Chapter 3

A gasp came from Nya as she woke up from a terrifying nightmare. She looked at her surroundings to see she was still in the living room, realizing that she must have fallen asleep while watching the new episode of The Battle of Crowns. She will admit that the episode was actually not that great. They really should have ended the show last year.

But that was the last thing on her mind. The nightmare she witnessed was so horrifyingly scary she didn't even want to talk about it to anyone except herself.

I recall Cole was about to ask me to list every worst case scenario Jay could easily get himself into. I wasn't in the mood to tell him then so I basically let it traverse into my nightmares. Oh, I should've just said something about it. I wouldn't be in this state right now if I did.

Nya couldn't control her shudders of fear and the sweat running down her face. Looking at the clock above the television, it read 11:30 P.M. Nightmares must fly in and out pretty fast.

She heard loud breathing right beside her. She spotted Carol sitting next to her, sleeping soundly and snoring like there was no tomorrow. Looks like she also saw the episode boring and fell asleep during the show. Helping to make sure her friend didn't get cold, Nya took the blanket they kept on the back of the couch and placed it over her friend.

Turning off the TV that was showing a rerun of a previous Battle of Crowns episode, she went down the dark halls of the monastery where all the bedrooms were located. She wondered if Cole ever returned from his mission. Checking his room, she looked at the empty bed sitting in the center.

That's strange. He should've been back here by now. Maybe Jay's back home. At least I hope he is. I'll be a little less worried if he's finally back. Then I'll drill him in the morning on where he's been.

She went to check inside Jay's room, only to find it empty. Looks like Jay never returned home, either.

Okay, something's not right. It's almost midnight and neither Cole nor Jay is back. Something's wrong. Really wrong. And I need to figure out what's going on.

Grabbing a flashlight as to not disturb any of the sleeping residents in the monastery, Nya searched around until she found the elevator. Going inside, she pressed the button to send her down to the underground control room. When she got inside, she went straight to work opening up the tracking program to try and look up Cole and Jay's whereabouts.

I don't know why I didn't think of this before. Hopefully it might work and give me a clue on where they could be. I'm so glad I placed tracking chips inside everyone's communication devices.

She had placed tracking devices in the team's wrist communicators ever since Kai had been kidnapped by the siren princess. He had his device, but it apparently didn't work without some sort of signal so he couldn't get in touch with anyone. Luckily, Nya created tracking chips that could work underwater and even in places where there was hardly no signal. Maybe this could work. All she could do is hope.

Once she pulled up Cole's tracking chip, the computer was stating he was inside some old factory building in the industrial area of Ninjago City. She couldn't help but wonder why he would be over on the other side of town when he was supposed to be in the plaza area infiltrating a crime organization that gathers around throughout various parts of the city to steal technology blueprints.

Why would he be in some old factory? Did they change the meeting in a place where nobody could suspect them? Yeah, that's probably it. Maybe they knew one of us would be there to stop their evil plans. But just to make sure, I best give him a call and hope he'll call back.

Taking out her phone, she dialed Cole's number from his communication device, waiting for him to answer back. But the voice she heard on the other line was definitely not Cole, but someone else who was all too familiar.

"Hello?" A crazy voice that could only belong to one crazy biker lady.

Ultra Violet.

"Who is this?" Nya asked, even though she knew who it was.

"Why, hello, Nya. I wasn't expecting a call from you. How has everything been? Whatcha doing up so late at night? Oh, I forgot. Heroes never sleep when there's danger lurking around every corner."

"Can it, Ultra Violet, " Nya growled, "Where are Cole and Jay? You wouldn't be answering unless you had one of their wrist communicators. What have you done to them?"

"Oh, they're both fine," Ultra Violet said, "They're sleeping for the time being. But I wouldn't come anywhere near them. What we plan to use them for is our own personal business and you better butt out of it."

"Not a chance. I'm not gonna let anything happen to them. I'm going to find them no matter what it takes. Just you wait and see, motor head."

"Ha! You don't even know where they are. How are you ever gonna find them?"

Nya already knew where her boyfriend and Cole were at, but unlike any of the boys, she was smart enough not to mention where their location was. "You're right, I don't, but that doesn't mean I won't try."

"Try as you might, but it doesn't matter what you do," Ultra Violet said, "The matrimonial ceremony will be happening soon and there's no way you'll be able to stop it in time. But I wish you good luck, anyway. And the worst of luck along with that good luck!" She laughed as she hung up on Nya.

Nya didn't even have a chance to say another word to the insane woman since all she could think about was what she just heard. Matrimonial ceremony? What the heck is Ultra Violet up to? Whatever it is, it can't be good. Now this situation has become serious. As if it already wasn't serious enough.

Nya knew it was now or never. The only thoughts running through her mind was saving Cole and Jay as she rushed out of the underground control room. But she knew she couldn't do it alone.

But who to take. Lloyd was out for the week to see his mom, Zane and Pixal were out on a mission together, and Kai was probably still out with Skylor. And she had no plans on waking up Sensei Wu. He doesn't need to be bothered. There was only one other person who could help her.

Carol.

Even though Cole's friend didn't have any skills in the way of the ninja, her unique powers as a shifter and a witch could be useful in the line of battle. Going back inside the living room, she shook the sleeping Carol until she woke up.

Carol looked around, discombobulated and bewildered by her surroundings. "Wha…I thought I was at home. Why am I still at the monastery?"

"You fell asleep while we were watching TV," Nya told her, "But never mind about that. Something bad has happened to Cole and Jay."

Carol gasped, jumping off the couch. "What happened? Where are they?" What's happened to Cole?

"Ultra Violet has them and they're being held hostage at an old factory in the industrial area of Ninjago City. We need to go and rescue them."

"What are we standing around here for? We need to go."

"Not until we can form up a plan. And I have one that might work. Now listen carefully."

So the two began a step by step plan in order to save the two men that mean more than anything else in the world to them.

Don't worry, Cole and Jay. The girls are coming for you.
