On his way back to the Saloon to go talk to Lucas, Nathan was deep in thought. All he could think of was how Elizabeth told him he wasn't her lifetime. What did Lucas have to offer her? Well the one thing Lucas had that Nathan didn't was a huge amount of money, but that's not what a relationship should be about, should it?

Nathan got to the saloon door and took a deep breath before going in. And said a silent prayer. "Lord, help me with the questions I ask today, help keep me in line with my duty not only as a Mountie but also as your example." Nathan opened the door and saw Gustave sweeping up the broken glass. "Can I help you with anything?" Nathan asked setting down his stetson on a table. "You want to flip those chairs and tables over?" Gustave answered motioning his hands at the flipped over items. Nathan immediately went and started getting the chairs upright. "Were you here when this happened?" Gustave shook his head "No no I was at the mercantile making some orders." He had finished sweeping and was now onto mopping. Nathan just finished the chairs and was now moving onto the tables. "So if you weren't here who was managing the bar?" Nathan questioned. "Lucas was of course." Gustave answered with annoyance in his voice. Now this baffled Nathan, if Lucas had been tending the bar when the fight had occurred where was he? And why didn't he help clean anything up? "Do you know where Lucas is now, Gustave? "Yes, he's in the office!" He continued mopping and moved further away from Nathan and mumbled something under his breath in his foreign tongue. "Thank you." Nathan now on his way to Lucas' office. He knocked on the oak door.

"Come in." Lucas replied. Nathan turned the handle and walked in. Lucas was sitting at his desk hair askew and suit stained, wrinkled and torn in a few different areas. "Are you alright?" Nathan said the words but he had a hard time meaning them. "Yeah I'm fine. Don't worry about me I'm sure you have other things you need to do." Lucas brushed off his concern and ran his hand through his hair trying to get it to go back to normal. "Well, I have to ask you a few questions about the incident... did you know any of them?" At the question Lucas got stiff, his elbows were on the table and he rested his head in his hands. To Nathan it looked like he was trying to hold back tears. "I uhh... one of them I know. The other two I don't." Lucas answered and rubbed his eyes. "Mind me asking how you know the one guy?" Lucas shook his head his eyes were lowered at his desk and he wasn't going to let Nathan see his face. And he definitely wasn't going to share with Nathan who the man was. "Lucas, if you don't help me out with this I'll have a harder time tracking them down." Nathan was very agitated with Lucas. Was he trying to make it harder for him? "I'm not going to be pressing in charges so you can just forget about the whole thing." Lucas looked up and Nathan to see a clenched jaw and determined eyes. "Lucas, I can't forget about a crime that was committed. It wasn't just you involved but also Jesse and Mike, they had to go to the infirmary. Jesse needed a few stitches. So even if you aren't going to press charges I'm still going to go after them. With or without help from you." With that Nathan turned around and reached for the door. "His name is Taylor." "As Lucas was speaking Nathan turned around. "Do you know his full name?" Nathan questioned. "Jameson Taylor. he's about my height and age. That's all I know." Lucas stood up and met Nathan's eyes. Nathan could tell he knew more about this man than he was letting on. "Thanks for the name and info." Nathan turned and left.

Why was Lucas hiding information about this man and why wasn't he going to be pressing charges. It didn't add up. Nathan had to get to the bottom of this before his new posting. That didn't leave much time so he knew he had to start right away.
