1996- A small group of Center lead by Philip Jones began a plan designing in order to ensure recruitment and future covers mission into Section. Wirth was included in the main strategy.

The recruit, Nikita Wirth finished her trained and she was activated as an agent after a final test designed by her mentor, Michael Samuelle. She refused to kill at cold blood, which affected Samuelle`s performance. She killed for the first time when her mentor was in danger.

In an attempt to recover the Directory the hacker is assassinated and the target file is lost in a public collective. The Directory file is suspected to be among some of the passengers. Although the file was still missing, Benko, who tried to get the directory, was neutralised by Section. Nikita begins a relationship with a citizen involved in Section's investigation during the Directory search.
For the first time in the world, a woman has succeeded another as elected head of state.
During a mission to destroy a chemical plant in Eastern Europe, Michael Samuelle was abandoned and injured. In an attempt to get Samuelle back, Egran Petrosian, a double agent from Section One, was also rescued.
In Egypt, more that fifty people were killed by Islamic militants.
Representatives from several countries signed an agreement prohibiting the manufacture and deployment of anti-personnel land mines. However, some nations do not sign or ratify the treaty.
Red Cell broke Section One's directory, causing structural damage and loss of agents.

Months later, and in accordance with the plan designed by Mr. Jones, Central decided to activate Trojan horse protocol in order to recruit agent Wirth and carry out a counterintelligence mission. The primary objective of Agent Wirth is to inspect certain Section One activities and report them to Central.
1998- Central began preparations to facilitate Nikita Wirth's reinsertion into Section One.

Nikita was kidnapped by the remnant group Freedom League. After learning about the upcoming destructive manoeuvres against the agents of the different Sections, Nikita escaped. She saved Michael`s life, who was ambushed by Freedon League during a mission. After discovering that Nikita was still alive, Michael obtained Nikita's location. Once he found Nikita, Michael revealed his feelings to her and proposed her to come back to Section One.
Central's plan comes true: Nikita returns to Section in order to start his counterintelligence tasks. The special operations agent, Jurgen, who was Samuelle's mentor, is assigned to study Wirth's physical and psychological performance, in order to determine if she follows the standards required by Section One.
An attempt to change the head of operations forcibly was executed by Egran Petrosian.
The first euro coins are minted in France.
In some part of Asia, at a demonstration demanding President's resignation, the army soldiers opened fire on unarmed protesters.

The activist group ''L'Heure Sanguine" was reactivated with funds from Red Cell. Samuelle betrayed, Rene Dian, who was his friend and founder of the activist group. During the group's dismantling mission, Dian dies.

This treatment induced a temporary amnesia, where his original personality emerged prior to the death of his parents. Michael was able to recover his memory thanks to the help of Nikita and Walter.
