I decided to take inspiration from the NY Special but of course it will be different. I will write how Mari would interact w/ Alya, Nino & Adrien since she never met them in this story. Hope you guys enjoy this one especially how Mari gets her miraculous.
Jess's POV
A few weeks have passed by so it's November and Marinette got out of her leg cast. I had to carry her backpack and school supplies for every class we were in. I always told her to always be careful when she walks. Can't believe it, me acting like a mom over her as a daughter ugh. I just want her to heal properly and just be safe.
Today I thought to myself during French class 'This week is national American French friendship week which was alright in my opinion but I think the school should put their money into something fun.' I had my right hand on my chin leaning forward on my desk in the back of the class. I'm only taking this class because I do find french interesting about the culture and language. Learning it although is a lot of work but it does get easier the more you practice. I know I could practice with Marinette after school since she is fluent in it but I wouldn't want her feeling like I'm taking advantage of her.
Although it would be a good way for us to feel connected due to having a common language and she wouldn't mind helping me if I am struggling with a topic. In class we are just talking about what we will do when the French students come to visit. Everyone is talking but I do see Marinette who's two desks in front of me. She is writing or drawing something about fashion in her free time. I decided to go up, take a single chair and put it next to her.
Mari's POV
I am glad that my leg and lots of my bruise healed up but I wish I could have seen it coming. That bitch Chloe has got too far on me honestly if I could get payback on her I would at any cost. My parents were freaking out when they got the news because they never expected it. Afterward I had to have Jess as my bodyguard since she has met my parents.
I know I should be talking to the class about how it would be cool meeting other students from my country but the only person I'm close to is Jess. I was just drawing something sparrow themed in my notebook of designs to give to him if I met him one of these days. I haven't forgotten about Jess & Aeon's present but I was focused on Sparrow's gift a bit more.
"Hey Mari so how are you feeling about this week?" Jess said with a smug look on her face while crossing her arms on the top of the chair. She was sitting the opposite way of the chair. This made me scream a bit, flinch my arms to go in the air but quickly covered the pad while my head turned to Jess. I didn't hear Jess pull up next to me cause I was focused on my drawing so I could feel my cheeks turn really red. Jess laughed cause she finds it really funny when I do something silly.
"Um- Ugh- What about? Sorry I was drawing something in my notepad to keep up for Fashion class" I said. I know I lied about the last part but it's to keep Jess from seeing what it was. Yes she has been in my room but every time I know she comes I hide anything Sparrow related cause I don't want her to know. "About the American French friendship week. You get to meet other students from where you are from. How come you were never able to visit before? Don't you have relatives there?" Jess asked, looking at me.
I said in response "Oh yeah! I am excited to meet people from where I'm from instead of here. Don't get me wrong! It's nice to meet others here but it would be nice to know others who actually grew up from there their whole lives. I'm not able to go visit Paris cause the only family member I know of is my Uncle Wang Cheng but he lives in Shanghai. So I have no one there besides my family is alway busy with the bakery because they are making bank." There was a bit of a silence between us but I think Jess had to take in the information first.
She replied "Wow Mari I didn't know that but thanks for letting me. I am happy for you that you can meet others you feel connected to. Just make sure they won't backstab you. So you're trilingual? Are you good at speaking Chinese?". I know people can forget I am half Chinese since I look more white from my dad so I don't blame people for forgetting my race. I said putting my fingers together, looking away shyly "Hehe about that. I hardly know any. I didn't bother learning it or was taught it."
I looked at Jess's face, she was in shock and said "For real? Interesting". She leaned in closer to me which made me blush. "Yeah my parents thought it would be best for me to learn French at first, then learn English during school. So now I speak more English everywhere but French once a while depending who I'm with" I said looking in her big brown eyes. "Well that's good. I'm proud of you Mari" Jess said, hugging me on the side.
*Later that night*
JESS'S POV
I'm in my Sparrow costume training my routines to be prepared to defend the civilians of New York. I know if something goes bad for the American French friendship week in 2 days so I have to be ready at all costs. Night owl, Uncanny Valley & Majestia we all train as a family session but this time it's a combat of one to one. Right now I'm fighting my mentor Night Owl.
I said in my disguised voice "Ready when you are Sir". I have my body in a fighting position. My left leg in the front and the back leg bent down a bit, my body is lowered a bit with both of my fists near my chest. Night Owl was in the same position and said "You must focus, don't let anything distract you". Both of us then ran at each other but the Night owl made the first punch with his right fust but I dodge. I kicked him using my right leg that got on his rib. I felt that I barely made it but he actually groaned meaning I have gotten stronger.
I tried to turn my left leg into a circle to hit him on his head but the Night owl surprisingly got my left leg then was slamming me on the ground a few times on my back. Then he tossed me aside but I did a backlift to save myself from landing on my back. I decided to pull out my Escrima Sticks which I've been practicing a lot more on in my free time. I use them hitting Night Owl on his sides, legs and back which does make him fall to his right knee sounding tired. In his disgusted voice I heard "I admit you got good at those but not good enough". This caught me off by surprise that he leaped from his injuries quickly. "What!" I said as he tackled me to the ground. He weighs so much on me that I thought I couldn't move for a second. Majestia said "Sweetie go easy on Sparrow" as a concerned mother she is. He responded "I'm sorry but no. He has to learn to get out of tight situations on his own".
Luckily for me I was able to get my right arm free from his grasp and used my elbow to hit him on his head multiple times. Night owl responded to the pain which made the grip become loose. I kick him on the chest and have my hands on the ground to make my body go backward. I stand on my legs a bit wobbly but try not to show any signs of pain so Majestia and Uncanny Valley don't be concerned. Night owl is barely woosy which gives me the opportunity to sneak attack behind him. I get a smoke bomb and activate it causing my exit to be unnoticed. Night Owl clears the smoke using his cape and his sight becomes clear. "Okay I see what you're doing but I don't think it'll work on me. Did you forget who taught you how to attack in the dark?" he said in a loud voice.
The owl cave had a lot of echoes which I used to my advantage and said "Yes you did sir but I decided to switch things up a bit". He is turning around trying to find the source but I was moving during the talk in the cave pathway. My shoes are quiet though which can allow me to sneak up on people. I decided to throw a bomb owl ray near Night owl, he noticed it but it did explode on the cement. He laid on his back but I don't think he can see so I decided to jump down to get him on the chest. I yelled when I was going down and had my right leg in a kicking position. I was getting closer to his chest but he caught me again on my boot and threw me again. I tried to get up but I can feel the pain coming back.
I tried one more time to get him but when we were running to each other. I felt a sharp pain in my left foot which caused me to stop in a place for a moment. This pain made me remember what Mari went through, especially her being thrown from the staircase. I could feel my breathing be heavy again. I didn't notice I zoned out until Night Owl hit me in the stomach, making me open my mouth and cough a bit of blood in my mask. I said holding my stomach wrapped around my arms, having my knees on the ground 'Oowww ooww I give it up I think it's enough training for me". I could tell Night Owl wasn't having it but Majestia shouted "Enough I think we should call it a night". I looked up to see Night Owl agreeing but asked "What went wrong, Sparrow? You could have had me but you stopped. This is why I said focus today".
That's just Night Owls way of showing concern without emotion. I was going to reply but I laid on my left side curled up cause my body hurts. Majestia puts her hands on Night Owl shoulders to calm down while UnCanny Valley holds me in her arms. She blasts off to take us to the little emergency room we have. She said to me "Here we go but let me take off your helmet" when she laid me down on the bed. I let her because I can't do it myself.
"I don't understand what went wrong. Your strategy, use of weapons and being in the shadow went perfectly well. Just like Night Owl said, what went wrong? You can tell me I am your sister". She did transfer back to her civilian outfit and held my right hand to both of hers. I turned my head towards her and said in a weak voice "Promise me! You won't tell our moms. The past few weeks I haven't been able to come to practice much because I've been helping Marinette get better from her incident. It was my fault for not getting there on time.. I- … I could have saved her. But I decided I will give her a specific Miraculous to help her become confident and not be a pushover". I always wanted to cry for her but I was taught not to show emotions like a guy is taught. "Because you have strong feelings for her don't you" Aeon said. This caught me off guard causing me to almost get up but the pain from the bruises on my back and stomach made me stop. My eyes did get big cause I thought it wasn't obvious.
Aeon told me not to worry because she won't tell anyone. I told her to get the Native American box since I'm the guardian now. I looked into it but in my gut feeling I could tell none of these would be a good match for her. I looked up to Aeon in a concerned look and said "Fetch me that lucky one the guardian left me just in case as an emergency". She replied back "You don't mean… the ladybug one". I nodded and she went to go get it for me. I know the pain I have will go away tomorrow cause my body is used to it but not all of it will go away so I will have to hide it. I picked up the earrings and thought to myself while staring at it 'Marinette by the time I give you this. Your life will change from now on to give you a brand new start'.
National American French Friendship week starts
Mari's POV
Today is the day I get to meet french people and hopefully we can become friends. I am happy though that me, Jess and Aeon are sharing a 2 bedroom together for the week. I sleep on my own and Aeon & Jess share one together since they are siblings and I wouldn't want to become between them.
Once we go down to the main hall, I notice this brown girl with glasses, red hair, blazer shirt, blue pants and white shoes. A brown guy with glasses, a red hat, a blue shirt & pants with headphones around his neck. A brushed back blonde hair boy with green eyes, white collar, black shirt with 5 horizontal stripes, I go up to them and introduce myself "Bonjour, je m'appelle Marinette". They are all around the same height so I look tiny to them. The girl in glasses came up to me and said "Hello my name is Alya" as she shook my hand and looked me in the eye.
She stops and lets go to introduce me to her other friends. She turns and points to the one in the glasses "This is Nino". He responded "Yo what's up my dude? Nice to meet you". I greet him with a smile and a laugh. "It's nice to meet you," I said, giving him a fist bump. Then she pointed to the cute blonde boy and said "This is Adrien Agreste". I could feel my heart beating a bit fast and my cheeks blush a bit but I don't feel a strong connection to him like I do when I see Jess or Sparrow. "Hello," he said, giving me his hand. I shook it and replied back to him "Aren't you the famous model in Paris? I've seen you on the fashion website. I plan on being a fashion designer myself". He chuckled a bit making his cheeks red a bit, putting his right hand behind his neck and responded saying "yeah I'm glad you ain't fangirling like other girls who meet me". I smiled and said "True! I do my best to stay calm near celebrities since I do meet a lot of them when I go into my parent's bakery. The best in New York I might say so myself".
He said to me with his left finger gun "That's actually cool Marinette!". I giggled and replied back "I don't know if you know but I created those Eiffel tower sunglasses. He asked me when he noticed me sketching in my parent's bakery dining room. He looked into my designs and asked me to make something for his world tour concerts". They all replied "Woah! That was you. How was he?". We started chatting a lot, exchanged social media accounts like Instagram and got along very well.
Jess's POV
I'm with Aeon talking with our other friends. I do turn my head a bit and see from the corner of my right eye to keep an eye on Marinette. I'm glad she's interacting with others but I know I should trust her and let her make her own choices. Aeon touched my shoulder and said "Jess you don't have to be her guardian angel. She has the qualities of a superhero even without knowing it yet". She smiled seeing what I see in Marinette and that made me smile. I turned my head back to her and said in a soft voice, "Yeah you're right!".
We all go into the museum to see the Eagle necklace. Well I know it's an Eagle miraculous since I have to know other miraculouses in the United States if I'm needed anywhere else. The door man tells us to go to the next room but I grab Marinette's shoulder to bring her down to hide with me. She turns around, filled with shock in her eyes and her mouth is open cause she wasn't expecting me to do that. I tell her "Hey Mari I need to ask you something personally but I don't know how to do it". She closed her mouth and asked "What's wrong?". I looked around to see if it's just me and her alone in the room. I do see Aeon touching the switch to close the doors since that's one of her powers.
The doors are now locked which gives me relief that I can give her the miraculous. I look at her in the eyes when she gets up from the ground. I opened my mouth to say "Marinette… I want to give you something". Her eyes got big and said in a nervous laughter "Ahh you're giving me a gift I try to make you & Aeon one but I'm not sure if it's perfect". I felt my cheeks blush a bit for a second but snapped out of it and said "Kinda.. Look I-". Before I could give her the miraculous and explain everything, there was an explosion. We turn around it's Techno Pirate coming in. I drag Mari by the wrist to hide her from his sight. Aeon changes to her superhero form when she notices who it was so she distracts him. I whisper to her "Mari okay you get help. I'll find a way out". She grabbed my right hand with her right and squeezed it asking "What are you going to do?". She squeezed it a bit to let me know that she was scared for my safety.
I squeezed back to let her know not to worry and I responded "I'll just be a distraction for a bit. Don't worry I'll be okay. I just want you-". Before I could finish my sentence I felt a pair of soft lips onto mine. My heart is racing so fast, my eyes got big because I couldn't believe Mari has feelings for me. I kiss her back and cup my left hand onto her check. She tasted like Cherry which was so sweet and I wish I could be like this forever. But I have to turn into Sparrow from Marinette's sight. We end the kiss and she runs out the door while I'm a bit starstruck. When I heard Aeon hit the wall from the punch of Techno Pirate that made me snap out of it. Uncanny Valley said "Come on help me we're alone" while looking at me hiding. I nodded, touched my bracelet and I am now Sparrow on duty. I get my Escrima Sticks to see if I can find a weak spot on Techno Pirate.
Mari's POV
I don't know why I kissed Jess but I just needed to let her know how I feel. It felt like a good point to let her know I see her as more than a friend. I know I'm in love with Sparrow but Jess reminds me of him for some reason. I barely get out of the room but another explosion goes through the wall. Techno pirate absorbed Uncanny Valley power so he cut the plane model above me since I was underneath it. He said "Bon Voy aye little girl".
I close my eyes and cover my face with my right arm but before I thought my life ended before my eyes. Then I felt my body move and someone was on top of me. I open my eyes, I feel my heart race so fast and my face turning super red cause Sparrow is on top of me. I giggled so much and looked away to hide how I felt that my hero is on top of me in person.
I try to keep my cool and I hear Sparrow ask me "Hey girl are you okay? Anything broken?". I could feel myself speechless but responded "Oh no I'm okay, nothing broken". He picks me up in a bridal style to get away from the crime scene. He takes me outside and takes me on the roof. I asked in a concerned voice "Where's Jess? She's a friend of mine who was in there". He told me "Don't worry I placed her face away from here too. I could take you to her but I have something to give to you".
Inside my body I could feel myself tingling but my body was more shocked that Sparrow wanted to give me something. "Marinette Dupain Cheng with the power of the Ladybug Miraculous. You have the ability of good luck and the power to fix everything. By taking this Miraculous do you swear on protecting the city from criminals, protect civilians and not telling anyone your identity". At this point I was breath taken by his proposal of me being his partner but deep down I wanted to kiss him. I nodded my head and took the black box to open.
Once I open it a bright red light appears and I cover my vision with my right arm to see what was going on. The light goes away and this red bug mouse creature appears. The thing replied "Hello Master, my name is Tikki and I am your kwami. All you have to say is Tikki spots on". I put on the earrings quickly and said "Tikki Spots on!". The transformation happens so fast that I see myself covered in a long bodysuit red spandex with spots and feel a red and black spot mask on my face. I replied in a nervous voice "I don't know Sparrow how to feel about this. I'm actually not too confident in my body in this. Also how did you know my name if I never told you who I was?".
I noticed Sparrow looking at me up & down from the movement of the helmet. I don't mind him checking me but only if I felt confident in myself, I wanted to cover myself but I didn't. Sparrow responded back "Oh you're friend Jess was telling me about you. She was concerned for you too. She has a good way of describing people you know. Besides, the costume really brings out everything I like in a strong and confident young superhero girl. Anyways let's get going". I could feel myself blushing, not sure if it's because Jess can describe me very well or that Sparrow was really complimenting me. We started running back towards the scene of the crime. I thought to myself 'Now that I have this power I can use this to get revenge on Chloe. I know I promised Sparrow I would protect the citizens and the city but what happened to me was traumatizing. I could have lost my life. For now I have to make Sparrow trust me with this power'.
Now this one is the longest I've done writing. I know I can take a break and come back to writing stories but I'm trying to write a chapter a day so I can finish my fanfic writings. For this story I might do 9 or 10 chapters. Maybe less who knows. Anyways I wouldn't want to continue a series with long chapter stories.
Yes Sparrow doesn't believe in vengeance because she was raised differently. I felt that I pushed the romance between Jess/Mari a bit fast but like I said I didn't want to write about their adventures everyday especially in school. I know I'm making Mari become vengeful but don't worry Sparrow won't let that happen. The weapons Sparrow I gave to him which is Escrima Sticks that Nighwing uses. I know I refer to Sparrow as a he for his identity but that's to cover her true identity. When she becomes Eagle then she is known as a she cause they can tell it's a girl and is using her real voice.
I'll continue finishing this story this week hopefully because I want to start on the Fei X Marinette the most. I know I can do both but when my mind is in place on one story it helps me write better because I wouldn't want to mix up the stories.
