Chapter 3: Blood Drive Catering
Izuku woke up on the ground like he usually did, well like he usually did when Filia stayed the night. He woke up with a stiff back but a quick warm shower would fix that for him easily. He got up and stretched before heading to the shower, humming softly to himself before he got into the shower.
After 15 minutes he got dried off and changed into his work clothes for the day. He had to help cook in the kitchen today as they were hired to cater a blood drive that usually happened every few months at the River King Casino. The famous singer and Egyptian beauty, Eliza, was the one that actually ran the blood drive.
It was good to see such a famous person doing some form of charity work. He had to admit, he had heard her singing on the radio before as it was one of the best musics of the time. Izuku believed that Jiro would have preferred rock but still would enjoy this form of music.
He washed his hands before putting on his apron, starting to cook under Yu-Wan's instruction. The fish man really was like a father to Izuku, he showed care, patience, and reprimanded him when needed, which didn't happen too often as Izuku was a fast thinker. The restaurant was closed due to the preparation for the catering, but that didn't mean there wasn't any chatting.
Minette, Nadia, Izuku, and Filia all chatted, Nadia was just hanging around for fun as she couldn't cook, making puns as usual. Izuku would occasionally throw a pun or two back at her however. He had grown much more confident in the last few months. He didn't know why, maybe it was because Katsuki wasn't there to insult him, or it was because he felt at peace here.
He didn't dwell on that too much though, he had more chatting to do. Minette asked him if he planned on moving into an apartment soon, it was something she was sad to ask as she didn't want him to leave living there. But it was the best thing to do so he didn't have to sleep on the floor every time Filia spent the night.
"I have a bit more money to save up first. I want to save up enough to pay for one whole year of rent so I could work up more money for the monthly rent afterwards and have plenty for groceries and other clothing I might need." Izuku explained, getting a nod from Yu-Wan.
"You are smart for that, but, you could just buy another bed for that guest room or a futon." Yu-wan said, kind of apprehensive about Izuku getting an apartment just yet.
"I don't want to be a burden, and that way Filia has a room for herself. I'm not saying I don't like you Filia, I just feel like if we have different rooms that would be more appropriate." Izuku said with a light blush, which grew the more he thought about that.
"Keep blushing like that and you'll look like a strawberry Izu." Nadia said teasingly, with a smirk.
"Kid, have you've ever really dated a girl before?" Asked Samson, Filia's Parasite, nonchalantly.
"Never. I was.. an outcast during middle school.. I was the entire school's laughing stock and the teachers did nothing to help so.. I before now, I've always thought that No one would even give me a chance. I became friends with a couple females at my highschool, but, none of them asked me out and I was too much of a nervous wreck to ask any of them." Izuku admitted with a sad look.
"Damn." Samson said with a simple reply.
"Izu, you're a total hunk, why wouldn't anyone want to date a guy like you. You are sweet, caring, a true gentleman, and you have the bonus of being both cute and sexy at the same time! I have to fight back against my urges to pounce you every time I see you!" Nadia said shamelessly, causing Izuku to blush deeply, the other girls nodding silently with Nadia's statement.
He remained silent for a while after that but they did end up chatting again. After all the cooking was done he had to go take another shower before he put on a fancy suit for the catering event. His suit was a maroon color, with matching shoes and a black tie which Minette helped tie for him.
The scene was as if watching a wife help with the task before they were about to go on a date. They walked out to a car, which was loaded up for the event and were driven all the way to the casino, being brought into the dining area where they set up the food line.
It took roughly a half hour, which was perfect as it helped the food heat up a bit more before the guests and donors would actually show up, it also allowed Izuku to chat with Minette some more. It was a quiet chat, Minette silently admitting her love for the young man, who tried to say the cliche "you deserve better" line.
Of course it didn't work as Minette only found herself pouting at the boy who's heart clenched. She was adorable, and beautiful all together. They were from different worlds and were of different species, but that didn't really dissuade Izuku from seeing her as the beautiful Dagonian she was.
Yet he still couldn't bring himself the courage to admit he loved her. He could stare down All for one and Shigaraki, the most dangerous people alive in Japan, and fight him without fear of death. But, he could not just tell a girl he loved her, it was pathetic in Izuku's opinion.
In Minette's own thoughts she felt bad for admitting her love so quietly. She even knew that there were other girls that loved him as much if not more than she did. It made her felt guilty but, maybe she could share and lessen the guilt, even if it would make her feel happy to keep him all to herself.
After all, with one of the few "bathroom incidents" that had happened, she saw what he was like under his clothes, underwear included. She would feel both nervous and excited for what "it" would feel like inside of her. But she couldn't get ahead of herself of course, she still had to at least date Izuku.
But, what made the "bathroom incidents" even more awkward was that Izuku once accidentally walked in on her getting out of the shower. Not that it wasn't intentional of her leaving the bathroom door unlocked, however, it was the result that shocked her. Once he walked in and got an eye-full, he fainted, apologizing a lot later after he woke up.
Izuku did find Minette rather attractive, even more-so after this event, she didn't have too curvy of a figure, and wasn't big in the chest or hindquarters. That didn't matter though, she had a slim figure of course but it made her adorable, her shy personality was what he liked best however.
But that wasn't something Izuku or Minette should be thinking about, they had work to do. As soon as the food lines were set up they were told to take a small break. That was when She approached them, it was Eliza, the Egyptian beauty and famous singer. She walked up to them and thanked them for catering the place before she properly noticed Izuku.
To her, Izuku was a surprise, his hair was a natural black with deep forest green highlights, near emerald color. He was handsome too, his freckles giving him even more charm. But was the most surprising was the scent of his blood, it smelled lovely, like freshly baked cinnamon rolls and sakura petals.
"You must be the famous worker from Yu-Wan's. The rumors of your handsomeness are true, I'm surprised that you aren't a model instead. Maybe you could be a singer if you are talented enough, Darling." She said, her voice alluring.
"I'm too much of a nervous wreck to sing. And I prefer a quiet and simple life. It is a pleasure to meet you however." Izuku said, lying slightly before greeting her.
"We'll see about that Darling, it seems like your little girlfriend may be interested in hearing you singing though." She said, motioning to Minette who was blushing at the thought of Izuku singing, but she was knocked out of her thoughts when Eliza called her Izuku's Girlfriend.
"W-we aren't dating! I wouldn't mind it though." Izuku said blushing, silently admitting he'd like to in a mutter. Eliza laughed at this a little, his reactions were adorable, that dagonian girl was lucky to have such a handsome young man like her. However, the blood drive soon started and people would donate, eat, and listen to Eliza singing.
This went on for about an hour and a half before Eliza announced something surprising.
"Tonight we will have a special raffle of sorts! Everyone interested will write their names on a small paper and put them in a bucket, I will hand pick a random sheet and read the name. Those picked will come up and sing!" The Egyptian Beauty said as small papers were passed out.
Minette instantly grabbed one and sneakily wrote Midoriya's name on it, and soon Eliza picked out a random paper out as meanwhile, in Izuku's World, the class 1-A dorm's common room tv suddenly clicked on. Everyone in the dorm was surprised as this happened and thought it might've been a villain.
But it wasn't as they watched as this Egyptian Diva announced the name. It was Izuku Midoriya, their classmate, who became a vigilante and won the war, presumed dead. Back in New Meridian proper, Izuku blushed slightly, Minette's plan worked. He didn't ignore being called however.
He walked up onto the stage and whispered something to Eliza before he went to an amp and plugged his phone into the device, choosing a instrumental version of a song he thought Minette would like. Back in Japan, The teachers were quickly gathered, as well as class 1-B, the big three and Eri. (Midnight isn't dead in this fanfic).
As the music started Izuku took a deep breath and exhale before he began singing.
"I don't wanna die or fade away.
I just wanna be someone
I just wanna be someone"
The start was slowbut his voice was surprising to many, the song was just getting started however.
"Dive and disappear without a trace
I just wanna be someone
Well, doesn't everyone?"
Everyone listening felt the emotion in Izuku's voice, it was like he had this song picked out for a specific person, well it was, but no one was going to know who. Well almost no one, for now everyone just listened.
"And if you feel the great dividing
I wanna be the one you're guiding
'Cause I believe that you could lead the way
I just wanna be somebody to someone, oh
I wanna be somebody to someone, oh"
Back in Japan, everyonein the dorms would watch, this song was not what mattered, it was the fact that Izuku was still alive, yet he felt like he had not been someone. He was many things to them, a classmate, a friend, a student, a brother figure, and a hero. But a certain musicianknew, this song was not meant to portray sadness, it was a confession.
"I never had nobody and no road home
I wanna be somebody to someone"
Again more the line repeated, with the lyrics ahead of it describing Izuku's situation when Minette, Nadia, and Yu-wan first met him. It was a strange song but everyone found themselves unable to stop listening.
"And if the sun starts setting, the sky goes cold
Then if the clouds get heavy and start to fall
I really need somebody to call my own
I wanna be somebody to someone
Someone to you
Someone to you
Someone to you
Someone to you (someone to you)"
At this moment, Minette knew this song was officially for her, after all, she was the one who believed that he could still be a hero, that he could still be happy. That he could still be someone that means something.
"I don't even need to change the world (change, change the world)
I'll make the moon shine just for your view
I'll make the starlight circle the room (circle the room)
And if you feel like night is falling
I wanna be the one you're calling
'Cause I believe that you could lead the way
I just wanna be somebody to someone, oh (somebody)
I wanna be somebody to someone, oh
I never had nobody and no road home (I don't have)
I wanna be somebody to someone (somebody)
And if the sun starts setting, the sky goes cold
Then if the clouds get heavy and start to fall
I really need somebody to call my own
I wanna be somebody to someone
Someone to you
Someone to you
Someone to you
Someone to you
The kingdom come, the rise, the fall
The setting sun above it all
I just wanna be somebody to you
I just wanna be somebody to someone, oh
I wanna be somebody to someone, oh
I never had nobody and no road home
I wanna be somebody to someone
And if the sun starts setting, the sky goes cold
Then if the clouds get heavy and start to fall
I really need somebody to call my own
I wanna be somebody to someone
Someone to you
Someone to you
Someone to you
Someone to you
Someone to you."
The song finished and Izuku retrieved his phone before bowing, everyone applauding him as he walked off the stage. The green haired young man walked back to his co-worker, smiling to her softly, causing her to blush deeply.
Back in Japan however, everyone watched as Izuku quickly got off stage, and the tv turned off at that, it was absolutely strange, but at least they now knew that Izuku was still alive. That was all that mattered to them, but Jiro, she had to admit, if Izuku told her that he could sing so well, she would've had that be used at the festival months earlier, but that song was.
"It was a confession. That song was a confession to someone." Jiro said out of nowhere.
"What do you mean?" Asked Yaoyozoru, everyone looking at Jiro in confusion.
"He's been gone for months, if he isn't in our world, he's in a place similar yet more old fashioned. But what matters is that he's possibly using that song to confess to a girl he may have fallen for." The earphone jack girl elaborated.
"Who it is, is a mystery. But knowing Izuku, he'd already have several women after him with how handsome he is and his cinnamon roll personality." She added, everyone nodding.
Back in New Meridian the blood drive ended soon afterwards and the food lines were cleaned off before Yu-Wan came to pick Izuku and Minette up. Minette holding onto Izuku happily as if they had a nice date. The young man was happy at this, holding the Dagonian girl's hand as they left the Casino.
A certain Egyptian Diva finding herself thinking about the Green Haired Young man's performance hours later.
Chapter end.
