Izuku's American Journey
Ch.3 The Awakening of the quirk and the move to a new land
I would like to welcome everyone to the third installment of Izuku's American Journey and I would like to apologize for being gone so long on this story but have been busy with school but now I have time to pick back up writing.
The chapter will focus on Izuku awakening his quirk and because of the type of quirk that he has, he will get bullied and that will cause him and his mom to move to America. The city where they will be moving to is New Orleans, Louisiana.
He will meet his first new friend who will happen to be the love interest for him in this story. You will find out who that is later in the story but if you read the tag, you should already know. Hisashi died when Izuku was young and more on that will be explained later, so she will be paired with an oc character in this story. I am changing Hisashi's quirk for this story.
I will pick back up after the story with my notes on this chapter and the story going forward and more on some of my other stories and story ideas. The inspiration for this story will be an X-Men story idea.
Since quirks have awakened when the glowing baby appeared, many different types of quirks appeared in this age such as mutation, emitter, enhancement, and etc. People have been mistreated because of whether they have quirks or not because if you are not like them, then you are not accepted in today's society.
Our story follows a young boy named Izuku Midoriya who will fall into the mutation category of quirks. He is a four year old boy with fluffy green hair, green eyes, and freckles, and is your everyday average kid. He is excited because this is the time in which he will awaken his quirk. He and his mom are on their way to his doctor appointment to see what his quirk is.
His mom looks just like him from the green hair to green eyes, she is a lawyer for families to help them, and she is lean and in good shape and her name is Inko Midoriya. "Come on mom, I want to get to the doctor, so I can find out what my quirk is" says Izuku. "Alright sweetie, just be patient because your quirk will appear in no time" says Inko.
The two get in the car and head to the doctor's office so Izuku can find out what his quirk is, and he can start his journey to becoming a hero. Along the way, Izuku starts getting this strange feeling and he is unable to explain it. As they are heading to the doctor's office, the feeling that Izuku is having is getting stronger and stronger.
They arrive at the hospital and head inside for their appointment. The receptionist asks "what are you two here for" to which Inko replies with "my son Izuku is here to see doctor Ujiko to find out what his quirk is." The receptionist tells them to sit in the waiting area and I will contact doctor Ujiko so he can see your son about his quirk. The two only have to wait for ten minutes and then Doctor Ujiko comes out to tell them to head to his office.
The two smile and get up and head to his office. He asks Izuku "are you excited to find out what your quirk is" to which Izuku replies with "yeah and then I can become a hero." The two adults smile at his energy and he leads them to his office. He asks Izuku "have you been acting strange in the past few days" to which Izuku replies with "yeah, I have been getting this strange feeling that is coming from inside me." The doctor smiles and says "I think your quirk is starting to appear but why don't we perform some tests to find out what your quirk is."
While Izuku is walking with the doctor to the test room, the strange feeling he has been getting the past few days is still there and it appears to be getting stronger each time, and he tells the doctor this information, and the doctor smiles and says "your quirk is starting to appear but while don't we go and figure out what your quirk is shall we" to which Izuku replies with "yeah."
The doctor performs an x-ray, blood tests, and other quirk tests to determine what Izuku's quirk is and once they are done, they head back to his office, and he has Izuku wait with his mom, while he goes to get the test results. All the while they were waiting for the results to come, Izuku kept getting this strange feeling from inside him. The doctor arrived after fifteen minutes and told them both the good news about Izuku's quirk.
Doctor Ujiko said "Izuku, I have great news to share with you and that is that you have a quirk and it appears to be a strong one." "What is it" asks both Izuku and his mom? "It is a mutation type quirk and specifically it appears to be a transformation type quirk as well." He asks "has anyone had a transformation type mutation quirk" and Inko says "Izuku's father could transform." She asks "what type of transformation type is it" and the doctor says it is a beast type transformation quirk and that is the strange feelings that your son keeps getting, because he is getting closer to transforming." Izuku says "I can be a great hero now with this quirk" and both the doctor and Inko smile at that. Ujiko says "if you need anything contact my office and I will help you out anyway possible."
Inko and Izuku leave the hospital and go home to relax and wait for Izuku's quirk to awaken. They get home and they go do their individual tasks, with Inko sewing and Izuku reading some old comics in his room. He liked reading about the old group of heroes like the Avengers, Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, but his favorite group was the X-men. He dreamed about being part of their group one day but little did he know, his wish would come true.
The strange feeling he kept getting at the doctor's office came back and it was stronger than ever and he knew this had to do with his quirk. While this was happening, Inko was sitting in the front room sewing and talking to a friend of hers that lives in America. They were talking about how they were doing and they were talking about Izuku's quirk.
"Simon we went to see the doctor today and he said that Izuku's quirk would come in soon" said Inko. Simon is a friend of Inko and Hisashi from America, he was a teammate of Hisashi back in the day when they were on the same hero team. "Do you know what his quirk will be Inko" asked Simon? "The doctor said that it will be a mutation and transformation type of quirk" said Inko. "He also said it would be a beast type quirk" said Inko. Simon was amazed and happy at that and said "it looks like he will have the same type of quirk that Hisashi had." They are both at silent at that as they remember him and Inko says "yeah and I wish he could be here to see him but I know he is watching over us" to which Simon says "yeah he is and I know Izuku will be just like him. Simon asks Inko "how have you been and have you met anyone yet" to which Inko replies "I am good and no I have not met anyone yet." Inko asks Simon "how have you been and have you met anyone yet" to which Simon says "I am good and have not met anyone yet either." They continue to talking to each other about themselves and other topics, little did they know, that an event will occur that will change everything.
While this was happening, Izuku was in his room reading his comic and all the while that strange feeling kept getting stronger and stronger. Izuku wasn't sure how to describe but it felt like something inside him crawling to get out and take form. He put the comic book down and got on the floor so he would not destroy his desk. He grabbed onto his sides as the feeling kept getting stronger and stronger and he started to let out roars.
The roars he kept releasing were getting louder and louder and slowly started to transform. His eyes changed to a darker color of green and fur started to cover his whole body. The clothes he was wearing were ripping, fur continued to cover his body, and he was getting bigger. He finished transforming and he looked into his mirror and saw his reflection, he had darker green eyes, large hands and feet, and a fur colored body. He roared like a beast.
While that was happening Simon and Inko were continuing their conversation and things were normal but then they heard a loud roar and that startled them. Inko said "Simon, I have got to go and check on Izuku" to which Simon said "sure, I will talk to you later Inko." Inko hung up and went to check on Izuku. She opened his door and what she saw shocked her for a second but then smiled when she saw his transformation. She thought to herself, he looks just like Hisashi did when he would transform.
She said "Izuku, congratulations on awakening your quirk" to which Izuku said "mom, what is happening to me and what is this." Inko said "Izuku that is your quirk and you look just like your father when he used his quirk" to which Izuku said "dad used to have a quirk like mine" to which Inko nodded her head in approval. "I am going to call the doctor so we can head back for a visit" to which Izuku said "okay but let me put some sweats on." Inko called the doctor and said "his quirk awakened" to which the doctor told her "bring him in, so I can do a check up to see how he is handling his quirk"
Inko and Izuku got in her car and then went to the hospital to see doctor Ujiko about Izuku's quirk and see what they can find out about it. Inko calls the hospital and tells them they need to meet with Doctor Ujiko because Izuku's quirk has just awakened and we need to know all about it. The receptionists tells them they will be brought to his office when they arrive at the hospital. They arrive at the hospital and they head in and go meet with Doctor Ujiko immediately. Izuku is wearing sweats so that way no one will see what he looks like.
Doctor Ujiko was alerted to the situation and pulled up Izuku's files and was in his office waiting for them. The nurse greets them and takes them to Ujiko's office and closes the door so they can have some privacy while they examine Izuku's quirk. "So I see that Izuku's quirk has activated and you want to find out what type of quirk it is, and how he can control it" said Doctor Ujiko to which Inko replied with "yes doctor."
"Izuku can you please take your sweats off so I can get a look at what your quirk is like, so I can make some observations and get the information to you" replied Doctor Ujiko to which Izuku said "yeah I can" and thus be took off his sweats and showed that he looks like a beast. When the doctor sees Izuku, he is amazed that a quirk like this could exist and he can tell he could become powerful with training. Doctor Ujiko takes Izuku and his mom to the exam room so they can see what his quirk is and they can go from there in assessing the quirk.
Ujiko does blood tests, x-rays, cat scans, and has Izuku do some physical tests so he can get an exact idea what his quirk is, and what he can do with his quirk. The tests take ten minutes and he has them wait in his office while he goes to get the results from the technicians and give them the information on Izuku's quirk. The tests take fifteen minutes and then Doctor Ujiko comes back to his office to deliver the news to Izuku and his mom.
"I have great news for you both and that is I know exactly what your quirk is Izuku" said Doctor Ujiko to which Izuku replied with "what is my quirk?" Inko also asked "what is my son's quirk doctor?" Ujiko said "it is a mutation/transformation type of quirk and the name of this quirk is beast." Inko gasped and said "that is the same type of quirk that my husband had and now I know why it looked so familiar." Izuku was excited that he had the same quirk that his father had and also said "now I can be a great hero with this quirk" to which both adults smile at his attitude. They thank the doctor for everything and head home.
They get home and have some simple lunch and Izuku asks his mom "can I go to the park and show the other kids my quirk" to which Inko replies with "yeah, just be careful dear." Izuku still in his sweats heads to the park to meet his friends and show them his quirk. Inko smiles and watches him leave and says "your look just like your father."
Izuku heads to the park to show his friends what his quirk is and to see what their reaction will be when they find out he has a quirk. Izuku arrives at the park and he sees Bakugo and the two kids who follow him around. Bakugo's quirk is explosion and with it, he can create explosions from his hands through his sweat.
Izuku says "hi to Kaachan and the other kids that are there at the park." They turn and see that Izuku has arrived and wave to him. They ask him where he was and Izuku replied with "I was at the doctor's office because my quirk came in today and I was finding out what it was." Bakugo asks "what is your quirk then" and his two lackeys ask the same thing. Izuku takes off his hoodie and sweat pants and shows his quirk and he is wearing some shorts. Izuku says "my quirk is a transformation type quirk but it can also be classified as a mutation type quirk as well, so what do you guys think?"
Bakugo and the other two kids look at then, look at each other, and then they look back at Izuku and start laughing at him. Izuku is shocked at why they are laughing at him and asks them "why are you guys laughing at me." Bakugo says "you may have a quirk now, but with a quirk like that, you are just a freak and you would scare the other people with that quirk, and also you look like a villain instead." The other two kids agree with Bakugo and with that done, the three decide to leave because they do not want to be in Izuku's presence any longer.
Izuku put on his hoodie and just sat in the swing and cried because of everything that just occurred with the people he thought were his friends. Izuku wondered why people are so mean to people with mutant type quirks and just thinks it isn't fair and he would rather be somewhere else where he would be accepted and not be called a freak. Izuku decides to swing for a while and think about what he is going to do next and then he will head home.
While this is happening at the park, Inko is at home on the phone with Simon and she is telling him about what Izuku's quirk is. Simon is excited at the fact that not only does Izuku have a quirk but he has his dad's quirk as well. Simon says "I am excited for you and for Izuku as well and if Hisashi were here, he would be excited as well. Inko says "I know he would be at not only his son having a quirk but having his quirk as well." Inko is fearful at how he would be treated because of the type of quirk he has and Simon can pick up on this. Simon asks "Inko have you considered coming back to New Orleans here in the United States to live?"
Inko has been pondering moving back to the place where she and Hisashi has lived for a while because of Hisashi's profession and says "I have been considering moving back but wanted to wait for the right time to make that decision. Simon says "you do know there is a hero school here in New Orleans where people with mutant type quirks are accepted" and Inko replies with "yeah and because of that, I have been considering bringing over to the states to live." Inko says "I will call you later because I can hear Izuku coming up the steps."
While on the phone call between Inko and Simon was taking place, Izuku was walking home thinking about what just happened at the park. "I am not looking forward to going to school because I will be called a freak and a mutant, and wish there was some place where I would be accepted." "I could always go to another school, but the same thing that happened at the park, could happen at the other school." Izuku reaches his home and decides to tell his mom about what happened at the park.
Izuku walks in and sees his mom sitting on the couch and sits there as well and says "hi mom in a sad tone" and Inko picks up on his sad tone and asks "what happened at the park to make you this sad?" Izuku says "I went to the park and saw Bakugo and his two friends playing at the park, and they asked me what my quirk is, and I decided to show them." They started laughing at me, and started calling me a freak, a monster, and a villain because of my quirk says Izuku. Inko holds Izuku while he just cries about what happened and Izuku says "I do not want to be here anymore where I will be called a mutant, and want to go somewhere where I will be accepted." Inko hears what he said and remembers her conversation with Simon just ten minutes ago.
Inko tells Izuku "how would you like to go somewhere else and start over" and Izuku asks "where would we go mom?" Inko says "we would go live in the states a place called New Orleans, Louisiana" and Izuku asks "why that place?" Inko says "that is where me and your father lived for the longest time, I have a friend who lives in that area, and also I enjoyed living there when I was there with your father." Izuku ponders this and says he would like to move there to meet the friend of his mom and his father and also live in a new location and make a fresh start, and also live where his father used to live."
Inko tells him that "I will make the call to my friend and let him know our decision and while I am doing this, you can start packing some of your stuff" to which Izuku says "okay mom, I will." Inko calls Simon back and even though it is night over there, he is awake because he is a hero on parol and it happens to be a quiet night. "Simon hears his phone go off and answers the phone seeing it is Izuku, and says "what is going on?" Inko tells him about his bullying and tells him their decision about moving to New Orleans, Louisiana. Simon is excited and says great, and I happen to know of a place available and will send you their contact information.
Inko gets the information and says thanks and talk to you some time, to which Izuku does the same. Inko heads to bed and in the morning she calls the people who are selling the home and says she would like to buy the place, to which they reply with great. Inko makes a direct deposit and they receive it, and says you are the proud new owner of the home. We will leave the key in the mailbox and welcome you to New Orleans, Louisiana. Inko sees Izuku is still packing and in the night while talking with simon, Inko got her stuff packed up. They pack the rest of the stuff and while this is happening, orders the plane tickets to New Orleans, Louisiana. The flight leaves in four hours. They pack the stuff in an hour and a half, Inko breaks the lease on the apartment, and will have their stuff shipped to New Orleans. Inko says their stuff should arrive in about the same time we do. The moving company comes and they load up all their items.
Inko and Izuku head to the airport because they only have an hour before their flight leaves to United States. They reach the airport, check in, and get their tickets and head to the gate where their flight will take off at and wait for about 30 minutes. The announcer comes over the speaker and says people can start boarding the flight heading New Orleans. Inko messages Simon and says we are boarding now and will be there in about fourteen hours and she will message him when they get into New Orleans.
They board the plane and get situated for the long flight to New Orleans where they will start over and make new memories and friends. The plane takes off and is on the way to New Orleans. Inko decides she will read for a while to occupy her time on the flight and Izuku will read some comics about the adventures of the X-men during the flight. Inko peaks over to the side to see Izuku reading a comic book about the X-men and knows he will see the real deal when the time comes.
After a while of reading, the two fell asleep and decided to rest up so they would feel refreshed when they get to their new home. The next time they wake up is where they are arriving in New Orleans and they get ready to land in the airport.
They exit the plane with their carried bags and head to baggage claim where they get their suitcases. Inko texts Simon and tells him they are at the airport and he says I will be there shortly. Inko receives an email and says that their stuff will be at the house when they get there. Inko and Izuku head to the waiting area and wait for Simon to come get them.
Inko and Izuku wait ten minutes and they see a vehicle approach and they see a person get out and come into the airport. He stand about 6'5", has dark hair, and he may seem ordinary but he is not using his quirk right now. His quirk is called shapeshift, and that means he can shapeshift into a variety of different animals. He approaches them and him and Inko hug each other. Simon says "it has been a long time Inko and it is good to see you" to which Inko replies it is good to see you as well and says you look good as I saw you last." Simon squats down and says "you look just like your dad when he was your age" to which Izuku says hi and says you knew my dad." Simon says "yeah, we were best friends growing up and he was a great person. Simon helps them with their bags and they head to the car, and they head for their new home.
The drive from the airport to Inko and Izuku's new home takes about fifteen minutes and while on the way there, mother and son would look at the sights while on the way and they were both amazed with what they saw. Simon smiles at the sight of mother and son seeing what their new home will look like.
They arrive at their destination and just like with the sights they saw on the way to their new house, both mother and son looked at the house in awe thinking this will be awesome to have a new start. Inko collects the keys from the mailbox and uses them to get in the house so they can put their bags in their. Izuku goes to see his new room while Inko and Simon stand in the living room. The house came with the furniture included so that helps them get started in the home.
Inko is nervous about starting over but excited for the new opportunities that awaits her and Izuku here in New Orleans. Simon can sense her nervousness and tells her "it will take a while to adjust to a new environment but things will be fine." Inko says "thanks for the support Simon." They hear a truck outside and that must be the moving company with the rest of their stuff, and Inko says "Izuku the moving van is here with rest of our stuff, and he comes running into the living room.
They all head outside to mee the movers and Inko thanks them for their help to which they respond with it was our duty. Simon and Inko help the movers while Izuku sits outside on the grass to wait for them to be done. Izuku decides to take off his hoodie because it is warmer here than back in Japan but he does have a shirt on.
While Simon and Inko are helping the movers unloading the stuff into the new home and Izuku is sitting outside, we see a car pull into the driveway next door and three people step outside. The first person that stepped outside stood at the same height as simon and he has dark colored hair, brown eyes, and horns on his head. The next person that steps outside is a female standing at 5'8", blue eyes, blond colored hair, and has a horse's tail attached to her. The next person that steps out of the car is a girl that is the same age as Izuku, she has blond hair, blue eyes, and horns attached to her head. She looks over and sees Izuku sitting on the lawn and is entranced and at the same time, Izuku stares at the girl, and he too is entranced. They stare at each other for a few minutes before they look away. Her parents see the kid and since they do not recognize him, they figure he and his family must have just moved here, so they decide to go over and introduce themselves.
As they are walking over, Inko and Simon come outside to take a break and let the movers handle the rest. The family from next door comes over and introduce themselves to Inko, Simon, and Izuku. The man introduces himself as Daisuke Tsunotori, the woman introduces herself as Kimi Tsunotori, and the girl introduces herself as Pony Tsunotori. Inko introduces herself, Simon says I am a family friend and introduces himself, and then Izuku introduces himself.
Daisuke and Kimi asks where they came from and Inko says that she and her son Izuku have moved here from Japan to make a fresh start, and they welcome them to the states and New Orleans, Louisiana. Pony ask Izuku what his quirk is and he says it is called beast, and instead of being afraid, she is amazed by it, and says "that sounds like an awesome quirk." Izuku then asks her "you're not afraid of my quirk?" Pony then ask why "I would be afraid of your quirk" and then Izuku says "some kids back in Japan were afraid of my quirk and called it villainous." Pony then says "they are dumb to think that." Izuku ask her "what is your quirk" to which Pony responds with "it is called horn cannon" to which Izuku then says "that is an awesome quirk."
Kimi asks Inko what school are you going to put Izuku in and Inko says "I do not know yet because I need to continue checking." Kimi then says "you can look at the school we have Pony enrolled in, and she gives the school information to Inko.
Daisuke then says "when you two are done getting moved in and settled, why don't you two come over and we can have a welcome dinner for you two." Inko says "that is a wonderful idea and I think we will do just that."
The family of three leave Inko and Izuku to finish getting moved in and settled in their new home. Pony then asks Izuku "would you like to play with me tomorrow" to which Izuku says "yeah that would be a great idea."
The family of three then leave them to finish getting settled in and will check back with them tomorrow. Izuku is happy because he has a new friend and she was not afraid of his quirk, while Inko is looking forward to starting over in a new home.
That is where I will leave this story for now. I hope you enjoyed this chapter and like the quirk that I gave Izuku and the decision for Inko and Izuku to move to the states and start over.
The ship that I have planned for Inko will be that she will be paired with Simon and those two will reconnect and grow closer as the story progresses. The ship that I have planned for Izuku is Pony x Izuku if you were all wondering.
The next chapter will focus on Izuku hanging out with his new friend, seeing the sights of their new home, and getting ready for school.
