Chapter 3

A week later Gabriel returned back to Paris and sat along with Nathalie in their car being droved home by their family's bodyguard.

„Sir, while you were talking with Mr. Bourgeois, I received a call from the private clinic at the rue d'etoile. Both teens are out of danger and are being analyzed due to the two having spent years inside the ice. As well they will inform the police about their appearance and soon as both are responsive, they will need to talk with the two,"

„Did they tell, what their future steps are after that?" Questioned the blonde man.

„Not yet. Except in case both aren't aware of who they are, then the doctors will have to say something as well," Nathalie explained.

„Keep me informed about this," Gabriel asked making his assistant nod, then their car stopped in front of their manor, and down at the entrance stood his son Adrien Agreste waiting for their arrival, then Gabriel opened the door and moved to the middle, so his son could get into it.

„Morning father. Great to see you're back," Adrien commented. „How was your trip?"

„It was business as usual my son, but some parts at least could amuse me a little," Gabriel responded. „I've heard Hawk Moth didn't akumatize anyone during the last days or was it my impression only?"

„It seems like that. I haven't seen or heard anything yet. It's uh….good for the superheroes, so they could have a break now and the citizens as well,"

„They seem to need it after what happened with Chloé the other day on her parent's celebration day," Commented Gabriel neutral earning a nod from Adrien.

„Father, after the piano practice a few days ago, I saw on TV an ambulance rescue jet land in Paris, and according to the news, you've found two people frozen. Is that true?"

„It was a strange discovery. Nathalie and I were walking together after a meeting alone... and spotted a frozen lake, where she noticed a figure and we went down to check it out and saw them in there. Along with our pilot and a another tourist we managed to break the ice and bring them out,"

„Woah that's insane. Are they alive?"

„They're according to the doctors stable. When they wake up we will get informed. They seem to be around your age or a little older,"

„Will there be a possibility that I will meet them?"

„One step after the other. First, they need to get well, second I will need to know if they'll be a good influence on you or not," Commented Gabriel making Adrien look away and roll his eyes.

„Right father….." Replied Adrien unamused.

Their car approached the front of the schoolhouse, then Adrien got out making his way towards the stairs, where his friend Nino stood along with Max and Kim.

„I didn't know this was possible," Nino commented, then Adrien held his fist up in front of Nino.

„Hey Nino," Greeted the blonde making his friend smile and greet him.

„Bro, good morning. How are you doing?"

„I'm fine, what about you?"

„Same man. He just showed me the news from a few days ago, where your dad apparently found two people in a frozen lake. How was this possible?"

„He told me they saw some odd shadow on the ice and took a closer look, seeing…..,"

„No, how did he just go there help them. I always thought he was colder than cold," Nino commented making Adrien shrug his shoulders.

„He wasn't alone on that point. Nathalie was around and according to him, she was the one noticing them. Otherwise, I believe they wouldn't have done anything or my father at least,"

„The fact both didn't pass away after being rescued still shocks me," Max commented. „Their chance of dying was 99.999% and not only them, many other people that had the bad luck to lose their life in icy waters,"

„That's really insane for them. This reminds me of that anime-like cartoon we started to look together last Winter," Kim pointed out earning a nod from the short boy.

„In his case, he froze himself at the beginning of the episode. Those two victims must have been natural. To 78%," Max calculated taking his smartphone out to make the calculation.

„But how long do you think they have been in there?" Questioned Adrien. „I've heard they seemed to wear clothing from the 19th or so,"

„Maybe 100 years or more. Perhaps the doctors will find it out as well. Who knows,"

„We'll see it in a few days," Pointed out the blonde, then saw Nino's smartphone ring and the Moroccan took it out to attend it.

At the house of Marinette, she sat alone in the kitchen eating cereals for breakfast, while her kwami Tikki sat on top of the milk pack watching her and nibbling a chocolate chip cookie.

„Yesterday it made 9 days since we fought the last akuma. Isn't it weird, that Hawk Moth hasn't managed to akumatize someone, or do you think no one was in a negative mood, that would lead them to get akumatized?" Asked Marinette watching Tikki swallow her food.

„I don't know it either Marinette, but I feel like this is really good right now. Cat Noir and you could at least take a break for a few days, rest, clear your mind, and all that. This we should take it and use it to charge up our energies and rest out,"

„I could really appreciate it more if I didn't additionally have my duty as a guardian. I'm close to losing all my friends at some point, just because I can't tell anyone, that I'm Ladybug. I'm really thankful you and Cat Noir at least are around trying to help me about this,"

„Don't let your hands down, Marinette. We'll get a solution to help you out," Tikki cheered the girl up flying down at the girl's hand to pat her. Marinette's smartphone vibrates, then Marinette pressed on the home button to see the message was from Kim, then Marinette opened it as she saw it was a link from a newspaper page to see what it was about.

„Tikki, look at this….Gabriel Agreste apparently encountered two people inside the ice and they're here in the hospital," Marinette mentioned making Tikki nod.

„Who would care about someone finding people in ice?" Questioned Tikki. „The newspapers I mean,"

„You know sometimes news related to celebrities are more interesting than regular news. The whole media stood two months ago crazy as Jagged Stone couldn't find his crocodile and at the end of the day it turned out, that he had locked up Fang in the bathroom for a bath and left because of an emergency,"

„Oh…..that's also the same with you and Cat Noir. You could see Officer Roger save people from robberies every day and no one speaks about it, but if you save Mr. Pidgeon for the 45th time you're mentioned again,"
„It's kinda sad, that others don't receive any recognition as well, then they've done something like…..Miss Bustier….she still works after school and before school. She spends half of her weekend preparing for school to teach us and no one ever says thank you. Don't you think so?"

„There are many people out there we don't know, that deserve to be recognized for what they do. There you are right,"

„Maybe we can do something to make this possible or at least try," Marinette commented, then watched her smartphone vibrate and see a gif reply from Nathaniel, which showed a child freeze himself along with a large animal into ice, making Marinette chuckle.

At the troll kingdom, people were sightseeing the place and on the outside lied the troll Orm, which had his eyes closed and had only his feet covered with ice, which was nearly all melted. A young couple came from over the bridge laughing together, then passed by the troll, which they hadn't noticed and the man stopped the woman and took out his selfie stick and added his smartphone on it and extended it.

„Come, Agnes, let's take a picture from here," The man asked making the blonde woman nod and stay beside the man to take a selfie, then she looked at the boyfriend and pecked him on his cheek, embracing him. Afterward, she noticed the troll with the red vest on the ground and shrieked.

„What is that?!" Asked the woman unaware of the species, then the man went down on his knees to check it out. „Be careful Erik,"

„Don't worry," The man commented moving the troll aside seeing the long nose of the troll. „Could this thing here be a mysterious creature or just a rare rabbit species?" Questioned Erik making the woman shrug her shoulders looking at the troll, then the man held his hand in front of Orm's mouth noticing a soft breathing. „I think he's alright,"
„That's good….wait…...is that ice on his feet?" Asked Agnes pointing at the troll's feet, then Erik grabbed his left leg to take a closer look at it, then smashed the ice block carefully on the ground waking Orm up, shrieking Agnes.

„Woah!"

„Hey! Get your hands off my feet," Argued the troll causing Agnes to scream, while Erik just gazed perplexed at the talking animal. Orm glared at the human, then sat up grabbing the pole hammer.

„What are you looking at? Never saw a talking troll?" Asked Orm, then Erik ran off, pulling his girlfriend behind screaming in panic, leaving Orm back, which used the pole hammer to get up on the feet and notice his other feet, which was frozen. Orm smashed his foot against the wall, followed by a yelp as after the ice-breaking he hurt his foot as well, then looked around to see the kingdom had several location arrows and boards as information for tourists, which make Orm curious and he approached them to take a look at one map.

„What happened?" Orm asked taking a look at the card, then he found on the corner of the dashboard a copyright sign. „C….., 2006, Marco Björgman Inc. Who the heck is that?" Orm asked, then looked at the bridge and remembered, he had been fighting along with friends and he ran at the cliff to look down at the lake, which had two large holes and the rest remained frozen. Orm took his pole hammer and slid on his butt down to the ice and used the weapon to hold himself on the rocks, then moved aside to get on the ice shallow. Orm got down and crawled over the ice, then glimpsed after each stop he made through the glass to see if he would spot anyone he knows. Near the middle, where the ice was broken Orm looked through it and noticed the back of the ice-made locomotive, which was used to defeat the fire demon.

„They still must be in there and the rest must be around the deep. Okay, this is going to be difficult. Swimming down there alone will just kill me. Maybe I can find some people here or trolls, that can help me," Orm told himself looking up at the cliff. „I hope someone is actually around," Orm spoke at the current silence in the kingdom.

It was evening at the private clinic near the Arc de Triomphe the two found teens Gerda and Rollan lied in the same patient room in a bed with their eyes closed. Inside the patient room stood a male nurse checking the list under Rollan's bed, then wrote something on it and made his way out of the room.

On the other side, where Gerda lied she began to wrinkle her nose and open up her eyes and look around her to see the patient room and shrieked at seeing small tubes attached to her hands, then she removed her cover to find herself in a patient nightgown and spotted across the room the boy Rollan, which wasn't awake.

„Rollan!" Gerda called pulling off the tubes off her hands, then got up on the top of a mat and sighed at feeling the cool bottom. „What is this place?" Gerda asked moving around, then in front of Rollan's bed she encountered the sheets with information and Gerda picked it up to see it.

„Huh…...what are those sort of words?…..Gosh this calligraphy is awfully unreadable," Complained Gerda, then on the corner of the sheet she found out, that she was located along with Rollan inside the hospital and placed it back. „What sort of hospital is this?" Questioned Gerda and looked out of the window to see lots of buildings, spotting a small park and behind it a four different consulates with their native flags hanging in front of it. Gerda squinted her eyes to see, if she could recognize the flags, then she heard running footsteps on the corridor from the outside and ran back to her bed and sat down, then looked at the tubes, she had taken out and tried to adjust them, then the door opened up and Gerda lied down, pretending to be asleep.

Two nurses got into the patient room and spotted both teens lying inside the bed, then one of the nurses looked at their phone checking the alarm on it to make sure, they had gotten into the right room.

„Maybe someone else got over it and didn't notice it?" Asked the first nurse, then the second nurse walked toward Gerda spotting, that her tubes were out, then as she was about to grab her hand the second nurse approached Rollan and began to giggle.

„Did you find something out?" Questioned the first nurse.

„Blanka, this guy would be a good fit for you," Commented the nurse watching the raven-haired come along to look at the boy.

„He does really look handsome. I have to admit," Responded Blanka seeing her friend move Rollan's bangs up.

„I just don't like his eyebrows, they're too thick," Commented the nurse, while on the other side of the patient room Gerda looked out of the cover with a confused face at the two nurses talking.

„What eye color do you think he has?" Questioned Blanka watching the nurse carefully lift up his eyelid to see his color, then she let it go quick shrieking as Rollan groaned, then moved his head aside and Blanka picked up the information sheet of the boy to observe it, then retrieved it. „I think he's about to wake up,"

Gerda moved her head up to watch Rollan, but then the nurses blocked her sight making the girl roll her eyes and sit up on the bed.

„Wait I forgot to plug in the tubes on the…..," Blanka mentioned turning around to spot Gerda, which was sitting and both shrieked from seeing each other. Gerda pulled the cover over her head, then Blanka approached the girl, placing her hand on the bed. „Don't be afraid, we're here to help you and your friend. We're nurses. We're here to take care of your health, needs, and any other support," Explained Blanka carefully pulling the cover of Gerda to see her, noticing in her eyes, that she felt nervous at the current situation. „My name is Blanka. I'm one of the 30 nurses working here during the night shift. Do you have a name, my girl?"

„I'm Gerda," Responded the blonde. „What happened? How did we get here?"

„According to the man, that found you, you two were frozen blocks. Before you got here you were up in Norway at the hospitals and got brought here to ours. For the next few days, you and your friend will stay here with us. There is nothing to worry about. You'll get three warms meals every day, we will do some analyzes to see how your health state is at the moment and when everything is good, you're allowed to go."

„Okay and how long have we been stuck in ice?" Questioned Gerda. „I don't think we had hospitals looking like this,"

„Well good question. We're currently in the year 2018,"

„2018?!" Shouted Gerda in shock, followed by a groan coming from Rollan, which shrieked the other nurse and he slowly sat up on his bed, then the nurse looked at him slowly coming to his senses and spot the woman.

„What happened?" Rollan asked looking across the room to see Gerda with the other nurse. „Gerda, are you in heaven as well?"

„No you're not," Responded the nurse placing her hand on the boy's shoulder. „You're…,"

„We're in 2018, Rollan. We've been frozen for almost 120 years!"

„What!?" Shrieked Rollan. „Are we in the future?"

„Sort of," Responded Gerda watching Rollan look at the tubes on his hands, then cried and ripped them off his arms, then the nurse held Rollan back on his bed, afterward Blanka came to help the comrade keeping the boy back. „Calm down, Rollan. Everything is okay, they're just trying to help us," Gerda mentioned watching Rollan trying to fight the women off, which were holding him back.

„Don't worry, you're safe here with your friend. It's important you keep this," Explained Blanka. „Berto just went home, should we wait for tomorrow or call one of the chief doctors?"

„What about we stay here for the next time, so they get a little calmer and we can talk about, what's going on" Suggested the nurse, then Blanka nodded and watched Rollan grab her hand sanitizer bottle hanging on her outfit, then he opened it to sniff the surface and Blanka closed it immediately.

„This isn't drinkable! " Warned the nurse, making Rollan grin embarrassed.

„You two could use a cup of water, I will pour each of you a glass," Blanka offered walking across the room to a small lavatory, where two bottles of water stood and picked one up to fill the cups up and brought it to Gerda, then to Rollan.

„You two are a…..miracle case. People that are usually stuck in frozen ice tend to have a low chance of surviving, but you two…...you had the luck to receive a second chance to continue your life. Cases like yours are rare,"

„That's true," Gerda commented, then she rolled her eyes at Rollan, which had his back leaned on the pillow pondering about the situation, then Gerda placed her cup between her legs. „I think my brother and all my other friends are now dead. We haven't seen them since we were frozen, only Rollan and I are alive,"

„Probably," Responded Blanka shrugging her shoulders. „You two don't seem so, so young,"

„I'm 16," Responded Gerda. „At least I still look like that,"

„What about your friend?" Questioned the nurse looking at Rollan.

„18,"

„18 what?" Asked Blanka.

„What? I am 18. I'm legally an adult now," Commented Rollan earning a nod from the nurse.

„About you, Gerda as you seem to not have any family anymore and you're not fully aged you may need to meet social workers to see, where you can go and have a talk with you. Rollan won't need that unless the two of you have something else in mind,"

„I will need time to process, what happened," Commented Gerda earning a nod from Rollan, which showed the cup to the nurse and pouted for another glass, then the nurse took it to refill it.

„When we can go out of it, we better go together. It's better as we're both unfamiliar here," Rollan suggested making Gerda nod.

„I'm glad to know I'm not alone in this," Gerda commented making Rollan smile a little, then receive his glass of water again and the Spaniard smiled at the nurse as a thankful gesture.
