Chapter 3

Frostkit woke up, blinked and looked around. Her father and Rosepaw were gone. 'Of course, Rosepaw probably has training and my father probably had to go on patrol or something.' She yawned and walked out of the nursery. She walked around the camp sleepely. Suddenly, she heard voices, one was Rosepaw's but the other, she didn't recognize. It sounded like another apprentice but she wasn't sure.

"Why didn't you come visit the kits, Pinepaw?" Rosepaw demanded.

"I already told you, Rosepaw, I don't want anything to do with the kits, with you, or with our parents. I'm never going to forgive them." The other apprentice spat back, he must be Pinepaw.

"Pinepaw, even if you still believe in holding a grudge against mom and dad, you can't take it out on the kits, it's not their fault for what their parents did, they don't even know you exist!" Rosepaw replied

"Rosepaw, that's the way it's going to be I suppose. Anyway, even if I wanted to I couldn't see them, our parents told me to stay away from them. They told me that, and I quote, they didn't want my uselessness to rub off on them. They don't understand that what is in the past is in the past." Pinepaw sighed. "I'm going hunting. Don't ask me this again." He then snapped.

Frostkit starred with her eyes wide, 'she had a brother?' She thought. 'But why wouldn't mama and papa want me or my sisters to meet him? What happened?' She wondered. As she thought, she stepped on a twig. Rosepaw whirled around. 'Oh no, I can't let her see me, I don't think I was supposed to hear all that.' She thought. She turned around and raced back to what she thought was camp. Suddenly, she realized that she wasn't back at camp, she was in the middle of the forest. She was lost.
