Edelgard's first days at Beacon go good so far, despite the chaos of the Academy. Things chance when the arrival of the headmaster of Atlas, James Ironwood, creates unwanted tension.
Edelgard was in the classroom, watching Jaune have a battle against Yang as part of a trainging routine that she designed. Unfortunetly, he was defeated rather quickly and wasn't able to really put up a fight.
"That settles the score at Yang with 3 wins, and Jaune with 0" - she said, looking dissapointed - "Next are Weiss and Cardin, come here" -
Despite returing to a rather normal look of the world than compared to her xtreme views while transformed, Edelgard still retained her philosophy of the weak rising to become stronger by their own means, but Jaune was clearly not being able to do so, no matter how much she tried to help him.
"Jaune, wait for me after class, I have something to discuss with you" - she said to the blonde student before allowing Weiss and Cardin to continue their fight.
After the class was over, Jaune stayed with Edelgard, who had a lot of things in her mind.
"Ever since I got to teaching all of you, I try to make you rise and become the best you can be. Everyone seems to be improving, but you just don't do it, on anything" -
"I'm trying, but it's just that... I can't compete with the rest of them, no matter how much I try" -
"I've seen you fighting. Your movement is slow, your hits are weak and you can't dodge, you simply aren't capable of dodging any hits" -
"I mean, I have my shield..." -
"A shield that you used 2 times in the span of 3 entire battles" -
Jaune simply sat there in silence. In the few days that Edelgard had been a teacher, everyone talked about a scary aura around her, and poor Jaune got it all to himself.
"Understand Jaune, that I'll make you improve, for whatever means necesary" -
"Wh. What does that mean?" -
"From now on, I'll be training you after every class and in the weekends. This trainings are going to be hell for you, but they almost guarantee that you will improve" -
"Almost? What if I don't?" -
"If you don't, I'll personally go with Ozpin, and you'll be expelled from Beacon. My job is to train the best Hunters and Huntresses I can, and I won't allow someone to disrupt the progress of others. Think about it Jaune, we'll start tomorrow" -
After that, Edelgard left the classroom and before she could arrive to her room, she was intercepted by Glynda, another of Beacon's teachers and staff member.
"Is there a problem Glynda?" -
"Ozpin wants to see you. There's someone here that wants to meet you" -
"Weird, Ozpin and I rarely talk since I joined the professors" -
"Don't make them wait please" -
Edelgard then made her way towards Ozpin's office trough the elevator and when she arrived, she found Ozpin with a man that dressed in fancy white clothes and had black hair.
"Edelgard, good to see you" - Ozpin said with a smile - "I want you to meet James Ironwood, Atlas' Headmaster" -
"A plasure to meet you mister Ironwood" - Edelgard said as she and James shook hands.
"Ozpin wasn't lying when he said he found someone special to help him in the school" -
"I appreciate the flattering, but I'd like to get this meeting over with, I have things to plan for tomorrow" -
"I just wanted for you to meet him, and get you to know James, as he will be staying here at Beacon for a season" -
"For a season? Why is the Headmaster of another Academy staying here at Beacon?" -
"There have been problems with the security of Vale. Crime has been on the rise and the police hasn't been able to stop it, so I'll do it with the Military of Atlas" -
"Why is a Headmaster coming with his own Military? Is Atlas that militarized?" -
"Yes, but thanks to that we've been capable of keeping problems to a minumun, and I'll do the same with Vale is it's requiered" -
"I must disagree Ironwood, overly protecting your city is going to prevent the citizens from improving by themselves" -
"What are you saying Edelgard?" - Ironwood questioned, raising his voice a little.
"Take into consideration what are you doing exactly, you're making the citizens overly depending on the military, but they won't be around forever. Tell me, what if someone attacks Atlas when no one can protect it?" -
"Atlas still has Hunters, which are stationed in the city and don't leave unless ordered, they can protect it" -
"How many Hunters exactly? I hope enough to defend the city if anything happens" -
Ironwood was going to say something, but then he remembered something. Atlas' Hunters were significantly smaller than the military, and they wouldn't be able to defend the city if anything happened to them.
"I thought so. If you excuse me, I'll go rest in my room" - Edelgard got ready to leave before stopping just as she called the elevator - "If you consider yourself a smart man Ironwood, you'd do well in allowing your citizens to rise without needing your Military" -
Edelgard then went to her room, finding Ruby and Weiss standing in front of her door, waiting for her presence.
"Ruby? Is there a problem?" -
"Jaune told us that you'd be training personally with him, can we join that training?" - she asked excited.
"Ruby, those trainings are going to be heavy, I won't hold anything back during them and you might get severely hurt" -
"We'll... Hold ourself responsable if we take any injuries" - Weiss said quietly.
"She's right, I want to get stronger with you!" -
Edelgard thought about it for a few seconds before finally deciding.
"The training starts tomorrow after classes are over, we'll meet in the forest outside of Beacon. I'm going to have you all give your 200 percent during those trainings, so I hope you're ready for what's to come in the future" -
