Episode 3

"Garurumon"

We had managed to navigate higher and to a cliff that was overlooking the ocean where Tai and some of the others were closer to the edge, just looking out at the horizon. I was behind the group with Pawnchessmon, not really wanting to be next to the edge thanks to what had happened with Kuwagamon.

"Yo, Agumon." Tai suddenly spoke up and turned towards his partner.

"What's up, Tai?" Agumon responded.

"I like it when you're Greymon. No offence, but why don't you just stay that way?"

"I can't." Agumon sighed and Tai just looked back over the ocean, his arms crossed, clearly lost in thought now. Agumon was quick to add jokingly, "Even superheroes need a rest."

I think some of the dirt shifted under Tai's shoe because he lost balance, almost tumbling off the cliff but Agumon was quick to grab onto Tai's shirt with his claws and making us all laugh until we were interrupted by a loud roar, making us look over. A boulder was destroyed and a black and white dinosaur-like Digimon walk into view on all fours and it had a huge nose horn.

"Who's that Digimon?" Izzy questioned.

"It's a Monochromon, but don't worry about him." Tentomon stated. "He's a laid back Digimon. Although it is wise to be a bit cautious with the Monochromon, they do tend to get a bit miffed when their hungry."

"Then, he must be starving 'cause he looks really mad!" swallowed Tai.

"And I think he wants to eat us!" Mimi squealed. A roar behind us got our attention and we looked to see a second Monochromon.

"There's two of them!" yelped Joe.

"We're caught between a rock and two sets of teeth!" Matt glanced between the two Digimon. We all scampered behind some boulders just as the two Digimon charged at each other.

"Something must have set the Monochromon off." Tai stated as we all watched the two fighting.

"They're fighting over territory." Tentomon explained.

"They can just have it then!" Palmon huffed before she scampered away.

"Hey, don't leave without me!" Mimi quickly followed after her partner with the rest of us quickly following after.

"They defiently don't need us hanging around!" Tai stated as we all continued to run until I noted that Tai was stopping and looked back. I slowed, looking over my shoulder and saw that TK had tripped and Matt had just knelt down beside him and was going to help him up.

"Better hurry up, you guys!" Tai called back to them. TK got to his feet and began running again, Matt quickly following.

After what seemed like hours running, we slowed to a walk and that was the base we continued throughout the rest of the day before I noted the sun going down. Man, it was going to be nighttime soon and I was tired and hungry and we don't have a shelter.

"I don't walk this much unless I'm at a mall and, as you can see, we're no where near one." whined as she leaned against a tree.

"Mimi, stop whining." Tai said as he passed her.

"No, my feet hurt!"

"Maybe if you'd take off your boots and socks you'd feel better, Mimi." Agumon told her, just trying to be helpful. "It's much more practical, I think."

"I'm not walking in dirt with my bare feet!"

"I love the feel of dirt under my feet, especially between my toes." Palmon stated.

"Gross!"

"It appears that we might be loosing our light source." Izzy stated as he looked up at the sky that were now just yellows, oranges and whatnot.

"What a weird sunset." Sora commented.

"This whole island is weird and who knows what will come out and night."

"Wait, I detect water! Stay here while I check it out." Tentomon began to fly up towards the sky and was quite for a few seconds. "Yes, as usual, I was right! It's a lake with fresh, clean water and a variety of tasty fish! It's a perfect campsite."

"Maybe I can finally soak my poor achy feet." Mimi sighed.

"Yay! We get to swim!" Gomamon was starting to charge towards the direction but Joe and grabbed his tail and stopped him.

"Gomamon, you better wait and make sure it's safe first!" The oldest boy told his partner.

"That's why I think we should keep walking and stop all the complaining." Matt told them.

"Everybody's hungry. We have to find some food." Tai added.

"That is a good plan. I like that plan a lot." Joe stated, making me roll my eyes before I started to walk with Pawnchessmon beside me. I swear, that's all the other's like to do, just talk, talk, talk.

After a few moments of me walking ahead, I heard Tai call out my name before hurried footsteps began to follow after us. Tai got up beside me and, when I looked up at him, he was giving me such a scolding look.

"What? You guys were taking way too long with the talking and I wanna get to the lake before dark." I told him before looking ahead.

When we did get to the lake, I could see some structures, electrical towers I think, sticking out of the water. It was obvious they weren't in use but I gotta wonder just how they got there.

"It should be safe to rest here, tonight." Biyomon told us.

"Yeah, I love camping outside." Sora hummed.

"If I won't walk in dirt, what makes you think I'll sleep in it?" Mimi huffed.

"Mimi, do you see a hotel here?" Tai questioned and just as Mimi was going to resort, a sound caught our attention. We turned to look and saw a trolley car lighting up.

"What's that?" asked Tai.

"It looks like a trolley car." TK answered.

"That's odd. The lights just came on." Izzy stated.

"Well, maybe there are some real people in there." Sora suggested.

"Let's check it out!" Tai ran forward with Agumon and the rest of us followed. I saw that it was on what looked like to be an island with a strip of land connected it to the shore.

"Maybe they can take us back home in air-conditioned comfort!" Mimi stated, sounding so hopeful. But I wasn't getting my hopes up with this discovery. Tai and Agumon was the first to get into the trolley car.

"Bummer, it's empty." He sighed.

"Totally empty." I heard Sora state as she got into the second entrance after Izzy had. The rest of us filed into the car without much hesitation.

"Oh, goody! these cushions are comfy!" Mimi hummed as she sat down.

"Something's wrong." Tai frowned. "Remember those weird phonebooths we saw on the beach? Something just as freaky could happen here."

"Yeah, like this suddenly moving all by itself." Joe stated as he sat at the controls.

"Possibly, but then again, maybe that's how we're going to get home."

"So, we have nothing to lose by staying here." Sora hummed.

"Can we eat now?" Tentomon whined.

"That's right. I forgot." Tai sighed and we all filed back out and went to do our own thing. I decided to go with Izzy and TK to catch some fish, though it was Izzy mainly who was doing the fishing. TK and I just stood side by side and watched.

"Gomamon!" Izzy snapped as the said Digimon's head popped up from under the water as he swam passed. "Stop playing in the water! I can't catch any fish if you keep warning them away!"

It took a few minutes but Gomamon did swim away from Izzy's fishing spot. I just shook my head as I watched Izzy fish. Soon, TK and I weren't paying much attention to Izzy and, instead, started to talk amongst ourselves. We were mainly talking about our favorite video games and movies and we were allowed to see before TK started to tell me about his parents' split, about how he and Matt didn't live together anymore and I felt bad that TK had to go through that. If that were to happen and I was separated from Tai and/or Kari, I wouldn't know what to do with myself.

"Hey," Izzy suddenly turned his attention towards us. "I'm done and I caught a lot of fish. You guys wanna help carry them?"

"Yeah!" TK and I jumped up and took some of the fish before scrambling where Tai, Matt and Sora was setting up a fire with Agumon.

"Hey, lookit!" chirped TK.

"We caught a bunch of fish!" Izzy stated as Izzy handed his over to Tai, TK handed his over to Matt and I handed mine over to Sora who took them and ruffled my hair with her free hand. The three of them got as many fish as they could on sticks and got them as close to the fire as they had to be for them to cook right and now, its the waiting game. I sat next to Tai after he had sat down and he gave me a one armed hug, pulling me against his side.

The fish had finished cooking just after night fall and everyone was already eating except for TK.

"Matt, mon only lets me eat fish sticks."

"I won't tell."

"I never eat with my fingers."

"TK, it's alright." Matt raised his voice slightly but not enough to scare him. It was obvious that he was loosing his cool but Tai had gotten up and walked over.

"Yeah, you're hanging with the big boys now. Look at Sota?" Tai motioned to me as I just dig into my fish and giving them a little wave.

"Well, okay." TK dug in and Tai made his way over to Sora. I continued to eat my fish until they were just bones and just parts of the fish I just would not eat. I set the used sticks down and stretched before hearing a loud yawn and making me look over.

"Patamon's tired." TK stated as he watched his partner lay down. Gomamon and Palmon was leaning against each other, already snoring away.

"I'm getting really tired myself." Tai stretched and I looked over at him.

"Wait a second." Izzy walked over to Tai. "I think we should take turns standing guard."

"All right, who goes first?" asked Joey.

"How about if each of us stands guard for about an hour?" suggested Tai.

"Not TK." Mat stated as he stood.

"Aw, come on Matt, me too!" TK also stood and grabbed his older brother's shirt.

"No, you're too young and you need your rest!"

"Same goes for you, Sota!" Tai called over to me. I just pouted and grumbled at him.

"I'm getting cold." Mimi joined in the conversation as she walked closer to us. "I need a warm blanket to help me sleep."

"Hey Gabumon, watch it, Mimi may sneak up on you and steal your fur in your sleep." Tai teased, doing a creepyish voice. "So if you feel a little tug, it might be her about to cut your tail off."

He gave the edge of Gabumon's pelt a small tug to empathize his point.

"Stop Tai, that's not funny!" Gabumon yelped, freaked out as he scurried out of Tai's hold. Matt was quick to shoved Tai angrily but I ignored the two in favor of going to Gabumon.

"Don't worry, Gabumon, Tai loves to freak everyone out." I assured him. "Though, this is him being tame, he's much worse on Halloween."

Gabumon looked at me, as if he didn't believe me on that. I just shrugged before heading to the trolley car, wanting to claim my spot before everyone else did. He climbed into the care, looked around before settled down on one of the seats on my side and curled up. A few minutes after that, Pawnchessmon walked into the trolley car and walked over to me. Instead of climbing on the seats like I thought he was going to do, He sat down against the seat where I was laying, his spear laying beside him.

I didn't say anything, just simply closed my eyes and dozed off.

My eyes snapped open and I was suddenly wide awake when the trolley car started to shake before it stopped and a loud roar sounded, waking everyone up. Pawnchessmon was quick to get to his feet, putting a hand on my shoulder as he peered out the window.

"What's that horrible sound?" asked Sora.

"It's an earthquake!" shouted Mimi.

"The trolley's starting to move!" Joey stated the obvious. "A-And I don't think its taking us home!"

"It's taking us towards the sea dragon!" Izzy told us, making me quickly pear out the window.

"Oh no, Seadramon!" buzzed Tentomon before we all piled out of the trolley car. Seadramon had began to swim, taking the land that we were on with him.

"We're gonna get eaten for sure!" Mimi cried.

"Hold on tight, we're going for a ride!" Agumon stated as Seadramon sped up.

"It's like we're on a monster long board." Tai stared.

"He's pulling us along with his tail." Izzy realized after a moment. "I don't think he even realizes we're here."

"Perhaps not. He's a bit...dense." Tentomon told us. "As long as he doesn't see us, we should be safe."

"Don't be too sure."Agumon gulped.

"You guys jinxed us! Now he knows we're here!"

"What?" both Agumon and Tai questioned at the same time. "I didn't do anything."

"Woah!" Izzy yelped as the tail that was sitting just inches in front of them came loose. "I guess he does know we're here!"

"That big red thing was his tail!" yelped Tai. Seadramon slammed the said tail into the side of the island, causing it to tilt and me to go tumbling onto by behind before the water Digimon dived back into the water before heading towards us again. "He's comin' back and he's not happy!"

Seadramon slammed into the island, jolting it back towards the opposite shore but we stopped on those dead electrical towers, leaving us in the middle of the lake. Then, he surfaced again, staring down at us.

"Come on guys, lets send him back to the fishies!" Agumon huffed.

"SPIRAL TWISTER!"

BOOM BUBBLE!"

The two attacks hit Seadramon's face.

"POISON IVY!"

The attack didn't even come close to Seadramon.

"SUPER SHOCKER!"

Tentomon's attack hit him just below his head.

"PEPPER BREATH!"

"PAWN LIGHTNING!"

The attacks hit Seadramon's snoute but they did nothing. None of the attacks had.

"Agumon, digivolve!" Tai ordered.

"I've been tryin' but I can't seem to do it this time, Tai." Agumon stated dejectedly.

"You have to!"

"Maybe my body hasn't recovered from the last fight."

"But if you can't help us, how are we gonna stop Seadramon?"

"TK!" We suddenly heard Matt yell. "Over here!"

"Matt, be careful!" TK called out as he ran to the other hand of this small island and when I looked, I could see Matt swimming closer with Gabumon behind him. "Or the monster will get ya- aah!"

TK fell forward and into the water when the island shook and Gomamon quickly dived after before coming back up with TK on his back. Then, Matt was swimming away, shouting and getting the water Digimon's attention.

"BLUE BLASTER!"

The attack hit but did nothing and Seadramon just hit Gabumon with his tail, sending him flying. Matt dissapeared from view as he went under and, after a few minutes, came up with the red tail wrapped around him, lifting him into the air.

"This is not good." Tentomon stated. "Seadramon may be a bubble brain, but once he finds his prey, he won't let go."

"Matt, hang on!" TK shouted, teary eyed before he looked at his partner. "Patamon please, you gotta help him! Hit him with a bubble boom."

"Seadramon's way too big." Pattamon stated sadly. "I just don't have enough power right now. Gabumon, you're stronger. How about you?"

"All right. Matt's in trouble and I must help." Gabumon responded before Matt called out to him, making us all look. "I have to save Matt. Sure I'll have some sticky fur, but Matt is more important!"

I saw Matt's digivice starting to light up and, when I looked at Gabumon, he had a bright light surrounding him before he began to change.

"Gabumon digivolve to...GARURUMON!"

When the light died down, a large wolf-like Digimon was where Gabumon had stood. It's fur was white with blue stripes and he had yellow eyes and red claws. He jumped into the air and hit Seadramon's tail, freeing Matt before he clamped is on Seadramon's back, just below where the first set of fins were. This gave Matt time to swim towards us.

Seadramon hit Garurumon with his tail and the wolf went under the water's surface. I looked over and saw Matt panting, his torso up on the ground as TK ran over to him.

Garurmon's fur is legendary, its strong as steel." Tentomon informed us. "He's like a growling torpedo!"

"That's astonishing, then he must be invincible!" Izzy stated.

"Well, that's what I heard, anyway. We'll soon find out."

"I hope you're not exaggerating, Tentomon, with another one of your wild fish tales again." Tai spoke up as he and Agumon watched the battle. I looked over and saw that Seadramon was using a ice attack, Ice Blast as Tentomon called it, but Garurumon broke free from the ice that was frozen on him.

"HOWLING BLASTER!"

A blue stream of flames erupted from the Garurumon's jaws and it hit the mark, hitting Seadramon's head. He let out a roar of pain before he fall back into the water and just like that, the fight was done. We all let out a cheer before Garurumon had to de-digivolve back into Gabumon.

As the sun began to rise, Gabumon had gotten to the island and Matt and TK was there to greet them, TK thanking him for saving Matt. Gomamon hopped into the water, summoned his fishes and pushed the island back to the shore until it sort of crashed into it.

Once everyone had walked onto the shore, I followed but tripped thanks to my sleepy fogged mind. Pawnchessmon quickly caught me before I could land on the ground. "A little tired, Sota-sir?"

I could only let out a yawna nd that gave him his answer. He helped me towards the tree and set me down before he set down beside me. He tugged me until I was leaning against and, even though his armor wasn't the same as my brother's side, I still ended up falling asleep comfortably with a harmonica melody ringing through the air.
