The Corsair sipped at her warm tea as she gazed out the window of her small apartment. She had spent all day yesterday packing her few possessions into the pockets of her coat which hung on a knobb beside her doorway. Now, she was attempting to calm herself down as she waited for the delivery to come.
Ships glided by her window and throughout the city as the first sun rose on the horizon, casting a faint rainbow as the light split through the skydome onto the buildings below. Some might call this view beautiful. But most things are only beautiful the first few thousand times you see them.
The Corsair picked up a snapscreen of her research on the coordinates that Rasalon had given her. The place was strange.
The location seems to be a solitary planet, no system or anything. Too far from any planets to be considered part of the formed universe, just a bit out of sync in terms of time as well.
There were no civilizations, no settlements. No search parties had ever returned, and all scanning technology came back with no reading. It was as though the place did not exist. It is only known that the place exists because a teleporting reconnaisance drone caught footage of it by chance. The coordinates the Lord President gave her are the same as the ones saved in that drones logs. It must be an incredibly precise point, as ships have flown straight through the area without interacting with the system at all.
A strange anomoly for sure. Some researchers suggesy it may be an unusually small dimension hidden within the edge of space. Or maybe in the start of the universe a section of the frabric of the universe bent around a section of mass and became caught within itself, seperate from the rest of the universe but not quite disconnected. So that the contents of the space surrounding the planet would be similar to that of the pre-mass universe. Who knows what could be there. Whatever it is, it certainly outdated all life in the universe.
But all this would also mean the planet exists outside of our laws of time, and might be used as an effective bridge betwern locked times- with the right calculations of couse. With Galifrey locked from the rest of the universe using a proximity time barrier, perhaps the lone planet can be accessed and used as a conduit for travel. Though they may need to establish an anchor there like how the ancient machines operated.
The Corsair clipped the snapscreen shut and finished the last sip of her now cold tea.
This is crazy. This mission is highly dangerous, even if you don't consider the failed manned missions there.
If Rasalons plan was to get rid of her, I guess he is going to succeed. I can't leave the crew behind.
The corsair cleaned her cup and saucer and placed them in the front pocket of her
coat. She placed her portable kettle and box of tea in there as well. Feeling a small dice like object in there, she pulled it out. It was the data cube Rasalon had given her.
"Damn it!" She said. She couldn't hold it off any longer. She whipped out the snapscreen and pushed the data cube into a recess in the side and pressed play on the video which popped up, dreading what came. Especially since she knew it wouldn't really change anything. The fact that Rasalon gave it to her was proof enough that the information was legitimate.
The screen lit up with a view of the corsairs TARDIS parked on 84d, one of the repair docks which are on top of the building she is in right now. Monteur seemed to just be climbing down after making repairs on the hull, grease on his clothes and holding one of his thumbs, but grinning widely as he nodded to Solace, who was walking out the doors of the TARDIS with a slightly concerned look on his face. Sound started coming in as a hooded figure began walking towards the doors. Clearly the microphone was being carried on her.
"...it done quickly, good job. and make sure you see Caducey about that thumb!" called Solace to Monteur as he walked through the doors. Solace turned to the person approaching him. "Your early. And with a new coat too! Thought you'd never get rid of that thing." The corsairs eyes furrowed while watching the video.
"I can change my wardrobe one in a while, Solace. Besides, we have a new mission. I thought I might dress for the occasion." The Corsair heard herself say.
