Living In Tree Hill Part 2:

Aunt Karen's House:

Morning came without any more nightmares. Around ten am the rest of the house was up and moving around. So used to getting up at 6am every morning, including the weekends, Nadia had been up and moving around her room before anyone else. She knew how to be quiet when she needed to be and now was one of those times. She had gotten onto her laptop and checked both of her emails and was on Facebook when Lucas and Brooke poked there heads into her room to see if she was still sleeping. They smiled when she looked over away from her computer and straight at them.

"When did you get up Nadia?" Brooke asked.

"I'm accustomed to getting up at 6am so I've been up since a little after 6. Why, when did you guys get up?"

"Only about thirty minutes ago. You weren't making any noise in here so we thought you were still sleeping. What are you doing?"

"Well now that Coolden is bringing my animals and friends up, I thought I would talk to them while they were headed up here. Apparently some of them are driving and because most of our cars have the capability of going online and to Facebook to verbally update our accounts, we can chat that way too. We all got discounts when we went to the same place to get the upgrade."

"Sounds fun. Mom has breakfast going if you want to come in. You can tell her about the $45,000 you have from the benefit if you want, that way we can open multiple saving accounts for you and you can dole out the money from that account."

"I thought we had agreed on my buying Keith's Garage and just hiring people we trust to work on the cars?"

"Yes, but it would probably be best if the money came from a bank instead of just being in cash."

"Okay, but it wouldn't have been cash anyways. When I pulled my money out of the bank in LV, I put it all into one giant Cashier's Check so that nobody would think that all the money wasn't mine. Kept it in my purse the whole time and when I got here, I put it in a safe place."

"That's good to know. Come on missy, time to go eat some delicious food. I think Karen is using some leftover ingredients to make breakfast so we should be having quiet a meal."

"Hope she knows how to use some of those ingredients. Some of them can be a bit tricky to deal with."

"Yes, Cookie Girl, we'll let her know."

"Cookie Girl?"

"I hope you like your nickname. It was better than Cooker Girl and I like the sound of it."

"What do we like the sound of?" the others asked as we walked into the kitchen. They were all spread out around the kitchen helping in some way with the breakfast.

"My new nickname is Cookie Girl. Anyone like?"

"Let me guess, Brooke gave you the nickname."

"Yes I did Peyton, why would it matter?"

"It wouldn't I was just saying. And we do like the nickname for you. Let me guess, its short for Cooker Girl?"

"Yes, apparently."

"Good to know. Now, Luke, Brooke get to helping with the meal. And Nadia, sit down on that chair and watch us make the food. You made the meal yesterday so we will make it today. And you're still recuperating from the hospital so you won't be doing anything strenuous for a while."

"Yes Aunt Karen."

I sat in the chair and watched as Aunt Karen and the others whirled around the kitchen making the breakfast. My mind drifted to how my friends were getting here. I would remind myself that I needed to get one big kennel for the dogs before they got here. Accustomed to having them run about while at Coolden's she knew that they wouldn't be allowed to do that here. Today was a day of opening a new bank account and going shopping. I knew that whatever transpired over the next few months, they probably wouldn't be as hard as when I was trying to wake up in the hospital. I noticed that they all were watching me every now and then and didn't seem to mind. I knew that they were going to be as overprotected of me as they could and as much as I didn't like it, it was the only way to keep me safe.

When the plates started to appear on the table with delicious smelling food, I wanted to get up and help but knew that I would probably be pushed back into the chair that I was sitting in. I was wearing long yoga pants as they were the most comfortable sweats I had ever bought and I had like twenty airs, all different colors and everything. My friends and I had bought them at a sporting goods store back when it actually mattered what we wore in gym class. It was amazing that I was able to keep so much hidden from my mother and even though I knew that there was no way she would ever know that I was here, there was still the slight possibility that she could just as well find out if she ever wanted to.

Before any food was touched or eaten, I got up and went to my room. I had filled a prescription for pain killers when I was still in LV but the one pain killer I always had on me was Ibuprofen because it always seemed to help the most, especially when it came round time for my monthly to start. That and dark chocolate. I came back out and put the two bottles of medicine on the table in front of my plate and sat back down. Nobody paid that much attention. One was Ibuprofen, one was antibiotics. She hadn't filled her Vicodin prescription because it always made her feel sick and she'd been hospitalized the last time she used it. Turned out she was allergic to Vicodin.

"So, Nadia, we'll get ready to go out today and stop by the bank before the girls take you shopping. Was there anything else we needed to do at the bank besides set up an account for you?" Karen asked. Obviously someone had told her about the benefit money.

"We need to set up an extra savings account so that I can put the $45,000 from a benefit we held for the Tree Hill High. We were going to send it as an anonymous donation but then everything with me happened and I was given the job of delivering it. We thought we would give it to the Mayor but now I'm told that he really isn't someone that can be trusted."

"Well your right about not trusting the Mayor. Dan may be the Mayor of Tree Hill, but not a lot of people trust him when it comes to money. He makes his money by cheating a lot of people out of a lot of what doesn't belong to him but them. It's better to put the money in an account where you can dole it out for anyone that needs it. And the fact that the money was for the students of Tree Hill High, and then I guess you can figure out what to do with it down the road a little."

"Sounds like a plan to me. Breakfast looks good Aunt Karen."

"We found one of your recipes last night and printed it out at the Café. Hope you don't mind."

"Not at all. You can use all the recipes you want at the café. I can print them out for you if you want, but first I think we should just try them at home before taking them to the Café. And I know that what conspired yesterday after I just got here was a one-time thing. It won't happen again I promise, well sort of."

"Just as long as you don't overdo yourself you should be fine. I got a phone call from Coolden this morning and he said that they should be here by Wednesday if that's alright with you. I'm sure we can find an animal in the pet store for the time being."

"Thanks, I was talking with my friends on Facebook when I got up this morning, so I'm going to know what state they are in and where they are at all times. This ought to be fun. Most of them have never been out of Nevada before so this will be a trip they are going to want to remember which means a lot of pictures. Speaking of which, I have a bunch of pictures from my trip here on my camera that I need to print out."

"Talkative are we?" Mouth asked.

"My friends are on their way up. I haven't seen them since before I was shot. They weren't allowed to see me just in case my mother decided to go after one of them. But Coolden was there whenever he didn't have to be at the club so I guess it was cool."

"I see. Well eat up and then we'll get ready to head out this morning. Luke, what are you and the guys going to do while the girls are at the mall?"

"Probably go to River Court. We promised Whitey that we would practice this weekend, despite having Nadia here. Sorry, but we do need the practice."

"It's okay, I'm going to love shopping anyways, always have and always will."

Breakfast was eaten over the course of the conversation so by the time everyone was done eating; the food was gone, well almost gone, as well. Everyone got up and put their dishes in the dishwasher and then headed to get dressed. The girls got dressed in Nadia's room while the guys got dressed in Lucas's room.
