Uh-oh. It was Patrick's ex, Lucy.

"Because he invited me," was Riley's answer.

"And why exactly is that, Patrick?" Lucy growled.

"She's better than you are. We're no longer a couple. Why can't you accept that?" Patrick demanded.

"I thought you were just joking. I guess I was wrong."

"Well, I hope you realize he's serious now," Riley interjected.

"And who do you think you are, waltzing in here dressed like the prom queen? It's not something you get to decide for yourself, it's for the rest of the guests to decide."

"That was Patrick's idea, not mine," Riley argued. "And I'm very glad he had that idea."

"Well, then I'm telling the principal on both of you. I'm sure there's some rule against crowning yourself queen of the prom."

"Go ahead, tell," Patrick said. "See if he cares. See if anyone cares."

Lucy stormed off.

"She's wrong about that being a rule...isn't she?" Riley asked nervously.

"Don't let her get to you," Patrick reassured. "No matter what happens, I'm going to make sure you return home with the biggest smile you have ever smiled."

Fear was now visibly shaking. Joy kept things moving forward.

"If she's right, our night is over," Sadness predicted.
