Power Put to the Test
Okay howdy again, here's chapter 3, if yall made it this far before I go edit crazy on how bad this actually is then I appreciate you! If you are following this story because you followed the original fanfic I wrote, then that's a lot of dedication, and what I'm about to say next you might not believe, but I WILL stay active on this story, I will not leave it for years like I did before. After I finish rewriting the chapters I have to rewrite, I'll go back add more detail to the chapters, then write the next chapter.
Things will start changing from Shadow Masters sooner rather than later, because only have 2 jutsu and not 11 makes a huge difference in how things can play out.
I have 2 reviews to reply to since they are stuff that don't change the story line I have going and are just comments or questions that I can answer.
Thtadthtshldntb: You may very well be right, that Naruto didn't actually tap into the Kyubi's chakra when he beat Mizuki, but for this stories sake, we're just going with the fact that a tiny amount of it was used making him glow orange.
JM of hell: Okay so for prices of bread and the likes, right now I have no idea on how I price those kind've things, I'm just gonna have it where the essentials are already accounted for based on D rank missions, kind've like rent is. For Kunai and Shuriken and the likes, I don't remember the small details of my first fic, which this is a rewrite with a twist of, so I don't wanna give a value on them or whether I do or don't, until that pops up. If you are still following this story by chapter 18, and I don't have anything on that, I'd appreciate you reminding me, because that's when this actually will stray away from lazy writing (Which as I mentioned I will be going back eventually so these chapters aren't just all dialogue and the scene is actually visualized)

Team 7 passed their "True Genin Test," and Kakashi taught naruto how to use the Chakra weights.
It had been 2 weeks since Team 7 started doing team building exercises and D rank missions and Naruto was tired of them, and wanted a real mission so today he'd ask the Hokage. Right now they were there to get a new mission.
"Hey old man can you give us a higher ranked mission?" Nauto asked nicely without a shout, which surprised Kakashi, because Naruto was a big mouth, and he expected Naruto to shout at the top of his lungs for a better mission, demanding it. "You see, I want to try my new jutsu somewhere. I'm ready, and Sasuke-teme over there may be stuck up, but he's ready, and lastly Sakura-chan may not be ready, but she will learn from this, and if anything happens we gave Kakashi-sensei who is an A-Ranked ninja, and one who has copied over a thousand jutsu" The reasoning shocked Kakashi even more, it even shocked his teammates, but what Kakashi wanted to know is how Naruto knew parts of his Bingo Book entry. You had to be at least Jonin, or on a mission that it'd come in handy as a Chunin to get one, or just really lucky and to find it on a corpse.
The mask wearer shuddered at the thought that Naruto had looted a dead body.
"I can see where you're coming from Naruto-kun, but it is up to your Sensei on whether you are ready for one or not" The Hokage then looked at Kakashi. "So do you think they are ready for a C-rank mission?"
"I'll actually leave it up to the team to decide"
"Hn, if the Dobe thinks he's ready, I KNOW I am." Sasuke said arrogantly. He actually agreed with the blonde that the D ranks were not up to par with his talents, he wasn't improving by dog walking, painting fences, or babysitting. Why the hell would Ninja be in charge of those things?
"Yeah what he said" Sakura said giggling maniacally
"I guess that's a yes Hokage-sama"
"Okay I have a C-rank ready right here, it'll be an escort mission to the land of waves." After he said that a drunken old man walked into the room. "And here's your client."
The trio of Genin wondered how he could just walk in like that, someone must've let him in.
"I asked for top class protection, not some brats" The drunk said.
"I can assure you my team is capable, and if anything happens I'm an elite Jonin" Kakashi assured the man with a smile "We'll meet at the gates in an hour"
"Okay see you in 3 hours sensei" Naruto said like a smart ass
Kakashi ignored it and Shunshined away.

(At the Gate)
Naruto arrived 2 hours later, knowing his Sensei was going to be late.
"You're late" Yelled Sakura.
"I don't see Kakashi-sensei, so that means I'm not late. Look, the client is just arriving anyways" Naruto replied.
"Turns out you were right brat" The client said
"See Tazuna, I told you" Naruto said revealing the drunks name.
20 minutes later Kakashi arrived
"You're late" Sakura yelled and at that Naruto laughed at Sakura claiming Kakashi was actually early.
Confused, Sakura asked "What do you mean?" Why was this baka laughing at her, was the question circling her mind.
"Well Kakashi-sensei is late to everything that isn't an A rank or S rank mission, 3 hours late to be exact. Today he is only 2 hours 20 minutes late, and it's only a C rank mission"
Tazuna, Sakura, Kakashi, and even Sasuke looked at him like they were looking at someone different, so Naruto decided to say "When the Hokage told me why Shadow-Clones are special I decided to do research on Konoha's Elite Jonin, and all A ranked or higher ninja in the Bingo Book."
"Naruto, I'm not saying you stole that Bingo Book, but only Jonin and ANBU have access to it and some Chunin who go on missions that can go wrong, and even then only the team Captain gets one." Kakashi was seriously starting to believe Naruto looted a corpse.
"Well, Jiji gave it to me as a present"
Why would the Hokage give Naruto a bingo book? He could read Nartuo's body language and could tell the kid wasn't lying, and he very well knew that Naruto was basically the Hokage's honorary grandson, but a bingo book is still a bit much for a new Genin. "Very well. Your knowledge of the Bingo Book will help you later on. Well let's get going."
A 5 minute walk after leaving gates, Kakashi, and somehow Naruto spotted two odd puddles, but both decided to ignore them.
Well Kakashi didn't' want to alert his team that something was fishy, to see how they'd react, and Naruto just wondered why there was water when it hasn't rained in a while, but didn't pay too much mind to it.
Two ninja jumped out, one from each puddle, and "Killed" Kakashi.
"SENSEI!" all 3 Genin shouted.
Naruto did the hand signs for Into The Shadows, jumped into his Shadow, and appeared behind one of the two Ninja stabbing him with a Kunai.
Said Ninja yelled in Pain and a shout of "Brother" was heard by the other Ninja.
Naruto disappeared into the shadows again, and appeared behind the second Ninja aiming to punch him in the back, but unfortunately for the second Ninja, he turned around once he sensed Naruto and got punched in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him and knocking him out.
Sakura was still shaking at the fact that their Sensei was dead, she was frozen still, but watching Naruto fight.
Sasuke wasn't much better off, he wasn't frozen, but he didn't know what to do and just watched what was going on.
The first of the two ninja threw the chain from his gauntlet at Naruto, cutting his arm. Naruto with adrenaline rushing through him, just made 5 shadow clones, all 5 copies, plus himself used Into The shadows and popped up one by one behind the nin, whenever he turned there was one at his back. They sliced at him with Kunai, and suddenly his body was limp.
Naruto had killed for the first time. He fell to one knee and panted.
Kakashi was not expecting that, he just wanted to see who their original target was, was it his team, him, or Tazuna? He wasn't expecting Naruto to fight off two Chunin Missing-Nin and to win without his help. He also was not expecting Naruto to kill one.
He'll need to talk with the orange wearing genin about his first kill.
"Good job Naruto, we'll talk later but I need to talk to Tazuna-san first." Everyone other than Naruto looked shocked that Kakashi was still alive, Naruto not showing shock because he was staring at his hands.
Sasuke was angry that he couldn't do anything while the dobe apparently was performing Jutsu with great results.
Kakashi found out what was happening and that this mission was already B ranked and might turn A ranked.
There would most likely be more nin after Tazuna.
Kakashi went to Naruto "So Naruto I know you just had your first kill" no icha icha book in sight, just Kakashi looking at Naruto with pain in his one visible eye.
"Am I really a monster? Are the villagers right?"
"NO! You are not, this is just the life of a ninja." Naruto wasn't fully convinced, but just got up. Kakashi then continued "So we'll talk about this more afterwards, but right now, how did you perform Into The Shadows? This is a Jutsu that hasn't been seen in many years, last person to perform it to my knowledge was Shikatar nara"
"Uh… I learned it from the Scroll of Seals, and yes the Hokage knows." Naruto replied.
"But how did you learn Into the Shadows?" Kakashi was a little flabbergasted "I understand you learned it from the scroll of seals, but how? No Nara since Shikatar has been able to perform it, and they are the shadow Jutsu specialists."
"Well I just think of hiding and then think of what way I want to move" Naruto said, getting a shocked Kakashi, because it's so simple yet so complicated. Naruto and Kakashi talked some more then they reached wave after traveling on a boat. They discussed Naruto's first kill.
Before they left Kakashi sent a messenger bird to the Hokage giving him the updates on what happened, also locked Gozu, the nin that was knocked out, up to a tree, knowing the Hokage would send an Anbu to interrogate him, while sealing away the dead Meizu, for his bounty to be collected later.

Into The Shadows: User becomes part of the shadow and move freely with it
Most Jutsu are made up just so everyone knows.
This note is from the original, so I'm leaving it for shits and giggles.
Naruto isn't overpowered, but is strong. If it was anyone aside from Naruto with just the Into the Shadows they'd be deadly, but it's Naruto he doesn't use it to its full potential (yet). Well I don't really have anything to say aside from to thank the readers so far, and tell you all if you like it so far you're going to like chapter 5 a lot, cause to me chapters 1-4 suck (you're going to see 4 soon).
