They got to the gates of Alexandria where DJ asked to speak to Michonne. "Rosi can you get Michonne?"
"Yeah, who is this?" Rosita asked.
"Hopefully a newcomer to our community"DJ smiled hopeful.
Rosi walked off and came back with Michonne.
"DJ, Scott who is this?" Michonne asked.
"This is Erica. She wants to join our community"DJ asked.
"No" Michonne stated firmly. And then walked away. DJ ran to catch up with her whilst Scott stayed at the gates with Erica.
"Don't worry DJ will work his magic" Scott twinkled his eye.
"He's a nice guy" Erica smiled.
"The best" Scott replied.
Meanwhile, DJ caught up to Michonne "Michonne! Please!".
"We can't trust her" Michonne said.
"Yes we can" DJ said.
"How do you know she isn't one of those skins?" She asked.
"Because I just know she isn't" he pleaded.
"Well I thought Jocelyne was my friend but look what she did to me!" Michonne exclaimed.
"Erica isn't the same. She had to put her father down and has been out there surviving alone since. She needs help"DJ said.
"You're not god DJ, you don't need to save everyone" Michonne said.
"I just know she is a good person" DJ said.
Michonne trusted DJ with her life, with her family. Maybe she needed to listen to him. Maybe he was right about this woman.
Michonne gave it some thought and then said "Ok, let's talk to her".
"Thanks Michonne" he said as they both walked back to the gates.
Michonne approached Erica and said "Come with me".
Erica followed behind Michonne as they walked to an office leaving a hopeful DJ.
"What?" DJ asked a sniggering Scott.
"You like her, that's why you want her here so badly" Scott said.
"No, it's not like that" DJ said.
"Of course" Scott said sarcastically.
Back in the office Michonne told Erica to sit down.
"I'm not a bad person" Erica said with tears down her face.
"Tell me your story" Michonne said.
Erica then began "It had just been me and my dad for years since my mother died from cancer. She died then a year later this all happened so me and my dad we left our home and tried to find sanctuary where we would be safe. We had several different homes but none we could ever call home truly so we decided to go it alone and try to survive on our own. We did well for a while until me and my dad were attacked one day. He was bit and I had to kill him. I then went off on my own but it's been months and I can barely find enough food or shelter.".
"DJ clearly cares for you, and he is one of my loyalest men so if he says you can be trusted then you can be" Michonne said then smiling.
Erica gave Michonne a big hug and said "thanks! Oh thanks! I will do anything you need as I want to earn my keep".
"I'm sure we will find you something to do here" Michonne said "Now go tell DJ!".
Erica ran out and back to the gate "im staying!"
DJ smiled and enveloped her in a hug. "I knew you would".
