Part 3

Few hours later after Sonic bandaged his injuries from Shadow's beating, he needed to see his Ames before he left. As much as he was hurting from Clara Rayne breaking his heart Sonic needed to see with his own eyes that Amy was ok- Tails tried to reason with his big brother that the sakura coloured hedgehog wouldn't forgive him as this wasn't missing a date with excuses like he forgot or Eggman attacking Mobius.

Despite Tails' warning Sonic sped towards Castle Acorn and stopped just out of sight to see Amy, it was true that he needed to make it up to the pink hedgehog as she had always forgave him in the past and this no different. All he had to say was he got cold feet and wasn't sure about getting married right away, Amy being Amy would try to hit him with her Piko-Piko Hammer but eventually she would forgive him. With that plan Sonic headed to the balcony where he knew his ex fiancee was staying only to see Shadow was already there and holding his Ames, Shadow had no right to touch his girlfriend and Sonic wasn't going to stand there and let it happen. Just as he was about to make his dramatic entrance he suddenly heard Amy crying, as much as he wanted to be the one to comfort her like he usually did and this time he had no right feeling his heart shatter when he heard Amy say she hated him.

That part was the one that broke him, he always believed that he always have Amy no matter what else happens and to hear that she hated him. Everything he had been through he had always relied on Amy to be there to pick him up when he was down and cheer him on when he thought things were looking bleak, as long as Amy was by his side he believed that he was unstoppable and can survive anything as she was his constant in his life he couldn't live without.

That was the problem- yes he loved Amy as she was reliable, caring and a mature independent person and lets not forget beautiful. But it wasn't the passionate love he once felt for Sally Acorn or other girls through the years that each time breaking Amy's heart, he knew that the pink hedgehog deserved better than him but she belonged with him...

Wait. What right did he have, Amy deserved the world and more that he couldn't give her. Amy wanted to be married with three children while he wanted to be free running from place to place without those responsibilities chaining him down, could he settle down with the white picket fence and 2.4 children. Sonic wanted to make Amy happy, but to sacrifice his freedom for Amy's happiness he just couldn't do it.

Watching the pair on the balcony he didn't notice Sally was behind him till she spoke, Sonic turned around for Sally to see his right eye was swollen and covered in cuts and bruises that needed ice. Leading him to the one of the kitchens for some ice and pain killers before getting to work, through their conversation Sally listened to Sonic's excuses and his plan to get Amy to forgive him so they could be together without getting married. Hearing this Sally was seething and wanted to bruise his other eye, Sonic can be a Jerk at times but no one ever beside Shadow and Knuckles ever call him on it. Sonic never saw the tears when he missed something that was important to Amy like a date or her birthday- Cream wanted to speak up in defence of her best friend but Amy always made Cream promise not to say anything and the young bunny had to bite her tongue.

"No, Sonic you know I care for you but I won't stand back and watch you hurt Amy all over again. There is no excuse for what you did and I know for a fact you left Amy for another girl and don't try to deny it either."

Sonic was about to protest, but one look from the princess and Sonic knew he couldn't lie to Sally to save his life. Shoulders slumped in defeat Sonic wondered what should be done to make things right and the only option was for him to leave Radical City for a short while till Amy was back on her feet. Sonic was reluctant to leave as he had to make amends, but what Sally had said Amy needed him to leave so she could heal from the heartbreak- he just didn't want his Ames in Shadow's arms as anyone would be better than him and no matter what everyone said Shadow couldn't be trusted.

Just before the dawn Sonic left Castle Acorn Sonic said his goodbyes to his Childhood friend promising her he would come if they needed help with anything, Sally sighed knowing that Sonic never really answered his calls but kept her promise. Smiling sadly Sonic looked over to Amy's balcony hoping to get a glimpse of her before he left- he was disappointed. With his signature wink and smile Sonic sped away not knowing that Amy was tearfully watched the love of her life leave her again.
