Franz: "Seems this Castle... Lab... Was part of an experiment, yes?"

Gwen: "As chief biological scientist of our crew... Yes, I would concur with you!"

Tomas: "But what was the experiment all about?"

Viktoria: "Was it a genetic type of experiment... Have we seen the results?"

The look on Gwen's face said it best. She nodded... then answered them:

"Do you recall the GMO 'experiments' - on plants, back on Earth, over 100 years ago?"

Franz: "Why, yes... The results were promising at first... But later on..."

Gwen: "Correct... And I'd say the 'Experiment' here is light years beyond that. Indeed!"

The crew of Beagle-2 soon noticed the many unusual animals. Some birds and other creatures.

Solstice-3 was home to such a variety of plant and animal life, that it must be by some 'design'.

But whose... That was the bigger question. And there was an even larger surprise... Soon.

Three days later, after Gwen and Tomas had run some tests... of local flora and fauna samples.

And then some tests of the water from the lake, and of the air all around the planet itself.

"Crew mates... It seems that the test was at the microbe level. What was released. It is in the air.

And I'm afraid that, like the biological warfare experiments of decades past on Earth, that we are infected!"

This sad news was delivered by Gwen, with a very heavy heart... and a solemn and downcast gaze.

Franz: "What can we expect, Gwen... How will we be affected by the microbes? Should we wear air-masks?"

Gwen: "I'm afraid it is too late for that... The wearing of breathing equipment. I'm not sure what will happen."

Later on, while conducting further research, with the computers on the Beagle-2, Gwen had

recalled a quote by a lovely black American poetess, that had passed on over a century ago:

"I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people"

- Maya Angelou
