stately Wayne manor

"These are your guest quarters sir. Please stay for as long as you need them." "Thanks Mister Pennyworth." "Alfred is just fine Mister Rogers." "Please; Steve." "That would be unprofessional for my part sir." "Fair enough." "As you and Mister Wayne... have an arrangement of sorts...I was wondering if I could inquire if you have a...codename we could use for addressing you on operations." Cap smiled. "I do. Nomad or Cap is fine." "Cap?" "For captain. I was often called Cap for short." "Ah, I see. Then Captain Rogers would be more accurate then eh?" Cap shrugged. "Whatever works. I'm not too picky."

"Meals can also be prepared whenever you wish." "Thanks; but as an angel I don't really need to eat or sleep anymore." "Really?" "Yeah. It's weird. I still don't fully understand it. Only that I don't need to." "Very well then. Shall I escort you back to the bat cave?" "That'd be fine. I can help whenever needed. Because I don't sleep I think I can be more useful that way." "Indeed you could; Captain Rogers. Please follow me."

Alfred led him back to the bat cave. There Bruce was still working. "Sir, our guest was in the armed forces. Thus it is more appropriate to address him as captain or Nomad." "Thank you Alfred." Alfred then went to get them both some coffee. "I was telling Alfred because I don't sleep I can help in ways that many others couldn't. I can work the console during the daytime or whenever you need me to." "That could come in handy." "I just like to be of service. I've always been that way." "Good to know."

Cap pulled up a chair and joined Bruce at the station as Alfred returned with their coffees. Cap looked over the screen currently displayed. "Lotta activity here." "There is. Some of it is my traditional rogues gallery and others are from organized crime groups." "What can I do?" Alfred anticipated cap's need and handed him a tablet. "Thanks." It had a real time linkup to the bat computer. Cap skimmed over the data. He scoffed. "What is it?" "Mexican cartels... we had this same problem in my reality in recent times." "Had?" Cap sighed and leaned back in his seat. "Yeah. My America went through a civil war. It was... well, what you would expect a civil war to be. Anyway, organized crime groups there were hit pretty hard." "I see. What motivated it?" "Lotta things. Point is we made things better. But it took a lot to do." Bruce exhaled. "I don't think we're anywhere near that level of hostility here but Gotham has suffered social ills for quite some time. My bat allies and I are working hard to change that...but it's slow going." Cap nodded slowly. "I understand. Wars aren't won easily." "Yes. And crime is a never ending war."

Cap was more of a traditional warfighter in that sense of things but crime too was a war. Again, it always went back to bullies for him: thugs tyrants terrorists; all were bullies of a kind to him. And all had to be stopped; by any means needed. That was Nomad's mission.

"Well, I can put a dent into any of these crime ops that you want." "Good. I have plenty of vehicles. Do you have a preferred one?" Cap smiled a little. "Motorcycles." "I have a few of those too."

The AI bat computer anticipated cap's needs and sent him an inventory of ready cycles that cap could use for crime fighting ops. It didn't take long for cap to make his pick. "Good one" Bruce noted. "I've only used it a few times. A prototype. But it's heavily armed and will do the job." "Good." "Do you need...any costume preparations made?" Cap smiled and scoffed at that. "No. I gave all that up." His beard had been the only real change "costume wise" for the Brooklynite since going rogue.

"Very well. You can also access the other member profiles of the justice league as well. It'd be good to familiarize yourself with them too." Cap nodded. That was always good; especially when dealing with powerful beings that could pose a threat down the road. Like Batman cap thought it was always good to be prepared.

"May I ask you a personal question?" said the dark knight. "Sure." "How did you become this powerful?" Cap exhaled. "I still don't really know. A good friend of mine that died came to me in a vision or something and told me God had elevated me to angelhood status. Archangel more precisely. As I now understand it I serve Saint Michael the Archangel." "Very interesting." "I sure think so. I didn't ask for it; but got it anyway." "I'm sure if God really did it he did so for a good reason." "I hope so."

Bruce took Cap to the garage where that cycle Cap liked was present. Cap's eyes went to the bike right away. "The bat computer already has your bio signature on record to enable tech use." "Cool." Cap mounted it and started it up. He revved it a few times. He nodded with total approval. "The cycle also has full real time mapping in the operator console there to assist urban navigation." Cap used it as Bruce suggested. Cap checked the time. It was still night and he had plenty of it to work with. The storm still hung over the city. But cap was cool with that.

He looked to Bruce out of respect. After all, this was Bruce's city. Cap didn't have to ask to make his query known. Bruce got it. "Okay Rogers. You wanna patrol; go ahead. Nomad right?" "Whatever. My situation makes the whole name thing easy." "All right then. I'll be here for now. I may be in touch or out there again later." "Cool beans."

With that Cap throttled up and drove off. It was a helluva ride. Cap was already in love it seemed. Now to put it to good field use...
