Chapter 3 - A Traversing Escape!
*The opening begins with the main characters Sora and Res standing on a world that has a blue ocean and an early evening blue sky with clouds. The theme 'Face my Fears' by Utada Hikaru begins to play.*
*Breath, should I take a deep? Faith, should I take a leap?*
*A new scene shows the vessel of the ancient Keyblade Foreteller Luxu who now goes by his new name Xigbar currently watching them via the Gazing Eye and flashing a smirk.*
*Taste, what a bittersweet! All my, all my life…*
*Meanwhile, Luxu's friends - Aced, Invi, Ira and Gula - make their mark on the alternate Realm of Light by keeping an eye on Sora and Res while setting up different tests for them to pass on new worlds.*

*The next scene shows the alternate version of Kairi sharpening the corrupted version of Destiny's Embrace all the while looking at a picture of the boy that used to love before he betrayed them all. It made her angry and determined to kill him and avenge everyone that she cared about.*
*Oh, let me face, let me face, let me face my fears! (Let me face, let me face, let me face my fears!)*
*The music begins to pick up as Sora and Res are currently in the world of Remnant and preparing to attack the Heartless, Nobodies and Grimm who have come together. Both brandish their Keyblades and charge forward.*

*Lose, soon I'll have nothing to… Space, I guess that's what I choose…*
*The entity places the pieces down on a chessboard along with two others - one of a goat head while the other of the corrupted version of Destiny's Embrace. He gave a chuckle as this scene comes to a close…*

*In a new world, the two children battle Heartless alongside a young boy who has a shield attached to his wrist and a raccoon-like human girl. All of them are standing side-by-side to protect each other.*
*Won't be long, won't be long, I'm almost here! Watch me cry all my tears!*
*The song picks up as the scene flashes to the real Realm of Light where the real Kairi is training by herself on some dummies and preparing for her journey to search for Sora.*
*Let me face, let me face, let me face my fears! Oh, let me face, let me face, let me face my fears!*
*The opening comes to a close as Sora and Res are preparing themselves for the fight against the alternate Kairi and Xigbar. Both are confident that they shall win no matter what.*
*Won't be long, won't be long, I'm almost here! Watch me cry all my tears…*
*Soon, the screen goes black as Sora and Res stand to attention wielding their Keyblades as the opening logo 'Out of this World!' appears. 'Face my Fears' ends.*
*Watch me cry all my tears…*
Morning rolled by quickly as the two teens were still asleep in the Accessory Shop. Soon, they started to stir and covered their mouths to stop their yawns from coming.
Res stretched her arms before she turned to look at Sora. "Morning, Sora." She wished while blocking out a yawn.
"Morning, Res. Sleep well?" He asked.
Res shrugged while replying. "As well as it could be expected. Not exactly a five-star hotel room but it sufficed."
"We have to take what we can get in a post-apocalyptic universe… like my mother always told me: Sora, should you find yourself in another world, your first priority is to find or make shelter!. She always tells me those words whenever I'm leaving on a trip with my friends." Sora explained.
"Sounds like a smart woman." Res forced a smile but deep down she was feeling like shit.
Sora had wonderful parents to care for him but she didn't have any - except for her grandmother, her relationship with her actual family was a complete and utter mess.
The spiky-haired boy noticed it and gave Res a pitiful smile. "Hey, it's all in the past. You shouldn't let your awful family drag you down." He advised.
Res lost her smile and wiped some tears away. "How can I… my family never even tried to accept and care for me like an ordinary person. Only my grandmother did… I worked my ass to the bone and became my own independent person. Only grandma cared, nobody else. You, on the other hand have a strong relationship with your parents… well, your mother at least." She finished.
Sora gave a small sigh. "Well, I did love my dad as well but he left us long ago - I couldn't forgive him for that. You have my sympathies." He told her.
Res nodded with a small smile. "Thanks, bro."
"No problem." Sora replied with his own smile before their discussion was interrupted by the sounds of their growling stomachs.
Guess it's time to get something to eat before commencing with more important things - like finding a way out of this distorted Traverse Town and exploring the alternate Realm of Light.
"Any idea on where we might find a working shower?" Sora asked, having detected the awful stench coming from his body.
Res thought it over before shrugging. "No clue. Unless we can find a working Gummi Ship or a house… I'm afraid we're stuck smelling like shit."
"Damn it… I guess we'll have a look around once breakfast is over. Worth a shot… along with finding a suitable Gummi Ship." Sora told her.
The two teens checked out the basket of food that they had brought last night and found themselves a suitable breakfast consisting of bread buns and bacon along with bottles of juice. Sitting down, they started eating and chatting about the possibilities of what these alternate worlds would hold. They also brought up a discussion on the villains.
(A little later…)
Following their breakfast, Sora and Res split up and began searching for a house that had working order. As luck would have, there was one that was in working condition along with a shower. Both were glad to find that it was still stock in water and soap which meant one thing - They could finally clean themselves off!
Res was the first one to enter the shower and then Sora followed suit. Once that was over, they searched the house for a washer to make their clothes sparkling clean and a dryer. Again, luck was on their side.
Two hours later, they were cleaned up and ready to get started on leaving Traverse Town. Res had taken the liberty of fixing her hair in a ponytail and holding it with a band.
"Alright, now that we're cleaned up - let's hit up the Accessory Shop and see if there's anything we can use before I open one of the gates." Sora decided with Res nodding in agreement.
The two headed back to the Accessory Shop and started searching for items like potions, ethers and elixirs. Given the fact that Traverse Town was abandoned, there was bound to be items lying around here and there.
In the end, they had found a couple of potions and 4 bottles of Ether. Not a lot but it should suffice for now. Taking a nearby backpack, they placed them all in there before Res looked at Sora. "Maybe we should check the rest of the shops? Might be some more stuff there."
"Good idea. Let's check out Huey, Dewey and Louie's shop nearby." Sora decided as the two left the Accessory Shop.
As they entered the building, Res had to wonder how on earth Donald's nephews even came to Traverse Town or how they managed to set up a shop that sold items. A complete mystery to her…
"Say, Sora… How exactly did the triplet nephews of that wizard set up shop or even come to Traverse Town?" She asked him as they started to look around.
Sora thought about it before shrugging. "I dunno. I tried asking Donald about it yet he too was utterly confused… and then got mad at them. I think they were sent back to Disney Castle with a spanking and a hefty scolding. Oof, you don't wanna know…"
Res nodded before shivering a little and continuing to search for more items that would help them on their journey. A little later, Sora pulled out a dusty old book with a blue cover. Its title was 'Magic Unveiled - An Interactive Guide to Spells by…' - the author's name was smudged up.
"Hmmm… interesting." Sora commented with Res peeking up the interest in his voice before asking. "What's interesting?"
"I found a book titled 'Magic Unveiled' - should we take it with us? Could help out with us learning new spells and whatnot." Sora asked.
Res thought about it before nodding. "Go ahead. We could use some ranged options."
Sora nodded and opened the book to examine it while Res continued searching for items. Sadly, she didn't find anything else - just a few scraps of paper, dusty old books, broken glass bottles…
Res sighed in exasperation and felt her feet killing her. Plus, they felt warm all of a sudden…
'Damn it… why'd I have to end up in these damn boots? My feet are killing me… Also, the shorts I'm wearing are way a bit too short for my taste… Ugh, now I'm just complaining about stupid shit.' Res thought to herself.
She started to wonder if there was a tailor store nearby to make something new and replace her old piece of attire. When they return from their first world, she'll have a look around and see what's what.
'Hmm… maybe something without heels as to not kill my feet, a longer jacket with a green color scheme, some stockings probably and maybe-'
"Res, you okay…? You've been staring into space for nearly 5 minutes." Sora's question shook her out of her thoughts.
"Huh… Oh, y-yeah. Just thinking about something." Res told him.
"Oh? Something bad?" Sora questioned but Res shook her head.
"Nah… I just thought of something since I often get involved in making character designs for you and your friends back home and-"
Sora was surprised by what she just said. "Wait, what!? You… you make character designs for my world?"
"In a way, yes. But I also input new characters in the world along with making designs for them." Res explained and Sora's face morphed into an awed one.
"That's… that's amazing." The boy complimented as Res flashed a grin before sitting down on top the counter.
"I'd like to think so. It's fun to experiment - inputting a character into a story, making your own rules, interacting with people… I often make art with my computer back home or focus on writing a chapter or two." Res explained.
"Do you think they'd be here?" Sora's question caught Res off-guard.
She didn't really expect that to be asked… hmm, come to think about it - would they be here? Probably not but one has to wonder…
"Hmm… maybe? I'm not sure." Her reply came with a shrug before she fell silent to think.
Sora waited for her to continue which she eventually did. "I'm running on the assumption that anything can happen. Given the fact that since any reality CAN happen, any of my characters can be here at this point during their creation or existence. If they are here, I hope we don't meet them. My stories have gotten WAY too confusing and I'm not in the mood to deal with anything right now."
Sora gave a small nod before replying. "You think a lot, don't you?"
"One of the many traits that I have… helps me determine what to do next, what's right and wrong… You get the message. So, what's the book about?" Res questioned.
"Oh… it's a guide to magic. Different types of spells, how to cast them… that sort of thing. Oh, speaking of which - how are you gonna defend yourself?" Sora asked with Res freezing.
Oh, fuck! Sora brought up a good point - how was she supposed to protect herself? Actually… wait a minute. If she was sent to the KH-verse, was it possible that she was already gifted the ability to use the Keyblade? Probably, probably not…
"Res?" Sora spoke.
Res got up from the counter and pulled out her right hand. "I'm gonna try something and see if it's true. Cross your fingers, Sora." She advised and fell silent.
Sora was utterly confused on what she was doing but decided to humor her. Then his eyes widened when he saw light forming in her right hand and expanding. It couldn't be… was Res a…
Once the light was gone, something metal was formed in its place… a Keyblade! It had a silver blade with the top shaped like pointed spear with the teeth being a green half-heart and a yellow wing-like attachment, two guard-like types in a golden color scheme with a black handle that connected the spear-like guard with a yellowish green cone, a yellow pommel with a green color circle with a heart-like fleur-de-lis that was criss-crossed, a silver chain that lead to the token which was a green heart-like fleur-de lis with a golden crown atop.
Res opened her eyes slowly and gasped when she saw that her theory came true! She was definitely a Keyblade Wielder!
"Whoa… I didn't imagine it would turn out to be true!" Res admitted with a surprised look.
"You mean you had no idea that you were a Keyblade Wielder?" Sora asked but all he received was a shrug from his friend.
It made him frown. "Are you sure?" He asked.
Res deadpanned. "I'm sure… plus, if you remember - we had other things on our mind as well." She reminded him.
"Oh… Oh, yeah. Right… my bad." He apologized but Res raised her hand before shaking it.
"Don't worry about it too much. So, now that I have a Keyblade - I can defend myself." Res said with a grin.
"Yeah… but, do you know how to use that thing though? You just summoned it for the first time and well…" Sora trailed off as Res swung it in the air like a bat.
"I think so… it's just like a baseball. All I have to do is hit something and it will go down." Res told him.
Now it was Sora's turn to deadpan. "Well, yeah… but you still need to learn a couple of moves in order to survive. Lucky for you that I'm an expert in the arts of the Keyblade. I'll teach you all my very best moves!" He declared with a grin.
Res rolled her eyes but gave a friendly nod. "Sure, teach. Now let's get a move on and activate that gate. I wanna see what our first world is like." She told him.
His grin increased. "Eager to get started are we?" He questioned and she nodded furiously.
Sora summoned Kingdom Key and muttered the phrase. "May your Heart be Your Guiding Key." In response to that, the tip lit up and soon a portal was conjured in front of their eyes.
"Ready to move on?" Sora asked his companion who nodded.
With that, the two entered the portal which closed soon afterwards. The shop had fallen silent once more.
(On the other side…)
The silent room had white walls and a white reflective tile floor. The white ceiling forms an arch and a little over midway up the walls is a thick blue border with gold edges. In a few places around the room were arch-shaped bookshelves attached to the walls. Said silence however was interrupted by the appearance of a portal appearing in the room to which Sora and Res entered. Said portal closed soon after as the two teens looked around.
"Huh, we ended… in a room?" Res commented and looked around some more.
The room featured a huge fireplace with a long off-white rug with white, gold and blue trimming, a king-sized bed, a coffee table and a dresser for storing clothes. Overall, it was quite a room - a fancy one at that.
"Hmmm… I feel like we're in some sort of mansion. Could be wrong though." Res concluded.
Sora went over to the window and moved the curtains away which gave a view of the hedge garden below. "You might actually be right with your theory, Res. We're definitely in a mansion of some kind."
Before Res could answer, footsteps were heard along with a scolding voice. Crap! Someone was coming!
"Sora, quick! HIDE!" Res whispered as she took him by the hand and shoved him in the dresser along with herself before they closed the door. However, they left a small crack in order to hear what was about to go down.
And then the door slammed open as a scolding voice occured. "How dare you do this to me!? Embarrassing our family and in front of a gala no less!? Have you no shame!?"
"I did what I thought was right! I won't take back my words!"
"Don't backtalk to me, young lady!"
Two voices could be heard scolding - an older one and a young one. Res and Sora looked at one another before they peeked out through the small open crack to see what was going down…
Author's Notes: And I've finally gotten around to updating the next chapter of Out of this World! Sorry for the long wait - things have been pretty hectic and the huge Author's Block that I'm having… plus, a lack of interest in writing and trying to focus on my biggest protect ever. I'll give more frequent updates in the future - this I promise you all!
So, the project I have is actually a pretty interesting one - my efforts will be focused into writing and attempting to publish my very first novel 'Song's End'. Now I'm hoping with my writing skills and the help of my beta reader that I'll pull a good enough job. Here's to hoping that I can see my novel on a bookstore shelf in the near future!
So, yeah - Res has summoned her Keyblade and the two have made their way into their first world in the Realm of Light! For those of you that are curious on what it is, you'll just have to wait and see. I think you'll like it a lot since it's based on one of my favorite anime-like shows.
Also, I added an intro song to the story - hoping to God that the song writers don't copyright strike me nor the Fanfic admins… Ugh. I mean, I've seen fanfic writers pull that stuff like all the time and not get into any trouble… so, here's to hoping.
And with that said, I'm wishing you all a pleasant day and happy reading of 'Out of this World'! Enjoy and see you all next time!
