop Pop.
"Guys, we got a situation. Anne, Leopold told me what happens if you use too much of that goop on the crops. Oh man, oh man, oh man! Game over, man. Game over!" said Charlie in a panic.
Before any of them could ask what Charlie was talking about. The ground around the crops shook like a tremor. The crops started to form and grow limbs, mouths, even faces. Some of them made grunts and animal like hissing sounds. They turned their attention to Anne, Charlie and the Plantars.
"Oh shit." said Charlie horrified.
"Veggie monsters." gasped Hop Pop.
"I've had this nightmare before." said Polly wide eyed.
"Oh, wow. How could this have happened?" said Anne playing dumb.
"Don't worry, fam. I got this. Fly true, Silver..." said Sprig stepping in ready to use us slingshot.
He was about to use his slingshot but Sprig lost his grip on the handle and the sling rebounded on itself, causing the slingshot to hit Sprig in his face, temporarily knocking him to the ground. Polly let out a laugh about his comical fail but her laughter was interrupted when a green vine wrapped around her and she got pulled closer to the huge monster turnip.
"Polly!" cried Anne. "All right, everyone, action time!"
Anne pulled out her sword and tennis racket, Hop Pop was going to use his suitcase as a weapon while Sprig's weapon of choice was his slingshot. Charlie obeyed Anne and he got out his samurai sword. They let out a battle cry and began to fight back against the veggie monsters.
Anne used her sword to lop off an eggplant monster's head, completely decapitating it. Hop Pop pulled out a giant cheese grater that was big as himself or larger, using it to slice and dice a huge potato monster into nothing but slices like he peeling the skin off a potato.
"Hash browns!" cried Hop Pop.
Sprig got up and used his slingshot as he bounced high up into the air towards Polly as he sliced the vines that she was caught in, freeing her.
"I'm sorry for messing with ya. Now sling me!" Polly commanded.
Sprig obeyed and used Polly on his slingshot and pulled on the sling and let go as Polly was launched at the monster turnip and pumpkin, she was fired at them with great force that she crashed through their bodies like a bullet. She than bounced off the wooden fence post that Anne put up and back at Hop Pop as the older male frog caught her like a baseball. Charlie had used a great amount of speed on his feet as he sliced up rest remaining veggie monsters with his sword and he was going through them so fast that it was like child's play to him.
"Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack." said Charlie mimicking a rapper's voice.
After they've stopped fighting and the veggie monsters appeared to be defeated. They saw that the veggie monsters were destroyed.
"Shōri wa wareware no monoda!" cheered Charlie.
"We did it! And the house is undamaged!" panted Anne.
Their victory was short lived when a loud rumbling was heard from the ground. They turned to see the remains of the veggie monsters crawling around and now forming together when vines tied and connected to one another and formed to have a humanoid form with bulky proportions. Being an amalgamation of the various mutated plants, its parts are from different species of vegetables such as turnips and radishes for its right shoulder, right thigh, and left leg; pumpkins for its torso, arms, and left shoulder, a potato for its right shin, eggplants for its feet, and a head made from two carrots pointing out like two horns. All stitched together by the roots and vines of the constituents. On its left arm is vine tendrils where its hand should be. It had a neon green glow due to the potion, emitting from its veins, eyes, and mouth. On its forehead is a purple gem-like feature. It made loud monstrous growls.
"Cool!" said Polly looking thrilled.
The thrill was short lived as the monster used a fist to punch at both Hop Pop, Sprig and Polly. Sending them flying over towards the stoned wall that leads around parts of the house, it knocked them dizzy.
"No!" cried Anne and Charlie in unison.
The monster approached the two humans and was about to attack but it stepped on one of the giant mouse traps that Anne set up, causing it to hiss in pain and shriek as it was losing it's footing as if slipping on a wet bar of soap.
"Yes!" said Anne victoriously.
The giant veggie monster stumbled towards the house and both Anne and Charlie's victorious feeling was starting to turn to the opposite of what they're feeling.
"Wait, no! Don't go that way. That's toward the house." said Anne panicking.
"Noooooo!" screamed Charlie in desperation.
The monster stumbled and fell backwards, landing on the Plantar's house and it caved under the veggie monster's weight and body mass. Shock was painted upon their faces, the house damaged beyond repair. A few tears shed from Anne and Charlie's eyes.
"The house. Everything we worked so hard to protect." said Anne in shock.
When the monster got up. That's when a fit of anger kicked into the two humans and the monster tried to stomp on them but they dodged his foot. An stoic expression of rage was on the two human teenager's faces as they grabbed hold of their swords.
"Oh, you just made a big mistake, buddy." said Anne her eyes glowing a blue light.
"Let's kill this mother fucker!" said Charlie as his eyes glowed a gold light.
The giant monster got up on it's feet and raised a fist and attempted to punch both Anne and Charlie into oblivion but the two humans dodged it's attack and flipped into the air, now running up it's arm and dodging any of it's attacks as they let out a battle cry, causing the giant monster to yelp in fear.
"Atama no tame ni ikimasu!" screamed Charlie.
"Together!" cried Anne.
They let out one more battle cry and jumped forwards to the monster's face. Both Anne and Charlie stabbed the giant monster of vegetables in it's head with their swords, causing the punctures left by the swords to leak the same neon green liquid as the monster fell to the ground with a loud thud, causing a big cloud of smoke to appear.
As the Plantar's looked on, the smoke cleared and they saw that the giant monster was dead. Anne spat out a large piece of the turnip.
"Eat your vegetables." said Anne looking stoic.
The glowing color from their eyes turned back to their normal eye colors. The giant veggie monster completely destroyed.
"Guys!" cried Sprig.
Sprig jumped forwards and Anne caught him in her arms to hug each other.
"That was amazing." said Sprig cheerfully.
"You saved our tails." said Polly with a grin.
"Yeah, but the house." Anne added sadly.
"The important thing is we're all okay. It's not ya'lls fault a mysterious green energy turned the crops evil." said Hop Pop looking glad they're all in one piece.
A big sense of guilt hit the two human teenagers like a ton of bricks. Charlie was on the verge of breaking down and feared facing any sort of wrath.
"Actually, it is." said Anne sadly.
Anne set Sprig back on his feet. The three frogs looked at them in shock.
"Say what?" said Hop Pop wide eyed.
"But why? How?" asked a shocked Sprig.
"So, uh, it's kind of a funny story." Anne began.
Charlie gave in and blurted out everything really fast as he was on the verge of tears.
"We got rid of Chuck, then we fortified the house and maybe fed the crops some evil curse magic Loggle made. We just wanted the house to be safe while you guys were taking this big trip for us. I helped her and we're guilty!" Charlie blurted it out really fast and broke down.
They looked at the crying, fear stricken Charlie as he admitted the truth in a panicked tone. Anne knew she too was just as guilty.
"Pretty much that. I'm also just as guilty. Charlie tried to tell me not to use that cursed magic green slime but he caught up to me too late." Anne admitted.
Anne wrapped her arms around Charlie to hug him and console him while the Plantars were not wrathful at all. Anne's comfort to Charlie was showing it was working.
"Don't be hard on Charlie. I he only went along with the plan. We just wanted the house to be safe while you guys were taking this big trip for us." said Anne with a sigh.
The three frogs looked at them with sympathetic expressions.
"Charlie, you and Anne are in no trouble." said Hop Pop.
Charlie's grieving ceased and his tears stopped. He looked back at them and saw no anger, no wrath, no hostility. Only sympathy and forgiveness.
"Anne, Charlie, we're not taking this trip for you. We're taking it with you." said Hop Pop with a word of comfort.
"We got your backs no matter what." said Sprig.
The three frogs gave the two a hug and it felt like a big weight was lifted off their backs, especially Charlie.
"We're sorry that the chaos lead to this. But just so you guys know, we never intended or meant for this to happen to your house and all." said Charlie wiping away his tears.
"Thanks, fam. That... That means a lot to us." said Anne shedding a tear. "We can hold off on Newtopia. We'll fix the house first."
"Same here." Charlie chimed in.
"No need." said Hop Pop.
The two humans and the two frog children were wondering what Hop Pop meant but they got their answer when he pulled out what looked like a lemon yellow tulip the size of a football. He pressed his lips on it and it made the sound of a musical horn that could be heard from anywhere in Wartwood.
Another rumbling sound was heard and what looked like a huge cloud of smoke was coming over towards them with what looked like various tools being tossed around it and it reached the house. What happened next was so miraculous that it was hard to believe if no one saw it. They saw the big cloud of smoke going all over the house and the property going beyond the house.
The sound of various tools being used was heard loudly and when the cloud of smoke eventually cleared. It shown the house was fully rebuilt, the property outside was repaired and the remains of the giant veggie monster was gone. They saw Chuck standing near the front entrance of the house, holding a saw in one hand.
"I grow tulips." said Chuck with a grin.
"Hoopa da boopa." said Anne wide eyed.
"Why do you think I hired Chuck in the first place?" chuckled Hop Pop.
Anne and Charlie were so overjoyed that Charlie sucked in a big amount of air and joyously sung an operatic singing note so melodious in overjoyed relief that it lasted a good thirteen seconds. He stopped afterwards.
"Wow! He's still got it!" everyone but Charlie said in unison.
"Chuck! Sorry, I doubted you, dude." called Anne.
"Same from me." called Charlie.
"I grow tulips." said Chuck proudly tipping his hat.
"Yes, he does." said Hop Pop proudly. "All right, kids. It's a two-week journey to Newtopia so we better get going."
"Whoo-hoo! Yeah!" cried Sprig excitedly.
"Let's go!" cried Polly excitedly.
Sprig and Polly were the first to scramble inside the caravan while Hop Pop, Anne and Charlie walked up to it. Charlie pulled out the key that Hop Pop gave to Anne.
"Hey Chuck, keep the house key with ya!" called Charlie.
Charlie tossed the key towards Chuck and he hopped up into the air and caught it and landed on his feet. Chuck smiled and gave him a thumbs up while Charlie did the same for him.
"How did you?" began Anne.
"During the battle against the veggie monster. You dropped the key and I put it in my pocket when you guys weren't looking." answered Charlie.
Anne pulled Charlie in to kiss him on his cheek, causing him to blush, grin and let out a happy squeal for a brief moment.
"I'm gonna go inside the fwagon and check out the nice digs." said Charlie chuckling happily.
Charlie climbed into the caravan while Anne turned her attention to Hop Pop.
"Hey, Hop Pop. I was thinking... wouldn't it be a good idea to bring the music box with us on the trip?" suggested Anne.
Hop Pop's smile faded as he was remembering that he buried the music box near the tree that was close to the house and he knew that he had his reasons for burying it there without telling anyone. He managed to smile.
"Oh, uh... No, no, no. Uh, it'll be safe with my contacts for the time being." lied Hop Pop.
"All right, HP. I trust your judgment." said Anne in agreement.
Anne walked inside the caravan and when no one was looking. Hop Pop's smile turned to a frown of shame, he knew he lied to Anne about what he did with the mysterious music box. He even lied to Sprig, Polly, and worst of all, he lied to Charlie about it which he knew that Charlie was just starting to begin getting over his daddy issues as the two were becoming like father and son. He knew that one day, he'll have to tell them the truth but now wasn't the right time. He forced a smile and closed the door to the caravan.
"Well, let's get this fwagon on the road. No turnin' back now." called Hop Pop.
The older male frog hopped up high into the air and landed on the driver's seat. He grabbed the reigns and flapped them gently, signaling for Bessie to go forwards as Bessie lead the way onto the road.
"Did we give the key to Chuck?" asked Anne curiously.
"We're turning back now." answered Hop Pop.
"I already gave Chuck the key." Charlie told them.
"Onward!" said Hop Pop.
There was a loud, audible sound and it sounded like someone had let out a really loud and big fart. Everyone in the caravan was able to smell it this time.
"Who farted?" chuckled Polly. "Was that you, Charlie?"
"That wasn't Charlie." laughed Anne,
The kids started to laugh about the farting as they found farts to be funny. The trip to Newtopia had begun.
