Opening up the gates of the hotel area, he snarled at seeing Hiyoko walking alone. "You." He snarled. Hiyoko jumped as he levelled a glare at her. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't a kid like you be in bed right now?"
"Hey! Prick, I'm not a kid. I'm 18, you big stupid himbo!" Hiyoko snapped back as Diego scoffed.
"Ok, brat," He said as he walked up to her, towering over her. "I'm very… and I mean, very, tempted to snap your neck right now. Don't push me." Diego snarled, making Hiyoko take a step back.
"Hey, lay off her, will ya?" This was a new voice to Diego. He glanced to his left to see a muscular man wearing a black jacket and a white shirt underneath. He had a pair of baggy blue sweats on, and his jacket was fitted with a chain. His short brown hair and tan skin made him seem rather intimidating at a distance.
"Oh?" Diego said, a smirk rising to his face. "And why should I? She insulted me. Shouldn't she get repercussions for her actions, maybe a slap in the face or a jab to the gut? No one just gets to insult someone and walk away unscathed," Diego said as he heard a whimpering sound coming from Hiyoko.
He snarled before jutting a leg out. His foot collied to the girl's chest, causing her to be pushed back into the floor. This made the man angry.
"I said. Lay off her, will ya." This time, he sounded angrier. "She's just reacting to the atmosphere of the situation. She's just as stressed out as everyone else is. You targeting her isn't going to make it any better," The man said as Diego scoffed, pressing down on her chest with his foot, making her gasp for air.
"Look, I'm one for fun and games, but when someone insults me or anyone I care for, they get beaten for it. I could easily kill her, but I won't. Let me have my moment, and then I'll gladly leave her alone, but only after I see bruises," Diego said, shadow summoning The World to lay on an intensive presence. He learned this trick from Valentine himself. If you brought your Stand out, but only their shadow, you could create a tense atmosphere, making your opponents feel helpless.
And it seemed to work as he saw small sweat beads appear on the man in front of him.
As for the man, he had never felt this kind of killing intent off of another person before. It was suffocating, almost degrading. Nekomaru Nidai was not having it, though. He wouldn't let this bully hurt Hiyoko anymore.
"I asked you nicely to leave her alone. I told you to leave her alone. Now you'll pay." Nekomaru said as Diego held up a finger.
"Ah, ah, ah! One more step, and you'll regret it. As I said, let me have my moment, and then I'll leave her alone," Diego stated, his eyes now lowering to a stern glare. But it wasn't enough to stop the raging behemoth that was Nekomaru Nidai.
"Like hell!" Nekomaru shouted as Diego sighed.
"Don't say I didn't warn you," Diego said, raising his foot up over the top of Hiyoko's face. Hiyoko went wide-eyed as the boot came closer and closer to face, only for it to stop as Diego was thrown backwards by a hard punch from Nekomaru.
"Gah!" Diego shouted as he went into the floorboards. The blond snarled as Hiyoko ran to her cabin. 'Damnit… oh well,' Diego thought as he stood up. "Well, it seems that I should've taken you seriously. Noted for next time," Diego said as Nekomaru snarled.
"Now, will you leave her alone?" Nekomaru snarled as Diego rubbed the side of his face.
"I have to say; you pack a sturdy punch. You've got my respect, Mr…?"
"Nidai… Nekomaru, Nidai. I don't want your respect, you disgusting person." The man, now introduced to Diego as Nekomaru, said as Diego smirked.
"Nidai, huh? Interesting name. I'll remember it fondly. But as for now…" Diego said, walking past the man. "I have to sleep." As Diego said this, Nekomaru growled as the horse jockey passed by him.
'How could such an evil person sleep soundly at night….' Nekomaru thought as he watched Diego enter his cabin.
When Diego entered his cabin, he had a look of annoyance on his face. His cabin was decorated with objects from the Steel Ball Run, such as a map of the race, a cabinet filled with objects that he used, like one of the earlier versions of his gun, to even a taxidermy creation of the spine that was used to give him The World.
The rest was just like Chiaki's cabin. A couch, a bed, and an odd box thing that he heard Chiaki call a 'Console.' Except the 'Console' flatter, rectangle, and had nothing attached to it. "Hmph, whatever, all I need is sleep. I'll think about my plans for tomorrow when tomorrow comes," Diego said, walking over to the bed, taking off his boots, and laying down on the comfortable mattress.
After hours passed, Diego woke up to the sound of the annoying Monokuma thing. He sat up in his bed, stretched out his arms, and stood up. He noticed that on the couch was an exact replica of his outfit with a note saying: Take a shower, you stink – Monokuma.
Diego snarled at the note before throwing it away into the trash bin near his bed. Taking the clothes, he walked into the shower room and proceeded to turn on the water. He wasn't going to lie to himself. He did stink badly. He glanced in the mirror and saw the bruise where Nekomaru punched him.
'That reminds me… I need to rope in my anger. If I let myself outburst like that again, I'll end up killing someone on accident instead of saving it for when I need to most. I've also made many enemies on this island. Nearly all of the students think I'm a monster. Good. Trust isn't needed. Not in this situation.
Trust will only get us killed.'
That was what Diego's thought process was. The more he was to trust someone, the worse it would turn out if they died. It was best not to get too attached to anyone beyond seeing them as other people.
Upon getting undressed and walking into the shower, he heard a knock at his door. He decided to ignore it and continue washing himself. The knocks got louder, and that was when Diego decided to shout. "I'M IN THE SHOWER, YOU BLOODY BITCH! FUCK OFF!" The shout was effective, causing the knocking to stop.
After another minute of cleaning himself, he turned off the shower and began to dry himself off. After doing so, he got dressed and proceeded to leave his cabin. Standing at the door was two people, one of them was Nekomaru, and the other was, surprisingly enough, Hiyoko.
"What do you want?" Diego asked, genuinely confused as Nekomaru huffed.
"Apologize," Nekomaru demanded as Diego raised an eyebrow.
"I'm sorry? If anyone should apologize, it's the blond cunt who called me an idiot and a himbo," Diego started before sighing. "But if it helps you even the slightest, I felt a slight bit of pity for stomping on you, but I'm not sorry. If you're going to insult someone, expect a reaction, either a physical one or a verbal one. Be lucky I decided to be gentle." And with that, Diego slipped past them, making Nekomaru growl.
"It's ok…." Hiyoko muttered, clutching her stomach. That was where it hurt the most. She could barely breathe for minutes on end after it finished. She had been throwing up, as well as spitting up blood for that amount of time, and she felt like she was going to die. She reluctantly went to see Mikan, the nurse, to check how bad it was after Nekomaru caught up to her. Turn's out, according to Mikan, who had a small x-ray in her room, she had internal bruising, as well as a broken rib.
"No, it's not. He should be sorry for what he did to you. Bastard. How can he even be a student at Hope's peak with that much malice in his system?" Nekomaru said as he walked away with Hiyoko.
As Diego walked to the main area, he spotted a pool. He had seen one or two of those in his life, but none of them were as big as that one. Of course, he'd seen it before, but this was the first time he got a good look at it. He saw Hajime talking to a redhead in the distance, and he also saw that kid who talked to him at the 'comedy' show and a grey-haired teen standing near him, talking to him.
'It seems that some people have others to talk to, as well as others to meet. I have no interest in making companions… even if it kills me not to do so,' Diego thought as he hummed. He noticed that a purple-haired girl with choppy hair was glancing at him every so often. She had a glint in her eyes that radiated anger, but her body language, as well as facial expression, gave off fear.
'She's hiding her true self. Interesting. Could she possibly be a Stand user? That big guy, as well as that brat, weren't, as I had blatantly summoned The World, and neither of them reacted,' Diego thought as he summoned The World to see if she would react.
Much to his intrigue, she did, her eyes widening for a second before going back to normal. 'Oh ho… this has certainly has gotten interesting.' Diego thought as he put a mental note in his head to watch the purple-haired girl. Deciding he had stuck around for too long, Diego decided to walk into the hotel/restaurant, all the while he could feel a burning glare burrow into his head. Of course, it was a metaphor, but he knew that someone had it out for him.
'I'm expecting an attempt on my life anytime now. That is, of course, what I want. I want to test myself against these teens, whether or not they are Stand users or not. I will utterly crush anyone who dares try to kill I, Diego Brando,' the blond jockey thought as he pushed open the doors.
"T-that guy back there… his n-name was Diego. H-he attacked Hiyoko… right, Nekomaru?" Mikan Tsumiki asked the tall man as he nodded, making Mikan grimace. She had an idea, but she didn't know if it'll work out properly or not. She doubted herself heavily, but if it was one thing you don't do, you don't go after people who Mikan Tsumiki sees as a friend, even if they are an asshole.
As he entered the dining area, he saw various faces—Byakuya's, a small pudgy chef-looking person, and Sonia Nevermind. Diego decided to sit by his lonesome as more and more people decided to come inside. It was then when a semi-meeting occurred.
Of course, the only thing Diego cared about was the mention of some sort of party. He tuned out the rest. He couldn't care less over petty squabbling. He kept his ear out for anything important. Otherwise, he sat back and thought about something he deemed to be more important than 'picking leaders' or 'planning parties.'
'How did I get here?' Diego thought as he thought back to what happened just before the end of the Steel Ball Run. He had fought against Johnny Joestar at the behest of the now-deceased President of the United States of America: Funny Valentine. He crossed the finish line. Then he blacked out. It seemed that it was there when his memories were erased by that annoying pink and white bunny rabbit… thing.
"Excuse me," A voice spoke to him as he glanced to his left. He saw what looked like a boy standing in front of him with a container that had some sticks in it. His hair was a shade of white with some pink highlights that tips of his very messy hair. He had on a green hoodie with weird patterns on it and a white shirt and ripped black jeans. "Could you draw one of these sticks, please?" The boy asked as Diego sighed.
"Fine." He huffed as he took out a rather short stick. "You happy?" Diego asked as the boy nodded. Then, he plucked out the last stick, it being the smallest.
"Well, it looks like I'm cleaning that building then. Damnit." The boy said as Diego raised an eyebrow. While he didn't care, to say that it was random for that boy to walk up to him and ask him to draw sticks made him curious. He supposed that the conversation was about cleaning a certain building to prepare for the stupid party.
"Mr. Brando," A voice of Byakuya Togami spoke out to him as I glanced at the now appointed leader. "The party I mentioned is of mandatory attendance. You must be there by 10 pm sharp. Do you understand?" Togami spoke with an air of importance as Diego sighed.
"I don't suppose I have a say in this, so yes, I'll be there, if begrudgingly so," Diego said as he stood up. "Now, if this meeting is over, I have some business to attend to." As he stood up, he saw that the purple-haired girl was glancing at her again. 'She knows I'm a Stand user now. Meaning she is one as well. Only Stand users and see other Stands. If she follows me with the intent to attack, I will, by any means necessary, attack her and kill her if she poses too much of a threat,' Diego thought as he walked down the stairs.
Chiaki watched as Mikan followed Diego down the stairs. She was worried about the blond. After all, he was a stranger, and he seemed to be extremely violent when provoked. She saw what he did to Hiyoko and had Nekomaru not been there. She was sure that Hiyoko would've lost her life that night.
'Diego… please don't do something irrational. I know you're scared and confused, but please…' Chiaki thought as she went to follow them, only for Hajime to place a hand on her shoulder. "I don't think it's a good idea to follow him… he… he's-"
"I know... thank you for your concern, Hajime, but I need to make sure he doesn't do anything… irritational," Chiaki stated as she walked away from Hajime, leaving him concerned and confused.
'Please… be safe, Nanami….' Hajime thought worriedly as she walked down the stairs and out of his eyesight.
Diego walked out of the hotel area and walked to the supermarket. He needed more ammunition for his gun. He didn't know if they sold it, but if they did, he would need it. Why would he need it? The reason is simple.
The night of the party, he planned to be a guard. Now, out of all the things expected, why would he be a guard? He knew, from experience, the murders happened at parties. Either during some sort of duress or a black-out. He didn't want people to die, yet, it would be too soon for someone to die. But if he had to kill someone to protect someone, he would.
He would have to talk to Byakuya, but it would be important for him to speak with the party planner/leader. After all, he needed permission to bring his gun. He didn't want to use The World unless absolutely necessary.
Stepping into the store, he walked around and found what he was looking for. Grabbing a box of .357 magnum rounds, he walked out of the store with his treasure.
Hiding behind a shelf was Mikan. The look of dread, worry, and horror on her face was unimaginable. Seeing someone, she knew to be violent walk out of a store with a box of ammo scared her to the point of wanting to piss herself.
She needed to follow him. She needed to make sure that-
BANG!
The sound of a gun firing made her jump. He was shooting something, or worse, someone. "Good, it's compatible," She heard his voice just outside of the store as she heard his footsteps walk away from the area.
'I need to… I need to tell everyone… or at least Byakuya… or anyone strong like Nekomaru… oh please, don't let him know I'm here….' As she thought this, she slowly began to leave the store. Stepping outside, she checked if anyone was around. To her luck, no one was around.
A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she ran. She ran as fast as she could. However, the issue with running and Mikan was that she tended to trip. As she ran, she kicked a rock nearby her, and as she began to fall, a purple arm extended out of her shoulder and pushed her upward from the ground.
The arm had swirl patterns dancing up and around it with pinkish armour on the lower arm with a heart symbol etched into it. It quickly faded as she stopped herself from falling. Regaining her balance, she was about to begin running again when she heard the clapping of someone behind her.
"So… I was right. You really were following me, and to top it all off, you're a Stand user." She froze, her eyes widened as she quickly turned around to see Diego sitting on a tree branch, his right leg tucked into his chest as his left leg dangled. His left arm kept his leg in place, and his right arm was drooping freely. His icy cold stare drilled holes into her as she felt her heart rate accelerate.
"So tell me, why were you following me, Mikan Tsumiki?" As Diego said that, something appeared beside him. Something that made her heart rate accelerate faster. A yellow humanoid thing appeared beside him. It wore a helmet that reminder her of a gladiator of sorts. Its yellow skin blended in completely with its armour, and on its shoulders, hands, and elbows was the English letter 'D' plastered on.
"Because if you tell me, you might walk away with your life intact."
-To Be Continued-
Dun, Dun, Dun! Cliffhanger! Haha! Get dunked on! Anyways, yes, I made Mikan a Stand user. Why? Because I have plans for her coming soon. Others also might have Stands, but I won't say who. It won't be many, but they will come into play when needed.
I already have a name for Mikan's Stand, and it will be revealed in the next chapter. Sorry for the semi-long wait, but here it is. Enjoy!
