CH2 - Demon's Training

#Konohagakure, 5am next day#

It was a beautiful dawn, well already for everyone else except for Naruto, who was forced awaken from his peaceful dream by none other than the demon, Kurama himself.

"Wakeup kit,… if you want to become strong, you need to train. Now get ready for the training that will make you into a real shinobi" said Kurama giggling in his mind.

Naruto woke up irritated, for what Kurama called 'training'. Little did Naruto know, that Kurama was a slave driver even to his own vessel when it came to training or should I say, torture them? Changing into an orange jacket with white collar and an orange sweat pants, Naruto got up and went to the Namekaze compound's training ground, sat in a lotus position and started meditating.

In a few moments, he found himself siting inside the same sewer like place, in which he had accidently entered the last day. He walked forward, until he reached a familiar cage.

"Now Naruto,… from today, we'll start your training. First, tell me what you know about the basic skills of a shinobi?" Asked Kurama seriously.

"From what, the orphanage had taught me, Shinobi (Ninja) use 3 basic skills and they are Taijutsu (hand-to-hand combat), Genjutsu (Illusion technique) and Ninjutsu" Replied Naruto.

"That is basically correct, but some shinobi also use various other techniques while in battle,… which, I'll inform you latter" Said Kurama.

"Usually, those who admire to become a Shinobi start their training with Taijutsu, and only then, do they move on to the chakra related techniques." Informed Kurama.

"What is 'chakra'?" asked Naruto.

"In a living thing, there are three basic types of energies, physical, spiritual and life energy. Physical energy is the energy that you use to walk, talk and do other physical stuff. Spiritual energy is the energy that one uses subconsciously. And life energy is basically you yourself (soul).

Chakra is the mixture of both physical and spiritual energies in a specific amount" Explained Kurama.

"Shinobi use chakra to perform Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, enhanced Taijutsu and some other jutsu. Now, since you were born to a shinobi and since you are a jinchuriki (container of a tailed-beast), you already have an active chakra network. But being a jinchuriki, you will have a very hard time to gain any level of chakra control." Explained Kurama seriously.

"And due to this reason, I'll start your training with basic chakra control exercises along with physical development training and basic academics." Stated Kurama seriously. "Now, get up, you will be running 2 rounds around Konoha in next hour, you will do this every day at 4-5 am, no resting allowed, you'll be increasing the number of rounds each week by 2. Then, we'll start your day's training. And EACH TIME you try to rest or fail in the task, I'll burn you inside-out using my chakra. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!" Exclaimed Kurama with heavy seriousness.

"Yes Sir!" Replied a startled Naruto.

Naruto woke up from his meditative stance and started jogging around the village. In 10 minutes, he found himself panting and getting tired. This caused him to slow down and and rest. Kurama was a beast that kept his word… He leaked a huge amount of tailed-beast chakra into Naruto's semi-developed chakra nodes, which started destroying some parts of his cells and made him cringe with pain. He felt a sort of burning sensation inside his body, as if there was a fire torch being ignited in his stomach.

"Ok,… (pant)… ok! I…(pant)… won't rest…(pant)... Please stop this,…(pant)… KURAMA!" Shouted Naruto.

"I had warned you!" Chuckled Kurama.

"Damn…(pant)… stupid fox!... " muttered Naruto in his breath.

"Hn…" replied Kurama.

Naruto somehow dragged himself throughout the entire course… and fell on the Namikaze compound's training ground as soon as he had completed his jog. "I'll give you 15 minutes to rest… Then you will have to go to the trees in the backyard, there, you will be practicing one of the 2 basic chakra control exercises. That is tree climbing." Explained Kurama and got a tired nod from his Jinchuriki-apprentice.

"Hey, furball, while jogging I felt as if I was being followed by 2 or 3 strong people… did you feel it too..?" Asked Naruto curiously.

"Hmmm… So he's a sensor… eh." Thought Kurama on this new revelation. "Yes, I too sensed them, there were 4 of them, but they didn't have any malicious intention, they must have been Anbu sent by the Hokage to keep an eye on you. It seems that you are one of the few shinobi to have a sensory ability. My jinchuriki usually become sensors of negative intentions, i.e. they get the ability to sense malicious intentions when they learn to control more than half of my chakra. But it seems you are a sensor by default… and it is common for Uzumaki clan members to have some form of sensory ability. Let me explain… enter into your mindscape, Naruto." Commanded Kurama.

Hearing this, Naruto entered his mindscape, "the same old sewer…" Sighed Naruto. "Hey Kurama, is there a way to renovate this crappy sewer?" Asked Naruto, to which, Kurama replied "Of course! This is your mindscape, you can just will it to change its appearance to your liking."

Hearing this, Naruto took a deep breath and willed his mindscape to change its appearance. The old stinking sewer suddenly started wrapping around itself, turning and hissing like some machine. In the end, the sewer had changed into a long mansion, with Kurama at its entrance like a guard. The mansion had wooden flooring, long hallway, with several doors. The hallway was lighted with wall-mounted torches. This was the end of his imagination, for now, as he would add and modify the space, the way he needed it to be in the future, but for now, it seemed fine to him.

Kurama's cage had transformed into a pedestal with the Fourth's seal on the front side of it. He was pleased, as he didn't have to live in the dark and boring cage any longer.

"If you have finished remodeling your 'mindscape', listen to me… There are different types of sensors, some are smell-based sensors like the Inazuka clan of Knoha, some are chakra-based sensors like the Hyuugas' when they use there dojutsu called 'Byakugan', and some of the rarest type of sensors are 'Energy-based' Sensors, they can sense the change in type and or amount of energy in their sensing range. Now, tell me what did you feel, when you sensed the Anbu?" Said Kurama.

"I… I cannot explain it clearly, but I'll try my best to do so…

It felt as if there were 3-4 glows in a different color than the surroundings... now that, I think about it, one of the glowing men-like shape was familiar and perfectly similar to the one who had escorted me to the hokage's office yesterday… They were constantly trying to keep a minimum 8 trees distance from me. I could feel that they were carrying 4 kunais and a few shurikens each, as I could feel a more cooler in the glow." Replied Naruto.

"It seems you are one of the few Energy based sensors. And it seems… that you have one other gift… but I'll have to test its possibility." Remarked Kurama.

"Now, let's begin the tree walking and water walking chakra exercises…"

And so, Naruto's journey of becoming of shinobi started. Kurama first helped him with chakra control by letting flow his own chakra through Naruto's body, so that, he could learn from the feel of the chakra flowing. In a few weeks, Naruto had mastered the two basic chakra control exercises - Tree walking and Water walking exercises.

Kurama, then began training Naruto in the art of taijutsu. Kurama, being a fox, also taught him to think like a fox and take advantage of any situation that was thrown to him. It was during this, that he tested his previous hypothesis…

Kurama had asked him to enter his mindscape, and look at the forms that Kurama's chakra had taken for five seconds and then he had asked Naruto to specify certain details of the forms in detail within 2 seconds. Which, as he had thought, Naruto did brilliantly, only missing a few minor details here and there… which, verified Kurama's hypothesis.

"Naruto… It seems that you have a rather sharp memory… so sharp a memory, that one could consider it to be photographic. Since you have this kind of memory, you should use it in your training more. So, I am going to teach you a ninjutsu, rather a forbidden one that I saw the second hokage, Tobirama Senju develop. It's called 'Kage Bunshin no Jutsu or The technique of Shadow clones' as I said, it's a forbidden technique for a reason that it requires a huge amount of chakra to be activated and it divides the caster's chakra into the number of clones formed and thus is a very risky technique. But since you are an Uzumaki and my Jinchuriki, you will have high reserves of chakra in the future... and so, you can use it to your advantage, as the shadow clones, once dispelled transmit their mental and physical memories back to the caster/ original. This information will help you to reduce the time in which you learn. Now, let me show you the hand signs and focus on how I blend and kneed the chakra to the jutsu."

Kurama took control over Naruto's body and made the necessary hand seals to form the shadow clone and in a poof of smoke, stood a copy on Naruto beside Kurama. Naruto observed the requirements from inside his mindscape with keen concentration and nodded when the jutsu was finished. Kurama gave him back the controls and Naruto used his newly acquired knowledge for a test run. He did the hand seals necessary over and over again, so that it would be stored in his muscle memory. Then he practiced the accumulation of sufficient amount of chakra for a day. And the third day, he practiced and managed to combine the previous 2 days' knowledge and succeeded in forming a dozen of shadow clones.(A/N: He is still 4-5 years old, so he can only do about 12 shadow clones)

The next 5 months, he focused on learning different taijutsu styles with the help of his shadow clones and Kurama mentoring him about how to observe animals and predators and use that knowledge to learn different taijutsu styles.

It was during this time, that he was called to the hokage's office one day.

Naruto was meditating inside the Namikaze compound, when heard a knock on the front door. His sensory skills took over and found that there were 2 Anbu black ops members on the other side of the door. He calmly stood up and opened the door.

"The hokage requests your presence at his office. Be there in 5 minutes." Ordered one of the two anbu members, to which Naruto nodded and closed the door to get ready. "I wonder, what does gramps want from me…" Thought Naruto, while packing up his meditation mat.

#5 minutes later at the Hokage's Office:#

Inside the hokage's office, if looked carefully, one could see an old man buried under heaps of paper work. The old man could be seen wearing a hat with the kanji of 'Fire' embedded on it. Hearing the sound of foot-steps, the hokage looked up and saw the source of the foot-steps to be Naruto.

Naruto could see the heavy fatigue in the old man's eyes. 'Damn the paperwork seems to be harder than your slave-driving of a training, Kurama' Teased Naruto. "Fine then, I'll increase the difficulty, as you seem to be comfortable with the current level." Remarked Kurama to which, Naruto frowned.

"Naruto, how are you?" Asked the Third.

"Fine as usual, Jiji. Just wanted to know why'd you call me here?" Said Naruto.

"Always to the point, eh Naruto. Well, I called you to talk about something special. A few weeks ago, you were victim to a kidnapping incident, I investigated it, and found who executed it. Now, to make you safe from further incidents, I have a proposal for you." Said the hokage, while taking a set of papers from the table's drawers.

"I would like you to meet Hatake Kakashi, one of the father's students and a capable jounin. He had wanted to adopt you for years, but I couldn't allow it till now, as it would have raised suspicions about your lineage and would have put you in more unnecessary danger, as, your father was a famous and feared jounin, thus, had many enemies." Said the Hokage as, a jounin entered the room. For some reason, Naruto could only sense the jounin after he entered the room. 'Hey did you notice?' asked Naruto to Kurama. "It seems that the Hokage has placed some sort of sensory seals, so that no one can notice what you are speaking about. Only his chakra is sensible through the seal." Replied Kurama. 'Ya, but not just that, the Jounin seems to be familiar,… ' Thought Naruto.

"Aren't you the one who brought me here…?" Asked Naruto to a man, who was tall, had white spikey hair. The man wore his Konoha headband in such a way, that his left eye was fully covered by it. He wore a black skin-tight facemask, covering everything below his eyes, or should I say, 'eye'? Kakashi was wearing the Konoha standard chunin/Jounin vest over a black Anbu sweatshirt and black Anbu pants. What made Naruto curious was, that his now covered left eye had a large concentration of energy, as if he was mending chakra to it unknowingly.

"How did you know?" asked the Hokage and Kakashi simultaneously.

"Your energy signature feels similar to you that day." Replied Naruto.

Hearing this, both Kakashi and the hokage frowned. 'So, he has his clan's signature ability… eh' thought Hiruzen.

Kakashi: "So, you are a sensor, eh Naruto?"

Naruto: 'Yup. You also walk and talk in the same manner… which would easily give away your identity to those who know you.'

Kakashi: 'You also have a sharp eye, I see… Would you allow me to adopt you and take care of you?'

Naruto was shocked and felt a sensation that was new to him… till then no one except the Hokage had cared for him, every one would either hate him or harass him for the nine tails inside of him.

Naruto: 'Should I accept the offer? Hell, yeah why not! But would that mean I would not be allowed to visit Namikaze compound?' 'Yes jiji and neesan, is it ok if I call you that Kakashi-san?'

Kakashi: 'Sure… after all, you are the son of my sensei whom, I consider as a father figure.'

Naruto: 'Will I be allowed to enter the Namikaze compound, jiji?'

Hiruzen: 'Yes, but you won't be allowed to live there until you are ready to reveal your lineage. And I recommend you to do so only after you become a full-fledged shinobi. Now, if you don't have any more questions, you may leave and shift to Kakashi's house.'

#Outside Hatake house: 1 hour Later:#

Kakashi: 'So Naruto, you seem to have a good memory, sharp mind, eye, an excellent sensory ability and a well built body for someone of your age… which would mean that you have been training your mind and body for a while. Before I start teaching you, I would like to test your skills… meet me at the woods near academy in the evening, I'll test you there.'

'Fine.' Replied Naruto, and went inside the Hatake house to practice his taijutsu styles, while Kakashi went to the Hokage tower for a jounin meet.

#Later that day:#

"Not fair boss!", "We'll make you pay for this!",… were a few noises that could be heard coming from the Hatake house, as Naruto was sparring with 10 of his clones all while wearing a 10kg weight on him.

1 of the 10 clones sprinted towards Naruto, who in-turn, side stepped a punch and hit the clone hard on the jaw, dispelling it. 5 out of the remaining 9 rushed towards the original, taking out kunai. 'Damn these clones!' thought Naruto, while engineering a plan to end this. "No time!" yelled a clone as he thrust his kunai forward pointing at Naruto's chest. He slipped past the attack in a way similar to how snakes slip, twisting his body in an instant, thrusting his palm while mending chakra in it into the still moving clone's back, dispelling it in smoke. The four out of the five which attacked burst out in smoke, blocking Naruto's line of sight. "A smoke screen, huh… interesting!" thought Naruto. SWOOSH! From the smoke came a kunai, cutting his cheek. 'Damn these weights! And did one of them just threw a kunai… 4 remaining, out of which one should be unarmed since I only had one kunai while making the clones…'. Naruto jumped out from the smoke and was surprised by a spear thrust into his chest. His eyes widened in shock as he looked at his chest which was soaked in blood, his blood. From behind the clone holding the spear walked a clone whose eyes were red in color with black ferocious slits for his pupils and whiskers were more Emphasized.

Kurama-Clone: "Damn Kit! Didn't think a clone could take you down… I'll dispel them and treat your wounds now."

The Clone which was being controlled by Kurama walked towards Naruto and helped him lay down on the ground, after which all the clones dispersed and a red chakra cloak formed around Naruto and started healing him.

## Inside Naruto's Mindscape: ##

In the Hall of the huge mansion, Naruto was walking. 'Those clones did a number on me… They used the transformation Jutsu to become a sphere… that was sooo cool!' Thought Naruto, still walking through the hallway.'The smokescreen was also a genius idea. I still have to improve the technique…'. He walked a few steps and reached a brown wooden door, through which, he entered the room behind it and shut the door gently. One could see that the door was labeled 'Jutsu Research and Brainstorming Room.'.

## 6:30PM. Namikaze Compound ##

Naruto's eyes shot open. He found himself lying on the floor of Namikaze compound's Hall. His wounds were completely healed, to the point that there were only small bruises where there was a fatal wound a few hours ago. 'Thanks, Furball.' Thought Naruto, while Kurama scowled at the his new nickname. 'You ought to be more careful when you train… Aren't you forgetting something?' Teased Kurama, to which Naruto panicked as he had really forgotten about the meeting with Kakashi. Dashing through the hallway he ran towards the 'Rendezvous point'. During the last few months, his speed and agility had increased phenomenally and due to his weight training, so did his strength. 'Damn it! At this rate, I'll be late.' Thought Naruto, while mending chakra in his feet. This made Naruto feel light weighted somehow, increasing his speed further.

'Interesting…' Thought Kurama as they reached the meeting spot. Naruto, after reaching the spot, quickly sensed his surroundings and found no one there. He decided to wait there for the time being. Siting on the ground in a meditative stance, he entered his mindscape and continued his research.

Naruto's Mindscape:

Inside a huge room with several shelves, tables and practice dummies, stood Naruto, looking onto a bunch of scrolls, which were stored here when he read them in his dad's library at the Nammikaze compound. He was interested in a particular technique, which his dad had mentioned in the scroll. It was named, 'Fuinjutsu – The technique of sealing.'. This was interesting to him because in the scroll, his father had mentioned about the Uzumaki clan, his mother's clan.

The scroll documented that 'Among all the shinobi clans, Sealing Jutsu was researched and improved to the highest degree in the Uzumaki clan, so much so that it allowed Shinobi with this knowledge to even seal and contain the nine Bijuu. Sealing jutsu was first introduced to this world by the Rikudou Sennin, the father of Ninshu / Ninja creed. He had used it to seal away the powerful Beast called 'Juubi – The Ten Tailed Demon' and become the first ever Jinchuriki. Fuinjutsu requires large amount of chakra control and chakra reserves to learn, as chakra exhaustion is common among the fuinjutsu practitioners. Fuinjutsu works by converting the object to be sealed into pure energy and then, storing the energy into a storage medium. This is achieved through a special type of patterns called as a 'Sealing Array'. A sealing array may differ depending upon the object to be sealed, the way in which it is to be sealed, the medium / storage and some other things which we'll discuss later. It is important to note that sealing jutsu is different from 'Barrier Jutsu'. The first is used for storing things, while the latter is used to block things from interacting with each other.'

Naruto sensed Kakashi approaching the point and exited his mindscape.

Outside the mindscape:

"Sorry, got lost in the way of life." Was the excuse that Kakashi gave to his adopted brother, while reading some sort of book. This made Naruto squint and scowl in a confused manner.

Kakashi, taking out a bell from his pockets, said with a serious tone: "This is your test, now it's 7pm, you have time till 9pm to capture the bell from me. Use any means you like, but be warned, that you'll have to come at me as if to kill me for you to even have a chance at acquiring the bell. Now… BEGIN!"

Naruto took a moment to capture what Kakashi had said and then dashed forward. He covered the distance between them in a blink of an eye and went straight for the bell. Kakashi merely side-stepped and kicked Naruto's butt, increasing his momentum and crashing into the ground and disappearing in a puff of smoke. This new revelation shocked Kakashi. 'How and from where did he learn that!?' Kakashi thought. Another Naruto charged from the trees while making a hand seal, "Taiju-Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!", 2 clones appeared near the Naruto, who was still in midair. One transformed into a long staff, while the other grabbed Naruto and pushed him straight towards Kakashi. Kakashi was quite amazed at the way in which this 5-year-old kid was using the Shadow clone technique. Naruto thrust his staff at Kakashi's chest, which, he dodged by turning slightly, all the time reading his book. "You aren't taking me seriously, are you?" Asked Naruto sarcastically, to which he replied, "Why would I take a 5-year-old seriously?". This was what Naruto was expecting, a very, very small distraction. The staff transformed back into human form and grabbed Kakashi's arm while kicking his stomach. This made Kakashi take a step back. A stone near Kakashi's footing transformed into Naruto and snatched the bell from Kakashi's belt. Kakashi, realizing that the one that hit the ground and vanished was the original Naruto, who used the smoke released in the transformation Jutsu to make it as if a shadow clone had been dispelled, was lying on the ground waiting for this moment. 'This means that he had planned for this scenario. He sure is your son sensei.' Thought Kakashi as he dissolved into a bulk of mud. The celebrating Naruto was now confused as he looked at both Kakashi and the bell as they had turned into nothing but wet mud. "It's a mud clone technique, a Earth-style / Earth-Release technique." Said Kurama to Naruto.

"Earth Release? What is that?" Asked Naruto.

"Don't be distracted, look incoming at 6'O clock, 45 degree up!" Alarmed Kurama.

In an instant, Naruto channeled chakra to his feet and jumped up, creating a slight airwave underneath his feet and a small crater where he was standing, inside the crater stood a kunai. While in midair, Naruto backflipped and threw 2 shuriken at Kakashi, who was hiding in the trees. Just as the shuriken were about to hit him, Kakashi's body flickered and disappeared in thin air. Through his sensory abilities, Naruto could only sense Kakashi for an instance, as he reappeared behind him, slamming a hard kick into his back. Naruto crashed into a few branches before his body lost its momentum.

"So fast! So, this is what it means to be at the rank of a Jounin…" Thought Naruto.

Getting up from the rubble created by the branches, Naruto looked at Kakashi standing there and reading the damn book!

"Kurama, what time is it?"

"Only 10 minutes have passed since this started. Why did you ask?"

"Just asking. I guess I'll have to do it."

Naruto took out the weights that were present around his waist, ankles and wrists. Crouching on the forest floor like an athlete getting ready for their race, he took deep breaths and focused his aim on his prey. He launched himself forward by releasing his crouching position, much faster than he had run previously, straight towards Kakashi. Just as he was about to reach Kakashi, he jumped in mid motion and positioned himself just above the book reading jounin while performing the handseals for a secret special jutsu, that he had created… "Harem Jutsu!" in a puff of smoke, the young jounin was surrounded by 12 beauties who, were apparently naked with clouds covering their bodies. For a moment, Kakashi's attention was averted from his book and for some reason, his facemask became wet with blood. With a poof of smoke, the 12 clones vanished and behind him stood Naruto with the bell in his hand. Kakashi cursed himself for letting his guard down, even for a moment but praised Naruto for his creativity with only 2 techniques in his arsenal.

"You sure are creative Naruto. I have assessed your current skills and I find that your fighting style, even though wild in nature, dangerously resembles some of the different clan taijutsu styles. I'll help you to further refine them. Form your previous display, I think you are ready to learn different ninjutsu…" and so, Naruto's training under Kakashi began.

2 years passed by, in which Naruto had trained under Kakashi and had even made a few friends to whom he had grown closer to. About a year ago Naruto had started his elemental training, …

Flashback:Training Ground 44 - Forest of Death

The deadly dense forest which was known for it's absurdly large and vicious wild animals was one of the few common places where Kakashi would take Naruto to train. "Training in the wild will help you become strong and stealthy." Was the reasoning that the face masked Jounin would give to Naruto, but he knew the actual reason, which was to meet Mitarashi Anko, a sadistic, special-Jounin who specialized in the art to infiltration, torture and interrogation. Anko had taught Naruto the Hebi (snake) style of taijutsu, which required flexible movements and fast counterattacks. But today was not the day for any taijutsu spars with Anko.

Taking out 2 sheets of paper from his pocket, Kakashi spoke: "So, what had I taught you about the elemental nature or chakra?"

"There are 5 basic chakra nature: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind and Lightning and 2 special natures: yin (Shadow) and yang (Light).", Naruto replied.

"Good, today I'll be teaching you chakra nature manipulation through which, you can use elemental ninjutsu. This is a chakra paper (holding one of the two sheets in his hand.) think of it as litmus paper for chakra. When one applies chakra to it, the paper reacts according to the natural affinity of the chakra…

Fire – The paper catches fire and turns into ash,

Wind - The paper splits into half

Earth – The paper turns into dust and crumbles away

Water – The paper becomes wet

Lightning – The paper wrinkles." Explained Kakashi, while mending chakra to the paper, this caused the paper to wrinkle. Nodding to the explanation, Naruto picked up the 2nd sheet of paper and started mending chakra to it.

Kakashi's eyes widened as he saw the paper get torn apart into multiple wrinkled, muddy wet pieces which crumbled into dust with a sizzling sound and smell. "Wow, what does that mean Kakashi-nee! I am amazing, am I not?!".

"Interesting, … I don't know if it's because of the Kyuubi … but you seem to have all the 5 basic elemental affinities, with wind, water and Lightning being your primary affinities..."

"I assure you that is not the case…" Spoke a red-eyed Naruto, hearing which, Kakashi flinched. The expression on Kakashi's face sent Naruto into a series of laughter. After he was over with laughter, Naruto explained what had happened and how he had met Minato in his mindscape.

"So, you are saying that you befriended the Kyuubi, and it agreed to train you?" asked Kakashi to which Naruto nodded.

End of Flashback

Konoha Academy (2 years after Kakashi started training Naruto):

Walking through the hallway of the academy, Naruto was excited for his first day in the academy. He had heard from his friends that they had joined the academy the previous semester, but he couldn't join in then because of a certain assignment from the Hokage. He could hear chattering noise from his about to be classroom. Opening the door to the classroom, he saw around 20 people (students) were present in there. His eyes skimmed through different faces and stopped at a person who was staring at him. Both stared at each other for a moment before charging forward at high speed. Their fists bumped with each other. "I didn't think that they took dobes like you in the academy, Naruto." Said the Onyx eyed student with long black hair, wearing a purple T-shirt. "You owe me 100 ryuu Sasuke!" was Naruto's reply to that.
