Mass Effect: Human Effect: Chapter Three: The Batarian Uprising
The Batarian Hermongny was an unstable powder keg just waiting to go off. Instead of waiting for the inevitable attack, human shadows began secretly backing rebel groups all throughout the Batarian Hermongny with high-grade Asari made element zero based military technology and human-made PMAC weapons disguised as a theoretical Quartian weapon that the Quarians were researching before the morning war.
Khar'shan: shadow team one: 3 weeks after the treaty of Rannoch
Operative Penumbra silently and invisibly headed towards the farthest along rebellion on Khar'shan silently dropping her tactical cloak at a guarded trapdoor in the alley way
Batarian Guard: who are you? You're not supposed to be here!
Operative Penumbra took out a piece of paper with the sigil, the symbol of an old Batarian abolitionist movement, and showed it to the guard
Batarian Guard: forgive me Asari, my mistake. I did not know you stole a tactical cloak, we can't have anybody in the hegemony know we're here so I approve of your caution. You can go in
Operative Penumbra quietly went into the main room, an underground sewer with escaped slaves planning a revolution, led by an ex-slave Asari Matriarch named Ter'sa
Ter'sa: welcome sister, I am Ter'sa. If you have found us it means you have escaped captivity to fight alongside us to free everyone from the Hegemony's tyranny
Operative Penumbra quietly took off her hood and dropped her holographic disguise
Penumbra: not quite, I am operative Penumbra, a shadow of the United Earth Government or U.E.G, a new race named humanity who wants to help overthrow the hegemony
Penumbra: as such to prove my intentions I have 100 human guns disguised as Quarrian guns that use human PMAC ammo
Penumbra then proceeded to take out a metal folding wormhole gate that unfolded into a five-meter high gate allowing a floating crate of 100 guns to come through
Ter'sa: what...what is that!?
Penumbra: that is a wormhole gate, it allows me to instantly move anything from my ship to me. It is an invention of my race humanity
Shar'Raas: that's incredible! Oh sorry, I didn't introduce myself. I'm Shar'Rass the chief engineer. And I musk ask if you have this why can't you just evacuate us with this?
Penumbra: because I am one of the many shadows, my race's STG equivalent, sent here or every other hegemony world to infiltrate and join a rebel cell to overthrow the entire system to create a better, more equal system. As such less life will be lost this way due to subterfuge. Also as I highly doubt you wish to go back to council space. Additionally, my race humanity has allied with the new Quarian federation and the Geth Collective to create the Coalition. We will also send in soldiers disguised as Asari like i was o help train you and fight with you in addition to many other resources.
Shar'raas: the...the Geth!?
Penumbra: the Geth defended themselves and now the Quarians are back on Rannoch and coexisting with the Geth in peace
Shar'raas: that's...that's possible?
Penumbra: indeed it is. As a matter of fact, I myself have a human-made AI with me
Penumbra turns her hand upwards to show a hologram of her symbiote AI Nyx
Nyx: greetings I am Nyx, Penumbra's symbiote Machina
Shar'raas: you're… you're... an AI?... and what is a symbiote?
Nyx: yes I am an AI. As for a symbiote, it is the classification of any AI living alongside a human
Shar'raas: So you're all symbiotes?
Nyx: no when I said live aside humans I meant it quite literally, we share a link between her brain and myself.
Shar'raas: you let AIs into your brains?!
Penumbra: indeed we do, over 95% of humans have a symbiote AI
Ter'sa: what's a PMAC?
Nyx: A PMAC is short for a plasma mass accelerator. It fires a metal ring wrapped in superheated plasma. These guns are disguised as Quarrian guns to avoid more suspicion as the Quarians experimented with such technology before the morning war. Or as you would know it, the Geth war
12 Months After The Treaty Of Rannoch
The Citadel, Council Chambers
Valren: I have called this meeting due to the ever-increasing unrest in the Batarian Hermongny, I believe they are in a state of civil war with an anti-slavery faction, despite their claims everything is fine.
Sparatus: how so? Not that I'm complaining. They've had it coming for a long time
Valren: our STG agents have found the Hegemony is mobilizing for full-scale war. In addition to the rising number of "isolated terrorist attacks" terrorists just who happen to have military-grade equipment that includes an old theoretical weapon of Quarian design that has been used in conjunction with Asari military-grade equipment
Sparatus: what kind of weapon?
Tevos: Asari military equipment?
Valren: the Quarians called it a plasma torus mass accelerator cannon, it fired a ring-shaped piece of metal that would carry plasma. At least that was the theory, it was dismissed as impossible by some scientists sometime after, clearly, they were mistaken.
Sparatus: how the hell did rebels of all people gain access to theoretical suit rat weapons from hundreds of years ago?! Also military-grade Asari equipment?!
Tevos just signed hearing that term yet again with Sparatus
Tevos: I'll look into it, perhaps some high ranking Matriarch is funding this rebellion
Valren: speaking of the Quarians we just found out new information about them. All pilgrimages have been recalled and about 75% of them have headed towards the Perseus Veil, likely to have one last suicidal charge towards Rannoch. As for the other 25% they disappeared after passing relay 469
Tevos: so a schism? Do you have any more information, Valren?
Valren: unfortunately no, the Quarians cybersecurity is far too advanced for us
Sparatus: you got beat by some suit rats? Pathetic!
Tevos: anyways have you captured any of this weaponry?
Valren: unfortunately no, all STG teams have been eliminated or had the weapons self-destruct. As for hacking their systems, they are yet again too strong
Sparatus: even more pathetic then!
Tevos: is it possible that the Quarians from the 25% schism are supplying these plasma weapons?
Valren: doubtful, they don't have the proper facilities for such testing of weapons involving plasma. I'd say it's more likely some terminus researcher in debt to this mysterious Asari Matriarch finished the design and is supplying them. Possibly some kind of blackmail?
Tevos: then we should discreetly send a Spectre into the Terminus with some STG to find their supplier while I look for the Matriarch
Valren: excellent idea, I'll get right on it
Tevos: anything new with the Humans?
Valren: nothing, besides a few visiting here and there they are very isolationist. When we are involved at least, they seem to be exploring through the galaxy using their alternative FTL.
Tevos: also their diplomatic part will be here in two days
Sparatus: so our highly advanced and powerful neighbor just wants to be left alone? Well, I can live with that considering their power massive but I still want to get ahold of their weapons and technology
Valren: don't we all, unfortunately, their AIs have thwarted our attempts at hacking them at every turn, and our specters have been caught and returned to us
Tevos: is synthetic insights being of any help?
Valren: unfortunately not
Tevos: Ughhh!
Sparatus: my feelings exactly
Valren: on the upside, it seems the rebels are winning and the new government will likely track down the slavers as well as acting as a buffer zone against the Terminus systems
Tevos: I guess that's good news
Terminus Clean Up Fleet 003: Omega
While the Batarian Hermongny was being handed with secrecy, the Terminus was simple pirate killing fleets. Now it was the beginning of the invasion, starting at the core, Omega
The UEG Normandy Dreadnought
Commander Shepard: well alright let us begin, fire the particle lances at these ships and launch the Portal pods at Omega itself
The Phase Portal Pods were a new invention based on the phrasing done by a mass relay or a biotic charge to move a projectile such as a missile using quantum tunneling to allow an object to phase through solid objects
Joker: alright captain firing the teleporter pods and death rays
A holographic image pops up
Edi: Joker, it is not teleportation or death rays they are--
Joker: yeah yeah I know Edi! Sometimes I really don't know why I put up with you as my symbiote!
Edi: because other people find me funny, especially when I'm tormenting you with bad puns and jokes
Joker: oh common! being funny is my thing!
As they continued to bicker the Normandy fired its particle lances sliced through numerous ships or disabling eezo cores until nothing was left but omega itself
Afterlife
Aria: what in the goddess's name is happening?! She yelled as Omega shook
Batarian: I don't know miss, but our ships are being disabled with a weapon unlike I've ever seen before out of nowhere! Scanners are showing nothing!
Just then a phase portal materialized in afterlife, its pod unfolding to reveal a large wormhole gate the then had two dropships, hundreds of drones emerge from it
Aria: who the hell are these people?!
Batarian: I don't know ah--!!
He was cut off as a blue particle rifle's beam incinerated him
The rifle's owner, Lieutenant Alenko then stepped out of the dropship
Lieutenant Alenko: hello Aria, once I beat you I can say I fucked with Aria and lived
Aria: "You'll never get the chance, human!" She said powering up her biotics covering her in a fiery blue aura as Alenko did the same with his Kinetics and gained an aura of shimmering reality akin to a mirage
"Take this!" Aria said sending multiple warps and throws at him that with superhuman speed Lieutenant Alenko sidestepped them all before launching multiple kinetic spears of shimmering spacetime straight at her chest, many were blocked by her biotics and exploded on the surface but two got through and killed while tearing her body apart
Lieutenant Alenko: alright everybody, we've captured afterlife, let us go help the poor citizens of this place
Meanwhile STG Headquarters
STG Agent: my Delathrass I have news to report
Delathrass: what is it, agent?
STG Agent: the Humans just launched a successful assault on Omega and as we speak are "cleaning up" the Terminus systems as some of our bugged afterlife systems have picked up
Delathrass: did you say successful? This is a big development that could be used to our advantage, to finally be free of the terminus systems! What kinds of weapons did the humans use?
STG Agent: they seem to favor some type of beam-based weaponry and also they had some kind of human biotic defeat Aria in biotic combat, sending the footage now
As the Delathrass watched the footage she became quite intrigued
Delathrass: that reaction time and speed don't seem natural, cybernetic and genetic augmentation?
STG Agent: most likely
The Delathrass rewound and then paused the video as a kinetic spear was formed
Delathrass: that technique, I have never seen such a biotic technique before
STG Agent: it appears to be some kind of javelin made up of unstable gravitic energy. All known bipedal races besides the Asari used such weapons as primitives. It appears the humans were no exception to this and appropriating the concept with their biotics makes some amount of sense
Delathrass: hmm, we should try and recreate this ourselves, get one of our top biotics in here
Minutes later
Lynos: I am her my Delathrass, Lynos, lead of the Salarian biotics corp
Delathrass: excellent, I have witnessed a new human biotic technique that I want you to try and replicate
The biotic battle once more plays Lynos watches it intensely
The Delathrass leaves Lynos to work before coming back 12 hours later
Delathrass: any luck?
Lynos: I believe I have recreated the technique
Using his biotics he creates a similar spear in his hand and launches it at a target which explodes into shrapnel
Delathrass: excellent, this human biotic javelin technique will serve us well. Now however I must speak to the council
The Delathrass walked up to a console and contacted Councilor Valren
Valren: yes Delathrass?
Delathrass: I have some interesting news regarding the Humans
Valren: yes? he asks clearly interested
Delathrass: they're battling their way through the terminus systems, quite well I might add. They also killed Aria with a new biotic technique we have recreated for ourselves
Valren: they're doing what?
Delathrass: you heard me
Valren: hmm they might be claiming more territory by using their technological and military advantages to take it from the criminals of the terminus as nobody will really miss them or want the space
Delathrass: I suspect that as well
Valren: we will speak to them about it when they visit the Citadel in the near future
Delathrass: the new biotic technique is quite destructive I might add, we call it the biotic javelin. I'm unsure what the humans call it but it is essentially an exploding javelin
Valren: thank you Delathrass, I'm sure the STG will benefit greatly from such a biotic technique. Valren out.
The Council Chambers 32 hours later
Sparatus: So the humans are cleaning out the Terminus? Took someone long enough. How many times have I suggested doing something similar?
Valren: six hundred and nine, I'm more concerned however about the human's ability to seeming teleport, their beam weapons, and their stealth technology
Sparatus: I admit the footage from the battle of omega has shown us just how far behind we are. I suggest we ease restrictions on non-nuclear weaponry research and try to create some new technologies especially unconventional ones
Valren: agreed
Tevos: I disagree but I am outvoted
Tevos: next we have the biotic javelin as the Salarians have named the human biotic technique. I must admit is quite destructive
Valren: quite destructive? It's essentially a better version of a warp!
Tevos: hmph
Valren: and that was only one biotic technique, imagine what else they have created
Sparatus: the technique is already becoming quite popular in the Blackwatch
Valren: as in our biotics divisions
Tevos: I…. Yes, some… some... commandos have picked up the technique…
Valren: on a side note, it appears they have taken a large interest in both mass relays and the biotic charge technique based on their extranet history
Sparatus: but why the latter? Given their relay alternatives I understand the first but why the biotic charge technique?
Tevos just stayed silent
Valren: there have been many theories in both Salarian and Asari circles that speculate that a mass relay uses a simal technique to work

The dark, angular, blocky ship flew up to the mass relay which flung them lightyears away to a new system
They go around scanning each planet before they come to the closest planet in the star's orbit, a garden world
Hal: Captain, sensors are detecting an extensive underground complex hidden deep in below the closest planet.
Captain Allen: Is this a first contact situation?
Hal: besides the simple indigenous wildlife and not taking the bunker into account? Unknown, sensors cannot penetrate the bunker. It does, however, shows it is drawing geothermal energy from the planet's mantle
