"Here you go, baby. It's herbal." Brian hands the steaming mug to Olivia, and she smiles gratefully before he sits on the couch next to her. "Has the nausea calmed down at all?"
Olivia shrugs and takes a sip of the tea. "For now, but you know it comes in waves."
Five-and-a-half months into her pregnancy, and the morning, or should she call it all day sickness, was showing no signs of letting up. She didn't know if it was because of her age, or her daughter was already giving her attitude, but her doctor said it wasn't uncommon and there wasn't a lot that helped it.
Thankfully, Brian had been there for her through every miserable moment. For a while, all she could do was eat chicken soup and lay around, and Brian was there right by her side. She really was so grateful for him.
"Not much longer, right? And I know the second we meet her this will all be worth it." Brian says, and Olivia nods slowly.
"I just hope I'm a good mom." Olivia says quietly. "I didn't really have a great example."
Brian picks his head up and scoots closer to her now, placing his hand on her thigh. "Liv, you're going to be an amazing mom. You're great with every kid you meet and you've wanted children for as long as I've known you. Our baby is so blessed already."
Olivia smiles now with tears brimming her eyelids, and she leans forward to kiss him softly before falling into his arms.
If the last six months were any indication of how fast time goes, their daughter was going to be here before they knew it. Or were prepared for. And Olivia didn't quite know if she was ready. If she would ever be ready.

"Do we have anything else on this guy?"
"Not much, TARU is going through his laptop and cellphone records but he has an alibi. Granted it's spotty, but we've also found no one to corroborate it."
"Okay, and where is he staying?"
Detective Amaro looks at the tiny notepad in his hand and throws up a hand. "The Lennox Grand Hotel on Ninth Avenue."
Olivia nods and runs a hand over her face before gesturing out the door. "Okay, Fin, Amanda, head to the hotel and see if they can pull security footage with Rogers on it to break that alibi. Nick, head to TARU and put some pressure on them so we can get those phone records."
Her detectives nod and turn to head out of her office, and Olivia nods before leaning back on her chair behind her desk, her hand subconsciously traveling to the spot on her belly where she just felt her daughter move. A small smile comes to her face at the amazement of being pregnant and feeling her daughter close to her like this.
She couldn't lie and say she didn't miss working in the field like her detectives were doing right now, but she knew that both her doctor and Brian would lose it if they found out she was chasing perps two weeks from her third trimester-especially being high-risk. So, she just put all of her faith in her detectives, like she always did, because if there was one thing she was more passionate about than work it was protecting her baby. She needed her to be born healthy.

Olivia was studying a document on her screen later that night when she hears a knock on her door. She doesn't even look up from the laptop, just lifts her hand and motions for the mystery knocker to come in.
"Hey, Liv. Got a minute?" The sound of the voice makes Olivia look up quickly, and she smiles softly at the sight of her partner at the door. Nick turns to close the door before walking in and sitting down across from her.
"What's up, Nick? Everything okay?"
Nick nods and shrugs. "Uh, yeah, everything's good. I just have something for you."
Olivia raises an eyebrow toward Nick, and he reaches into his coat before pulling out what looks like a stuffed animal. He places it on the desk in front of Olivia, and she looks down at it and shakes her head.
"I'm confused." She says simply, looking back up at Nick.
"I told Zara you were having a baby girl, and before I could finish my sentence, she was handing me her favorite stuffy that she's had since she was born. Told me she wants Baby Benson-Cassidy to have it."
Olivia feels the tears bubbling in her throat, and she swallows them back to be able to speak to him. "Wow, Nick, this is uh…thank you. Zara is such a sweet girl. I can't wait for her to meet this baby." She says, her hand coming to rest on her growing stomach softly.
Nick stands up and walks around the desk to stand next to her, leaning forward onto his hands and looking at her.
"Look. I know it seems like I'm not supportive, or happy for you, but I am. Since I've known you, I know you've wanted a baby, and while I'm not entirely thrilled about who the father is, I can't change it now. But what I do know is you're going to be a great mom, and I'm looking forward to seeing if Brian proves me wrong about everything I suspect of him now. You have all of our support."
Olivia can't contain the tears now; she is silently crying at her desk as Nick reaches over to rub her shoulder. "Thank you, Nick. It means so much." The two of them share another smile before Nick stands up and walks out of her office and back into the squad room.
She was terrified for motherhood, had no idea what to expect or even if she'd be a good one. But she knew that even if she couldn't handle it, she has Brian and her squad, who have since become her family. Everything was going to be alright, just because of that alone.
