'Oh sweetheart, you look absolutely done in. How are you feeling?' Grace asks softly as Georgie drops down onto the sofa and sighs.
'Rough. I feel as if I had a wild night out last night.' Georgie replies as Grace smiles sympathetically.
'Welcome to pregnancy, Georgie. How did your appointment with the doctor go?' Grace asks sitting on the sofa opposite her.
'It was good. They actually sent me straight through to the midwife to do my booking appointment. So she done some tests, went through a couple of questions and went over some information.' Georgie explains.
'That's good then. At least the first appointment is out of the way. Has she referred you for your dating scan while you were there?' Grace asks.
'She said I'll receive an appointment through the post. Using my dates and stuff though she thinks I'm around six weeks.' Georgie replies.
'Oh really? Almost halfway through the first trimester then. That's great, isn't it? I still can't believe you're having a baby; my Georgie married and starting a family.' Grace says smiling.
'Bet there was a time you didn't think you'd see this day.' Georgie replies.
'Mmm... I was worried for a short time but I know you just had to wait until you were ready, until the right person came along to heal your heart.' Grace replies and Georgie nods her head.
'I just needed closure.' Georgie says softly, her hand briefly resting on her stomach as she glances across at the mantlepiece where a picture of her and Elvis sits alongside a picture from Marie's wedding and her wedding to Aidan.
'Aidan is going back out to Afghan in a week... He's got intense mission specific training this week and then he flies out for a month.' Georgie says quietly.
'Oh really? How are you feeling about that?' Grace asks softly.
'I don't know. I don't think scared even covers it anymore. That place has already taken so many people I love, too many people I love. The thought of being back here pregnant and alone makes me feel so nervous.' Georgie admits shaking her head.
'You won't be alone, sweetheart. If he leaves in a week and is gone for a month then he should be back for your twelve week scan right?' Grace says.
'Hopefully.' Georgie replies quietly.
'Why don't you and Aidan have your dinner here tonight?' Grace suggests and Georgie shakes her head.
'We've actually got some last minute Christmas shopping to pick up so we're just going to grab food while we're out doing that.' Georgie replies.
'What's the plans for Christmas? If Aidan is going out to Afghan for a month then I'm assuming he won't be here?' Grace says and Georgie nods her head.
'Mmm... He'll be in Afghan for Christmas.' Georgie replies quietly.
'Are you coming to us then? You can't be on your own at Christmas?' Grace says.
'If you don't mind.' Georgie replies.
'Of course we don't mind.' Grace says.
'Having a look at baby things isnt going to tempt fate, is it? We won't jinx ourselves.' Georgie says glancing at Aidan who shakes his head.
'Of course it won't. We can look, that whole having to wait until twelve weeks is only because people are scared.' Aidan replies taking her hand and pulling her towards the baby section of the store.
'It's crazy to think that in a few months we'll be ordering stuff like this, isn't it? This time next year we'll be pushing our own little one around in one of these.' Georgie says running her hand over the handle of a pram.
'I know. You never know, we might need one of those.' Aidan replies gesturing to the double pram in the corner.
'No. Only one.' She says causing him to smile.
'Twins do run in my family. My mum was a twin. In fact my gran had two sets of twins.' He replies and she shakes her head.
'No, no, no... We're not doing twins, Aidan.' She says causing him to laugh.
'What's your plan for when the baby's here? What are you going to do about work?' He asks softly and she shrugs her shoulders.
'Obviously I'm going to take the full 52 weeks maternity leave unless you would like to do the shared parental leave?' She says.
'I have paternal leave that I can take. After this tour I'm going to speak to them about stepping back from active duty. Maybe I could go into training or something like you?' He says.
'Really? I don't want you to feel like you need to do that.' She replies.
'I want to do it, Georgie. I want to be at home with you and our little one as much as I possibly can.' He says and she nods her head.
'I want you home with us as well.' She replies softly.
'I feel like shit.' Georgie says curling into Aidan's side as they sit on the sofa.
'Do you want me to get you anything? Water or some toast?' Aidan asks and she shakes her head.
'I don't think I could eat even if I wanted to. I might just head up to bed and get an early night. I know we were gonna watch a movie but-' She says and he smiles.
'Let's head up to bed, babe. We can watch a movie another night.' He replies kissing the top of her head.
'You don't have to come up. You can watch TV for a bit.' She says.
'I'm pretty done in myself. With training and then we did a lot tonight so I think an early night will do me good as well.' He replies.
'Mmm... I'm so glad we managed to get all the Christmas shopping done tonight. Means I'll just need to wrap it when you're away.' She says.
'We can wrap it all over the next few nights before I leave. We'll get it all done and all you'll need to do is deliver them on the day.' He replies smiling.
'I love you.' She says.
'I love you too.' He replies.
