A/N: So I seem to be on a roll. Thanks for the nice words on the last chapter Here's some Burgess angst for this next chapter.

Kim shifted in Adam's arms and a sudden wave of nausea hit her. She pushed herself roughly from Adam's arms and ran towards the bathroom, cursing under her breath.

"No, no no no no no. Not this, anything but this." She fell to her knees and emptied her stomach. Not much came up but it was a bitch all the same. "Fuck my life."

"You okay Kim?" He rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

"No I'm not okay." She growled standing up and washing her mouth at the sink. This is not how this is supposed to go." She pushed past him and went towards the kitchen. She needed a caffeine fix and hopefully that would settle her stomach.

"Are you sure it's a good idea?" He only got a death stare in return and he raised his hands in surrender. "Don't listen to me, what do I know?" He watched as Kim started preparing a cup for both of them and he came behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind. "Are you ready for Platt today?"

"She is probably going to annoy me all day."

"And she'll take great pleasure in it." He assured her with a chuckle.

"I know." She sighed in exasperation. "How am I going to get through this pregnancy?" He had moved his hands to her shoulders and started rubbing them gently.

"Like the badass that you are darling." He kissed her temple. "Let me prepare something for you to eat before we go yeah?"

"If it stays down." She grumbled as she poured them a cup of coffee.

"I'll make something light." Adam kept an eye on Kim as he made them some breakfast burritos to go, putting mushrooms and her favourite sauce in it. He knew Platt would thoroughly enjoy making Kim do all kinds of boring things, but Adam preferred having her bored than in any kind of danger.

They drove into the district as soon as Adam was done getting them some food ready for the day, preparing snacks for Kim too. He could see that she was nervous sitting in the passenger seat, but he knew that nothing he could tell her would easy any of it, especially knowing Platt. He slipped his hand in hers and he grabbed her bag with his and they made it to the top of the front steps. Kim applied a very subtle pressure on Adam's hand, but he gave hers a gentle squeeze and she looked at him in just in time for him to wink and smile at her.

"Oh God, Adam, help me." Kim could already see the smirk on Platt's face as they walked up the stairs.

"You'll be fine Kim." He chuckled.

"No, I'm not. Come on Adam, you need to talk to Voight." She hissed.

"Burgess, about damn time you showed your pregnant ass in here."

"Sarge." She answered in a clipped tone with a tight smile on her lips.

"You're late, get your ass back here so we can get started."

"Yes Sarge." Adam stifled a laugh and both women gave him a glare that he knew all to, well so he kissed Kim on the cheek.

"Have a nice day darling." He whispered quickly and headed upstairs.

"Alright, let's get this show started." Platt called, pointing to where Kim could put her bag. "We're going to have a busy day; I hope you're ready."

"Looking forward to it." She tried to use her most excited voice, this was going to be a disaster.

Adam went up the stairs still laughing. When he made it up, everyone was there and looking at him.

"What's got you all happy this morning?" Kevin asked as Adam put his coat against his chair.

"Kim's first day and Platt is in rare form."

"Damn, she'll drive Burgess insane."

"I hope you're ready to have her unload on you later." Jay chuckled.

"You can bet on it; I give it an hour." Adam looked at his phone.

"Alright everyone, I need you guys to be serious, we caught a case." He sent Kim a quick text and gave Voight his full attention. It wasn't long before they were sent out in the city, going down the stairs from the bullpen and having eyes on Kim. Adam gave her an apologetic smile before heading out with Kevin.

"Come on Sarge, I've already been here before, I'm good to go." Kim lamented.

"Stop being such a hormonal bitch Burgess. There's more that happens here than you think."

"What was wrong with the job I did here the last time?" She countered the desk Sargent.

"Nothing but I gave you the easy job the last time. Now you have so much more to do, I'm giving you the whole thing. It a long and tiresome process for Kim as Platt gives her information on top of information, filling her head with so much stuff. She eyes the team coming down the stairs and exchanges a look with Adam and he mouths an, I'm sorry, to her.

"Make us proud Burgess." Kevin bellows over his shoulder, Jay emitting a loud chuckle as the three went out the door chasing a lead.

"Attention here Burgess, stop daydreaming about the bad guys." Platt is clearly enjoying torturing her about it.

The boys returned hours later to find Kim absent from the front desk and Adam made a stop in front of her as the boys went up to give Voight what they had found.

"Hey Sarge, where's Kim?"

"She's alive if that's what you're wondering." She barely looked up from what she was doing to answer him.

"That doesn't really answer my question." He cocked her head to the side and was rewarded with a death stare from Trudy, now facing him squarely.

"Burgess has a tiny bladder and is at the bathroom every other second. She's alive, and I keep her fed so go on up there and go catch the bad guys, officer.

"Yes ma'am." She was live right now and anything he would say now would only piss the woman off, so he did what was best for his life and returned to the bullpen.

Kim returned to the front desk, taking a long swig out of her water bottle and taking a deep breath.

"Took you long enough."

"Not my fault its sitting on my bladder."

"Well, if you didn't chug all that water you wouldn't have to go pee every five seconds." She growled. "Come on, let's get back to work." Kim took a deep breath, knowing there weren't too many hours left for her with the dragon lady. She didn't know how much more she could actually take. When Platt let her off the hook around dinner time, the bullpen was empty so she left Adam a note and headed home, knowing Kevin would give him a ride back home.

It was quiet, too quiet when she got home and she opened the fridge, trying to see if there was something to eat. She eyed the bottles of beer that were sitting in the boor and moaned, knowing she couldn't have any, but desperately needing one. She re-heated some leftover pizza from the night before and walked around, grabbing her clothes and heading to bathroom to fill a tub of hot water. Her head was pulsing dangerously from all the information Platt had pushed into her head and she was sure that it was about to burst any second. She lowered herself in the bubbles after she was done with her food and closed her eyes, leaning against a towel.

Adam smiled when he saw the note when they returned from catching their guy and he couldn't wait to go back home and spend some quiet time with Kim. Kevin dropped him like he knew he would, and Adam walked into a quiet house. He could see the light coming from the bathroom upstairs, so he followed it and found Kim soaking in the bathtub, a slim net of hot water coming from the tap.

"How was your day?" His voice was low and calm, not wanting to startle her.

"From hell." She turned her head and looked at him. "She kept hounding me, telling me all of these things that I'm supposed to remember and kept complaining about my water intake and bathroom breaks." She huffed.

"You were doing that on purpose weren't you?" He chuckled.

"Yeah." She sighed. "It was the only way I could get away from her and take a break. I miss upstairs." She moaned.

"I know you do darlin' but who knows, Voight might need you up there on the next case."

"From your lips to God's ears"

"Ready to wind down with me?"

"I'll meet you downstairs in a minute." He leaned down and kissed her, pushing a strand of hair away from her beautiful face.

"I'll be waiting." He left her soak a few more minutes before Kim got out of the tub, the bubbles almost gone. She slipped into yoga pants and one of Adam's flannel and joined him on the couch. She settled herself at the other end of the couch, placing her feet in his lap. He instinctively started rubbing them while they watched tv in silence. He knew she needed to empty her head from her long day with Trudy.

"Any idea of what we'll have?" Her hand was running against her still flat belly.

"I don't know, I still haven't wrapped my head around all of it." She said honestly. The symptoms were real and the situation at the 21st made it real but there was a baby growing inside of her, part Adam and part her and it threw her off her axis with joy. "I wake up and wonder if it's a dream until I empty my stomach and remember that it's real. We're having a baby and it's amazing, so I don't care what we're having."

"So, you wouldn't mind having another one of me to deal with?" He chuckled, turning the tv off.

"I'd take another you in a heartbeat, keeps me on my toes." She laughed. "But would you be able to survive a daughter? The sassiness, the attitude, the boys." She raised her eyebrows playfully.

"Oh god, the boys. I'd be more scared for their safety and my badge than the sassiness and attitude."

"As long as it's healthy, I take one or the other." She laughed. They enjoyed being together, away from the chaos some more before they went to bed, Kim tucked into Adam's side.

Kim was the first up, morning sickness at bay for the time being so she made breakfast for Adam and herself before he found her in the kitchen. He was showered and dressed, and they enjoyed breakfast together before she showered and changed, the two heading into the district. They had time before Kim had to report to the front desk, so she accompanied Adam to Intelligence and found Voight in his office, like every morning.

"Morning boss." Adam called out as he put his coat on his chair, Kim doing the same.

"You two are here early." He came out of his office with a smile. "How was your first day with Trudy?"

"It was hell Sarge." Kim complained but Voight laughed.

"It's only temporary Burgess."

"Not temporary enough." She scoffed. "That woman will be the death of my sanity, I swear. I'll do anything you want Sarge, I'll ride the desk here, stay out of the field, anything is better than being tortured down there."

"I'll see what I can do for you." He smiled at her as the rest of the team trickled in, everyone happy to see her.

"Try not to go nuts down there." Adam kissed her before she had to go down, the team catching a case.

"Can't make any promises." She called over her shoulder. She started another day of intense training, hoping to God Voight could get something sorted out for her before she really did lose all traces of sanity.
