"Where the fuck have you been?" Taylor asked Christian as he eventually emerged into their apartment. He had been worried sick about him. He hadn't heard from him in hours and it had just gone 1 a.m.

Christian sighed as he flopped down on the couch, exhausted. "Training." He simply replied as he looked to him. "I've been promoted to work with Luke, the bigger guy who happens to be her brother."

Taylor raised an eyebrow. "Brother?"

Christian nodded. "And Jack, the other guy? He's, their cousin."

"Family business then."

"Looks that way." He looked to him. "She's scary as fuck. Hot. But scary as fuck. She told me not to disappoint her as the consequences wouldn't be bare thinking about." He sighed before smirking. "They're not a fan of the two fuckwits you've been with." He frowned. "Where did you go?"

Taylor groaned as he sat opposite his friend. "Ocean. We went shark hunting and then fed them dinner."

Christian looked to him. "So that's why there's never any real evidence. They get the sharks to fucking eat the victims!" He sighed. "There's more than this than meets the eye. There something deeper going on."

"What do you mean?"

"Did you not hear her at the warehouse? This Derek Hunt took something precious for her…I think this is more about revenge."

"But why kill pretty much every drug dealer in Seattle. It's more like she's getting rid of the competition. Protecting her turf."

Christian shook his head. "No. The way she was speaking to him. There's no way this is about getting rid of the competition."

"Well, you're going to get closer to her…use the opportunity to get as much information as you can."

"Taylor…" Christian sighed looking to him.

"No." Taylor cut in looking to him. "We knew we'd get this opportunity eventually…we've been here months and now we are that step closer."

"I just feel bad…"

"Why?" Taylor asked horrified. "She's a murderer Chris! She's killed people!"

"But…"

"No buts. You are a cop and you have a job to do."

Christian ran his fingers through his hair sighed. For months they had been undercover to try and catch this killer. Random body parts had been turning up and now he knew why. There was talk but they couldn't get anyone to talk to the police so they had no option but to go undercover. Christian was a fresh face so no one would know him. He needed to get more answers and now he knew there was more than this than meets the eye despite what his partner may think. "I know, I know…I just think this isn't as straight forward as we thought."

"Don't get emotionally involved." Taylor warned looking to him. "Emotions cause problems. Emotions make you drop your guard. Remember the rules I taught you when we first started working together."

Christian frowned. "Don't go to a strip club?"

Taylor rolled his eyes. "No. A criminal is a criminal."

"But…"

"No buts. Come on kid…this is going to be the bust of your career…don't mess this up by getting too emotionally involved with this chick."

"But we have a name for her now…we can get a background check on her and the family…there is definitely something more than this seems."

"We only got a first name."

"It's a start and I know where she lives. Look I'm going to carry on getting close to her and getting the information we need."

"Christian." Taylor sighed in frustration as he looked to him. "Whether there is something more to it or not. She has killed people and we witnessed that tonight. She did not hesitate to kill that guy last night. Now go and get some sleep. We are probably going to be in for some long days."

Christian gave a slight nod before he got to his feet and headed to his room.

Taylor watched him go before he sighed to himself. Christian was a good kid and a bloody good cop. He wasn't going to let him ruin his career by letting him get emotional with this girl. Sure, it was a shock that it was a woman but, in his eyes, she was still a criminal and he put criminals behind bars.

Going into his room, Christian stripped down to his boxers before climbing into bed, not even bothering to shower. He was exhausted and just needed to get his head down for a few hours. His eyes falling to a close he then groaned as he heard his phone go off, luckily it was only a text message but it was his undercover phone so he knew it was from either tweedle dee or tweedle dumb. Reaching over to his trousers he pulled the phone out from his pocket, frowning at the message from an unknown number.

From: Unknown
To: Chris
Boss going for a run at 6am. Pick you up at 5.30. Be ready.

Simply replying back okay, Christian set his alarm before he tossed his phone of the floor and sighed. He guessed that must have been Luke. Great. Now he had to get up at stupid o'clock but at least he would get to spend some time with Anastasia, hoping that Luke or Jack wouldn't be breathing down his neck. Though from Jack's performance tonight he doubted he was a running in the morning kind of guy.
Rolling over he then let his eyes fall to a close, though the only thing he could see was the blue orbs of one Anastasia.

As his alarm went off the next morning, Christian rolled over and grabbed his phone and turned it off before he groaned and hid his face in the pillow briefly before he dragged himself out of bed and went into the bathroom for a quick shower in hoping it would help wake him up.
Standing under the hot water, he let the water his skin. He wasn't in the shower long, after a quick wash he climbed out and proceeded to get ready for his run with the boss.
Dressed and ready to go he headed into the kitchen to get a bottle of water, jumping slightly as he saw Taylor already up and flicking through the morning paper. "Fucking hell…what the hell are you doing up at this time?" Christian asked with a shake of his head as he headed to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water.

Taylor looked to him. "Could ask you the same thing. Since when do you get up at this time to go for a run?"

"Since I got a text last night to be ready as the boss wants to go for a run and I'm her new jogging partner."

"Bit of exercise won't kill you." He shrugged before turning his attention back to the paper.

"Are you making contact today?" Christian asked.

Taylor nodded. "Yes. I'm going to the drop off in a couple of hours."

Christian nodded. "Do you think they'll start to pull us out?"

Taylor shook his head. "Not enough evidence. Plus, you are hell bent on thinking there is more to this than what meets the eye." He looked to him. "Consider this your chance to prove it."

"Oh, I will."

"Don't be too cocky." Taylor warned him. "Following your gut is a good thing, but if it's wrong…there will be consequences."

"I know." Christian replied. "But my gut is never normally wrong." He smirked to him before he then pulled his phone out of his pocket as it vibrated. "I got to go; my ride is here. Speak to you later."

Taylor nodded. "Remember not to drop your guard. Odds are they have done background checks on us and they might even test us to make sure our stories match up."

"I'll be careful." He told him as he grabbed his water and headed out of the apartment and down to the waiting car. Getting in he raised an eyebrow as he saw Anastasia in the back texting away. "Wasn't expecting to see you yet."

Anastasia frowned as she looked up from her phone and looked to him. "Why? I'm the one who wanted to go for a run."

"I was told at 6."

Anastasia smirked. "I have a specific place I like to run. It'll take thirty minutes to get there." She simply told him before looking him up and down before smirking once more. "You're even grumpier in the mornings, aren't you?"

Christian scoffed. "What do you expect? Big brother up front had me running laps around your cousin for ages and I didn't get in until about one. I like my sleep." He grumbled.

Anastasia couldn't help but laugh. "Oh, you are a right grump!" She looked up front. "Luke stop by a diner on the way. Get Mr Grump here an extra strong coffee." She laughed and shook her head before she turned her attention back to her phone. "What do you like to do for fun then Chris?" She asked not taking her eyes off her phone.

"I don't have time for fun." He simply replied.

"Everyone has time for fun." She rolled her eyes. "Let me rephrase. What do you like to do to…unwind? Relax?"

Christian shrugged. "Read."

Anastasia looked to him. "Read?" She asked curiously.

"Yes. Read. You know, a book? Has lots of pages?"

"Careful." She warned him. He was getting too mouthy for her liking this morning. It was still too early for his smart mouth. "What kind of books?"

Christian shrugged. "I read different genres." He told her honestly. "Crime, thriller, romance. If it has a good plot line then I'll give anything a go."

"Never pegged you for a romance kind of guy."

"Looks can be deceiving."

"That they are." Anastasia commented looking to him before she turned her attention back to her phone.

"Highway is clear." Luke commented. "We'll be there in no time."

"Well at this time it should be." Anastasia grumbled with a roll of her eyes before she shut her phone off and tossed it into her bag on the floor and relaxed back in her seat. Looking to Chris she smirked. "Wanna play a game?"

"I don't play games."

"Oh, come on. Stop being such a tight ass." She teased looking to him. "Let's have some fun. You're stuck in the car with me. So, we'll play." She concluded before she thought of a question. "Okay, easy one. Favourite colour?"

Christian rolled his eyes. "Black."

Anastasia scoffed. "That is such a boring colour."

"I'm a boring person."

Anastasia narrowed her eyes at him. "Fine. Favourite book?"

"You can't no comment the question!" Anastasia laughed looking to him. "Oh, come on. I promise I won't make fun of you."

"Where Rainbow's End."

Luke burst out laughing.

"Luke!" Anastasia hissed, leaning forward and smacking him across the head before she looked to Christian once more. "Cecelia Ahern, right?"

Chris nodded. "Right."

"Why that story? I mean it is a total chick novel and you're…a right grumpy bastard."

"Personal reasons." He stated before looking to her. "And no. I will not divulge so don't even bother asking." He told her point blank.

Anastasia pouted. "You're such a party pooper." She huffed folding her arms across her chest before smirking and looking to him once more. "Favourite sex position?"

"Anastasia!" Luke groaned up front. "Can you not? And he's already been warned to stay away from you. You are off limits and pretty boy knows it."

"Ugh. I'm surrounded by actual buzz kills!" She groaned as she glared at her brother. "How am I supposed to have any fun when you threaten every man who comes in two feet of me?"

"You are my little sister. It's my job." He simply told her.

Ana rolled her eyes and sighed before she looked to Chris. "So…favourite sex position?" She whispered to him.

Chris had to bite back a laugh. She was scary as fuck, but at the same time relentless and funny! "What if I told you, I was a virgin?" He whispered back to her.

"I'd say you're fucking lying." She bluntly told him. "You are far too good looking to be a virgin."

"I might be highly religious."

Ana smirked. "If you were highly religious you wouldn't be working for me."

"Touché."

Ana smirked at him. As they pulled up to their destination she climbed out of the car and took in a deep breath. She loved coming for runs up here.

"You not joining us?" Christian asked looking to Luke.

"Am I fuck." Luke replied before he looked to Christian and smirked. "Good luck." He told him before he turned back around and relaxed in his seat and got his phone out.

Rolling his eyes, he climbed out of the car, moving over to Anastasia as he watched her stretch. "So big brother told me good luck…why?"

Ana smirked as she looked to him. "We are going to run solid for 5 miles."

"Hardly a challenge." Christian scoffed.

Ana smirked. "Up there." She pointed behind him.

Looking behind him, Christian looked at what was probably the steepest fucking hill he had ever seen. She was probably going to kill him.

"Still up for the challenge?" Ana asked him with a raised eyebrow.

Christian looked to her. "What do I get if I beat you?"

"You're not going to beat me."

"Wanna bet?"

"Competitive I see." Ana smirked. "Okay. If I beat you, you have to take me out for a fancy dinner."

"And if I win?"

"What do you want?" She asked.

Christian thought for a minute. He had to be careful. Shrugging he looked to her. "If I win, I want fucking tweedle dee and tweedle dumb gone."

Ana frowned. "Who?"

"Those two fuckwits. Adam and Daniel. They're a fucking waste of space and annoying as fuck. I want them gone."

"Consider it done." Ana told him with smirk before she set herself up at the starting line. "By the way. I love seafood."

Christian stood next to her and looked to her. "You seem pretty confident."

"Oh I am." Ana replied looking to him.

Christian prepared himself before he took a deep breath. He had no idea if he was actually going to win this. It was probably the steepest hill he had ever seen.

"On your marks." Ana began as she prepared herself. "Get set…." She looked to him before looking ahead. "GO!" She giggled before setting off.

As she said go, Christian sprinted off but Anastasia was already way ahead of him. She was fast. And as he ran, trying to catch up to her, there was one thing that became extremely clear. He was going to have to find a decent seafood restaurant cause one thing was for sure. He was about to fucking lose this bet.
