Roman, rising star of the football team, model and Virgil's ex was coming closer, destined to take care of the troublemakers.

"This is a party not a boxing arena, so stop it or I will call the police." With every second that ran by Virgil's heart pounded faster and faster in his chest. His approching footsteps echoing through the room.

Move dammit! He´s getting closer!

The voice in his head screamed at him but he couldn't move, he was frozen in place, like a deer in the headlights of a car. Flashbacks of all the escalated fights they had, were flowding in and out of Virgil's mind.

Run, for christ sake. Run!

Roman stopped just a few feet away from them, close enough to notice Virgil in the dim light.

"Virgil? Is that you?"

Fuck, ok, breathe. Don't hide yourself, keep your chin up and look the devil straight into his face. Don't show him your weak.

Virgil took a deep breath before he turned around, looking straight at Roman, who was actually relieved and happy upon seeing him, but it was different than Janus's relief. Virgil noticed the guilt in Roman's expression. He didn't care. Virgil could never forgive him for what he had done.

Roman smiled. "Oh my god it is you. I'm so happy to see you", he said and took a step forward, pausing as Virgil stepped back, fists clenched at his side. Romans eyes dropped down in disapointment and he drew a hand through his hair.

"Guess you're not so happy about seeing me, are you?" Virgil just looked at him not saying a single word.

"Well, thats okay. I just hope we can talk about it. Talk about us, I mean." Roman waited for a response but nothing. Virgil just looked at him, with clear eyes, concentrating on how to breath, holding his chin up.

"Look, I'm so sorry. I know I should have reached out to you sooner" Roman paused for a second.

"But I was afraid to face you, after everything that happend between us. I'm a coward and it´s okay if you hate me. I know I will hate myself for the rest of my life. But you have to know that I've changed. I'm working on myself - I'm in therapy." Still nothing. Virgil could tell by Roman's eyes that he was getting frustrated.

"Look, all I'm asking is a chance to talk to you. Please. I promise I won't hurt you anymore."

Virgils strentgh faded, he looked away and closed his eyes for a second. He crossed his Arms over his chest. He hated the pleading look on Romans face, hated the guilt in his voice. Virgil knew to damn well how much value Romans apologieze had. They were nothing but broken promises.

Breathing in deeply to control his heartrate and to steady his voice he said:"Y-you used me as an excuse for all of your problems. Everytime you were angry or stressed...you let everything out on me." Virgil paused, slallowing the pain away. "...you made me feel like I was never good enough for you. You destroyed our friendship...our love. You destroyed me and left me alone, bleeding. You have no idea how I feel about you right now."

It took all of his strentgh not to collapse infront of Roman. His hands were shaking, his whole body was shaking. His throat felt sour with emotions, but he kept his feed steady on the ground, breathed in one more time, before he continued a bit more confident then before.

"I...can't hate you, but what you've done to me, is unforgivable." With that he turned around, grabing Remus by his hand, ready to leave this goddamn party behind them, as fast as they could.

"Wait!" Roman tried to hold on to Virgil's wrist but he slapped his hand away.

Suddenly and without any word Remus stepped before Virgil in a protectiv manner. Breaking the line of view between Virgil and Roman. Virgil still held on to Remus's hand. He felt the pain growing behind his eyes. The music was now a slashhammer drilling in his head. He wanted to get out of there, now.

Roman blincked at Remus, frowning deeply at the intruder, before he took a step back, straightening down his football jacket and fixing his hair.

"You know how rude it is to interupt somebody's conversation?" Roman spoke with that natural cockiness in his voice that Remus couldn't help himself but laugh at him, causing Roman's eyes to burn in furry.

'No no no no.' Virgil looked at him in disbelive, like he just wet snot sneezed at a celebrity and was rubbing it into their face for good measure. Then he looked at Roman, who was clenching his fists, straining in the urge to hit Remus.

"What? Did I say something fu-"

"Oh my fucking christ on a stick, stop hahahah. Your so pathetic, like how you think you might deserve the right to talk to Virgil even just for a second. Haha, it's hillarious!" Remus laughted before taking a long and deep breath.

Then all over the sudden his expression became ice cold as he stepped closer to Roman.

"Stay the fuck away from him!" Remus growled. Roman starred at him in disbelieve. "Out of my way, freak. This is non of your buisness. This is only between Virgil and me."

Remus suddenly ripped himself of Virgils hand and grabbed Roman by his collar, slamming him against the nearest wall.

"Listen, asshole. It became my buisness, when you decided to turn your hand against my best friend and left him to rot in the hospital, you son of a bitch. So leave him alone or I will do far worst things to you then you could ever imagine. Understand?" Remus spoke through clenched teeth, growling at him like a wild animal. Virgil just stood there, not knowing what to do.

They starred eachother down with pure anger. After what had felt like hours, Roman nodded reluctantly so Remus let him go. As he turned around, he grapped Virgil by the hand and took off, pulling him along.

Virgil threw a quick glanze back to make sure Roman didn't follow them. He didn't but Virgils heart jumped at the furry he saw in Roman's eyes.

They left the livingroom and backyard behind them, following the hallway down towards the frontdoor. Now that Virgil couldn't see Roman anymore, all the little bravery he had felt facing his ex-boyfriend, left him leading into a full panic attack. He couldn't breath anymore, his heart raced in his ears and his head felt liked it would explode any second.

"Remus, stop. I can´t...". His voice was only a whisper, but Remus stopped.

They were almost passed the kitchen, almost outside, but Virgil couldn't move anymore. So instead of leaving hell behind them, Remus half carried half dragged him to the kitchen and down the stairs to the basement.

Down there it was quiet, no music, only dim light and quiet chatting. There were only ten other people down here and the basement itself was quiet spacecious. The room was filled with decorative carpets and paintings on the walls. Pillows, beanbags and couches in different shapes and sizes coverd every inch of the floor and along the walls.

The folks down here were mostly high as shit without a single care for the world or just sleeping because they were too drunk to do anything. Remus let Virgil curl up on one of the couches, while sitting down in front of him.

"You're okay?" he asked turning his full attention on Virgil.

Virgil shook his head. His mind was racing like never before. His head was spinning and the room started to do the same.

"Alright, just breath with me, okay? Try to concentrade on my voice. You´re here with me, your best friend. You´re safe, now." Remus said, but Virgil couldn't hear him.

His stomach churned and in the next second he threw up everthing he had in him, clenching his hands over his stomach, before passing out.

"Virgil!?" Remus shriked.
