Remember Me
Chapter Three: Visions?
...
..
...
Ben awoke the next morning, still on the couch holding on to a photograph. The smell of eggs and bacon wafted into the living room and he groaned sleepily as he straightened himself out. He looked at the picture in his hands and it had been the same one that caused him panic the previous night: a young Ben sitting next to that strange man.
He threw it back in the box and quickly placed the lid on it, pretending he hadn't seen it. He rubbed his eyes as he slowly got up from the couch. He greeted his mother in the kitchen as she placed a plate of eggs and bacon on the table for him.
"Breakfast." She said with a smile before making herself a plate. She sat down next to Ben and they both began to dig into their breakfast.
"Hey mom?" Ben asked with a mouth full of food. Lisa's eyes shot towards her son, giving him a look to let him know she was listening. "Can I please go back to school?"
"When?"
"Today."
"Today?! Ben, you just got out of the hospital." Lisa argued.
"I know, but I can't be stuck in here, Mom. I'm going to lose my damn mind."
"Language."
"Sorry."
Lisa looked at her son with a worried expression. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Ben voiced. "I just can't sit at home."
Lisa drew in a deep breath and gave a sigh of disappointment. "I can call the doctor if you want."
"Will you, please?" Ben begged. Lisa chuckled half heartedly.
"Yes, go up and take a shower just in case he says yes." She ordered. Ben gave his mom a smile and hugged her before hurrying upstairs to the bathroom. As he excitedly undressed and got himself into the shower, the flashing images began again. Ben stopped and grabbed hold to the shower handle to keep his balance. His voice sounded almost as if he was speaking into Ben's ears. It sent chills down his spine. He trembled as the voice echoed.
"You can't just call me when you're Mom is on a date."
"I'm always here. I'm just a phone call away, but you can't tell me it's a 911 when your Mom is going out with someone."
"But, I don't want her to date someone else." Ben's own voice echoed in his ears. He fell to his knees. He trembled with fear. What was causing this?
Ben shook his head violently, trying to get the voices out. "Get the hell out of my head." He growled. The images and the echoing voice stopped. He kept his hand wrapped around the handle, still keeping his balance just in case.
"Ben!" Lisa shouted from the bottom of the stairs. "The doctor said if you take it easy, you can go to school so hurry it up!"
He got back up from his knees and drew in a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. He shook his head, trying to shake everything else off to as he started the shower.
Lisa was hesitant to take Ben to school, but he was ready. He didn't want to miss another day and the doctor had said it was okay, so Lisa gave in. After she had dropped him off, Ben went into school like normal. He talked with his friends, went to classes, and enjoyed himself for once. It definitely beat being at home all day with his mom. By his 5th period class, he had completely forgotten about the voices and the visions. They weren't his main focus of the day until towards the end of class. Something had triggered the voices and the visions.
"We can go for a little cruise in the Impala if you want."
"Really?! Mom, please!" He could hear himself beg his mother to ride in the sleek black 1967 Chevy Impala. How he knew what year and brand it was, he had no clue, but it was as if it was a clear memory. He could see himself waving his arm out of the open window as the engine roared going down the highway. He remembered feeling complete bliss.
Ben began to feel woozy, yet again. The world felt as if it were spinning violently and he could barely hold on. His eyes began to roll to the back of his head.
"Mr. Braeden, are you okay?" The echoing voice of his teacher seemed so far away. Ben slowly began to slide out of his desk and as he fell, everything went black.
...
Ben's eyes slowly opened to a bright light above him. He began scanning the room to realize it was the nurse's office. He groaned loudly as he sat up on the bed. He noticed an ice pack sitting where his head once was. He grabbed it and placed it on top of his head again as the nurse walked in the room again.
"How are you feeling, Mr. Braeden?" The nurse questioned.
"I'm okay. What happened?"
"You fainted in the middle of class, been out for an hour or so."
"Don't tell me you called my mom."
Lisa entered the nurse's office and eyed Ben with a worried expression.
"And you called my mom, great." He grumbled.
"I told you it was too soon for you to go to school." Lisa said, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Well, we thought it was best." The nurse replied. "Mrs. Braeden, your son was mumbling something when his fellow students brought him in."
"Like what?" Lisa and Ben questioned in unison.
"Is there someone you know by the name of Dean?"
A/N: I apologize with how short the chapters are, but right now we are leading into it. I understand there's a lot of hatred for Lisa, but I personally LOVED Lisa and Ben. They were so good to Dean and they're good for him. I've always believed that Ben is Dean's son as well. There is no way he isn't! Anyway, thank you for reading. Hope you enjoy xoxo
