He was alive. Alive.
After all this time had she really been living a lie? Such a horrible lie?
It appeared so.
What the actual hell was going on?
Unless someone was just trying to fuck with her - bad, bad idea.
If someone was trying to screw with her with this, it was not going to end well, wouldn't be pretty, she would make sure of it.
One thing was for certain - the only thing that was certain - was that if this was true and he really was alive, and had been all these years, this changed everything.
Back in Kentucky now, Agents Whiskey and Galahad - now Galahad Jr. with Harry back in the scene, thank goodness - had to wait and see whether or not their method of tracking Clara proved useful. So now, they waited.
"Here we are," said Jack, turning his truck onto another dirt road that led up to a lone house. "Ain't she a beauty?"
"This is your safe house?" asked Eggsy.
"It sure is, Kid. What, you don't have these in good old Kingsman?"
"No, we do. You're sure it's safe here?"
"Yeah, it's a safe house, isn't it." Jack chuckled. "Sorry, can't help myself sometimes."
"Sometimes?"
Jack chuckled again. "Don't worry, Kid, we can lay low here. It's better than staying at the headquarters building. This house has been in my family for generations." Upon reaching the front door, Jack frowned. "Door's been opened - we're not alone."
"Anybody else have keys?"
"They're not supposed to. Which probably means they don't have keys - this is a classic case of breaking and entering. Get out your weapon kid, just in case." He withdrew his own gun, Eggsy following suit.
"I thought this was supposed to be a safe house," Eggsy mumbled, following close behind Jack as he surveyed the seemingly empty and undisturbed house.
Now with weapons in hand, they crept through the dark house, on alert.
"Nothing appears to be damaged," Jack noted. In fact, the only thing that seemed off was that the TV was on, droning on in the background.
"They said you were dead."
Jack whirled around at the sudden voice, then stopped, completely frozen, and stared at the figure stepping out of the shadows.
A woman with long dark hair emerged, her own gun falling to rest at her side as she eyed them. She appeared to be in tears.
"So this is the ranch house? Our future family home. This is where our kids would grow up, where we were going to grow old together?"
Eggsy's head whipped back and forth between them, trying to figure out the story here.
Jack still said nothing, just stood rooted to his spot, still frozen, his jaw dropped and appearing on the verge of tears now himself as well. "Lower your gun, kid."
"B-but-"
"Do it." His words were sharp.
Eggsy complied, but still held his weapon ready to make a move if need be.
"They said you were dead. They said you were dead, and I believed them," the woman continued. "Unless... I hate to do this, but I have to be sure-" She took another step forward, focused completely on Jack. However, Eggsy got the feeling that if he were to pull any kind of stunt, she would be waiting and prepared to act accordingly. So he just stood there, observing.
"Where were you born?" she asked.
"Here in Kentucky," Jack answered.
"How and where did we meet?" With each question asked, she took another step forward towards them, towards him, fingers resting above her weapon just in case. Always just in case. Always ready, just in case. Because you never knew, never knew what would happen, what was going to happen.
Like now. She still wasn't sure if this was really happening. But she persisted onwards, not wanting to lose a minute, not a single second if it was indeed real.
"At Central High School. You were the new kid, a couple of grades below me, transferring from Australia."
She nodded, her heart beating faster and faster with every word he spoke, with each answer he provided. "And how did I tell you I was pregnant?"
"By telling me that you were pregnant."
"Seriously?" cried Eggsy.
But they weren't paying him any attention - all their attention was focused on each other, one another. One another and nothing else.
She stood directly before him now and reached out with a shaking hand to touch his cheek. It was warm, warm flesh and a little rough and tickled where her fingers brushed his moustache. "There's a million other questions I could ask but it's you, isn't it? It's you?"
"Yes, yes it is. Is it really you?"
"Yes." She reached out and cupped his face in both hands. "It's you, it's really you."
"Jules?"
"Jack. Jack."
"Jules..."
"You're here."
"We're here."
The next thing both knew they were embracing, each one crushing the other to them, never wanting to let go.
"H-How is this happening?"
"I don't know, but I don't care!" Jack pulled away, keeping them close while cupping her face in his hands. "Oh, baby-"
"You're with Statesman?"
"You're with Kingsman?"
"Technically yes. I'm with Queensfolk."
"Beg pardon?" piped-up Eggsy.
"Queensfolk, We're the ones digging your sorry asses out of the dirt, Gary' Eggsy' Unwin, Agent Galahad."
"Galahad Jr. now, actually." He blinked back at them from behind the lenses of his special fancy Kingsman glasses. "I'm sorry who are you?"
"I'm Juliet Daniels. Agent Valkyrie."
"My wife," spoke-up Jack.
"Uh, I don't mean to be rude, Bruv, but didn't you say your wife was dead?"
"I thought she was."
"What the hell's going on?"
"That's what I'd like to know."
"Me too," she agreed.
"Wait - our son? Our little boy..." Jack touched her stomach, which had been a lot rounder the last time he had seen her.
"He's good, ten years old now. The birth was a bit complicated after the incident, but he's fine, healthy and happy."
"He's alive?"
"Yes."
"Oh, thank God," he breathed. "And you're alive."
"Yes. I named him Jack, seemed appropriate. Jack Daniel's Jr."
"Oh, Jules-" He pulled her close again, crushing her to him in a tearful hug.
They were broken out of their tender moment by a sudden change on the TV screen, a jaunty tune beginning to play while a red-haired woman with glasses appeared.
"Mr. President, hi, my name is Poppy Adams..."
It feels like a big reveal for so early in the story, but that's how it fits with the movie and how I've written the character! More reveals to come later though!
So I guess she's not totally an OC, more my version of the character, however we saw very little and knew very little about her character in the movie, so I think she's leaning more towards an OC here.
Hope you liked the twist! Thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed! :)
