A usual bright, sunny day casted over Beach City, a popular tourist attraction for citizens around the U.S. It was the normal for the beach, as people visited the many attractions in the city. If people wanted a quick snack, they'd go to Lars and Sadie at The Big Donut, if you wanted lunch you could go down to Fish Stew Pizza, the Pizza Family's pride and joy. That's not to say there wasn't competition, Mr. Fryman's Beach Citywalk Fries posed a serious threat to Mr. Pizza's restaurant.

There was so much to explore in this paradise of a city. The boardwalk, movie theater, Beach City Funland (owned by Mr. Smiley), The Crab Shack, Danny's (candy store), and so much more. And Steven Universe loved all of it. Steven, while a strange boy with an unusual upbringing, was full of kindness and in love with life. He loved his city, the people in the city, and even just watching the beach from his home. He didn't have many friends but that was okay, he was having so much fun!

Steven lived with his father for the majority of his life but today was a big day. He was going to be moving in with his few friends, Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl. He didn't see them much but he always had a lot of fun with them. Especially Amethyst, who always found something fun to do, even if it got them in trouble. Steven and his father, Greg, were in their van, listening to some tunes before Steven stopped the radio and put his Dad's music in the CD player. Greg quickly became embarrassed and turned the volume down. "Oh come on Dad! Your music's awesome!", Steven said, laughing his head off. "I know but it feels weird listening to my own music.", Greg nervously said, gaining more laughter from his son.

"That's fair.", Steven said, still smiling happily as his laughter ceased. Steven still hummed his Dad's song, getting a smile from Greg. 'I know I'm not that tall, I know I'm not that smart...but let me drive my van into your HEART! Let me drive my van into your HEART!', Steven hummed as they took a turn. The two arrived on the beach at Steven's newly built house. "Well, this is it kiddo. I'm going to miss you around the house but whatever makes you happy. Be careful.", Greg sadly said, before Steven pulled him into a hug.

"Don't worry Dad. I have the gems to watch over me. I'll miss you too but we're not far away. Just up the street.", Steven said, breaking the hug. Greg sighed and said, "You're right, son. Please come and visit. Things will get lonely without you there."

"Don't worry Dad. I promise.", Steven replied, as he and Greg shared another hug. Steven broke the hug and ran off to the house. "Bye Dad!", Steven called back, waving his hand. "Bye son! Call me!", Greg called back, sadly looking down. 'He grew up so fast. No don't say that Greg. Steven's only five minutes away from you. He'll be fine with the gems. They love him. Just be careful Steven.'", Greg thought to himself, before getting in the van and driving off.

Steven walked up to the house, breathed in, breathed out, and knocked on the door. He heard a loud bang and some bickering before a stressed, "IT'S HIM!". Steven awkwardly waited for someone to open the door before Pearl finally opened it. "Steven! You're here pretty early."

"Oh sorry, I didn't know you guys were busy.", Steven regretfully said, walking in. "Yo, Stevo! What's up man?!", Amethyst excitedly greeted him, making Steven chuckle as he gave her a high five. Garnet finally walked up and said, "We're glad you're here.", with a smile. "Me too.", Steven replied with a smile, before realizing the terrible mess in the kitchen.

"What happened here?", the teenage boy asked, scanning the messy kitchen. There was cake batter all over the walls, messy dishes in the sink, a cake that was falling apart with frosting that looked like it had been spread by a five year old, and the Crystal Gems' clothes were dirty. "We were trying to bake a cake for you since it was your first day officially living with us.", Amethyst explained, getting an elbow from Pearl.

"What?!", Amethyst asked, clearly annoyed. "It was a surprise!", Pearl replied, getting irritated. "Well maybe if you hadn't screwed everything up with the mixer none of this would've happened!", Amethyst yelled back. "Well if you had been paying attention to the last 3 cakes we put in the oven, THEY WOULDN'T HAVE BURNED!", Pearl retorted, as the two got in each other's face.

Meanwhile, Steven and Garnet were in the kitchen, Steven actually trying the cake that they had made recently. "Mm. Not bad you guys. Great job.", Steven complimented, getting a smile from them all. "Really?", Pearl asked, smiling wide. "Yeah! This cake is awesome!", Steven said, taking another bite. "It's the least we can do.", Garnet said, taking Steven's finished plate and putting it in the sink.

Steven burped out loud, gaining a loud laugh from Amethyst and a look of disgust from Pearl. Steven also joined Amethyst in laughing his head off, causing Pearl to reprimand him. "Steven, don't do that! It's unsanitary!", Pearl scolded, as the two continued to laugh. "Oh lighten up P! Learn to have some fun once in a while.", Amethyst said, still laughing. Pearl ignored this as Steven and Amethyst's laughing ceased.

"So Amethyst, what fun are we having today?", Steven excitedly asked. Amethyst quickly looked at Garnet, who took this as her que. "Steven, there's something we need to talk about.", Garnet said, gaining Steven's attention.

"What is it?", Steven asked, looking at his friends. "Since you're of age now to where your father is okay with this, you'll be joining us on our missions now.", Garnet explained, as the teenage boy smiled wide. "Really?! Does this mean I'm a Crystal Gem?", Steven excitedly asked, impatiently awaiting an answer. "Yes. Welcome aboard.", Garnet answered with a smile.

"WOOHOO!", Steven celebrated. "Now Steven. On these missions you are to stay close to us at all times. We don't want you wondering around and getting hurt.", Pearl explained, getting a groan from Amethyst. "Just lighten up Pearl. Steven can take care of himself. He's not a baby! What are you, 13?", Amethyst said.

"14.", Steven corrected. "See! Steven's perfectly capable of taking care of himself.", Amethyst added. "I just want Steven to be safe, that's all. He doesn't know the danger of those gems.", Pearl said, looking at Steven softly. "I'll be okay Pearl, I promise.", Steven said, shooting Pearl a thumbs up. Pearl was still unsure however. But, she nodded anyway.

"So what are we doing today?", Steven asked, gaining smiles from everyone. "Whatever you want Steven.", Garnet answered, Amethyst and Pearl nodding in agreement. "Sweet. First, we'll go to the Big Donut, then we'll go to the Fish Stew Pizza-", Steven explained, before being cut off.

"I must express my dislike for the pizza there.", Amethyst said in disgust, getting a glare from Pearl. "Amethyst!", Pearl reprimanded. "It's okay Pearl, really. Then we'll go to Funland and finally the boardwalk, where we watch the sunset and head home.", Steven explained, getting smiles from his friends. "This day is gonna be amazing!"

"Let's hope.", Pearl said. "Now c'mon! Let's go to the Big Donut!", Steven ordered, as the gems followed his lead out the door.

A few minutes later, Steven and the Crystal Gems walked into the Big Donut. "Oh hey Steven. Seems like you've brought your entourage.", Sadie jokingly said to the teenager, who chuckled at the joke. Pearl looked at the menu and frowned. "Gross. I'm not eating any of this.", Pearl remarked, getting a chuckle from the others. "Come on P! Eating is great! And it comes out the other end!", Amethyst excitedly said, grossing Pearl out even more. "That's the worst part.", Pearl said, shuddering.

Lars began sweeping around the store until he saw Steven pacing around. "Steven, if you're looking for those Cookie Cats they're over there.", Lars said, pointing to a counter on the other side of the store. "Did you guys move it?", Steven asked, to which Sadie answered. "Yeah, only for organizational reasons. No one wants potato chips right next to Cookie Cats.", Sadie explained. "Fair.", Steven said, heading over in the direction Lars pointed to.

Amethyst walked up to Sadie, getting the girl's attention. "What would you guys recommend the most? My friend here is having a hard time picking something.", Amethyst explained, trying desperately not to laugh while pointing at Pearl. "I don't want anything!", Pearl angrily called to Amethyst. "Okay, okay!!", Amethyst replied, still chuckling.

Steven continued to look around for his beloved Cookie Cats. He finally got to the fridge and he sighed in relief. However, there was nothing there. "What? Where're the Cookie Cats? Did someone take them all?", Steven asked, opening and closing the fridge as if they would magically appear.

Steven hurried over to Lars. "Lars! Lars! There are no more Cookie Cats! What do we do?!", Steven frantically asked. Lars looked at Steven and got back to what he was doing. Steven groaned. He then went to Sadie. "Sadie, what happened to the Cookie Cats?", Steven asked, fearing the worst.

"Huh? I thought they were over there. Maybe someone just took them all.", Sadie responded, shrugging her shoulders. "No. NOOOOO", Steven yelled, before being interrupted by Pearl.

"Steven! Don't yell like that!", Pearl exclaimed. Steven sighed before being startled by Amethyst. "Two donuts! To go!", Amethyst said, smiling like there were cookies on the way.

Lars sighed and said, "Here. Enjoy your day blah blah blah. Just get out of here." The Crystal Gems exited the Big Donut. "I can't believe they have no more Cookie Cats! I'll bet someone stole them.", Steven angrily said.

"Who could possibly get away with that without getting caught? That isn't likely, especially with those cameras everyone has nowadays.", Pearl replied, getting a nod of agreement from Garnet. "It's just ice cream Steven.", Garnet added.

Amethyst, chewing on her donut, said, "Besides! I got you a donut!", before handing Steven the bag. Steven took it and started to eat it before saying, "I guess I can't let ice cream ruin my day. Let's go to our next location, Fish Stew Pizza!", Steven said, getting a sigh from Amethyst.

The group walked in to this restaurant to see it was mostly empty. There was someone in a corner who stared at Steven. Steven, nervously tried to look away, before the person stopped looking at him. "Yo, Steven. You okay?", Amethyst asked, the taller boy responding with, "Someone was just looking at me. Kinda strange."

"Was it like a weird look?", Amethyst asked again. "Yeah, maybe we should go talk to them.", Steven replied, smiling now. "Steven, no. Don't go talking to random strangers. Stay right here.", Pearl said sternly. Steven sighed before Amethyst said, "For once, Pearl's kinda right on this one. You don't know if that guy's dangerous or not."

"Fair point."

Steven continues to eye this person, even after he orders his food. "Steven, is that person bothering you?", Garnet asked. "I mean, they're just sitting over there, doing nothing. I don't know if they're lonely or dangerous.", Steven answered.

"They're not a threat. And won't be a threat.", Garnet said, flashing a smile. Steven smiled back before their food arrived. "Here you go Steven. One fish pizza!", the waitress, Kiki, said, putting Steven's food on the table. "Thanks Kiki!", Steven said, getting a smile out of the waitress. After Kiki had walked away, Amethyst spoke up. "I don't know how you could eat that!"

"I don't know how you could eat at all Amethyst.", Pearl added, getting a chuckle from Steven. "What's your opinion on food Garnet?", Steven asked, as all eyes were now on Garnet. "Uhh, it's alright I guess. Fascinating stuff!", Garnet replied, getting a laugh out of everyone. "Sure you don't want any of this Amethyst?", Steven joked.

"Yes, absolutely sure.", Amethyst replied. "What's wrong with it?", Steven asked, gaining a chuckle out of Amethyst. "Okay for one that combination makes no sense. Two, it tastes terrible. And three, I feel no quality control around here. You want me to keep coming here to eat junk?", Amethyst explained, getting a laugh from Steven. "Okay fair. It tastes good to me.", Steven said, before noticing the mysterious person get up. "Time to go?", Pearl sarcastically asked, with a smile on her face. "Yup time to go!", Steven said, before getting up and dashing out the door.

When Steven looked around, the person was gone. "Ugh. We lost them again.", Steven complained. "Quit worrying Steven! We can have plenty fun around here. Look it's Ronaldo! He always has some crazy story to tell!", Amethyst said, running over to the young adult. "Ronaldo! Hey!", Amethyst called, getting Ronaldo's attention.

"WAH! Oh Amethyst, it's just you.", Ronaldo said, startled. "Got anymore crazy stories to tell?", Steven asked. "Yeah, like you guys fighting this monster!", Ronaldo said, showing his phone. The phone showed Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl fighting a gem that looked like a monster. "Clearly fake.", Pearl scoffed. "Are you sure Ronaldo?", Steven asked. "YES! I saw it with my own eyes! You have to believe me!", Ronaldo frantically said. "Riiight. See ya later Ronaldo!", Amethyst said, before she and the Crystal Gems walked off. "Wait! Subscribe to Keep Beach City Weird!", Ronald begged as the walked away.

"Ronaldo's strange.", Steven pointed out. "Says the one that cried about snakes!", Amethyst retorted, gaining a chuckle from Pearl and Garnet. "That was a long time ago and they don't have any arms! That's not fair!", Steven replied, making the other gems laugh. "Anyway, let's get going to Funland. The day won't last forever.", Steven said, getting a nod of agreement from his friends. The group walked into the arcade and began playing. Pearl wasn't exactly sure what to play. "Hmm.", Pearl thought before looking over to Garnet. Garnet was playing a game that involved killing enemies with a hammer. Pearl glanced over to Amethyst who was with Steven. Steven noticed Pearl looking at them and walked over to her. "Having trouble finding anything to play?", Steven asked. "Yes", Pearl muttered, getting a laugh from Amethyst. "This place is huge! And packed. You can find something to play here. You want to come with us?", Steven asked, pointing to where Steven and Amethyst were a second ago. "Well I...sure!", Pearl slowly said, before Steven took her hand.

Steven, Pearl, and Amethyst stopped at a game where you roll a ball. "Okay so here's what you do. You take one of these balls, and you roll them into the whole. You see those numbers? That's how many points you get for each hole.", Steven explained, getting an "ohh" from Pearl. "Got that Amethyst?", Steven asked, before noticing what the purple gem was doing. Amethyst was on the machine, basically cheating as she just threw balls into the highest point total and got tons of tickets. "Take this as a new skill my pupil!", Amethyst said to Steven, getting a smile out of Steven.

"You know what, just follow Amethyst's lead.", Steven said, pulling Pearl over to one machine. "So like this?", Pearl asked after throwing a ball into the highest total. "Yeah! You the man P!", Amethyst yelled. Steven began to as he and Amethyst began laughing with joy. The laughter was infectious as Pearl began laughing too. They racked up hundreds of tickets within seconds. They would've kept it going. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?", Mr. Smiley boomed. "And now, it's time to go.", Amethyst said, before she and her friends zoomed out. "Garnet! Time to go!", Steven yelled to his friend, right before Garnet out maneuvered a few kids and swiftly made it out.

The trio, Amethyst, Steven, and Pearl, were laughing the whole time, hundreds of tickets in hand. "You guys sound like you had a good time.", Garnet pointed out. "Totally! Look at these tickets! How many did you get Garnet?", Amethyst asked. Garnet revealed thousands of tickets, surpassing all of the Crystal Gems. "WHOAA! Guys we totally have to come back and cash all of our tickets in. We could something really special!", Steven said, getting smiles from everyone. "Yeah! Like a trampoline!", Amethyst suggested.

"Or a piano!", Pearl added.

"Sunglasses!", Garnet yelled.

"Or that MCBearBear plush I saw in there.", Steven said, pointing back to the store. Everyone else disagreed. "You can't be serious.", Pearl said, followed by Amethyst's, "BORING!". "Let's worry about this another time, then we can pick something we all want.", Garnet explained, getting now of agreement. "Well, we're almost at the boardwalk. Now let's finish this day off with-", Steven said, before being cut off. Steven had finally ran into the mysterious person. "You! That person that keeps watching me! I finally caught you!", Steven said, diving on the person. The person yelped before dodging. The mystery girl, Steven now knew from the yelp, was on the run. "Wait stop! I just want to talk to you!", Steven said, running after the girl.

The girl continued to evade Steven's attempts to grab her. Soon she was cornered. "Come on. I won't hurt you. I just want to talk to you.", Steven said, looking the girl in the eye. The girl tried to run again, before being caught in Amethyst's whip. "Amethyst! Don't use your weapons on humans!", Pearl scolded. The girl was still trapped however.

Steven went over and removed her hat and black jacket. The girl fell to the floor and with that, an entire lifetime supply of Cookie Cats."Cookie Cats?! I knew there was a Cookie Cat thief!", Steven said, getting angry. "Wait, Steven! I didn't steal them. I bought them.", The girl said, before covering her mouth. "Wait, how did you know my name? I don't know you.", Steven said, making the girl blush madly. "I-uhh.", the girl stuttered, her blush growing.

Steven walked over to the girl and picked up one of the Cookie Cats. "Why did you buy all of these?", Steven asked, pointing to the Cookie Cat in his hand. "I bought them...for you.", the girl said, still blushing madly. The girl now had a bashful smile on her face and said, "I knew you liked them and they were going out of business so, I got them all for you. I tried to give them to you but I couldn't muster up the courage to talk to you. Now I made a fool of myself.", The girl said, her smile disappearing. She put her head in her hands and began sobbing quietly. The gems looked at each other. Steven walked over to her and freed her from Amethyst's whip.

"Hey, don't cry! We can be friends if you want! I'm Steven, what's your name?", Steven kindly asked. "Connie. My name is Connie.", Connie replied. "We can share all of these. I really appreciate you doing this for me. I'd love to be friends with you.", Steven said, handing her a cookie cat and sitting next to her. "You do?", Connie asked, her smile and blush growing. "Totally.", Steven said, as the two began eating the Cookie Cats. "Steven, be back at the house when it gets dark.", Pearl said. "You got it.", Steven replied, as the gems walked away.

The two finished eating their Cookie Cats, not really saying much. "It was nice meeting you Connie. We can hang out tomorrow if you like.", Steven said, helping her up. "Really? I'd really like that.", Connie said, blushing again. "Well, see ya later, Connie.", Steven said, walking away. Connie waved her new friend off, taking the Cookie Cats with her.

Steven watched the sunset on his new home. The gems walked up behind him. "So, you got a girlfriend?", Amethyst asked, confusing Steven. "Guess you could say that. Connie's my friend.", Steven answered. "No Steven! It's- ugh never-mind.", Amethyst replied. "Today was a good day.", Steven said, as the sky turned dark. "Yeah, I suppose it was.", Pearl said, as the Crystal Gems watched a shooting star fly through the air, signaling a new beginning.
