Chapter 3: Graduation

'Today is the ODM gear balance test.' Ed thought as he went to the mess hall for breakfast. Ed knew he would pass because he is him. But he wondered on how everyone else would do.

After all of the cadets finished eating they went outside to Balance Test. Ed got on and he balanced perfectly and looked at how everyone was doing, The cadets all struggled but started to get the hang of it but only one person could do it without a problem

and it was Mikasa, So did as great as him! 'So she must very talented.' Ed thought.

Ed Saw that Armin was struggling but he balanced himself, Jean Kirstein, or what we love to call him, Horse-face, appeared to be getting the hang of it faster than anyone *Expect Mikasa*.

Reiner Braun was doing as great as Mikasa did. Annie Leonhart was just doing it in her usual I don't give a fuck face.

Ed was thrown off his thoughts by hearing whispers, he saw that people *or heard* Cadets saying how he and Mikasa had Amazing Talent. And other stuff like "Show off". 'Ahhh... Of course the Jealous people, I was like that when someone my age was 3 times my size.' Ed got down.

Ed was thrown off his thoughts again from the sound of a loud crashing and whispers, He looked over him to see Eren daggled upside down, Ed went over to him to see what's the problem.

Ed saw that Eren had the look as he was dead. "Eren what's the problem?" Ed asked.

"I don't know it just doesn't feel right," Eren replied.

Ed saw that everyone call over to Eren. Eren try do it again Ed asked.

Eren did as he was told and he balanced for a couple of seconds until he fell and almost hit his head but Ed caught him just in time.

"See!" Eren exclaimed.

Ed started to observe his gear until he saw that his gear had been broken.

"Sir! Eren's equipment is broken!" Ed said, Pointing over to Eren's broken clasp. Shadies inspected the gear and nodded.

He said, "Yes, it appears that you're right Cadet Elric. Switch belts with Jeager," He commanded. Ed did as he was told and switched gears with Eren, Eren was hoisted back up, and was balancing normally like everyone else.

After being lowered down by Edward, Eren asked, "So... Do I pass the test." Shadies simply nodded.

"I can't believe that you were able to balance yourself with broken gear, You pass, Now keep training cadet!"

Shadies walked away and Eren's eyes glowed with happiness. He grinned at Ed. "Thank's Ed! I owe you something!" Eren said as he walked over to Armin and Mikasa.

"Looka like Eren can pass now." Reiner told Mikasa.

Mikasa looked a bit down. 'I just don't want him to die.' Mikasa thought, looking over to Eren. 'Is he finally growing up?' 'Does he not need me to protect him anymore?' Mikasa thought. 'No, No matter what will protect Eren. I promised his Mom.' Mikasa thought.

'Eren seems to like Ed and trust him, Maybe I can ask him to help Eren when it is needed. No that just sounds weird.' Mikasa thought to herself.

She was still thinking until Eren came up to her and asked. "Mikasa are you alright? You look tired." Eren asks Worrdily to Mikasa. She nodded.

"Then we should hurry up to The Training field to practice Combat before Shadies gets angry." Mikasa nodded and followed Eren.

Ed's POV

Instructor Shadies told us that members of the survey corps will be watching us. He looked over to see them there, That blond man with bushy eyebrows must be the commander he looks most responsible for.

Ed looked the other way to see Eren sparring with Reiner, Waiting for one of them to stop so he can spar with one of them.

Ed watched as Eren Slammed Reiner to the ground, even with the difference in size.

"Not too bad," Ed remarked at Eren.

"Thanks," Eren said panting. "You're very tough Reiner." Reiner grinned at the compliment.

"Here, you can be the bad guy Eren, " Ed said holding out the knife to Eren.

Eren took the knife and asked. "I don't get it. Why do we soldiers have to fight other people? Only an idiot would take on a Titan with this," Eren said. "Do you know Ed?"

"Well the Military police don't fight any Titans, they are the police so they fight other people," Ed said.

"And I am sure that there is more than Titans that we would be fighting, There are always worse people," Ed said.

Eren thought about it until he remembered how Mikasa was kidnapped to be a Sex slave and thought. "Yeah you're right I did see people like that," Eren remarked.

Ed was curious but thought that it was a good idea not to ask.

Ed looked at Reiner and saw that he had a very dark expression. But in the expression, Was it Anger?, Sadness, Guilt? Or all of them. 'Interesting...' Ed thought, 'I should keep an eye on him, just in case,' Ed thought.

Eren and Ed got in their stances and Eren were about to attack first... Until he got slammed to the ground by Ed leaving a teeny crater. 'Oh, I think I went a bit too far.' Ed thought.

Ed did the same with Reiner Until Annie came and asked him to fight her right here right now.

The members of the survey corps looked over to Ed's and Eren's Place seeing how he easily took out 2 people with no problem whatsoever and was interesting in how He would do against Anine.

Everyone who was sparing stopped and looked over to Ed and Annie. "I bet that Annie will kick his ass!" Someone yelled. "I bet on Ed." Someone else said.

Ed went to his stance and same with Annie. They both begin.

Annie tried to scoop Ed's legs but failed because he jumped over her kick and roundhouse kicked her.

Annie fell and stood back up, Everyone was shocked and started cheering.

Ed came running with his fake knife and Annie dogged it, Ed then tried the same as Annie by scooping her legs down and it worked. Annie fell once again but this time he pointed the knife at her.

Annie was shocked, 'How could she lose? and this person used the same trick on her. "Who taught you?" Annie asked while taking Ed's hand.

"My teacher taught me and the rest I learned by myself," Ed said. 'Actually, Al was with me but he's not here sadly or maybe good because I don't want to see him get eaten.'

Annie went over to Eren and Reiner and threw them to the ground for her own desires.

"Wait where did you learn it from?" Ed asked curiously.

"My father," Annie said. "Your dad made that move?" Ed said, looking impressed.

"Does it really matter? This training is pointless." Annie said with her usual I don't a give a fuck face.

Meanwhile in the background. "EEEEEK! That blond kid is as strong as Levi." Hange said.

"Tch. He is not half bad himself, I'll give him that." Levi said.

Ed quickly left to take a shower. Of course, he had to do it earlier, so no one will be able to see his automail, Also so he can repair it a bit. 'Good thing Winry taught me a thing or two about fixing my automail.' Ed thought.

'I wonder how she reacting to me missing.' Ed thought.

Ed went back to the cabin to eat dinner. As he walked into the mess hall he saw Jean and Eren fighting as per usual.

"Honing your titan killing skills Huh? Just get away from them Jean-boy." Isn't that a weird system?" Eren asks Jean.

"You just realized that now? I want the system to like that, only for my sake." Jean says smirking.

"You piece of trash!" Eren yelled, standing up to fight Jean.

'I wonder how this will go.' Ed thought. Ed then looked at Mikasa and she looked back signaling her to do something.

"Shut up!" Jean said, grabbing Eren by the collar. "Face it this is the real world!"

"Hey, guys stop!" Cried, Armin.

"Enough Eren," Mikasa said. As she grabbed Eren's hand and removed it off of Jean's collar. They both stared at each other, with her still holding on to Eren's hand.

"Don't screw with me, you Bastard!" Jean yelled at Eren, Grabbing Eren by the collar again.

'How you're that jealous... Eren you're soooo Dense.' Ed thought.

"Hey let go! Eren said yelling at Jean. You're going to rip my shirt!"

"I don't give a damn about your shirt! I'm jealous!"

'Wow you even admit it,' Ed said.

All of them then looked at Edward as he has a big reputation.

Ed sighed. "Honestly both of you guys act like kids. "As you know we're training to be in the Military For god's sake!. Ed pointed at Jean, "You need to need to calm the fuck down and you need to stop being such a dick!. And you, he pointed to Eren. Don't think you're better, You're as worse as Jean, You also need to Calm down and stop causing trouble, Someone could die think if you're in the survey corps and you do something bad. Then both of you could get eaten! Just because you were angry! And you should

stop treating Mikasa like garbage!" Ed yelled at both of them.

Eren felt guilty and looked down 'He's right' Eren thought. But Eren did the same move as Annie on Jean.

Groaning, Jean sat up. "What the hell was that?" Jean asked.

"Something I picked up this afternoon! While you were just screwing around," Eren said. "A carefree, What world do you think is reality? You're just a sad excuse for a soldier." Eren said.

"Eren I think you went too far," Ed said sighing.

Suddenly the door opened and Shadies head poked out. "What was the loud noise I heard?" he said menacingly.

Everyone froze until Mikasa raised her and said. "It was Sasha farting sir."

Sasha gasped at Mikasa.

Shadies wrinkled his nose. "You again? Learn some decency will you?!" He said as he slammed the door.

Everybody began laughing as Sasha went over to Mikasa and started shaking her and Mikasa just shoved a piece of bread into her mouth. 'I am sure he didn't believe that. Maybe he heard everything we said but why did he leave it be.' Ed thought.

After everyone finished dinner, They all went to their cabins to sleep.

[Time skip]

Graduation:

"Congratulations on graduating," Shadies yelled. "Now you're able to join the 3 branches, The military Police were you work for the king and you Patrol the streets but only the top 10 can get there, The garrison where guard the walls and the gates, And the Survey Corps where you go outside and fight Titans," Shadies yelled

"Here are the top 10." Number 10 is Krista Lenz, Number 9 is Connie Springer Number 8 is Sasha blouse, Number 7 is Marco, Number 6 is Jean Kirstein, Number 5 is Eren Jeager, Number 4 is Annie Leonhart, Number 3 Is Bertolt Hover, Number 2 is Reiner, Number 1 is Mikasa Ackerman but the top of the class is Edward Elric.

*Sorry just bear with me, I didn't know what to do I didn't want to remove anyone but if you have any suggestions on who to remove Than I change it.

"Lucky Bastards, Making it to the top ten!" Someone yelled.

"I'm sure you're gonna join the Military Police right?" Someone asked Jean.

"Huh?" Jean said confused.

"That goes without saying! Why the hell else would I have aimed to the top ten." Jean yelled.

"I'm going to join the Military Police too," Marco said.

BLAH BLAH Jean.

"I mean getting the chance to live in the Interior is almost unheard of, Right?

"Or given the chance, would you rather stay here in this "Human Stronghold" Or whatever they like to call it?!"

Everyone looked at Jean but they were not agreeing with him.

"Well... None of us asked to be born in this border town."

"So if it meant not having to cower in fright when you hear Titan footsteps..." Someone said.

"Good answer... You'd all like to the interior right?" Jean asked.

"So... how about you guys?" Jean asked bertolot and Annie.

They both said they want to join the Military police but Annie said "But I don't want anyone to think I am like YOU." Annie said coldly

Jean laughed.

"Hey..." Eren said. "You said the interior is comfortable?"

"Until 5 years ago THIS town was part of the interior too."

"Jean.. you don't have to go to the Interior, I mean, Isn't the interior of your Brain soft enough for you?" Eren asked.

Reiner was trying to hold in his laughter but he couldn't so the drink he drank all came out of his nose and went all over Armin.

"S-Sorry!" Reiner blurted out trying to dry Armin.

Eren Stood up until Mikasa grabbed Eren's arm. "Eren..." Mikasa said. "Don't"

Jean watched them and grew even more jealous.

Ed was just watching this moment.

"Are you trying to say... That I'm an Idiot, Eren." Jean said.

Jean did a blank face and said. "Well, I'm not... I'm just looking at reality."

"More than anyone."

"Four years ago, 20% of the population was sent out to recover our land stolen by the Titans.

"Almost every one of them died," Jean said.

"I think it's crystal clear. Humanity... Doesn't stand a chance against the Titans." Jean said.

Eren just looked at him.

Jean sighed. "Look... It's like a funeral in here, thanks to you."

"So what?"

[10 minutes later] *YES IT'S THIS BORING*

Ed was outside the door watching that Everyone was motivated by Eren's speech.

And of course, they started fighting. Eren was about to land a punch until Mikasa caught him and put him in her back.

"Mikasa?!" Eren said trying to make Mikasa drop him.

Ed found this intriguing.

Everyone started laughing at Eren.

"Tch." Jean said, "You're lucky Eren! Having Mikasa to carry you around like that." "I bet you're planning to drag her into the Survey corps just the same way!" Jean yelled.

Eren opened his eyes wide.

Mikasa threw him to the ground.

"Damn That hurt," Eren said.

"You always act like that when you get angry."

"About what he said... Which branch do YOU wanna join?" Eren asked.

"Same as you." She replied.

"You were at the top of our class... Apply for the MPs!" Eren pleaded.

"Eren wherever you go I will go with you," Mikasa said while blushing. *She is in the manga*

"I just don't want you to die an early death," Mikasa said.

"I'm not asking you to stick with me!" Eren said putting his hand in his head. "How long do toy intend to keep at this?!" He asks.

"As long as we live... I died once and was Restored to life. I won't forget the debt."

Mikasa put her scarf put to her mouth and said. "But more than anything... I don't want to lose any more family..."

"Awwwww, Look at you, you both are cute when you're together," Ed said.

Both Mikasa and Eren blushed a bit.

"But.. Mikasa is right, You both are the only family you have left," Ed said.

Eren looked at Mikasa and was about to say something but Armin came.

"Let's go back to the dorm," Armin said.
