CHAPTER THREE

"Whoa." I whispered in amazement as a blue glowing liquid filled the circle and burst outward like a cloud of water before drawing itself back in and remaining a circle of glowing blue liquid. I was startled when everyone started clapping but in the spirit of joy that was filling the room I let out a loud two finger whistle and a couple people joined in as the first machine on the ramp rolled through the Stargate.

"Alright people, let's go! Security teams one and two, you're up first." The annoying older soldier guy called out as he started up the ramp.

"All other personnel will follow on our signal. Once on the other side, keep moving and clear the debarkation area. On my lead." He continued hollering as he got closer to the Stargate.

"You ready sis?" John asked me quietly as he gave my hand a final squeeze before letting it go as he checked his weapon again.

"Totally, although if I end up with a green alien/octopus man as my soul-bond I will torture you for the rest of your existence." I replied jokingly as I adjusted both of my backpacks on my shoulders before carefully leaning down to pick up the two full duffel bags that I had put down as soon as I reached John.

"That's fair." John replied as we exchanged smiles before turning our attention to the Stargate. John walked up the ramp as he was part of the second security team who would go in before the rest of us.

"Expedition team. Move out." General O'Neils voice said over the loudspeaker behind us. I watched John and the other army boys go through and as soon as the last armed soldier went through I didn't hesitate to immediately walk up the ramp. I stopped for a second to gaze at the glowing blue liquid in amazement before stepping through.

And suddenly I was there, wherever there was, I felt a chill in my body that began to dissipate as I stepped fully out of the blue liquid and walked further into the room to clear the Stargate area before I began to take in the huge room around the Stargate.

"The legendary lost city of Atlantis….I am so glad I brought both of those dvds." I muttered to myself with a grin thinking of the animated 'Atlantis' movies from Disney when a faint chill ran down my spine causing me to suspiciously study the area around me for whoever was watching me.

Not seeing anyone I walked over to an empty corner of the room and placed my things down on the ground knowing they would be out of everyone's way and easier to avoid for all of the people to come all the while keeping an eye out for whoever had tripped my 'spidey-senses' as John teasingly named them.

As more and more people stepped through the gate I shook off the feeling as jitters from being off-world for the first time in my life and began to explore one of the hallways that was already lit up letting me know the security team had more than likely already been down that way.

Taking my time I took everything in as I walked further into the building. I almost missed a hallway that was still dark which meant that the security team most likely hadn't cleared it which meant that I should probably avoid it but… glancing around I saw I was alone and I began to walk down it. The lights came on as I continued down the hall and took several turns until I came to a stop in-front of a large glass window and immediately the breath caught in my throat.

"We're underwater.." I whispered in disbelief as I looked out at the large clear ocean that was surrounding the place. Glancing upwards I could make out what appeared to be sunlight piercing the surface of the water.

*I've got to tell John.* I thought, turning around and hurrying back the way I came.

Navigation was not my strong suit especially in buildings and as I turned yet another random corner I almost slammed head first into a wall. Reaching out just in time to keep my head safe I saw the wall light up underneath my hands and felt a pinch on one of my fingers. Then the wall opened up causing me to pitch head-first into darkness and the last thought I had felt disturbingly not like my thought at all,

*Finally, you've come.*

"...andy...Randy, can you hear me?" Doctor Weir's voice spoke starting from a distance and then growing louder as my vision began to return causing the world around me to regain color and sound just as knowledge flooded into my mind and I immediately started for the power control system just above the gate room.

"I'm fine Doctor Weir, whoever she was, she was friendly and she gave me the knowledge of what to do. I'm going to raise the city." I replied, focusing down on the Ancient keyboard and computer screen in-front of me.

Pushing in the correct orders I paused before sending off the command and turned my head to see Doctor Weir gazing at me worriedly.

"You might want to tell everyone to hold onto something." I said, causing her to give me a measuring stare before she nodded and gave the order over the comm's.

I waited only a few seconds for everyone to grab something before I pushed the send button and the city of Atlantis once again began to rise. I could feel the city shuddering as it was propelled upwards from the ocean floor and I felt a sense of excitement but somehow I knew it wasn't all mine.

*You're still here aren't you? You're still in my mind.* I thought to the female Ancient who had possessed my body in order to speak to Doctor Weir before she had given mental control of it back to me.

*Yes I am. I have no malicious intent and I will only remain for as long as I am needed.* A strange voice replied, echoing slightly in my head.

Trying to shove away the weirdness I felt at having another person in my brain as telepathy was one of few mutant abilities from the X-Men comics that I hated, I came back to the present when I heard loud joyous cries and clapping.

"You did it Randy. You raised Atlantis." Doctor Weir said joyfully from beside me, causing me to realize I needed to let go of the control board that I had been gripping so hard I now felt my fingers begin to ache.

"Yes well, I had help." I replied with a smile before leaving the control room as quickly and as quietly as possible when someone else began to talk to Doctor Weir. Hurrying over to the corner where I had put my things I decided I may as well take a minute to talk to the new woman in my head.

*So you're just going to constantly keep me company up here?* I mentally asked.

*You are uncomfortable with that thought.* She replied, sounding curious.

*Extremely. Look I don't mean to be rude since you did help us out of something that could have been deadly but I don't want someone continuously in my head, knowing my thoughts, talking to me, seeing what I see etcetera. It will literally drive me insane.* I replied, finally picking up my duffel bags and backpacks.

*I see. You will need my help both in the immediate and far future, until then I will give you some immediate information about this city as well as my name and then leave. Think my name when you want me and I will come whenever I know I will be needed. Is this agreed to?* She asked after a few minutes as I walked down the corridors instinctively knowing where a nice room was for me to stay.

Frankly I was surprised that she was willing to leave and even more surprised that she was willing to help me in the future so I nodded as I opened the door to what would be my room,

*Okay, sounds good.* I replied.

A strange name appeared in my minds-eye and then I felt her disappear from my mind, it was like a pressure in my head was suddenly gone. Trying to shake off the weirdness I put my things on the dusty bed and made my way back to the control room just in time to hear someone holler out,

"We've got an incoming wormhole!"
