A/N: hey here's chapter 3. It's sad so that's your only warning.

Hiding wasn't something new for Lily and me. We had been doing it for years and we had gotten good at it. So good in fact that Steve was downright impressed with us. We managed to find a safe place in Connecticut that still allowed Steve and Sam to keep their eyes on what was going on with the remaining avengers. Within a week of getting safe Steve was immediately on us, asking us what was going on, who we were, and why we didn't ever say anything. Answering him became harder than we expected it to be.

"What do you mean you don't know?" Steve said as he threw his hands up.

Lily, beyond frustrated with him at this point screamed in his face, "WE DONT FUCKING KNOW STEVEN! You don't think that frustrates us? All we have is a damn piece of paper for each of us saying we were give to the damn orphanage by a fucking government operative. I don't even know if Lilja Jensen is my real name! I don't know who my parents were or are, I don't know where I came from or what I'm supposed to do. I don't know anything Steven and I've been trying to find out for years! I've gone around this whole fucking country trying to figure it out and I've been met with nothing but dead ends and frustration. The only person that has EVER been there for me is Cora and I don't even know if Cora Bernard is her real name either. All I know for sure is that it has always been us and I have never had anyone else in my life. No one." She collapsed as the fight died out in her, tears streaming down her face as Steve watched her.

"Don't you see Steve," He turned to me, "We don't want to trick or hurt you. We can't tell you what we don't know. In all of the time we have been looking we have only found one clue, the only lead we ever had was Shield. But by the time we had that, they were gone."

He looked at me then down at Lily, "Shield?" He asked and she nodded.

"I've been trying to figure out what that means," Lily said as she looked up at him, "We've studied every bit of information we have on Shield but have never been able to find out more than a few things here or there."

He stood up and walked across the room, his mind running as fast as his legs moved.

Finally, he stopped and looked at us. "Wanda."

Lily and I looked at each other then back at Steve. "Wanda?"

"She was experimented on by hydra, it's how she got her powers. It's how her brother got his too. Maybe there's more to this. If your names are your names maybe we can trace it."

Lily stood up and walked towards him. "No." She whispered and he stared at her.

"No? Just like that. I might have the answers and you say no?"

"Not if it means putting you at risk. I won't do it. I'm sorry Steve I appreciate you wanting to help but not if it means you're at risk of leaving me."

He stared at her before smiling. "I won't honey. I promise. But once this whole thing is over I'm going to help you."

"Okay, that I can accept." They kept staring at each other and I just absolutely couldn't help myself.

"Y'all gonna kiss now or something?"

Lily turned and glared at me before I ran out of the room laughing my ass off. I was happy as hell for my friend. It was about damn time.

Steve convinced me to lay low for six months before finally agreeing to take me across the world to the little-known kingdom of Wakanda. We were greeted by T'Challa and Shuri who informed us that Bucky was still frozen for now. I asked for a timetable for his recovery, but they couldn't give me an exact idea of it. I understood but it still sucked that I couldn't be with him. They led me down a long hall to a fancy lab that Shuri called her sanctuary. They showed me a tube and I laid eyes on him for the first time in almost 3 years. He looked like he was sleeping, and that was fine as long as he was okay. I put my hand against the glass and whispered how much I loved him. I told him I would be waiting for him and that I couldn't wait to see his smile again. Afterward, I cried in Steve's arms the entire way back home. He told me stories of their childhood and promised that he would do everything he could to get Bucky back to me. I laughed at him.

"It's weird. I only knew him for a few months, but he changed me so much in that short time. I feel like I got robbed of so much."

Steve nodded, "I didn't realize I loved Lily until I kissed Sharon."

I looked at him and turned my head to the side. "Seriously?"

"I know I know. It's dumb now that I think about it. I mean the signs were always there. I walked her home every chance I had. I couldn't wait to be with her. Of course, I loved her. I was just being a fool."

"If it helps so was she."

He smiled. "It wasn't until I saw her standing there, unresponsive and so lost, that I knew I couldn't be without her ever again. I don't know how she did it, but she managed to worm her way in without really even trying."

"Steve," He looked at me and I smiled, "I'm so glad she has you. Really."

He smiled and laughed. "I thought you hated me."

"Oh, I did."

"Bucky said you complained about me constantly."

"Well yeah! Seriously dude no one is that perfect?" I looked at him and he laughed at me.

"No, I guess not."

We threw ourselves into helping Steve, Sam, Wanda, and Vision as much as we could. Steve was constantly following the chatter that was coming out of the avengers compound, waiting for any kind of information that would get him back in the world's good graces. He was even looking for something to destroy the accords, which had proceeded without him. Natasha even turned tail and decided to help them out as much as she could, but there wasn't much she could do, especially when she went back home for a few months. I distracted myself as much as I could, but also managed to keep constant contact with Shuri. She had finally gotten the situation with Bucky fixed, though she claimed it was beyond easy. Once he was out however she told me to hold off on trying to contact him. She wanted to see if she could help him find some sort of balance before letting bits of his life back in. I was impatient but I understood what she was saying. So I waited. But while I waited I watched my best friend change before my very eyes. Once they accepted how much they truly cared for one another Lily and Steve seemed to become stronger. He helped her with her anger and pains while she took care of his worry and fears about everything going on. I knew that this was her future and I was glad she had found it. Even if it was with Captain America of all people. It was on one of these days that I got one of my regular phone calls from Shuri or at least I thought it was her.

"Hey, Shuri how are you?"

I expected her normal greeting but instead, I only got silence. "Hello?" Asked again, concern started to grow.

Then I heard it, the soft breath of someone trying to fight back some sort of emotion, and finally, "Cora."

My heart sped up and my eyes became wet with tears. "Bucky? Is that you?"

"Oh Cora, it's so good to hear your voice."

I started sobbing, holding the phone to my ear, "I miss you so much."

"You have no idea, doll. Just no idea."

"Are you okay? I mean you're okay but are you okay?" I asked and he laughed.

"I'm getting better. I just found out that you've been asking to speak with me, but someone didn't think it was a good idea." I laughed as I heard Shuri yell at him in the background.

"Don't be mad at her. She had a point."

"No she didn't," he said, his tone very serious, "I needed you. I need you." He whispered.

"This is crazy. How did this happen?" I asked and he laughed.

"You know it doesn't take very long to develop feelings for someone."

"But we only had a couple of months."

He was silent for a few minutes then he whispered to me, "It only took a week Cora."

After that, we talked almost daily, so much so that Shuri upgraded him to video calls after a while and finally said it would be okay if I came out to visit. So I planned a time when Steve was taking Lily with him to check on Vision and Wanda. We dropped them off outside of Edinburgh before heading off to Wakanda. The minute the ship touched down I was trying to get off. Sam laughed his ass off as I fought with the seat belts, trying to free myself.

"You're going to break something if you keep doing that." He said before he helped me get out.

"Always so impatient." My head shot up and I finally saw him. He was standing at the end of the platform and he looked so damn good.

I pushed Sam out of the way and took off down the platform before jumping right into Bucky's arms, or well arm.

I pulled back and looked at his left arm, "Bucky what happened?"

"Oh doll it's okay, really it's fine. I didn't need the other one."

"But what happened?" I asked and he pulled me towards him.

"You really want to talk about that or do you want to kiss me?"

I laughed and pulled his face down to mine.

Our kiss was electric and even more amazing than it had been the first time. He wrapped his arm around me as my arms went around his neck. We lost ourselves in the kiss as everyone around us disappeared. Well, they almost did.

"Okay listen you can't just push me out the way to come make out with this fool," Sam said as he rubbed his head.

I pulled away from Bucky and laughed. "Sorry, Sam."

"Yeah yeah yeah." He walked towards Shuri, who I just noticed was standing not far away.

"Sorry, uh hi." I waved at her and she laughed.

"Just go you two."

Bucky held his hand out to mine and I took it quickly.

"Let me show you what I've been up to okay?" I nodded and he led me towards what looked like farmlands.

We spent the entire day together and as night fell he took me to the tiny hut house he had been calling home.

"It's not much but it's home right now."

I looked around, finding it to be pretty cozy regardless of it being a hut.

"I like it," I smiled as he stared at me, "I mean I'm sharing a space with Lily, Steve, and Sam so this is a damn palace of cozy compared to that."

"Cora," he pulled me towards him until his forehead was resting against mine, "I love you, I love you so much. I knew I loved you the day I left and that's why I left. I don't know how this happened but you mean everything to me. I know it was fast and we don't know everything about each other, but I want to. I want to get to know you better. I love you so much and I've missed you so much."

I looked up at him, tears in my eyes, and smiled. "I love you too. I think I have for a while. Every little note, or flower when you were gone it just solidified it. You're it for me Bucky. You're all I want."

He smiled then leaned down and kissed me.

Our kisses grew heated and before I realized it we were lying on his bed, my hands in his hair and his lips against my neck.

"We shouldn't do this." He whispered between kisses.

"No, but have we ever done anything we're supposed to."

"You've got a point," He said before he sat up, pulling off his shirt.

I slowly pulled mine over my head, leaving myself in my black bra and jeans. He stared at me, his eyes darkening before he leaned down and captured my lips in an intense kiss. His tongue teased my lips until I opened them to him. We battled for dominance and my legs wrapped around his hips. I was so beyond turned on as his lips went down to my neck and his hand went up my back.

"Baby can I take this off?" He asked, his hand over the clip on my back. I nodded and he flicked it open. I quickly threw the bra somewhere behind him as his lips descended to cover one of my nipples. Electricity soared through my body as he teased me like he'd been doing it his entire life. I rubbed myself against him trying desperately to get the friction I needed. He released my nipple then moved over to the other, my moans growing louder.

"Baby I need you."

"Please, please Bucky please." I whispered, not sure what I was asking for but knowing he would get it.

He sat up and quickly made simple work of my jeans, but paused when he noticed the lace black panties underneath.

"I want to tear these off but they look so damn nice."

I laughed, "Please don't, we don't have many luxuries in hiding."

He gently removed them before standing to remove the rest of his clothes.

He crawled up my legs, kissing as he went until he found my lower lips. "Can I?" He asked and I nodded then screamed. His tongue played with my clit, sending pleasure through my entire body and his fingers worked me like they'd known my body for years. He took his time, getting me closer and closer until I grabbed his head and made him look at me.

"Oh Bucky please I want to come with you, please."

He kissed my clit one last time before he moved up my body and took his place between my legs.

"I don't think I'm going to last very long." He said and I smiled.

"Me either. It's been so long since-"

He kissed me and I tasted myself on his lips and tongue.

"I love you." He whispered as he moved one of my legs up over his hip then pushed in gently.

"I looooooove you tooooo" I moaned as he sheathed himself completely inside of me.

He moved slowly in and out of me as the pleasure grew. I knew it wasn't the easiest to do this one handed so I decided to change it up. I pushed him back and he moved till he was sitting with his back against the wall. I smiled at him before sinking back down on his length.

"I thought this might help," I whispered as his eyes rolled in the back of his head and he moaned.

He grabbed the back of my head and crushed his lips against mine.

We moved together, each of us fighting to get the other one off before finally my walls started to flutter.

"Oh fuck I'm going to-"

"Shh I know me too I've got you."

The next morning Sam knocked on the hut to tell me we had to get going. I didn't want to leave, but I knew after everything that had happened this was the safest place for Bucky to be.

We dressed quietly, both of us not wanting to say goodbye.

"Bucky," I whispered once my clothes were on.

"Come here doll." He pulled me against him and the tears came.

"I don't want to leave you."

"I don't want you to go either. So stay. Just stay with me."

I looked up at him, tears falling freely and shook my head. "I can't."

He stared at me, confusion in his eyes. "There's things you don't know about me Bucky. Hell there's a lot of things I don't know either."

"What does that mean?"

"God I can't even, we don't have time to go over it all. But Bucky do you remember when I said a long time ago that I don't know who I am."

He nodded, trying to wrap his head around my words. "You said you were in hiding."

"Lily and I have been hiding since we were 18 and we have come so close to figuring out who we are, but I can't do that if I'm here."

"Cora," I put my finger over his mouth and smiled.

"I love you, but I need to do this for Lily. I promised her a long time ago that I would be there. I promised that we would finish this together. I can't leave her behind even if that's all i want to do right now."

He tilted my chin up and gently kissed me. "Okay, but the second it's over I want you with me. I mean it Cora, this is it. You're it for me. I won't let you go."

I laughed and smiled at him. "Good because I'm coming right back here the first chance I get."

He kissed me again then we started walking towards the door.

"Steve knows about all of this?" He asked as we walked towards the ship.

"Yeah he kind of saw for himself what's going on."

"Saw?"

"Again a really long story and I promise I'll tell you all about it. I wish we had more time."

He stopped and pulled me into a hug, "No amount of time with you would be enough."

"Agreed." I whispered as Sam whistled.

"Yo Cora we have to go!"

I looked up at Bucky then kissed him lightly. "I love you Soldier. You be good mister."

"I love you too Doll. Be safe okay and stay with Steve. He'll protect you."

I started walking away, but turned back to smile at him one last time.

"I'll come back to you." I said before running to get on the ship with Sam.

As we took off the tears started to fall again.

"Hey you'll see him before you know it." Sam said as he prepped the ship for take off.

"I know, but at the same time I feel like I won't."

He gave me a look then turned back to the controls.

"Sam," I said as we started to get closer to the pick up spot for Steve and Lily.

"What's up Cora?"

I pointed to the blinking light on the panel. "Is that supposed to be doing that?"

"Oh shit," Sam said as he hit the button and Steve's voice filled the ship.

"Sam, Cora, listen something is going on. I got a call from Banner, we need to get Vision and Wanda to safety. I need you two to come to Edinburgh. Nat is already on her way, but we need you so we can fly back to the compound. Hurry."

Sam replied to Cap and we floored it to their location. Once we landed Sam told me to stay on the ship as he grabbed his gear then ran down the platform. Steve appeared with Lily a few seconds later and put her in the chair next to mine.

"What happened?" I asked as he eased her into the seat.

"She got kind of mad. Just stay here and be careful." He said before grabbing his shield and taking off.

I watched Lily as we waited for the group to come back. I had no idea what was going on, but it felt like something really big. It wasn't until I saw Vision that I started to think this might be something bad.

"Oh my god." I rushed over to help Wanda get Vision on board.

"Thanks," She whispered before crouching down beside him.

"What happened?"

"We were ambushed. I don't know what they were but they wanted the stone." She said as Steve, Sam and Nat quickly got on board.

"We need to go now." Steve said before he picked up Lily and gently put her on his lap.

"Steve what happened?"

He looked up at me and sighed. "I don't know all the details but Banner said Thanos is coming. He's already killed Loki and Thor, he's coming here Cora."

"Here? What does he want?"

"The stones. We don't know where Tony is, Banner is pretty sure he is in space, that's a whole other thing. But without Tony I have to go back to the compound. We need to figure out what to do."

I nodded and ran my hand down Lily's blonde hair.

"How was your time with Bucky?" He asked and I smiled.

"Thank you for arranging that. It was more than I can put into words."

"You're welcome Cora. I'm sorry it couldn't be longer." I held up my hand and shook my head.

"Like Bucky and I said, no amount of time together would be long enough for us."

He laughed and looked down at Lily. "You're not wrong."

"She's going to be okay."

"I wish i had time to figure this out for you guys. It just seems like everytime something else just comes up."

"Hey," I said as he looked up, "It's okay. We have plenty of time to figure it out. You're going to stop Thanos, marry my best friend and help us figure out who the hell we are."

He laughed and smiled. "Marry your best friend?"

"Oh you had other plans?" I asked and he shook his head.

"No, I have a ring and everything. Another damn thing that's been put on the back burner because of all this."

"You'll find time. I promise. As soon as this is over it'll all work out."

"Thanks Cora."

Lily woke up just before we reached the compound and immediately freaked out about the state of Vision and Wanda.

"What do you mean Thanos?" She asked Steve who was trying to calm her down.

"Honey listen it's okay we got this. We will stop him."

"Steve," She whispered before he pulled her into his arms. I turned back as their lips met and shared a look with Nat.

"How are you holding up?" She asked and I shrugged.

"I'm okay. I know it's all going to work out."

"I'm glad one of us feels that way."

I stared at her and she laughed.

"You worried?"

"A little, but it always works out right?"

I nodded as Lily put her hand on my shoulder. I turned around and smiled at her.

"How was your trip?"

"It was great, he's doing so good."

She leaned over and whispered in my ear, "You get laid?"

I pulled back and glared at her. "Lily?"

She laughed and took my hand. "I knew it."

"Ugh!"

"Okay listen girls," Steve said as he walked up to us, "I want you to stay at the compound no matter what. I don't know if we're going to have to leave or what we're going to do, but regardless I need you to promise that you'll stay there." We both nodded to him and he sighed, "I'm so sorry that you're both stuck. If we could take you, I would. You're safest with us, but I dont think it's a good idea."

"I agree." Lily said as she looked up at Steve.

"You do?" He asked and she nodded.

"You need to focus and you can't do that with us there. So the smartest plan is to have us go somewhere almost as safe as being with you."

He stared at her dumbfounded, "Uh yeah basically."

"See honey I listen sometimes." She said before she kissed his cheek.

I laughed my ass off as he looked around at everyone.

"Okay you're all witnesses to this. She agreed."

They laughed and Sam announced we were landing at the compound.

The group took off towards the conference room as Lily pulled me towards the bedrooms. We were both exhausted and the idea of sleep was so damn appealing at that moment.

We didn't go to separate rooms, it didn't feel right. Instead we both climbed onto the bed of the first room we found and immediately passed out.

"Lily, baby wake up," I groaned lightly as I heard someone talking to Lily. I opened my eyes a bit and saw Steve crouched down beside her.

"Steve? What's going on?" Lily whispered.

"We're leaving okay. We think we might know a way to get the stone out of Vision without killing him. But we have to take him to Wakanda."

"Wakanda?" She asked as she sat up.

"Yes, but I will be back as soon as this is over okay. Just please stay here. F.R.I.D.A.Y. will protect you and keep the place on lockdown and Pepper knows where you two are, so she will come if you need her."

"Steve," I whispered and they both turned to me.

"Cora?"

"Be safe and tell Bucky I love him." I said before I rolled over and tried to go back to sleep.

He laughed and I heard Lily start crying.

"Please be careful. I can't lose you Steve."

"That goes double for you honey."

"I love you."

"I love you." He whispered as I fell back to sleep.

"Cora, wake up." Lily whispered as she started shaking me.

"Dude come on I'm so tired."

"Why are you so tired?" She teased as she pulled the blankets off me.

"I didn't sleep much in Wakanda and well last night was hell."

She laughed then started dragging me off the bed.

"Well if you weren't jumping a certain winter soldier's bones you would have gotten more sleep. Now get up I need your help."

I groaned, but got up with her. She gestured for me to get dressed and kept telling me to hurry up.

"Dude what's the rush?"

"Okay listen I need to go get something and I need to do it while Steve is gone."

"Okay what do you need?"

She looked at me then put her hand over her abdomen. I stared at her for a moment then my eyes got big.

"Wait really?"

"I don't know. I just feel weird okay and I'm late for the first time pretty much ever. But I couldn't tell him before he left. It would have been a distraction and I need him to be at his best."

"Okay okay let's go." I said as we started walking out the door.

Getting past the security system was easy as hell and thank god Tony had an assortment of cars in the garage. We picked the less flashy of them and were on our way. We had no idea what was going on across the world, but both of our hearts were with our guys. We both prayed that things were okay.

We walked into the pharmacy and Lily stopped in front of the shelf just staring.

"What's up?" I asked and she sighed.

"Which one do I even get?"

I laughed and grabbed one of the digital tests. "These are the best, okay. Plus if you're already late you won't have to worry it's a false negative or positive or whatever."

"How do you know?"

"Have you never watched Teen mom? Dude come on." I laughed as we walked up to the register.

After making the purchase we walked back to the car.

"I'm starving." Lily said as we climbed back in.

"You want to get food?" I asked and she nodded.

"Jesus dude you're probably pregnant."

She laughed as we drove to the coffee shop a couple blocks away.

"Really?" She asked, pointing at the coffee shop.

"You woke me up so I'm getting coffee, deal with it Lily." I said as she laughed. We walked towards the doors of the shop and as I started to grab the handle we heard a scream. I turned around and saw a man completely disintegrate before my eyes. I turned towards Lily to ask her what was going on as she whispered my name.

I looked at her and she pointed to my hand. I held it up as it started to turn into ash. My stomach started to hurt as did my head and the last thing I saw was Lily, her hand doing the same thing.
